“The same way y’all came in. That would be the only way. Wait a minute. Unless they took the side road that leads back to the highway. Did you see the road when you came in on this road that turns off to the left? It would have been; I think the second turn on the left as you were coming down this way?” Todd asks.

“Yeah, I remember that road. Do you think they may have taken that way back out?” Becky asks.

  “It’s possible.” Todd says.

“Ok then. Thanks for your help and information. We are going to see if maybe there is any sign of them around there.” Becky says.

“I hope y’all find them. They saved my family when they came to help us.” Todd says.

“I hope we do too.” Tammy says.

They all say their goodbyes. The trio gets back into the truck. “Do you think we need to get our rifles out and ready?” Tammy asks.

“I don’t think it would hurt.” Becky says.

They both look over at Kelley, who appears to be drinking from her thermos.

“What have you got?” Tammy asks Kelley.

“Just getting a drink.” Kelley replies.

  “Of what?” Tammy asks.

“Why do you want to know?” Kelley asks.

“You brought wine? Really?” Tammy asks.

“Yeah, why? What is wrong with that?” Kelley asks.

“Nothing. Give me a drink. I need to settle my nerves.” Tammy says.

  “Me too.” Becky says.

Kelley gladly passes her thermos around. So now I have a merry trio of tanked up nieces coming to my rescue. I love my nieces.

Becky drives about three miles and they see some cars sitting on each side of the road and two blocking the road.

“Well, I think we may have found what happened to them.” Kelley says.

“It looks that way.” Tammy says.

“So how are we going to handle this?” Tammy asks.

“Well, we need to get our guns ready. I’m sure we aren’t getting by this. It looks to be about ten people out there. They already see us, so there is not hiding now. The only thing to do is roll up close and see what they say. Tammy, slide over here and drive so I can get in the back. I am going to try to get to where they can’t see me and see if I can get a shot in. We need to get situated so when I take my first shot, you and Kelley can join in on the firing squad. We need to see if we can get them to run so they can lead us back to where ever the hell they came from. I think we may find the family there.” Becky tells them.

“Ok. Say when you are about to fire Becky. We need to be ready as soon as your shot comes out. They look like they won’t give us much time to take shots. I think we need to take out the four in the front first. And I will take a tire shot to a couple of the vehicles to put them out of commission. That will leave them two more vehicles. I hope at that point; they are ready to move out so we can follow.” Tammy says.

  “Agreed.” Kelley tells them.

  “On three.” Becky says.

  “1” ….

“You didn’t tell us you were starting to count yet.” Kelley tells Becky.

“It should have been obvious when I said one.” Becky says.

“You’re supposed to tell us.” Kelley says.

“Ok, starting my count now.” Becky says.

  Kelley smiles.

  “1...2...3 And go.” Becky says.

Becky takes her first shot into a bearded, hairy man who looks like he has never seen water or soap. She gets a knee shot in so he can’t run over to them. Tammy takes out an idiot who is right in front of a car parked across the road. Then she aims lower and takes a tire out. She brings her rifle back up to take the jack ass standing on the left side of idiot 1 out with a knee shot.

  “Bet that hurts.” Tammy says.

She gets another tire shot in on the car to the left. Now they only have two cars left.

Kelley has taken her shots and her two targets have fallen.

“You shot my finger off bitch.” Kelley’s victim is screaming.

The other one is yelling that she shot him in the ass. I have always heard that an ass shot is one of the worst gun shots you can get. Clearly, Kelley had heard that too.

“Be glad it wasn’t your nuts mother fucker.” Kelley yells back.

Becky lays lower down in the back and Tammy slowly backs the truck up. The truck has taken some hits, but it is still in running order. Well, this will be another bur in Marc’s ass. Two trucks shot up in less than three months.

“Are they leaving yet?” Becky asks.

“Yeah, looks that way.” Kelley tells her.

