Caden was supposed to be a fling, but his game with getting me was on another level. He took his time listening and learning about me. And he didn’t do it to get in my panties, he could’ve had them weeks ago. Just being in his damn presence made me horny, he had to feel the heat radiating from my body every time he came near.

No. This isn’t a coincidence. He has a plan and I’m a part of it. And this isn’t something simple and quick. He’s in it for the long run.

Or was it just my heart hoping for that? I sighed as I made it to the bottom level. Silence moved through the house. It looked like his staff hadn’t even shown up yet. With the sun just creeping through the sky, it was probably too early for them to arrive. That was good. I only wore a thin white gown that hid everything but with a closer look, barely hid anything.

I could do a quick in-and-out of a crowded room with no problem, but if I lingered around someone too long—they’d make out an areola or two and a shadow of an upside-down triangle between my thighs.

Caden’s voice came from the kitchen. “No, I sent the package. It will be there by 2100 hours.”

2100 hours? Interesting. He’s using military time?

My dad had served in the Navy and refused to ever speak in regular time. It was always,

“Be up at 800 hours!” and “Chow at 1800 hours on the dot. Get it together!”

“He’s scared of a revolution,” Caden continued. It sounded like he was on the phone since no one else responded. “He should be. That’s what you wanted. He’ll be desperate to work with anybody. His people are scared.”

Revolution? People are scared? What does Caden do?

As I walked into the kitchen, I wondered if Caden had been in the military and still somehow worked with them now. Dad had become a police officer but considered applying with civilian agencies that worked with the military.

“He’ll do what all presidents do.” Caden looked my way as I tiptoed to the cupboard. “He’ll bend the way we tell him to bend. Don’t worry about that.”

I mouthed the word, sorry and pointed to the tea cup that I pulled out. I doubted he even noticed. His gaze moved slowly along my body, drinking in every curve.

“Everything will go as scheduled.” He bit his bottom lip and drank me in some more. “I have to go. It’s an emergency. No. It’s personal.” He hung up and glared at me.

Fuck. He looks pissed. Maybe I shouldn’t have come in while he was on the phone.

I held the cup in mid-air. “I’m. . .I’m sorry. I just wanted to make some tea. I’ll be out of here shortly. In fact, I can leave now or—”

“Are you wearing panties?” Rage blazed in his eyes.

  “Umm. . .”

“It’s a simple question.” He set the phone on the table and rose from his seat. “Are you wearing panties, Dawn?”

  I tensed. “No.”

He prowled towards me. All I could do was hold the dumb cup in my hand as my heart boomed in my chest.

In seconds, he stood right in front of me. “I’m trying to be a gentleman.”

“I…I just came down to make tea.”

“With no panties on?” He licked his lips and guided his gaze down to my breasts. “And no bra.”

My nipples hardened and poked against the thin material. “I don’t sleep in either one.”

“You should probably lock your door tonight and not come back down here like that again.”

I blushed. “Are you saying clothes, or the lack of them, force men to do bad things?”

“No, my little feminist, I’m a proper man. I can control myself, even if you’re walking around me naked. Your body is your body. It’s just. . .” He placed his hands to each of my sides, brushed against my hips, and set his hands on the counter behind me, trapping me into the small space in front of him. “It’s just that I will have nasty thoughts in my head even more when I’m around you and I thought I was doing a good job of keeping them out of my head.”

I blinked. “What do you think about?”

“Put the tea cup down,” he ordered.

  “Why?”

“Because you can sip your tea after.”

  “After what?”

He captured my lips and snatched the tea cup from my hand. I fell into his kiss, even after the sound of porcelain crashing rose around me. Caden had simply thrown the cup to the side, instead of taking the time to place it on the counter. And I didn’t give a damn because, after three weeks of dreaming about his mouth, I’d finally had those lips on me, luring me into a wicked dance with our tongues.

“Do you know how hard it’s been to keep my hands off you?” He molded his hard body against mine, gently pushing my behind into the counter and groaning. “I want to touch you, baby. Can I?”

He said baby like I wanted to say give me that cock now! The damn word throbbed all through me.

  “Touch me, please,” I whispered.

He grabbed my hips, tenderly squeezed them, and then lifted me onto the counter. “Do you like this nightgown?”

  “Yes.”

“Then I’ll buy you a new one.” He tore the top away.

I gasped as my breasts flopped out and jiggled in front of him.

“I want you to be mine,” he whispered.

My breathing sped up. My nude breasts rose and fell with the action. His gaze pierced mine as he lifted both hands and cupped my breasts. “Have I made that clear yet?”

I didn’t have any words. All I could do was whimper as his thumbs and forefingers surrounded my nipples and tugged on them, sending pangs of intense pleasure straight to my womb. Everything tightened and coiled.

“I want you to be all mine.” He buried his face between my breasts, sampling each one and driving me to the insane edges of horniness.

I cried out as he sucked on my nipples. So hot and wet, the suckling destroyed all the walls I’d built around my heart. I craved him and couldn’t deny it. My body told him everything. He pushed me backward, worshipping my breasts. He slipped his hands all over me. He was skilled, curling his tongue around my nipples and talking shit the whole time.

