Until finally, Torq orders one of the brothers to lower him to the ground. Once he’s toppled in front of him, he grabs a hold of his hair, pulling him up so he’s half on his knees in front of him. Then, taking his bloody knife, drives it into his temples, giving it a good twist before ripping it out of his skull and letting his body fall limp to the ground.

He walks out of the warehouse, and I follow behind. I hear Bear order, “Take care of this.” I don’t know who he told, but it doesn’t really matter anymore. The deed is done and I trust these men with my life. I know they won’t fuck this up so this lands on us.

Outside, Torq lights up a smoke, almost inhaling the whole thing instantly.

“You good, brother?” I ask, stopping in front of him.

He takes a moment to collect himself, then looks at me. “I’m sorry about back there. I couldn’t stand there and listen to the shit he was saying about Angel.”

“Don’t worry about it. I got in a few good licks. But this was more about you and what you needed to do. Yeah, he took my woman, but he cost you more,” I tell him, meaning every word. I’m not pissed that I didn’t get to kill him. It was enough for me to watch my brother, my friend, take the revenge he needed.

Nodding, he heads to the van and begins to strip out of his blood-soaked clothes. Bear comes to stand next to me. “How’s our girl?”

“I think she’s good. They’re keeping her tonight, but she should be able to come home tomorrow.”

“Good. I’m glad,” he says, then slaps me on the back. “I’m headin’ back to the clubhouse. Need a beer, a fuck, and a bed. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

He takes a few steps, then I call out, “Bear.” I wait until he turns around before continue. “About what we were talking about earlier. I think it’s a good idea and I know everyone else will be on board too. We’re already all family and brothers, might as well make it official.”

Smiling, he says, “Good to hear. We’ll hash out the details tomorrow.”

“I have one request though,” I tell him, knowing I’m doing the right thing.

  “What’s that, brother?”

“I want a transfer. Think I’d like to stay here in Reno, if you’ll have me.” I can’t leave Amy and I won’t take her away from her family and friends. I couldn’t live with myself for doing that.

Bear comes up to me and takes me in a hug. “I couldn’t think of a better brother to have.”

“Oh, and one more thing,” I say before I let him leave. “I’d like Rack to take my place as president down in Texas. He’s the best man for the job. I know he’ll do you proud.”

“All right. We’ll discuss it more tomorrow, but I see no reason that can’t happen.”

I watch him leave and think about what needs to happen next. Things are coming together, but I’m needing one more thing. And that’s my woman on board with these changes.

  Amy

Waking up, I think about yesterday and all that has happened. I was so excited to leave this fucking hospital and be home after so long. But then my nightmare began. Scarface took me.

But he doesn’t scare me anymore. Not because I’m free from him, but because Ice Man was there. He saved me. Came rushing in like a knight all in black. I know that Scarface can’t hurt me anymore. I know it’s wrong, but I have a feeling he’s dead. No way the club would let him live after everything that he has done. And I don’t feel bad about it one bit. He deserves it and so much more. I hope Satan is raping his ass right now with a pitchfork.

Opening my eyes, I’m pleasantly surprised my head doesn’t hurt much anymore. There is only a slight ache now. I woke up right after they gave me an MRI in the emergency room and it was worse than I’ve ever felt in my life. The pain surrounded me. I could barely think. But the good doctor gave me some magic medicine that knocked me out and took away the pain.

I see movement out of the corner of my eye, and see Ice Man sleeping in the chair next to me. I have so much I want to say to him, but I don’t know where to begin.

He must feel me staring at him because he opens his eyes and the biggest smile overtakes his face. “How ya feeling, sweetheart?” he asks, standing up and stretching, treating my eyes to his delicious body. A body I know naked, and how good it feels when I run my hands all over him.

He chuckles. “Like what you see?”

Finally, I meet his eyes and match my smile to his. “You know I do,” I tell him, my voice a little rough from sleep.

“Well, then. Why don’t you take a picture. It’ll last longer.” He winks and then comes closer, sitting on the bed. But it’s not good enough for me. After everything that’s happened, I don’t want to waste any more time.

