Enticed by you (Miraculous Love Book 1) Page 20

by Meghana Sarathy

“How is that? I am stuck in my desk,” I groan.

“That means I’ll have more fun. Anyway, this meeting is all about me teaching you basic DA validation. Something that will really help you out in your day to day work.”

“I already know that, thought I haven’t actually done it by myself before..”

I don’t complete my sentence as I get a message from him on my phone. I slide up the notification to read it.

“Groan like that again and you will be on my lap with my hands on your ass.”

  “Nate, what are you doing?”

“Like I said, I’m going to teach you in clear and elaborate why on how to test functionality using only DA tool,” he answers arrogantly. “Doing you a favor, madam.”

I reply to him even as I try to talk over the phone.

AWWWWWW. Is this the sound that excites you? You have to make me groan. Show me what those hands are capable of.

“You’re playing a smart game, Nathan. But I’ll manage. I’m capable of multitasking just like you,” I tell confidently.

“Game? I’m just mentoring you, Sara. I’m an expert at this. You still have a long way to go. Let me share my screen.”

Even as he starts to screen share, I get a new reply.

You already know what they are capable of. You did see them in action just recently. You’ll have to wait to experience just how they will manhandle the fine, creamy tissues of your pussy.

And it goes on. Crazy guy. He somehow manages to teach me and turn me on simultaneously. Twenty minutes into the meeting and I become a mere toy in his hands. Yet, I end up having the fun of my life.

  (Over emails)

  Hey Nathan Bankers,

I just got news that we will be having global PI meetings in conference rooms. Does that mean I get to actually see you in those fine suits, red tie, white cufflinks, barking off orders to your associates and being involved in heavy planning? I wouldn’t miss that..EVER..even if I have to bail on my sister for the holiday that she was planning

  Regards,

The Girl who’s really desperate to attend the PI sessions.

Hey Sara Waters, (The girl who’s just desperate to attend the meeting for one very important person),

PFA the tentative dates and agenda for the meeting. Based on our earlier conversation, your family vacation is planned for last three days of next week, right? Don’t worry. It’s my duty to ensure all my associates are satisfied- especially the ones that are most EFFICIENT in their work and always PLEASE me

“Small change in plans. I have an important family commitment in the next week. My absence in the PI meeting is inevitable. And there can’t be a meeting without Nathan Bankers participation.” I will be conveying this message to the other managers.

So consider this postponed. You enjoy your vacation.

  Regards,

  Nathan Bankers

(The one who always has a solution to all your problems)

  Hey Nate,

You’re the best best best Boss in this whole wide world. That’s why we employees love you to moon and back!!!

  XXX

The luckiest girl in this whole wide world to have a boss like you.

  Hey Sara,

Give me a list of all the books that you have written and published. I want to buy them all in wholesale. I recently heard that distributing them in local libraries will help budding authors like you. Let me pitch your name to the libraries here.

  Thanks,

  Nate

  Hey Nate,

Thanks a lot for showing interest in my books. That’s a great idea and I have been trying it here too. You don’t have to ‘buy’ my books. I can send you as many copies as you wish. Finish reading all my books, it would be the best gift you can give me.

  Regards,

Soon to be a famous author all thanks to a generous friend.

Hey, Ms. Best author I’ve read so far,

It’s the least I can do as a good friend (or maybe more than a friend). Let me at least buy my copies of your book. Your book deserves to be bought. I still think you have priced it too low. I will definitely read all your books, though it might take me some time. It’s a little difficult to squeeze time in between my work in the office, time with my kids at home and also a very beautiful distraction that I just can’t get enough of.

  I hope you understand.

PS: My daughter was asking for book recommendations. She is into romance and I was clueless. I did recommend your book, but it’s better if you talk to her. Shall I pass your number to her?

  Best,

  A lately distracted man

  Hey, Mr. Busy Multitasker,

I can totally understand. In fact, it so happens that even I’m a lot distracted by someone really hard to resist. So yeah, you can take your time.

My ebooks are priced at $3. That’s the average rate for an ebook. It’s not a book that is authored by you. If it were, then even if the book were to cost $20, people would still buy it. You should experiment with that.

It would be my pleasure to talk to your daughter and help her out. Feel free to pass my number.

  Thanks,

The one who keeps bugging (distracting) you

  Hey, Ms. Writer

Please. Book and me? It would be easier for me start my own business. I might in a long run.

I’ll tell Isla to talk to you.

  Thanks,

The one who has to get back to his work now.

  **********************

  Hey Nate,

You’re not online, but I know you are still working. Your emails are proof enough. I’m aware that there is a critical production issue going on, but it’s been two days in a row now and you’ve barely slept or stopped working.

Please take it slow. Leave the rest to the team. Get some rest.

PS: Not sure if anyone has told this before, but let me tell what I truly believe. You’re the pillar of our team. Without you laying the foundation, and acting as a constant brick wall we always lean on, the team wouldn’t have tasted so much success. You deserve all the credit and accolades for it. Even if you get bossy at times, you always have our best interest in mind and you never ever fail us. You have earned all of our trust and respect.