Confidence dripped off that skilled tongue. “You love this, don’t you?”

My voice came out weak. “Maybe.”

He groaned, tore more at the top of my night dress, and nipped at my breasts, licking with maddening confidence.

I cried out, unable to take it anymore. “Fuck me.”

  “Say, please.”

  “Please,” I moaned.

“No.” He lapped at them again. “I’m still not convinced you understand.”

  “Understand what?”

“That I want you to be mine.”

  “I do.”

  “You don’t.”

  “I want you.”

  “Show me.”

“Touch me right here.” I grabbed his hands and placed them between my legs. Arousal dripped all over my thighs. “See.”

A sound escaped his mouth as he pushed his hand further and teased my moist folds. I wasn’t sure if the sound came from rage or hunger. His lids drooped over his eyes. “Open your legs wider.”

I couldn’t deny him. I did as he ordered, spreading them out as much as I could. My sex lay bare before him.

He inhaled. “I wish I had my phone. I want to take a picture and post it all over social media. You know what the hashtag would be?”

Flushed, I arched my eyebrows. “What?”

“Hashtag prettiest pussy in the fucking world. Hashtag breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hashtag the moment I decided to make her my wife. Hashtag forever mine.”

  I swallowed. “That’s a lot of hashtags.”

Biting his bottom lip, he touched my pussy and began fondling my clit with two fingers. Moans ripped from my throat. So slick, my wet folds ached for more. His finger’s rhythm captured all my attention. I couldn’t turn away or even be lost in his eyes. Each time he plunged those fingers inside of me, it drove me crazy. Tension built knots throughout my body and they were pretty damn
close to unwinding and exploding all over his hands.

I gripped the edge of the counter and cried out, “Caden.”

His forearm muscles flexed as he finger-fucked me harder with two fingers.

“You’re such a naughty girl.” He dipped his thumb lower and circled my opening. “You just won’t let me play my good boy game.”

“Maybe, I want to play the bad boy game.” I reached for his cock.

He batted my hands away. “No. You’re not ready for that side of me.”

  “Please. Let me see it.”

  “Not yet.”

I widened my eyes and teased. “Because it’s small?”

  His jaw twitched.

“Aww. I know.” I bit my lip. “Because you don’t have one.”

He unzipped his pants and pulled it out. That fat length appeared in front of me. I reached out to touch that beautiful cock. He batted my hands away again.

I fake pouted. “I want it and you said you would take care of me this week.”

He put his cock back in his pants. “You don’t get that until we have a long conversation.”

  What the hell?

  “Caden,” I begged.

He returned to dipping his fingers into my sex and driving me wild. I couldn’t even protest. His fingers felt so good and my body begged for any form of release.

  “Caden,” I moaned.

“Say it again.” He picked up his fingers’ pace and sucked on my nipple.

  “Caden.”

I came. Climaxed. Exploded. Lost my breath. Lost my sight. Went numb and then full of pleasure. All those things and more. An orgasm hit me so hard the feeling was out of this world and he’d just done it with his fingers in a few fucking seconds.

What did that mean? Did he know my body that well, or was he too fucking much for me to handle?

Not stopping, he toyed with me the whole time as the orgasm poured all over me and I bucked into his hands as if his cock lay right there.

“Yes,” he whispered as I finished. “Yes.”

I panted. Wet arousal smeared all over my thighs and the counter. It was wet all around me.

Caden dipped his index finger in again. My sex trembled around him. A tremor ran through me. Slowly, he pulled the finger out of my sex, raised it to his mouth, and sucked on it.

“Damn,” he groaned for several seconds and hit me with a heated gaze. “That’s my pussy right there.”

  “I…I don’t know—”

“That wasn’t a question, Dawn.” He tenderly grabbed the back of my head and pulled me into an intoxicating kiss. “Go back to your room.”

He stepped back and grabbed the hard length pushing against his jeans.

“Why? Are you going to give me that dick or tease me some more with your fingers?”

“No, you’re not ready for that yet.” He gripped his dick harder over his jeans. “You’re going upstairs to get dressed so that my staff doesn’t see you half naked and I end up firing them all. And while you’re getting dressed, I will make you tea.”

I frowned. “But I want your dick. Not tea.”

“No.” He backed away some more. “You’ve already been a bad girl this morning. I’m trying to be a good guy. You won’t get rewarded anymore.”

  Is he serious?

We stared at each other for several quiet seconds, neither willing to look away. The whole time he gripped his length as if he couldn’t let go.

A smile spread across my face.

  “Yeah,” he whispered.

I leaned my head to the side. “Yeah, what?”

“Yeah, you have all the power. I’m just trying to hold on to my dignity before you pussy-whip me.”

  Chapter 23

  Caden

Dawn had already met with Freddy in the museum. I hung in the back and watched it all, coming out when necessary. I let Dawn go back to the hotel by herself. Her security detail kept me up to date with her as she rested.

That Freddy was a determined cat. The closer I got to him, the more I was starting to like him. Too bad he’d fallen in love with the wrong woman.

