I leaned forward and flicked my tongue against the head of his cock before sliding my mouth down his shaft. His thighs tensed as I moved down to the base, tasting my own sweet juices on him. I moaned as I pulled my head back up the shaft and looked into his eyes. He chuckled and shook his head, reaching forward and pushing my head down with his hand. I liked when he was in control. It was hot and sensual. I opened my throat and allowed him to start controlling my head. He grasped my face with both hands and bobbed me up and down on his cock, groaning with every stroke. I reached up and massaged his balls, running my finger back and forward again along his sack.

He breathed heavily, pushing and then pulling my head faster and faster up and down his shaft. He pulled my head up, and I breathed deeply, spit dribbling from my lips. He looked at me, his cock throbbing in front of me, and smiled, leaning down to kiss my lips. When he pulled his head back, he flipped me over on my stomach, leaving my legs hanging off the edge of the bed and partly on the floor. He moved forward, gripping tightly to his cock, and grabbed my ass and squeezed. I groaned, soaking in the pleasure and pain of his hands as he bent down and slowly pushed his cock into my wet pussy. I felt so tight and full, and I couldn’t help but scream out in pleasure.

He pushed his hand up under my body, sliding his fingers through my pussy. As his hips pushed forward and back, he spread my lips apart and rubbed my throbbing clit. I moaned, spreading my legs slightly, increasing the pressure of his fingers. I pushed my hips down, rubbing myself against his hand as he fucked me furiously from behind. He leaned forward and bit lightly at my back, sending goosebumps up my spine. I reached forward and grabbed the sheets, closing my eyes as I came closer and closer to an explosion. With my body tensing beneath him, he moved his fingers faster, slamming his dick into me over and over again. I screamed out, lifting my head from the bed and white-knuckling the sheets in my hand. My body exploded, waves of pleasure shocking every part of me, coursing through my veins and into my muscles. He groaned with the rush of juices flowing over his cock. He pulled his hand back, slowly sliding his cock in and out until the orgasm passed.

He pulled out and stepped back as I rolled over onto my back, whimpering and breathing heavily. I rubbed my hands over my face and giggled, knowing we weren’t done. I looked up at him and smiled as he stood there stroking his cock, watching me recover.

“More,” I said sternly, looking at him with dark eyes.

“My pleasure,” he said, walking forward and pulling my legs up over his shoulders.

He picked my hips up off the bed, and I balanced on my shoulder blades as he pushed his cock into me hard, holding it deep inside for a moment before pulsing his hips quickly inside me. I could barely breathe, it was so hot, my body rising in the air, my tits bouncing up and down as he held me there, slamming his body into me over and over. The sound of our bodies colliding echoed through the room, and I bit down on my lip, holding back the screams of pleasure that were fighting to emerge. He slowed his pace and leaned forward, kissing my lips. I put my hands up to his face and ran my fingers down his cheeks. He continued to move his hips, slowly pushing his dick in and out, the ripples of his cock vibrating against my pussy. He opened his eyes and looked down at me, breathing heavily. He pulled my legs off his shoulders, grabbed me under the arms, and pulled me further up the bed.

Our legs tangled, his cock still inside me as he slowed the pace. He put my arms above my head and intertwined his fingers in mine. We stared into each other’s eyes, nothing but raw emotion between the two of us. I had never felt that intensely about another person in my entire life. I felt like my chest was going to burst from the amount of love and passion that was inside me. He kissed me softly, lying still against my body, enjoying the feeling our skin touching. I untangled my legs and pulled them up to each side of him, and he seemed as powerless to look away from my eyes as I was to look away from his.

  “I love you,” he whispered.

Then he started to move, slow in pace, erotic in nature. He pushed his feet into the bed and ground his body against me as his cock slipped through my juices. He kept his eyes completely locked on mine the entire time, sending heat through my chest. He made love to me, slowing down and taking in every inch of me. I wrapped my legs around his waist as he pushed deep inside me and then slowly pulled back. I leaned my head back, gasping, his body rubbing my clit. I moaned softly as he kissed my chin, pushing just a little faster. I tilted my head back farther, still looking into his eyes as I climaxed. He groaned, pushing deep inside me as my pussy tightened around his shaft. He opened his mouth and breathed heavily, both of us reaching climax at the same time. We froze together, unable to speak, and sank into our orgasms, pleasure rushing through us.

When our bodies began to relax, he leaned down and kissed my lips, smiling at me sweetly before rolling to the side. Immediately, he wrapped his arm around me and pulled me over onto his chest, kissing the top of my head. I could feel his heart beating and his lungs expanding and retracting, and I couldn’t think of a better place to be.

“Do you think we will always be this perfect for each other?” he asked.

  “What do you mean?”

“My mom said she once loved my father,” he said. “So, I wonder if it will last.”

“Your father never loved anyone but himself,” I said, looking up at him. “You aren’t like that. You’re an amazing man.”

  “You’re right.” He chuckled. “I am, aren’t I?”

“I need to deflate that ego,” I said, poking him in the side.

