The Sword of Gabriel: Ten Days on Earth
Page 30
The heat resulting from the battle explosions warms California by ten degrees, and most of its residents come out to see where all the fireworks came from, looking toward the west. During the battle they could see massive star-bright explosions, flashes, and massive thunder, the firestorm thrusting way out into outer space. The power from the energy lit much of these outer limits of Earth. It was like a thunderstorm the size of Texas. The lightning strikes looked like falling stars—big ones!
I look at Anna, feeling awful. How bad can it get? I say to her, “I’m sorry you had to be part of this; you ended up being part of my world, the bad part, and I’m not sure how I can make it up to you. My world is terrible at times; the violence is never acceptable. Fortunately we survived. I know we’re late in getting you home; I am so sorry. We’re now heading to your house in L.A.” I try to joke: “Hopefully we’ll be there in time for you to get your newspaper.”
No comment from Anna, just silence. It was a bad joke and the worst timing.
I am worried about Anna. What could she possibly be thinking? I know she is alive as I can feel her mind.
“Anna, we need to find out tomorrow how your fellow citizens are receiving all of this, maybe catch the news. They may not be too happy with all of this? There may be some real issues.”
“Are you hungry? Are you feeling better? I know you took a real beating. Although it sounds crazy to ask you after all this, is there anything I can do to help? I can get you something to eat or drink, now or in the morning. Tomorrow morning we could have coffee and read the newspaper, have breakfast, relax, no starships. We will be human. I will even make you breakfast.”
No answer. I look closer in the dark, the cockpit red-lighted, and I see she is asleep. She has not been listening to me, must be worn out from the near-death and the entire trauma, all my doing.
Then she wakes up and shakes her head, looking at me, also looking really tired, says nothing, then goes back to sleep. The Saber is moving fast toward California. Not sure this all went well. Not sure what California looks like, and not sure anything is open for business. All the water and debris from the resulting storms will cause issues. There will be a lot of rain and moisture covering the Earth for several days. Anna is now back to sleep, half-curled-up in the chair, beat up, and exhausted. I slow down, reduce the Saber’s power, no rush now. I have to make a phone call, too.
Chapter 28
Repercussions
Back in Washington, DC, the president, the vice president, the CIA chief, Section 58 staff and John Jacobs, the FBI top guys, the National Security Council, the Senate Oversight Committee, key congressmen, all high-level generals of all the services, and all the cabinet members are crowded together in an emergency meeting in the secure room under the White House. The president is explaining what has happened, bringing everyone up to speed, briefing them.
The president was on the phone earlier in the night with the leaders of other countries, mostly allies, all in a panic about what had just happened out in the Pacific Ocean. He had called up the military and put them on continued high alert, depending on events and investigation of the whole affair. It was coincidental that they were already on high alert and have already been in high-level meetings.
All know about Iran and the bank payoffs. Most of the traitors employed by the United States government or the military have been arrested and are pointing fingers at their fellow conspirators. The FBI and the military have also rounded up many of the Iranian soldiers, who are now behind walls in a military prison, being interrogated. The hunt is on for the nuclear bombs.
They all found out who Henry Johnson is, which shook everyone. The long-awaited alien contact has actually happened.
China has confirmed they believe Henry Johnson is an alien, the real thing, no illusions or fabrication. His military starship is advanced thousands of years ahead of us and impossible to defend from any attack coming from it. Earth totally vulnerable. They agreed to stand down, bring their troops home. The United States promised to pay the Chinese back every cent in their currency values. No war needs to happen, thank God. It was too close a call.
Russia and Mexico also apologized. Neither of them could speak for Iran. Both were thrilled yet apprehensive about meeting with the alien, this Henry Johnson. It is a moment in history, changing everything. They have many questions. It is hard to believe; yet they all think it is real and a possible huge opportunity. Who would think this could happen in this way? Henry has answered many questions; everyone is now concerned about the future dealings with nonhumans. All wonder about Henry Johnson. No question, they are fearful of him, and they do not trust him, yet, maybe a link.
The president says, “I do not consider Captain Johnson human, not with the telepathy stuff. I felt his mental probes and know he could read my thoughts. Since the meeting we have asked one another about feeling weird, not comfortable. All of us agree the uneasiness started at the meeting with Captain Johnson. He may have been built to look human to gain our trust, yet we can only hope he really is on our side, as he is originally from Earth, and we believe that’s not a fabrication. Some understanding from him would be most beneficial, and maybe he would actually help us.”
The president told them about the London meeting with Captain Johnson. He says it is extraordinary that such a secret meeting was held in public—so confidential and classified yet held in London in a pub. Even more surprising, all current issues were resolved, including a possible World War. It was really odd, very last minute and amusing, as no one was too sure Mr. Jacobs had told Henry Johnson they were coming. The leaders of several major countries were all there, confused and in panic mode.
