In Love with My Brother's Best Friend: Complete Box Set

Chris wasn't happy that I was leaving so fast but was definitely looking forward to visiting as soon as he could. He loved the beach. That was his excuse, but he wasn't fooling me one bit. It was all about the guy he'd met the weekend of the wedding. He was pretty pleased with getting my car too.

Rachel and Cliff had gone out to dinner with us one night. They seemed so happy together. She was so surprised that I had fallen for someone from my childhood. That was because she had never heard much about Jackson through our friendship. I was glad that she had finally found someone that wasn't going to hurt her. At least that was my hope for her.

Jen had only been seeing her new guy for a little over a week. I wasn't sure how I felt about him. He seemed like a rough guy with a Harley and more than a few of tattoos. I couldn't say anything there. Jackson had a few of his own. She said that he tattooed for a living. He seemed a little intimidating to me, but I wasn't going to judge him. I'm sure people were going to have things to say about Jackson being with me as well.

My lease was cut short without any charges. At least that was what Jackson had told me. He said that he had a talk with the landlord about the building he was letting people live in, and the guy agreed to let me break the lease. I had a feeling there was more to the story, but I didn't ask.

I was more than thrilled when the plane finally landed. We were both tired from the long week. Poor Jackson was going to have to go into the office the following morning. I felt so bad for him. Watching him with his head back and eyes closed during the flight brought so many emotions to the surface. I knew I would do whatever it took to show him just how much I loved him and how important he was to me.

His driver was waiting for us and took us straight home. He grabbed the few bags we had checked that had some of my stuff and carried them up and into the entryway of the house before leaving for the night and letting Jackson know what time he'd be outside in the morning.

Jackson scooped me into his arms on the porch and stepped through the door before setting me on my feet again. I laughed hard as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

“It's so good to have you home,” he said.

“I can't believe I'm really here,” I said. “Thank you for being so good to me this past week. I don't know what I would have done without your help.”

“You worked and did all of the packing, Tiny. I didn't do nearly enough. I'm just glad I don't have to watch you fly off again. I still can't believe you picked me out of all of the men out there. I don't deserve you, baby. I never will. You are the perfect mix of everything. You're fucking cocky mouth drives me up the wall and keeps me on my toes. You don't do anything you don't want to. You have no idea how wonderful that is. You are a strong and independent woman. In the bedroom, you do exactly as you're told, and I wouldn't have that shit any other way. You are so damn sexy. I know that I will be buried balls deep inside of you every single day of my life and never tire of being with you. You're willing to talk through almost anything and compromise as well. You're everything I've ever wanted and so much more. I'm so glad you agreed to come home. I don't think me or my company could have survived another few months without you. Thank you so much for believing in me and picking up your life to come back.”

He locked the door, took my hand, and led me up the stairs. Jackson motioned for me to sit down on the edge of the bed, so I did. He walked into the bathroom, and came back out with a smile on his face.

“Up,” he said, as he took my hands and pulled me to my feet.

Then he very slowly removed each article of my clothing. He pulled me into the bathroom with a smile on his face. The lights were dim, and there were candles lit around the enormous tub. There was a floral scent filling the air. Bubbles filled the tub, and I could see the water moving from the jets. The air was warm and comforting. He held my hand as I stepped in and let my body get lost in the water. A low moan came from my lips.

“I want you to take a long, hot bath. When you're ready to come out, there's a towel on the warmer for you. Wrap it around those sweet curves and meet me out there.”

My head went back, and I soaked up every tiny relaxing bubble.

When I eventually got out of the tub, I wrapped the towel around me, opened the door, stepped into the bedroom, and gasped at the sight. There was soft, low music playing, rose petals everywhere, and dim, romantic lighting. Then I turned to see the doors open leading to the deck. It looked like tiny lights were flickering everywhere, so I walked toward them. As soon as I walked through the door, I lost every bit of breath I had left.

Jackson was dressed in a suit, and he was down on one knee. There were candles lit all around us. It was the most beautiful sight. It was dark, quiet, and just the two of us. He reached out his hand and I took it in mine trying to hold back the tears that were fighting to break free.

“I love you with all that I am, baby,” he began. “I know that you just moved in and we haven't even gone on one date, but I've been waiting for you all my life. I will spend the rest of my days taking you to fancy dinners, out to shows, and on amazing vacations. I want to chase you around and make love to you, be your shoulder to cry on, come home to you every night, take care of you, protect you, have babies with you, and grow old you with you. I want to take my last breath holding your hand and telling you that you're the most beautiful woman in the world. Will you make me the happiest man alive? Will you be my best friend, my partner, my lover, my wife, and my Tiny until the day I die?”

I looked down at him and the tears broke free, as I fell to my knees with him.

“I've wanted to be all of those things to you since I was thirteen, baby. You're the only man I've ever thought about. I want nothing more than to be by your side for the rest of my life.”

Jackson took my hand in his and slipped a ring on my finger. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him so hard.

“Aren't you going to look at the ring?” he asked.

I shook my head and kissed him again.

