Mr. Nice Guy

by Jennifer Miller

Now on to Jason. This is his first book, so please stand by as he transitions into the first person and attempts to pass an omnibus bill of gratitude.

Hi. Jason here. Because Mr. Nice Guy is set in the world of New York media, I’ve had the urge to thank literally everyone who’s ever shared that world with me. I feel ever-fortunate to have such great, talented friends. Without them, the weirdest parts of this career wouldn’t have been half as fun. They do amazing work. They are amazing people. They consume an amazing amount of free liquor, provided by publicists for reasons we’ll never fully understand. But I’ve come to accept that I can’t thank everyone by name. This book can only be so many pages. And also, I’d totally forget someone and regret it forever. So to be woefully, inadequately brief about it, thank you to my friends from Boston, Men’s Health, Fast Company, Maxim, and Entrepreneur magazines (and a special shout-out to those I worked with at previous jobs who have joined me in various capacities at Entrepreneur), and my Dudes Dinner dudes (née Dudes Night dudes, but now we’re old), and the people who took a chance and hired me (some of whom overlap with the aforementioned), and the peers who have become friends after events and panels and after-work beers and freelancing and sometimes just a lot of tweets. Listen, you: If you think I’m talking about you in this paragraph, then I am. Thank you for inspiring me, and this book, and for not unfollowing me on social media as I transform into a self-promotional bot, because that’s what friends are for.

ADVANCE PRAISE FOR MR. NICE GUY

“In Mr. Nice Guy, one brave couple does what most of us would never dare: give brutally honest feedback about last night’s sex. The result is an incredibly funny, fiendishly smart, deliciously NSFW romp you won’t be able to put down.”

—Sascha de Gersdorff, executive editor, Cosmopolitan

“In their addictive comedy, Miller and Feifer have captured not just the heady mix of young ambition and uncertainty that many readers will recognize, but also New York City in a precise moment of transition, when one generation is fading but the next isn’t quite ready (or willing) to take its place. We can all find a bit of ourselves in Mr. Nice Guy. For better or worse.”

  —Neil Janowitz, editorial director, Vulture.com

“This pitch-perfect take on modern romance is far more than a guilty pleasure. It’s also a timely battle of the sexes, taking aim at deep-seated assumptions about who wields the power—in the corner office, and in the bedroom.”

—Stacy London, host of What Not to Wear and Love, Lust or Run

“A juicy insider’s tryst through the ever-shifting world of the glossy magazines.”

—Jo Piazza, author of The Knockoff

“Witty, sexy, sweet, and utterly engrossing, Mr. Nice Guy stakes out fresh battleground in the war of the sexes. With its twisty plot and fizzy cast of characters, this is a joy ride you can’t predict nor put down until the surprising end.”

—Amy Scheibe, author of A Fireproof Home for the Bride

“An addictively entertaining and deliciously sexy debut.”

—Julie Garwood, New York Times bestselling author