“Stay close enough to see where they go Tammy, but not close enough for them to shoot us.” Becky says.

  “Right.” Tammy says.

The remaining men pile in the cars and leave. Tammy follows to see which way they go. They drive for about fifteen minutes and Tammy can see what looks to be a prison? A compound? What the hell is it? She wonders.

“I think we are here.” Tammy tells Kelley and Becky.

They see a fenced-in compound from the looks of it. It looks like a prison. Around the fence, there are zombies leaning against it. The fence is starting to lean like it has all the weight on it that it can hold. They see all types of vehicles parked in a parking area. And the main building has an area that is separately fenced around. In that fence, they see more vehicles. There are RVs, cars, trucks, even a couple of semi-trucks. And over to the far left, close to the fence, they see Marc’s truck.

“Son of a bitch. That’s Marc’s truck.” Becky says.

  “Yeah, it is.” Tammy says.

“So we need to make a plan. We need to back away from here before we are spotted and find somewhere to hide for the night. We have to figure out how to get in there and get them out. I saw a copse of trees down the road we can pull into and hide.” Becky says.

They head back down the way they came in and pull into the trees to make plans for kicking some ass.

  Chapter 6

The next day, Bobby and Marc are sore, but ok. Someone brought food and water in earlier and they all have eaten. Max also came back in to tell them they would be in another match tonight.

“Y’all boys get ready for your fight later tonight. You did good last night, but I don’t think you will do too well tonight.” Max says.

  “Fuck you.” Bobby says.

Max laughs and turns to walk out.

Bobby, Diane and I are at the barred window talking.

“Tonight, when they come in to get me and Diane, I am taking them down. I am going to stick that knife as far in as I can.” I tell them.

“Tracie, if there are two or three you can’t take them all down.” Bobby says.

“What choice do we have? If we don’t try, we die. And I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to die just yet. I still have some more bitching, griping and annoying ahead of me.” I tell him.

“This is what I think. When they come in to get Diane and me, we take them out. There has only been one coming in here. Even last night, there was only one. When we get him, we take the keys and get you and Marc out. Then we try to make our way outside. I can see your truck from my cell window. If we can get to it, can you get it wired to start up?” I ask Marc.

“Yeah, I can do that, but how are we going to get to it to start with?” Marc asks.

“Well, everyone will be at that damn fight. So there shouldn’t be that many left hanging around watching.” I tell him.

“Ok, so that will be our plan.” Diane says. They all agree.

We sit and wait for night to come. I keep the Ka bar that Bobby gave me. Later in the evening, they bring what they say is dinner, but what looks like something the zombies shit out. Yeah, I know, I know. Gross, but true.

  “Holy hell.” Marc says.

  “What is it?” Diane asks.

“Can y’all see out of your windows to the edge of those trees down the road?” Marc asks.

We go to our windows to look, and yea
h, we can see that area.

  “Yeah.” I reply.

“Can y’all see that truck that is almost hidden, but has someone sitting on the top of it? It looks like they have binoculars.” Marc says.

  Still, we are all looking.

“That looks like Tammy.” I say.

“I can only make out the light color hair, but it looks like a woman with hair down to her shoulders.” I say.

About a minute later, the woman is joined by two more people. One sits up on the top of the cab with her and the other in standing in front of them.

  “Uh, guys.” I say.

  “What is it?” Everyone asks.

“Trey, come over here. Since you are the youngest, you should have great eyesight. We can’t see that far.” I tell Trey.

“’Y’all are so old you can’t see far now?” Trey says with a huge smile.

“Boy, get your ass over here and put your eyes in this window before I kick your ass from here to Tuesday.” I tell him.

“It’s already Tuesday Aunt Tracie.” Trey says with a snort.

“Get your ass over here.” I tell him.

Trey gets to the window, looks out and starts smiling.

  “What?” I ask him.

“That is momma, Aunt Kelley and Aunt Tammy.” Trey says.