“It's perfect. I don't have to look at it to know that. You picked it for me. The only thing I want to look at right now is your face. I love you, babe.”

My dad wrapped his arm around me and pulled me from the thoughts. I curled into him and took a moment to collect myself.

The six months leading up to the most important day of my life seemed to fly right by. Andrea was still Jackson's assistant. It didn't take long for her to realize my man wasn't to be messed with. He took me to the office and introduced me to everyone there immediately. There were whispers from the ladies and smiles from the men. Everyone warmed up to me a little more each time I surprised Jackson for lunch. I really did appreciate the darkening windows and his sturdy desk.

Chris had been to visit many times, and had even brought his little girl more than once. He was still talking to the guy from the wedding weekend. They seemed to be going strong, and I was so happy for him. Jackson let him take the car each time he came to see us. I knew Chris enjoyed every minute of it.

I worked with Jackson on all of his charitable decisions and was so proud of the things he was doing to help others. He didn't want me to go back to work, and I was okay with that. I'd taken over most things at the house. He still had a driver, someone to care for the pools, and someone for the landscaping, but the inside of the house was mine. I wanted to take care of my man. He didn't need anyone else for that.

Everything was actually going very well for us. We would be leaving the next morning to go to Hawaii. Neither of us had been there, and we were both looking forward to unplugging from everything and spending some quality time together. It was going to be so wonderful.

My dad took my hand in his.

“You sure you're ready for this?” he asked. “You can still run.”

We both started laughing as we walked to the door just as Chris' daughter began her walk down the aisle. She smiled at Chris' date before looking up at her dad. I was happy that he'd met someone during that crazy weekend. It made up just a lit
tle for the amount of shit he had gone through for me. The man he'd found adored his daughter, and that made it even better.

Rachel followed her down the aisle. She'd found her love, and I was so damn happy for her. Her ex had gotten what he deserved, and she was starting her new life and family with a man that truly loved her.

Jen followed Tina. She'd brought her man along with her. They had been together a little over six months. He was still just as intimidating to me as when I first met him, but he treated her like gold. There was nothing he wouldn't do to protect that woman.

I knew all of my close friends were happy and had found someone to stand by their side. We'd all found happiness.

I took my step with my dad through the door, and my eyes connected with Jackson's. He shook his head, and a huge smile spread across his perfect face. I became more nervous with each step I took toward him. He took my hand in his and mouthed loving words to me. A tear left my eye before a word was spoken. We stood with our eyes connected the entire time. When it was time to put our feelings out there, Jackson took a moment to get his thoughts together.

“I've never wanted anything more than I've wanted you to be my wife, Tiny,” he began. “You sucked me in the moment you knocked me on my ass and every single day after. I know we had our moments, but I cared so much for you. No man was good enough for you. I made sure to chase them all away. I know we did things in a different order than most couples. I asked you to move in with me after only two weeks and to marry me two weeks later. Then I took you out for our real first date. Everything I have ever done was for you. I built a life I wanted you to be proud to be a part of. I can't wait to spend every single day for the rest of my life protecting you, taking care of you, and loving you. I will love you forever, baby.”

I rubbed the tears from my eyes as I prepared myself. Then I took a deep breath, took his cheeks in my hands, and looked into the dark eyes I looked at every morning when I opened mine and every night right before I closed my own.

“You're right about one thing, we did things different than most couples. We even made fun of my brother for how quickly he got married. Not a day went by in those ten years that I didn't think about you. Not all of those thoughts were good, but every one of them had feeling. When I saw you at Tim's wedding, I longed to be in your arms. I wanted you to want me. In that moment, I never could have imagined being in this spot just seven months later. Every single one of my dreams have come true. I'm so proud of the man you are, Jackie. It has nothing to do with money or business. It's all about you. The real you. The man I've loved since I was thirteen. You are the most amazing man in the world, babe. You are also the sexiest man I have ever seen. Thank you for never giving up on the thought of us being together. Thank you for coming after me. Thank you so much for every single thing you have ever done for the people I love. You've always been family to us. My mom, dad, brother, me, and the baby love you so much. Thank you for loving me, Jackson. I can't wait to be your wife for the rest of my life.”

The minister began talking, but I never removed my hands from Jackson's cheeks. After a few moments, I watched his eyes widen.

“Wait,” he said. “What did you say?”

I had already heard my parents whispering to each other and knew they caught what I had said.

“I love you,” I said with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. “We love you, daddy.”

His hand went to my stomach, and I nodded. Tears filled his eyes. We both looked back at the minister who quickly finished the ceremony and announced that we were man and wife. Jackson didn't wait for him to say you may kiss the bride before kissing me hard and hugging me tight.

“A baby,” he whispered into my ear.

  “Yes,” I said.

“I'm the luckiest man in the world,” he said, as he pulled back and held my face in his hands. “I'm going to be the best dad there is. Thank you for being mine, Tiny.”

He held his hand on my belly and smiled.

“I always have been, Jackie. I'm just as lucky as you.”

We wrapped our arms around each other and took our first steps toward a life so much better than I had ever thought was possible.

  The End.