The president laughs and looks at Jacobs. “Well, John, I guess we all know now that Henry didn’t know about the meeting. It certainly shows some courage on your part! Good work, we all owe you as you may have saved the world, as we know it. Also, what is this Anna Summers thing? This Hollywood star is with Henry Johnson, in some kind of relationship? The commander of billions of troops is visiting here, coming on a military starship from trillions of miles away, and now it seems, dating her. Go figure. How did Anna meet him? How long has he been here? How old is he? If he leaves and something happens to Anna, what will he do? Would Anna talk to us? She must know a hell of a lot about this alien civilization. The two of them look like a couple, but how close are they?”
“Another crazy coincidence is Anna’s stepfather, Senator Sam Jordan. This is another problem, as he is in big trouble. Between his relationship with the Deforleo crime family and then the Iranians using him, charges for treason are possible.”
“And now we have this massive firefight in the Pacific that happened between aliens. Why? What does it mean for the future of Earth? Was Henry Johnson there? He must have been. Did he survive? Ten million phone calls or more—most did not get through; lines were jammed—were made this morning, asking us if the government knows anything about this obvious alien activity.”
“Everyone called to this meeting today knows about the massive military engagement over the Pacific and knows it was not of this planet; no question, there were aliens in battle, and they may be here now, still here on Earth. I waited for Section 58 manager John Jacobs’s completed report before I called this meeting together. He is the point man on this and has personally met with Captain Johnson on several occasions.
“John, please tell us what you have.”
John stands up, handing out his written report copies. He looks serious and tired.
Looking out at everyone, he starts out by explaining the state of affairs. “There has been confirmed possible alien spacecraft activities around the world over the last few days—an aircraft moving at supersonic speeds spotted in China, Britain, and France and across the United States. And apparently there has been a major firefight over the Mariana Trench in the Pacific by massive aircraft, probably ships that can only be spaceships with technology not of this world. The result was a terrific demonstration of their technolo
gy. Mega-energy direct-fire weapons were used, much more sophisticated than any known Earth weapons, which included nuclear-fusion guns and lasers. All are unknown weapons here, equal to a hundred atom bombs going off at the same time. There were possibly some dark-matter gravity weapons used also.”
“No one knows the results of the battle. Who was in it? Who was the victor, and is it even over with? No one knows yet the resulting total collateral damage to the world and to the United States, but reports are starting to come in. The navy has ships out there now examining the area, looking for debris, checking for radioactive waste and other damage. Fortunately we have no indication of radiation fallout. The dark-cloud layer over the world currently is weather related, and one result of the battle, plus the violent rain and thunderstorms across the world; and another, the frequent and severe lightning. The Pacific is a mess of heavy, choppy seas; there have been hurricane-force winds at times. Flooding is becoming more of an issue as the hours go by.”
The president interrupts, “John, please skip ahead. We need to know about Henry Johnson.”
John nods his head, and he is thinking, here goes, pausing, intently looking at everyone, as he stands there at the lectern. He hopes he does not screw this up. He had a call from Henry Johnson, his second call, and Henry was clear on what he should say and not say. Henry was also clear to make sure that his name is to be kept confidential, nothing going to the media and the public. Henry said he would know all that was said, which alarms John. He has to get this right.
“Gentlemen and ladies, I have an interesting report. Take the facts for real, as I believe they are authentic. As all of you know, we have had the London meeting with Henry Johnson and resolved a possible World War III situation with China, Russia, and Mexico. Iran was not there. First of all, let me warn you, all that is said today is top secret, classified, never to be repeated to either the media or the public. Also, Henry Johnson’s name is to be kept strictly confidential. Are we all in agreement?”
All nodded their heads, serious expressions, agreeing wholeheartedly.
“Gentlemen, I have received two phone calls from Henry Johnson—one yesterday and another one today, about two hours ago, which I will report on these discussions. Before I do this, please think about the situation. Strange as this sounds to those of you who know nothing about him, I believe Henry is half-human, part of our world, and yet half-alien, thus not part of our world. This could be good for us. He is our bridge to a new reality; he can help the aliens understand us, as he will help us understand the aliens. I think his possible relationship with Anna Summers helps this, too.”
He lets this sink in, looking out over many concerned faces.
“I am not sure about the planet he comes from; it’s just a long way from here. He could be a replica to make us feel more comfortable, less fear. Yet I think he is telling us the truth; as he says he is from Earth originally and was rebuilt, now half-alien, or part alien. We need his help as we are vulnerable.”
The president interrupts, asking, “First question: is this information in the report in front of us accurate? Has everyone read this?” The President is looking at all of them.
“Yes, Mr. President, I believe it is one hundred percent correct. I am sure he is part of an alien civilization from another galaxy. I have seen and know of recent events, which are all in the report in front of you. I think he really is a commander of many military fleets spread throughout the universe. I say this because he says he is, and I believe him. I think this is true for a lot of reasons, all listed in the report. Believe me or not, he is here. Per his words, I know he knows about all the recent activities and knows stuff about us in a way only an alien would know about—weird things, like everything we think about and everything we have that is classified. He knows about this meeting today and will know everything that is said or even thought about. He is completely telepathic. I think all the beings on his ship are telepathic and communicate that way. All are aliens, not from here.”