“When we get back to New York, I have to figure out a place,” he said. “I can’t continue to live with John. It’s making us not want to be friends.”

“Living with someone can do that,” I said. “Me, I’m just holed up in my shoebox, waiting for the future to open up.”

He kissed my lips. “The future is here. And it’s all about me and you.”

  Chapter 39

  Mason

It was Friday, and we had a lot on our hands. Being back in New York City with Ava proudly on my arm was the best feeling in the entire world. She had gone out almost immediately after getting back and started looking at art schools. She toured several of them and told me about them excitedly over dinner. She really had found her niche with art, and I was glad because she was like a whole new person. Her spirit was free from everything that had been going on for so long. She loved all the schools she toured, but in the end, she settled for the art program at NYU, which was nothing to sneeze at.

“It’s a really great art program,” she said, fixing her earrings in the mirror in my office. “They have all kinds of different programs, and with the degrees I already have, I can quickly achieve a master’s in whatever I choose.”

“Do you know which program you want yet?”

“Not yet,” she said. “But I’m leaning toward art history with a minor in fine arts. Maybe I’ll get my doctorate and become a professor or something.”

“Doctor Spencer,” I said. “It has a certain ring to it.”

“I know,” she said, leaning up and kissing me. “It really does. Then you will have to call me Doctor Ava all the time.”

  “Is that right?”

“Mhmm,” she said, pressing her lips hard against mine. “Are you ready to go down?”

I kissed her forehead. “I am.”

My company had gone live, finally, and after the first day, I had thrown a huge party to celebrate the fact that we were up and running. I still couldn’t believe it. When I walked into work that morning, I kind of stood there in awe, looking at my future around me. I had Ava, I had the company, and everything was starting to settle in perfectly. Ava hooked her arm into mine as we walked through the quiet hall to the elevator. We took it down to the bottom floor where everyone was waiting for us.

“Are you nervous?” she asked, straightening my tie.

“Not with you by my side,” I said with a smile.

When the elevator doors opened, there w
as a room full of people standing there, clapping and cheering for me. Ava looked up at me with pride, her smile beaming from corner to corner. I loved the way she looked at me when she was happy for me. I never wanted that to change. I looked out over the crowd, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Everyone I had ever cared about was there to support me. They were all dressed in fancy clothes, holding champagne, ready to toast me and my new venture into the world of technology. I was really touched by the support that had been thrown at me ever since I went public with opening the company. It made me realize who was really there for me and how I had taken that for granted.

My mom and Ava’s mom were standing in the center with their arms locked, smiling at me with pride. I shook a few hands but walked straight over to them, knowing they were the ones who had made it possible for everything going the way it was. I shook Mr. Spencer’s hand and leaned in to kiss Ava’s mom on the cheek. My mom stepped forward and took me by both hands.

“I can’t even express how proud I am of you,” she said. “You did this all on your own.”

“Not on my own.” I smiled. “I had love and support from everyone in this room, including you. Without you and Ava’s mom making steps to mend the past, I would have never made it this far.”

“I love you, Son,” she said.

“I love you, too, Mom” I replied, hearing a collective sigh from the crowd and chuckling.

“Hey, I love you too,” John yelled out, making everyone laugh.

Blair and Ava were standing to the side holding hands, whispering, and giggling together. I walked over and kissed Ava on the forehead and smiled at Blair. Without Blair, Ava would have run long before she did.

“Congrats.” She slapped me on the shoulder. “I always knew you weren’t the douchebag everyone thought you were.”

  “Liar.” I laughed.

“All right, I knew when you chased her down in Los Angeles. Before that, I was just really hoping,” she said. “This is really awesome, though. I’m happy for the both of you.”

“Thank you.” I looked back over the crowd. “Everyone who’s important showed up for this.”

“Of course,” Blair said. “There’s free booze.”

“And shrimp,” I said, lifting my eyebrows.

She laughed. “I forgot about the shrimp.”

“Do you think your father will come?” Ava asked.

“No,” I said. Maybe when hell froze over. “I think this is the last place he would be. Whether he has good or bad feelings about my success, he will never again speak them to me.”

  “Are you okay?”

“I’m better than okay,” I said. “Who needs that in their lives when I have all of you?”

“I agree,” Blair said, lifting her glass. “And with that, I think it might be time for a speech.”

“No!” I shook my head as she ignored me and climbed up on the podium.

“If I can have your attention please,” Blair said. “The man of the hour, Mason York, would like to say a few words about the opening of his new company.”

“It’s too late now,” Ava whispered. “Blair will never let you off the hook.”

“That’s what I was afraid of,” I said, smiling at Blair.

I climbed up to the podium and thanked Blair, watching her leave the stage. I took in a deep breath and cleared my throat. Everyone fell silent and looked up at me. My eyes panned the crowd, finally landing on Ava, who was looking at me with adoration.

