“Please,” Drew cut in. “It'll be my treat. Please?”

“Okay fine, fine,” Ned chuckled. “I can't say no to you, can I, Drew Sanford?”

“No you can't,” Drew grinned, triumphantly.

“Do you have any particular place in mind?”

“Not really, but I saw a nice-looking one when we were driving around before. I guess we could check that out. Is that okay?”

  “It's perfect.”

  Chapter 11

  Reunion

The Sweet Piece restaurant had caught Drew's eye because of how beautiful it looked on the outside. Drew didn't remember where it was, but Ned did.

The drive to the restaurant didn't take long, and soon, Ned had pulled up to its parking lot. It was a big building, with a large glass window in front. The name of the restaurant was etched beautifully across the glass.

When they walked in, Drew noticed that it was even more exquisite on the inside. The Sweet Piece had a long marble counter by the left side of the entrance, and then had a seating area, which completely covered the middle and right side of it. The black and yellow walls were textured and gorgeously decorated with various works of art.

There was cool jazz playing from different hidden speakers. The waiters were dressed in grey, which fit perfectly with the decor of the restaurant. Drew hadn't been expecting it to be so fancy. It meant it would be expensive, and Drew wasn't ready for that.

  “Is there something wrong?”

Drew looked at Ned. It took a moment for the question to register in his head.

“What? No, no, nothing's wrong, Ned.”

"We could go somewhere else if you want.”

  “It's fine. We're here already.”

  “Are you sure?”

Drew's answer was halted when someone ran to him and engulfed him in a bear hug.

  “Hey redhead!” Florence beamed.

“Hey, Florence,” Drew greeted. He was genuinely glad that there was someone who was so happy to see him.

“Hello, wow you're so handsome,” Florence said, as she turned to Ned. “We haven't met, I could be the love of your life.” She took Ned's hand and shook it vigorously. Ned seemed somewhat surprised by her energy, but not in any way displeased by it.

“Hi, I'm Ned,” he greeted back. “Thank you for the compliment. I must say, you're absolutely beautiful, breathtaking even.”

Drew did a double take. He had never heard Ned talk like that before.

“Oh my,” Florence fawned. She turned back to Drew. “He's so charming. Please tell me he's single.”

“I am single,” Ned answered. “But as gorgeous as you are, I have to decline. I'm gay.”

“Come on,” she whined. “All the good guys in Long Harbor City are either married or gay. A girl needs a break.”

  Both men shared a laugh.

“So are you here to see Tyson?” Florence asked.

“Tyson's here?” Drew perked up when he heard the name. It would be nice to see another familiar face.

“Yeah, he works here now. Come on, let's go and get a table. If we see him, we'll wave him over. Come on, guys—I'll treat you.”

Drew breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't make any move to protest Florence's offer. She led them straight to a table that could seat four, and they sat down. A waiter came with some menus for the three of them. After telling him what they would like, Florence whispered something to him.

“What did you say?” Drew asked, as the waiter left.

“I asked for Tyson,” Florence answered

“Really?” Ned asked. “Then why was he blushing?”

“Oh, that,” Florence said. “I might have mentioned that he had a nice butt.”

“Dude, isn't that like harassment?” Drew asked, laughing.

Florence shrugged. The same waiter arrived again with a tray containing their food.

“I have told Tyson to come over,” he said, as he placed the dishes on the table. “He will be with you shortly.”

“Thanks,” Florence said, winking at him.

As they waited they talked about many things. Florence continued to bring up the fact that crime had risen and yet the police had done nothing about it. Drew and Ned, not wanting to talk about that, tried and succeeded in diverting the conversation towards dating. That was when Florence went all out, talking about all the men she had her eye on. She was talking about a recent date that she had been on, when Drew spotted Tyson from across the room.

  Chapter 12

  Revenge

Tyson hadn't expected the rush he felt. His cheeks flushed when he saw Drew sitting with Florence and another person he didn't know. He felt a pang of jealousy when he saw just how handsome Drew's companion was.

“Why do I still feel like this?” he wondered. “I'm supposed to be over Drew. I have someone else now. Someone I love—who loves me too—so why do I feel this way?”

Tyson's mind drifted to his boyfriend, Victor. He thought about the times they had spent together, and how, even though they loved each other, it felt like they weren't in an actual relationship. It felt lacking to him, probably because Tyson was a really open person. He wasn't used to keeping secrets or telling lies, especially with his best friend. It was like Victor had changed him, and he was still yet to know if it was a good thing or not.

All these thoughts were the reason why Tyson turned away when his eyes met Drew's. He knew he couldn't handle having another conversation with Drew, without feeling a new surge of emotions, so he decided to avoid him completely.

So when Drew started to wave Tyson over, Tyson ignored him. He walked back through the doors that led to the kitchen and went through another door that led to the back of the restaurant.

“My shift was over anyway,” he said to himself.

He brought out his phone and tried to call Victor again. He had been trying all day, so he could tell Victor that he had gotten the job. So far, he had been unsuccessful. He had also sent numerous texts, but Victor hadn't replied to any of those either.

This time though, Victor answered on the first ring.

“Hello, Tyson,” he heard Victor's voice over the phone. “I was just about to call you.”

  “Really, what's up?”

“Well, I'm going to just come out and say it. I'm done with this—this entire thing—I'm done with us. Your work is done, and you're not needed anymore. I hope you have a good life though, and that you find happiness or whatever, but don't try to find me or contact me again. Plans have changed, so this will be the end for us. Lose my number and have a good life.”

“What . . . I—” The line went dead. Tyson couldn't believe his ears. He stood there alone, coming to terms with the fact that Victor had just dumped him. He tried to dial the number, but it was unavailable. He tried repeatedly, but got the same result—every single time.

That was when it dawned on Tyson that he had no other way of getting in contact with Victor. He didn't know anything about him. He didn't know where Victor lived; he didn't know any of Victor's friends; and he didn't even know his last name.

“Oh my God,” Tyson cried. His vision went blurry as tears formed in his eyes. They flowed freely down his face.

“This is all because of him,” Tyson said, with a broken voice. “This is all because of that redheaded bastard. I'll make him pay for all the suffering he has put me through. I'll make him pay: I swear it.”