She knows Max isn’t dead, but it doesn’t matter anymore. She’s out of danger. What’s done is done. She’s mad, but she’s safe.

Ready to come up with some bullshit excuse about Max and who the dead body in his apartment could be, I opened her hotel room door and walked in.

But again, the news saved me.

And this time, it wasn’t a fake recording that I had playing on the television at the right time. Yesterday, Dawn had been correct about us getting room 333 on purpose.

I’d watched her so much. I could guess her future steps better than her. I knew she wouldn’t go into Max’s apartment if it smelled like a dead body. I’d had my men put a stranger’s corpse in there to stink up the place. Had she peered inside, she would’ve seen some ungodly dead man with a messed-up face. I hadn’t wanted it to get that far. Shit like that would’ve given her nightmares.

Thank God, she didn’t step inside.

I’d contacted Max weeks before that moment, bought his place, and asked him to introduce me to his brother. Not much of a loyal guy, he agreed to the deal if I paid off his debts to a few casinos around the world. For me, it was no problem. Half of the money in the world was just numbers on a screen, nothing real at all. It had been decades since a dollar equaled a gold bar. Now it was all about who could get computer guys to fuck with electronic numbers. And I had a ton of them at my disposal.

I now owned Max’s apartment and that was when the game begun. The mission was to lure Freddy and her out of Miami. The lucky bastard, I only saved him for her.

Let’s hope Freddy doesn’t make me regret that.

Everything had been planned—even from her going to the suite, the fake news recording on Max, my guy coming in to announce that Freddy was going to DC, and then her rushing off with me to DC. It all had worked out perfectly.

I closed the suite’s door behind me and glanced at the television screen. Too bad this time, the news was real.

Now that she knows what happened to Miami, she probably won’t give two shits about me lying about Max.

I doubt Dawn knew that I walked in. The news had captured her full attention. And for me, it was hard to look at the destruction playing on the screen. Guilt carved more holes into my chest. I dragged myself away and made myself look at Dawn. “How are you?”

With her mouth open and tears streaming down her face, she stood two feet in front of the television screen and drowned in pure fear.

“Today marks the most dangerous terrorist attack yet,” the news reporter said. “Miami International Airport was bombed this morning. Details of the attack are not known yet. However, authorities are saying that there are over five hundred injured with more than two hundred confirmed dead bodies found in the rubble.”

If I’d had a heart, it would’ve banged or beat with guilt. But I was a monster and lost my humanity long ago. Money and power were fucked up that way.

I stared at Dawn, unsure of what I could do.

She clutched her chest. Anxiety swam in her eyes. It was the normal reaction to news like this but still, I hated it.

“Due to the heavy winds and the oncoming tropical storm, fire-blazing debris has shifted from North to South Miami and caused further fires and property damage. The Mayor has asked residents to stay in their homes until the streets are reported to be clear.” Even the news reporter looked like she was going to cry. “All inbound and outbound flights at Miami International have been canceled for the week. The nearest airport, Fort Lauderdale, has also canceled their flights and are investigating security measures in their airport as further information on MIA is given.”

Dawn stepped closer to the television. “Th-that’s. . .”

  “Where you live,” I finished.

“Yes.” She hugged herself. “Something. . .”

  “Could’ve happened to you.”

  “Yes.”

  You were in danger.
I had to get you out of there, even if I had to play this bullshit game to get you away.

“Why?” She shook her head. “Why would somebody do this?”

Pain filled my heart, but I had to let it go. A cold numbness took its place. How could I explain to her about the real workings of the world? How there were greedy men behind the curtain of our government, gripping and yanking politicians’ puppet strings.

What would I tell her about the airport attack? How I knew about it. How I saved and cleared out as many people as I could. Even her precious Max and Freddy. Would she be relieved and think I was a hero? Or would she know I was still a monster because I let others die when I could’ve saved them all?

But then I would’ve died because everyone would’ve known it was me that told.

These men were not the type I wanted as enemies. I would’ve rather had every Italian and Japanese mafia in the world gunning for me, then to have people like the Rothschilds and Rockefellers pointing their old, greedy fingers my way. They owned countries and governments, executed the sickest, most fatal wars due to craving more money.

What was one man against psychotic, greed-filled giants?

  Nothing.

“What the hell is this world coming to?” She fisted her hands. “Fear and terror all the time. People are shooting up places and the president doesn’t care. People are poor and jobless and the Senate and House don’t give a damn.”

I walked up to Dawn and hugged her from behind, hoping she’d let me just this once. She did. Her frame shook against me. So soft and warm, I wanted her away from this fucking television and her laying in my bed.

“You can’t let this stuff get to you.” I turned her around.

“Hundreds of people died. Of course, it’s going to get to me.”

“Dawn, this is the way of life, people live and die. Close your eyes to the world and breathe.”

“Are you serious?” She climbed out of my arms. “You don’t feel—”

  “I do.”

“You didn’t know what I was going to say.”

“I did and I do. I feel bad for everyone who died and the families who lost people today.” I pulled her back to me. “But what you have to focus on is that you happened to not be there and missed it all. You’re alive. That’s a good thing. It means you can fight the good fight.”