Bobby, Marc, Diane and I just look at one another.

“Well, it looks like the rescue party has arrived.” I say.

  Bobby and Marc laugh.

  “What?” I ask.

“Well, I was just thinking that you pissed them off pretty bad when they got us. You had Max turning every shade of red imaginable. You and that mouth can take down the best of them. He will think he is in hell now since there are 3 more to add to you and Diane.” Bobby says.

“Smart asses run in the family and yes, we got it.” I tell Bobby.

“Have you met your sister-in-law?” I ask Bobby.

  He laughs.

Diane gives me the stink eye. Well, technically, since she is older than me, I got it from her, then she passed it to her offspring.

We sit and wait about another hour. Soon, we hear the keys in the lock again.

“Here they come.” I tell Diane.

She gets up and walks over to the left of our cell and Trey moves over to the right. I stand in the middle close to the door so he will get me first.

As he comes in he asks if we are ready.

“Yeah, and Trey is coming with us tonight.” I reply.

“I don’t give a shit who comes with y’all, get your ass moving bitch.” Gremlin says.

I look at Diane, who can clearly see me turning red. I know because I can feel my face getting hot.

So I walk up closer to Gremlin and say, “Go to hell bastard.”

I take the Ka bar and stab him in the side of the neck at his carotid artery. Gremlin grabs at his neck, gurgling, trying to speak, unable to do so. I laugh at him and say, “I told y’all I was going to kill the hell out of every last one of you ass wipes.” Gremlin falls to his knees. Trey kicks him in the back to knock him over. Diane goes over to him to get the keys. As Gremlin lies there spewing blood everywhere, we make our way out of the cell.

As we are walking down the hallway, we see others locked up too. They are asking us to be let out. I tell them to hold on a second. I go to Bobby’s door and unlock it and then we make our way down to Marc’s door and let him out.

As we come back up, we unlock a few more cells that have people in them. They all look grateful to be free. We let them know what we are doing and they decide to follow us out. We walk back down the long corridor we were brought in through. Marc is in the front checking for anyone guarding. We come upon a guard that has his back to us. Marc walks quietly up to him and wraps his forearm around the man’s neck and starts choking him out. The man struggles for a few minutes, drops his gun on the floor and Trey runs over to pick it up. He brings it back over to Bobby.

The man drops to the ground and Marc looks in his pockets for weapons and finds a Ka bar and a 44 on his side. Marc takes those, hands the Ka bar to Diane and keeps the 44. We continue our way up to what we hope is the door that leads outside.

We get to the door and Marc tries to open it. It’s locked. Diane steps up and tells him to let her try with the keys.

She tries a key and it won’t work. So we wait until she has tried three more keys before we hear the lock release. Bobby is bringing up our six. Marc pushes the door open slowly and we walk out and head around to the left side where we saw his truck parked.

As soon as we get around the corner, we see two guards out there.

They look at us, stunned, wondering what we are doing out there. Diane charges one and stabs him in his chest. She obviously hit a lung as we can hear bubbling sounds coming out. So she takes another stab and gets him in the heart. I run over to the other one when Diane started running and I stab in the neck again. Again, another gusher. Gross, I know. But you can’t have any care for people who would rather kill you than not.

We continue to the area where the truck is. The ones who followed us out walk around to find vehicles they can take. Marc tells them to wait before starting it so we can go out at the same time. If we start one now, it will bring attention to us.

They find themselves a car to leave in and we make it over to Marc’s truck. Marc gets in to start trying to get it wired to crank up. He hands Trey the gun he has been carrying and Bobby and Trey watch around us.

Now all we need is for the truck to start.

  Chapter 7

“I see people walking around.” Tammy says.

“It looks like they have a few guards at the front. There is one at the main gate. It looks like a guard shack there.” Tammy tells them.

“I think we need to go up there when it gets dark.” Kelley says.

  “I agree.” Says Becky.

