Siv giggled. It was nice hearing her laugh again. He thought, just for a second, there was a butterfly in his stomach.
“So you’ll join?”
Christoph tilted his head, then shrugged. “And put do-gooders behind bars? Try and stop me.”
“Then how about we celebrate? Say…dinner tonight. My treat?” She was fumbling her hands as she spoke and Christoph saw the olive branch for what it was. The possibility of a third chance.
Why not? He was seventy-one years old and starting over. Definitely not too old. Taking her hands, he smiled. “It would be my honor.”

Author Notes
I thought about ditching this section. Most authors want to talk about what goes into the time and energy of writing a novel and my guess is most readers don’t care. They want a good story, not to hear someone go on about work, even if it is the fun kind.
Pardon my indulgence then if you will because I want to talk a little bit about superheroes.
I love superheroes and more importantly I love superheroes who choose to be heroic. I never jived well with graphic novels like Kingdom Come. I was more an All-Star Superman kind of guy.
Which is what made Gravitas such a surprise. It tapped me on the shoulder and refused to let go. So I sat down and wrote out his story. The story of a super villain who may or may not be a superhero. Then I sat on it for a while because just like Christoph I was scared. Scared of finding out I wasn’t all I thought I was. But now you are reading this and for that I have to say thank you. Love it or hate it, you gave this book and this guy (somebody you don’t even know) a shot.