  Kudos to you!!

  Best Regards,

A loyal, proud and concerned associate of yours.

  Hey Sara,

Thanks a lot for your words. They mean a lot to me. I have received praises before, but no one had actually laid it out like you. These words- they have brought the biggest satisfaction ever! Made all my hard work worth it.

The issue is under control now. I shall monitor for a bit and take rest. You better sleep soon too. It’s way beyond your sleeping time.

  Thanks for caring for me,

  XXX

  Your Nathan.

My Nathan? There is no beating that. He’s mine. Only mine. And I’m his.

  **************************

  Hey Nate,

I know it’s late but I really want to talk to you and I can’t wait till tomorrow. You had told that until you message me first on phone, I shouldn’t, so I’m sending an email instead. Can you call me?

  Thanks,

  Sara

I send that mail, and check my watch. It should be around 9 PM his time. Not too late, so he should be able to call me, if he is not busy that is. He usually doesn’t talk to me during his family time and I have grown to accept it. It’s actually simple. I take whatever he gives and I’m more than happy with it. Nate is a family guy and this is the most I can expect from him.

Just after few minutes, my phone starts to ring. My face lights up seeing Nate’s name.

“Hey. Sorry for the short notice, but thanks for calling. I had to talk to you.” My voice quivers. It’s not like there is a big crisis, but I’m scared and the only one who can shine some much needed positivity is Nathan.

  “Shush, baby.
You don’t ever have to be so formal with me. And no requesting please. If you need me, no matter how small or big the issue might be, I’ll be there for you.”

His very voice is soothing and the conviction with which he says it is enough to slow my racing heart, but the flapping of my heart’s wings in delight by just hearing to him, never ceases.

“Thanks. You know exactly when to say what.”

“That’s because I know you very well, baby and just from your voice and silent sobs, I can clearly make out that you are damn tensed and almost feeling helpless. Haven’t I told you earlier? I will have the solution to all your problems. The implementer might vary, though.”

“Implementer? Really, Nate? Couldn’t think of a better word?”

“You’re the writer, not me, that’s your department. So tell me, what’s bothering you?’

“You might not have heard it yet, but I’ve been assigned the Centera project. It’s on me again.” My voice gives up on me and I end up taking a deep breath.

“Wait. Your problem is something technical? That got you so worked up? I’m an expert at it. First talk to Samuel, see if he can sit with you and show how it needs to be done. If that doesn’t help, I will make time for it and we’ll have two-three skype sessions on it. Got it?”

“Thank you. There’s more to it. I’m pretty nervous about it and not because it’s my first big technical project, but last time in production I had to cover up for Samuel and though he had explained, not sure what happened, and if you even remember, but it got messed up. We got into long calls. Business got involved. I was asked lots of question…”

“But no one blamed you!” he interjects me. “I remember that day. It was a long while back, but as soon as I returned to Seattle from India, I had to get on that call. Sara, I had even ensured back then that no one digs deep and doesn’t get your name in the mess, especially to the higher-ups. It wasn’t your work to start with. Samuel had an emergency, if not it wouldn’t have even come in your plate. Come on, Sara. You had no experience in it.”

“But still, Nate, I messed it up once, and that has honestly left me shaken. I’m just skeptical now. Even before I start, people will have an eye on it, waiting for me to mess up.”

“That won’t happen,” he reiterates. “You give you best, Sara. I know you can pull it off. And any step you falter, you have me to back you up. So without worrying about a damn thing, be strong like you always are and take it up confidently. You have my word. You will finish this successfully. “

“Nate, talking to you helps me a lot! Your mere presence is a medicine to me. I needed this push. I really did. I’m not usually this weak, but after learning about your confidence and belief in me, my own confidence got rejuvenated. You’re the best.”

“I know,” he whispers hoarsely. “But that’s because we extract the best in one another. And we also extract…”

“Orgasms.” This time I complete him. “I know, I know. And Nathan, thanks for helping me back then. You jumped in as a hero, handled the situation, came up with a clear solution and executed it smoothly. I was too panicked to even analyze and reason how things were solved and your contributions towards it. I was on multiple calls during that time, and couldn’t really appreciate your help back then.”

“I’m sorry that you went through all that, Sara. I wish I could take it back.” He sounds so sincere and even guilty. It’s not at all his fault and yet.

“Enough of sorry and thank you. I think it’s actually fate, destiny. Never have been a great believer of it, but I think we were just meant to reach this stage. Together.”

“That’s a nice way of looking at it. If fate’s behind bringing us together, then I’ll thank fate every single day for giving me such a beautiful gift. You’re priceless, Sara. Precious. A true Gem. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.”

“I jus..” I stammer. “I’m overwhelmed, Nate. All I can say is, I love you. I love you a lot.”

  “Me too, Sara. Me too.”

  Chapter 16

  Nathan

“So tell me, Nate. How are things going? Cecilia met with me before her trip. She didn’t delve much, but she seemed very excited to go on that trip. That didn’t seem right. Ideally speaking, such level of excitement should be seen for her trips with you. It almost felt like she was…..”