I reach for him and drag him down beside me. “Whoa, there, baby. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You won’t. Unless you don’t kiss me right now. I don’t want to fight and I don’t want to second guess anymore. I want you, Ice Man. Please don’t leave,” I plead, remembering the words I said to him last time we were in a hospital room together.

He leans his head down and gives me a short kiss. “I’m not going anywhere.” Then, he lays it on thick, giving me everything I wanted and everything I didn’t know I wanted with one kiss.

Pulling away, I search his eyes. I want nothing more than to be with him, but I’m a little scared it won’t work out between us. Everything with our relationship happened so fast; us meeting, our friendship, and then the passion. What if it fizzles and dies just as fast as it started?

He sees the turmoil in my eyes. “What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”

“I’m just worried that this isn’t real. I mean, I want you, more than I’ve wanted anything in my life. And I want this to work between us. But I don’t want something that will be hot and heavy and then us get tired of each other. I want something that will last a lifetime.”

That’s always been my fear because I can’t stand to be with someone more than a few months. Things always die down and then it gets boring. All the new wears off and everyone is miserable. What if that happens with me and Ice Man?

He just smiles and takes my hand in his. “We’ll last. What we have, Amy, it’s life changing and too good to not last,” he says with conviction.

  “How can you be sure?”

“Because you’re it for me. The way I feel for you, it will never die. I love you and am completely devoted to you, Amy. You’re my religion. I want to spend the rest of my life worshiping you, praising your name, and shouting my love for you at the top of my lungs. And that’s how I know we’ll last.”

Tears fill my eyes, but he’s not done yet.

“I already talked to Bear and he said I can tell you. But until the rest of the brothers know, we need to stay quiet. But Bear is going to patch my club over. No more Devils Crew, only Rough Riders. And I’m going to transfer. I want to live here with you. I want you to be my ol’ lady. Please tell me you want that too.”

Wiping the tears from my eyes, I know that this is right. And even though this is all new and we’re moving fast, I couldn’t care less. Not when it’s just so right.

“I love you too. And yes to everything else. As long as I’m with you, nothing else matters,” I say, then seal the deal with a kiss.

I don’t know what the future will bring, but I can’t wait to find out.

  Acknowledgements

I want to thank all my fans who have stuck with me from the beginning. I never thought I’d have readers who would read every book I put out there and still want more. I love what I do and you all make all the sacrifice, long nights writing, and stress worth it. Thank you all.

I also want to thank my family who stands behind me with my writing. I know things can get tough, especially when I’m close to a deadline and all my focus must go to my story. But you all understanding and letting me live out my dream of being an author means the world to me. I hope I make you all proud.

And thank you to my publishing
company who continues to publish my stories. They see something in them, in me, and I can’t thank you enough for taking a chance on a new author like myself.

And lastly, I’d really like to send a special shout out to my editor, Toni. Girl, you are so freaking amazing. I love how you can take something so rough around the edges and make it into something golden. Thank you for everything: for being patient with me, working around some of my life problems that came up and caused timeline problems, and just being a friend to me and caring about me and my family. Love you woman!

  About the Author

I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I have 2 older sisters and amazing parents. Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl, hanging out with him in the garage, fishing, and building stuff. I loved to play softball and swimming, but reading, telling stories, and writing were my passion, even at a young age. I took a break from writing for a while, but you could always find me with a book in my hand.

I have three children – two boys and a girl. They are my whole world. Even when I’m having the worst day ever, they brighten up my day and make me smile.

A few years ago, there was this story that would always play out in my head and no matter how many times I went through it, from beginning to end, it would never fade. So I decided to put it on paper. I didn’t plan on publishing it, but when it was almost done, a friend asked to read it. She said it was a story that needed to be shared. And that’s what started my writing career.

I love all genres of books, and even though I started with writing MC Romance, I have a whole book of ideas, so you can expect more from me than just MC, though romance is in my blood.

Even though I currently work two jobs, my ultimate dream is to become a full time author. I want to be able to spend my days filling pages with stories. I want to be the reason people find a reason to smile or laugh from lines on a page. Reading a book allows me to live in someone else’s shoes, even if only for a few minutes. It’s a way to leave my life and troubles behind and I want to be help others do that as well.