“I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight,” I said. “If it weren’t for each and every one of you, I wouldn’t have made it this far. One thing I learned along the way is that it’s important to follow your own path. Everyone in life has their own dreams, their own aspirations, and when I finally realized mine with the help of the amazing Ava Spencer, I knew my life would never be the same. Love—love from Ava, from my mother, from my friends and colleagues—is what made everything in my mind work itself to a point where I couldn’t look back. Never give up on love, no matter how hard it seems to get ahold of.”

I looked down at Ava and winked. She raised her glass and smiled, her cheeks red. She was my inspiration, the woman who moved me in a way I didn’t think was possible. I turned back to the crowd.

“I used to think the only constants in life were booze and women,” I said with a laugh. “Boy, was I wrong. Love is the only constant thing in life. Whether it’s the reuniting of two friends after a decade of despair, the connection of two people from the time they were old enough to talk, or the camaraderie even through fights between two best friends, love is always there. I know now that money comes and goes, that family isn’t always connected by blood, and that I will never go another day without love in my life and in my heart. It’s everything that has gotten me to this point and will continue to drive me into the future, wherever that may lead me. So, this is to dreams. May you never let them die, and keep chasing them. And to love, a constant in all of our lives.”

“Here, here,” the crowd said, raising their glasses.

  “Enjoy the party,” I added.

I climbed off the stage and clinked my glass with Ava’s. We stood back and watched as everyone mingled around, laughing, talking excitedly, and enjoying themselves. It was a hit. The whole night went off perfectly. Ava and I spent the entire time hand in hand, walking around the group. I introduced her as my girlfriend for the first time to some of the people I had hired to work for the company, and she shared a quiet moment with my mother for the first time ever. We were the perfect couple. We knew exactly what the other was thinking and were there to support each other. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what it would be like if she weren’t here. When the party wound down, we saw everyone out to their cars and watched them leave. We closed up the office and headed out to the brand-new penthouse apartment I had purchased after discovering I had been more responsible with my money than I’d originally thought.

We rode up to the top floor and walked in, throwing our shoes off. Ava smiled at me, walking barefoot into the living room and looking out over the city. I walked into the kitchen to pour us two glasses of champagne before joining her. I walked up behind her and kissed her neck, nuzzling my nose into her skin.

“Well, that went off without a hitch.” She smiled. “And I have to say, you were pretty good up there on that stage. That was an excellent impromptu speech. You have a talent for it.”

“I hate it.” I laughed. “But it was all from the heart, and I meant every word of it.”

“There are a lot of people who love you. That’s for sure,” she said, sipping her champagne. “Including me, of course.”

“That’s good to know.” I chuckled. “How do you like the new place? I got all the paintings hung up, and the furniture was delivered yesterday.”

“You have good taste,” she said with a smirk.

“You mean my girlfriend has good taste.” I laughed. “You know this means you’re stuck with me, because if you ever break up with me, I’m going to have to redecorate this whole place, and no one wants to see me decorate anything.”

“Mmmm, ping pong tables and a draft beer system?”

  “Something like that.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” she said. “Wouldn’t want a place like this to go to waste.”

“It’s awful big for just me, though,” I said, walking around the living room. “It’s really quiet when I’m here all on my own.”

“You could get a cat.” She smiled. “Or a hamster and listen to the sound of a squeaky wheel rolling all night long.”

“I think I’ll keep away from the furry animals,” I said. “I had something else in mind.”

“Oh, yeah? What’s that? A new AI?”

“I was thinking something a little more realistic,” I said, walking over to her. “I was thinking you should move in with me.”

“Really?” she said, swallowing her champagne. “Me? Move in here?”

“I don’t want to be away from you,” I said, smi
ling.

“I accept,” she said, tilting her head up. “As long as you keep your beard.”

“That can definitely go in the roommate agreement,” I said jokingly.

I leaned in and kissed her lips, pulling her close to me. She whimpered as the passion left my lips. I felt completely and fully at home. This penthouse had always been meant for the two of us. She just hadn’t known it until I’d asked her. That was why I had her completely decorate it. She was the love of my life, and there would never be another. After all that time apart, we had finally found ourselves back in each other’s arms. I’d gotten the happy ending I had been hoping for.

  Epilogue

  Nine Months Later

  Ava

I stood in the kitchen of our penthouse drinking a glass of wine and waiting for Mason to get home from work. Our relationship had been going strong, getting better as every day passed. I really didn’t know how I could love him any more than I did, and then he would do something wonderful, and magically, I was deeper in love with him than even moments before. He was everything I wanted in a partner, and he had been my entire life, even if I didn’t know it for a time. After he asked me to move in with him, he took me to the shoebox apartment in Brooklyn and packed up all my things. I was in the penthouse in two days, the fastest I had ever moved somewhere. We’d donated all of my furniture and kitchenware to charity since I had decorated the penthouse myself. Today was our nine-month anniversary, and we celebrated almost every month. We had been forced apart for so long that we didn’t want to take any chances, so we celebrated being together on every occasion we could. Tonight, we were going to go out to dinner, and Mason seemed more excited than normal. I figured he was happy to have some time with me since his company took most of it.
