Aunt Mauve led me to a tent, and I saw my bridesmaids in their violet dresses with sweetheart necklines.

I spotted Allie and Gwen and stumbled to them. “How is the little one today?” I rubbed Allie’s belly. Her wedding band glinted in the sunlight when she lifted her hand. It reminded me to move my princess cut engagement ring over to my right hand.

“He’s good.” Both hands massaged her lower back. “He thinks my spleen is for boxing though.”

“Have you and Curtis come up with a name yet?” I grinned when the baby kicked my hand.

“Curtis changes his mind every other day.” Aunt Mauve called for us to line up and my heart started to pound.

“She looks like she’s going to faint.” Gwen fanned my face. “Is that how I’m going to look next month when I marry Austin?”

“No.” Allie grabbed my shoulders. “Just breathe, Kitra. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong.” I waved both of them away and the first bridesmaid walked through the slit in the tent. “I’m excited, but I’m also nervous. I want everything to be perfect.”

“It will be.” She took a deep breath like she was in labor. “Caden is out there.” A few other bridesmaids from the pack had walked out. “Have no fear.” Then, it was Gwen’s turn and Allie left soon after.

Uncle Kalen kissed my forehead and threaded my arm through his. “You ready?”

“Yes.” The music started, and I walked towards my future husband.

Caden bit his lip when he saw me, and tears filled his eyes. My brain zoned out as I stared at him. His normally messy black hair was cut and styled. His tux was tailored made for his frame and all my Guardians stood by his side in matching tuxedos with blue vests and ties. Uncle Kalen passed my hand to Caden, and he led me to our tree. The minister stood in front of our initials and I only caught a few words of the ceremony until it was time for our vows.

“I, Caden Wesley Grey, promise to always be by your side. I vow to protect you and love you more each and every day of my life.” He slid the diamond-studded band around my finger. “You are my sun, my moon, and my stars. I vow to be faithfully yours until death do us part.” A tear slipped down his cheek.

“I, Kitra Noel Frost, promise to always be yours. I vow my love will remain pure and true until I take my last breath.” I slid Caden’s cobalt band around his finger. “You are my home, my heart, and my soul. I vow to be faithfully yours until death do us part.”

“I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.” The minister clapped.

Caden’s palms cupped my cheeks and his mouth found mine in the tenderest of kisses like he worshipped my lips. In this moment, my fears and worries melted away. No matter what the future held for us or our children, we would always fight for a brighter tomorrow.