“They have all our databases, everything, and I think they can shut us down anytime they want to, even our military systems. So far they have supported us in all we have done. They have proved not to be our enemy. They have been here a long time, too, years of looking us over, coming and going without our knowing. He also says he is leaving in a few days, and I think is he is being truthful.”
“He says the firefight over the Pacific was as we thought: a battle between alien starships, and he says he was the winner. He says this enemy was our enemy, as they were what we would call pirates and could have destroyed Earth as we now know it. He says this specific enemy ship was destroyed; however, Earth is now known by other worlds because of this battle. He says he thinks we will need the protection of the Consortium of Civilizations, or we could eventually perish by some other rogue starship. He says he works for this Consortium that controls the known universe, and we need to apply for membership.”
John looks up, and everyone is looking at him in disbelief, like he is a crazy man.
“I know this is hard to comprehend, and believing it is difficult; however, it is all we have, and it fits our current situation. He also said we might not be accepted as a member of this Consortium. He says we have no other option. We need to try. Hopefully we will not be refused.”
“If and when inducted, we will be given the rules or laws to follow, and we can also then trade with other worlds, and we will be given the chance to buy starships of our own. The Consortium laws are somewhat simple but strictly enforced. Of course there will be changes; however, in the end, he says, we will be happy to be part of the Consortium. For example, war between our country and other countries will become impossible, as all wars will be taboo, or if it happens it will be a very short war, quickly ended by the Consortium. The leaders involved would be held responsible with penalties. The Consortium has a legal process, which would address issues between countries with lawyers and judges. Disputes would be resolved fairly with due process.”
“Another example of change is there will be almost no crime. No one will ever be without nourishment or shelter, and there will be tremendous enhancements of our technology. Additionally, social concepts with appropriate applications will be vastly improved. It will become impossible to hide from law enforcement or not to tell the truth. Our judges will have the use of mental probes, like the ultimate lie-detector test, keeping everyone honest and accurate. By the way, there is some kind of universe policeman appointed to us that enforces the laws between the worlds. We will also have an appointed representative from Earth who will be our representative in the Consortium’s Congress if we are accepted.”
“He says he will follow up with more details after the approval of Earth’s application to the Consortium. And yes, I know what you’re thinking: this is crazy, unbelievable, no documentation or any proof of this information being real. How do we know he is telling us the truth? The answer is, we don’t. I am not sure of anything except he has no reason to lie, and something big happened over the Pacific Ocean last night. Those of us who have met Henry believe this. The president will vouch for him, too.”
The president stands up, then steps back to the lectern. “Gentlemen,” he says, as everyone starts talking at once. “Gentlemen! Please be quiet. John, we have to have some verification. How do we know if any of this is true, if there really is a Consortium?”
“Yes sir, I told him the same thing, and he said we would have verification, as of right now, here at this meeting, that we would all believe.”
The president, startled, is now suddenly tired, drained. What now? He is starting to feel fear again, looking at everyone in the room, then saying, “John, are we in any danger here?”
The room is completely silent; all have looks of worry. The Secret Service guys pull out their weapons, saying nothing. Then a marble-size little drone satellite just appears in the room hovers in front of them. To everyone’s shock there is a voice in everyone’s minds. Everyone looks at one another and realize
s they are all hearing it, hearing it mentally, and panic is starting to set in.
At first the voice is really eerie, yet it becomes nice as everyone becomes used to it. It is calm and charming, giving a feeling of warmth and happiness, like going home for Christmas and sitting in front of a blazing fireplace. It feels so good; it feels almost religious, yet not spiritual, more like yoga serenity, much better than any church service. The crazy thing is the voice is clearly understandable in their minds, as in thoughts shared, like hearing a voice that feels comfortable, like coming from an old friend. The voice is saying, “Do not be afraid. I have news. The news is good. You will have new friends to meet. All will be well. You will be happy with all of this.”
The voice then announces, “First of all, I apologize for any fear I have caused. The drone you see is a communications slip, one of many, allows me to speak to you. You may know me; my name is Henry Johnson. I know you mentally as you hear my words. Just relax, and you will feel my emotions. I am here to calm you and answer your main questions. Am I real, and am I honest? Will you be harmed in some way? The answers are: yes, I am real, honest and no, you will not be harmed. I am here representing the other civilizations of the universe, and I welcome you in friendship. I wish you no harm, and I want to introduce you to our group, or, as we call it, the Consortium.”
“It is populated by trillions of beings throughout the universe, spread across the expanse of space—some in your galaxy and some in other galaxies trillions of miles from here. You are not alone and never have been. You are living in an old world, in an old universe over ten billions old, in a very young civilization, and you are also an outlier. This is because of your location in the universe and the lack of starship technology. Until now you have not needed us, as you’re an unknown off-world civilization; our connection was probably not in your best interest. But that has changed. You need to be part of us now. You are at risk. We can help you.”