“Running away, needing space,” I tell, bored. Dr. Matthews, who has been acting as our marriage counselor for three years now, states the obvious. Not that his techniques or recommendations are bad and not worth it, but sometimes they are pointless. They don’t really help. I don’t even see the point of these sessions anymore. We started going to him on Cecilia’s recommendations when she wanted to work on our ‘husband-wife’ relationship. As per her, we were already certified as good parents, but she wanted us to be a good couple who communicated well and spent some non-sex time together as well. She felt we were growing distant and couldn’t see any growth curve where our wedding was concerned. That’s when Dr. Matthews came into the picture, recommended by her dear friend, and it wasn’t Serena. If it were, I wouldn’t have been sitting here, attending the monthly sessions. I didn’t even want to come today, considering she wouldn’t be joining, but she sent me a reminder to attend and here I am, nodding to the obvious, but still listening.

“You’ve always been a clever man, Nathan. You don’t need any form of counselling, do you?” This man, whose hair has greyed along the edges and is nearly my age, is pretty insightful.

“Not true. I fuck up, Doc. I’m far from perfect. Listening to the perspective and words of an insightful, wise man does help at times. Not denying it.”

“Glad to be of help.” He smiles. It’s not coy or sardonic. Seems genuine.

“There is always a but,” I deduce and he nods all knowingly.

“You are clearly not helping yourself. You know what to do, what needs to be done but you’re not actually making an effort to do it.”

“You want to know why?” I ask with a shrug and lean back on the couch. He sits across me, hand propped on his knees, analyzing.

“It was just a question. I would start with a yes or no. But going by your laid back attitude, I can safely guess that you don’t even want to try and nothing I say will be making a difference.”

“Not yet.” I sigh. “Once she returns, I will try. Try to be more forthcoming, accommodating, understanding. We will make a decision about the baby together. Until then, I believe it will be good for her to have some fun time. We shouldn’t always let life and its problems butt in our fun. We all deserve some fun time”

He doesn’t speak for some time and I can tell that the wheels in his head are churning. When we started three years back, I decided to settle for an honest approach and told him about my sexual endeavors before marriage and the two one night stands I had post marriage. It was my decision back then to stop it for good. I came clean in front of Cecilia and she gave me another chance to right my wrongs with a promise. A promise I had successfully kept until Sara. Strictly speaking I haven’t broken the promise yet, but seeing how things are progressing with Sara, it won’t be long now.

He just raises his brows, prodding for me to continue.

“What gave me away?” I enquire, though I know it very well. I’m very cautious about my words. A part of me wanted him to pick on it and question me. As per my observations, Dr. Matthews is good in keeping secrets. It’s a part and parcel of his work. He can’t disclose secrets without our prior approval.

“Fun,” he replies honestly. “It’s the same word that you had used while describing your extra marital endeavors, which you had indulged in nearly eighteen years ago? I wouldn’t do the mistake of calling it an affair again.”

The last time he had termed it as an affair, I had spoken in lengths about why it can’t be termed as one. They were always a one- time thing. But what I’m doing now seems more like it, but I haven’t come to terms with it myself. How should I explain it to him?

  “Smart.
But I never said there is no fun in an affair. It’s just that the converse is not always true.”

“Well, Nathan, ff you already have everything clear and sorted in your head, just stop playing dumb by giving clues and, instead of me getting it out of you through my questions, save us both the trouble and make the confession.”

“Confession?” I scoff. Sara loves it when I scoff. She makes me do it so often. She knows exactly what to tell to get the required responses from me.

“What exactly would you term it? Your side of the story? Wait, has it got anything to do with Serena?”

I sit up straight. “It has got nothing to do with that issue. That’s all Serena’s doing. I’m against her using my wife for her selfish motives and I have been vocal about it to Cecilia. She knows my stand about the issue.”

“I know that and she did speak to me about it. But respecting your wishes, I won’t bring Serena into this again. You had clearly told me the first time itself that you will handle Serena and you won’t let her come in between you and Cecilia. You had asked me to not interfere with it. Cecilia did ask me for advice. I refused her, asking her to talk to you, instead.”

“Thanks, Doc. Serena is a rather delicate issue and it’s better for me to handle her on my own.”

He waits for a beat before starting his questioning spree. “Without sidestepping, let’s get straight to the point. Firstly, regardless of Serena and the baby issue, my guess is Cecilia expected you to stop her or at least offer to join her for few days.”

Running a hand over my face, I regard him with a tired gaze. “Perhaps, but still she was being unreasonable. I can’t stand Serena, which she is aware of and secondly, my work doesn’t permit me for such short notice holidays.”

“She’s aware of it Nathan, but offering would still mean a lot to her,” he explains.

“I understand that. But I can’t be so impractical and give her false hope just to please her. She should know this about me by now. In fact, I wasn’t in favor of her going for two whole months. I expected it to be shorter, but I do strongly believe that some time away will do her good.”
