Soap Opera Uncensored — Issue 17 Page 5

Cartini would turn GH into SANTA BARBARA HOSPITAL! LOL. Poor Ingo Rademacher. Emmy-less soap hopper Robin Mattson is heading back to Port Charles, 'yo! The actress, who played the memorable role of Heather Webber from 1980-82 will return to deal with her son, Steven.

  - The big buzz is that Kate is suffering from D.I.D! And Kelly Sullivan alludes to it in this week's DIGEST.

  - In story 411, Maxie gets Liz suspended! And Matt's not happy about it. Expect one hell of a fight between the couple.

  - Hate Delores? Well, you're not the only one but that doesn't mean the actress will be the next newbie to be given a pink slip. Rebeka Montoya tweeted she's sticking around in the Port Llanview Police Department.

  - Calm down, Chad Duell fans! GH is not recasting the role of Michael Corinthos. A recent casting notice for a character sounding like Michael worried fans, but UNCENSORED has learned that the role is completely different. The show is looking for a talented young actor of any race to play a Spinelli-like character who will be a miniature Jason Morgan.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE - Foxy Blondies!

  - Purchase SOAP OPERA DIGEST this week to see pictures from ONE LIFE's viewing party held at New York bar, Blondie's, on the day of the show's final airing. Head writer Ron Carlivati joined some of the cast for martinis, laughs and tears.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS - Lane Re-Marry! Surgery for Muhney! Plus: More Firings On The Horizon?

  - Maria Arena Bell continues to cast her show in her own unique way. Catherine Back, the latest D-lister to join Y&R, tells SOAP OPERA DIGEST that she got the role of Anita because "our kids went to pre-school together." Looking on the bright side of things: at least Bell doesn't attend the same functions as the Kardashians.

And listen: we can't necessarily forget the fact that the influx of AMC actors on Y&R isn't all Maria's doing. After all, former AMC casting director Judy Blye Wilson is responsible for hiring actors now. Well, when Maria isn't attending concerts or picking up her kids at a spa.

In this week's DIGEST, one of my fave reporters, Mara Levinksy, interviewed Missy Claire Egan, who reveals it was Wilson who thought of her for the role.

Egan says, "Every element, one after the other, made me more and more excited - the character getting to work with people I know well, being on the No. 1 show." Yeah, every element except for your crappy, contrived storyline and one-dimensional character!

As UNCENSORED reported eons ago, another popular soap actress was originally tapped for the role but declined due to a conflict of interest.

Also, Egan attests she's "obsessed" with Amelia Heinle, which is funny because I think Egan could have made a fierce Victoria. She adds, "Billy [Miller] is like my second boyfriend that I don't get to make out with."

Oh, just pour him a shot, Missy! #kidding

  - Is Michael Muhney taking method acting too far? The best actor on Y&R is undergoing eye surgery today at the same time his character is blind. "I'm removing pterygium in both eyes and doing a skin graft," Muhney tweeted. You can say his talent is now 20/20.

Speaking of Muhney, is the actor misunderstood? Daytime Emmy Award producer James Romanovich (AMI) thinks so. He wrote on Twitter recently:

"Great guy. Love him to death. Very, very gifted. The written word can be taken literally, but if you don't have the context, then you could be misreading the intent completely. He is one of the most intelligent guys I have ever met. He has a great grasp of the language. He's passionate. He's a fighter. He fights for his art. He fights for his fellow actors and because of mostly him, changes were made in the Academy's voting process which was exceedingly flawed. Muhney was a huge advocate for change. Yes, on Twitter his tweets might seem harsh or callous, but that's his passion talking in 140 characters or less. He's not a nasty person. Not at all. He's very honest and tells you what he feels. But the challenges with Twitter can allow for many things to be misread. With highly intelligent people, the humor can be more sarcastic or more wry. On Twitter, fans may not see when he's being humorous. As an example, if I was in a fight, I'd certainly want him there because I know if he came, he'd have my back just like he did for Melody last year. I admire that greatly in him."

-In story 411, Cane and Lily are given the wedding of their dreams when Katherine, who used to hate the Aussie conman, flies everyone to Provence, France! Too bad an uninvited guest shows up to the romantic affair! Yep, Cane's naughty mom, Genevieve. But who cares? The real story is how gorgeous Christell Khalil looks in her subtle but gorge wedding dress by Monique Lhuillier. Glad to see Maria Arena Bell contributed something to Y&R this week!

  - Is there a mass cast cut coming up soon on daytime's largest cast? Sounds like it. Expect some of the riffraff to be gone sooner rather than later.

  - Tired of Angelina? I'm not. Don't tell anyone but I kind of dig Diana DeGarmo. In a sea of AMC and GL actors, the sassy newcomer's actually refreshing. Next week, Kevin has to explain to Chloe why he married the tone-deaf mob bimbo. Yep, Kevin tells Chloe he loves Angelina! And we all know he probably will sooner or later. Poor Greg Rikaart! Actually, I like "Kevalina," as they are called on Twitter. Look at a super cute photo shoot Rikaart and DeGarmo orchestrated in a photo booth at the Y&R holiday party.

  SOAP WHISPERER:

  This week's hottest blind items

  - Which actor is so cheap he makes his co-stars pay for every meal?

  - Which star's drinking problem is beginning to affect his performances for the first time?
