“You were supposed to come into homicide today to pick up your paperwork. I notice it’s still on your desk.”

My jaw dropped and I stared at Esmy. “I wasn’t notified—”

“Damn typical. Are you all the way home, Detective, or can you swing by today?”

  “I…I’m home…”

“Damn. Well, according to my schedule you’re off tomorrow. I suggest you swing by, see me, and we can chat and then you can go clean out your old desk. You’ll be at your desk on the third at oh-eight-hundred, and you’ll be working with McMurdo. Understood?”

  “Yes, ma’am. Perfectly.”

“Excellent. And congrats, Gianvittorio. Well done.”

The phone clicked off in my ear, and I just stared at it. I looked back at Esmy, then back at my phone, then back at her. She looked completely confused and worried. I dropped the phone on the nightstand and crawled back over to her, looming over her wonderfully naked body.

“Wanna fuck?” I teased her nipples with my chest.

  “Well, yes, but…”

“I have to report to homicide tomorrow.” I grinned. “For my new assignment.”

“Detective!” She cawed, her eyes growing wide.

I leaned down and kissed her hard. “Maybe this year won’t be so bad.”

  Esmy smiled. “Maybe not.”

  Two weeks later...

I felt him looking over my shoulder, crowding my—our bathroom. I gave him an evil eyebrow and turned away so he couldn’t see what was in my hand.

“Come on, Esmy. That’s not fair.”

“Hush, you’ll find out when I do.” I eyeballed him. “Aren’t you going to be late for work?”

“I only had a report time that first week for my training. Once McMurdo and I set up shop, it’s up to us when we get in. We’ll have late days and early days. Miranda is insane, but a good kind of insane, and McMurdo seems like a good guy to work with. Is it time yet?” He clawed at my hand.

“Stop!” I laughed. “Yes, it’s time. Jeez.”

I flipped over the pregnancy test. We peered at it and smirked. “Told you. Negative.”

“Oh.” He pulled back a bit. “Okay, you were right.”

Through the mirror, I studied the incredibly handsome man I had a miracle second chance with. “Are you disappointed?”

He walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. “Maybe. A little.”

I raised another eyebrow and turned in his arms to peer up at him. “Really?”

Lowering his voice, Mike sounded a bit diabolical. “I want to see your belly grow fat with my child.” He added an evil laugh.

“Okay, never say that again.” I punched him in the shoulder.

“Honestly, though? Yeah. Kind of am.”

I put the test on the counter. “Honestly? So am I.”

“Let’s get married and make babies.” Mike grinned.

  “Married?”

“Okay, so I just proposed in a bathroom, didn’t I?”

“Yeah, you did. Two weeks after we reconnected.”

He waved my concern again. “Please. We fit.”

“We do fit, and I especially like when you fit that cock in my pussy.”

“That’s not helping me…” He grunted.

“Ask me again tonight, in front of your cop buddies at the Crate and Barrel.”

  “Cask and Barrel.”

“Fuck me right now, and I’ll say yes.”

He tossed me over his shoulder and headed for our bed.

  Alexis Noelle

I love reading romance books! I feel like being able to lose yourself in a book in one of the more exciting aspects. The books I love to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters. You should have an opinion on every character in a book. Whether you love them, hate them, or think they are up to something.

I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. On top of starting a writing career I am a full time student, and a full time mom. I love spending time with my kids, although I have to hide the computer from them when I am writing! I love being active and being able to do any activity outdoors.

I have always thought as an author the most important critic is your reader, so I would love to hear from you. If you read the book and loved it or hated it, tell me. As long as it is in a constructive way I will always answer and interact with you. I want fans to feel free to tell me what they want for the characters in the story and what they want to see happen.

  Rochelle Paige

I absolutely adore reading—always have and always will. When I was growing up, my friends used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.

When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me, "About time!"