They sit and wait for darkness to fall. After getting their rifles loaded, they get ready for the shit fest that will be starting soon.

They continue to sit and wait and Tammy continues her look out. It is getting dark now and they are nervous.

“Hey girls, come and look at this and tell me what you see.” Tammy says.

Becky gets the binoculars and looks.

“I see some people coming out and going around the corner of the building.” Becky says.

“I see them too.” Kelley says.

“Wait a minute.” Kelley says. “I would know that red head anywhere. That’s Trey in all his shining red glory.”

Tammy gets the binoculars back and takes another look.

“Yep, it is. Look in front of him. There is Marc, Tracie and momma. Trey is next and Bobby is following up behind with a gun. At least they have a gun.” Tammy says.

“Are you girls ready to move in?” Becky asks.

“Yeah, a few more seconds. Marc just took a guard out. Whoa, Tracie did too. It looks like they are headed to Marc’s truck. Can he hot wire it Becky?” Tammy asks.

  “Hell yes.” Becky smiles.

“Well the shit is about to hit the fan. Let them get to the truck and give Marc time to get it started. It looks like some other people came out with them and they are looking for a vehicle.” Kelley tells them.

They sit and watch for a few more minutes, then get in the truck and get ready to move in. Tammy drives while Becky and Kelley are in the back with their rifles.

“Kelley, are you drunk?” Tammy asks.

“Not yet little sister.” Kelley says.

“Give me a drink. I need to settle my nerves again.” Tammy says.

Kelley passes her thermos to Tammy. Can they please not get drunk while trying to help us?

  “Let’s go.” Becky says.

“They are at the truck and Marc is under the dash. It won’t take him long. We need to head that way. I am guessing he will be coming towards that front gate. We need to wait for them to get in the truck, roll up to the guard tower, shoot that guard and try to push the gate open. I want to flood it
with zombies to take the attention from us.” Becky says.

They head to the guard shack. There is so much noise at the shack, the zombies don’t hear the truck rolling towards them.

Becky aims and fires at the guard. He falls down in the guard tower. They look around to see if anyone hears the shot. Only the zombies.

“Oh hell. Hurry up and push the gate Tammy. Here come the carnivorous bastards.” Becky says.

Tammy pushes the gate open. Of course now, the zombies have their eye on the prize. Becky and Kelley in the back of the truck is where they are headed.

“Well, I never thought I would have this many followers. I didn’t think I would ever be so popular.” Kelley says.

  Becky snorts out a laugh.

“Can y’all not laugh yet? We are on the menu right now like a seven course meal.” Tammy tells them.

“Shut up and drive James.” Kelley tells Tammy.

“I am about to act like James, Grandpa James that is, and crack a head with a bat.” Tammy says.

Now Kelley and Becky are both snorting out laughs because my daddy, James was a mess. He didn’t mind going off on people, cursing you out, hitting you with his cane. Whatever, he was up for it.

They see Marc, Trey, Bobby, Diane and Tracie load up in the truck.

  “They are in.” Becky says.

Move on up. Don’t let these damn window lickers get in front of the truck and try not to hit them, we don’t need to fuck up the radiator.” Becky says.

“You got that shit right.” Tammy tells her.

  ********************************

“Do you see Kelley and Becky in the truck? Tammy is driving.” Diane says.

“Are they coming in here?” Marc asks.

  “Yeah.” I say.

“Damn it, they are going to get hurt.” Marc says.

“Well, I doubt that since Becky and Kelley have rifles and I’m sure Tammy has hers by her side. And…. Becky just popped a cap in the tower guard. I’m thinking they may be able to take care of themselves my dear nephew. They are probably tanked up on wine.” I say with a laugh.

“They have pushed the gate open so the zombies can get in. See, great minds think alike. It looks like they are coming this way. Kelley and Becky have their beads on site. I think they are trying to keep the noise down until they see if we make it up to them.” I say.
