“Then you do that. Mom and Dad can take Alana if you want that.”

“No, I want her here. She will be sleeping early anyway, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”

“I hope to be back before dinner tomorrow. But I will let you know, okay?” I looked her in the eyes and kissed her.

“Okay,” she said before she kissed me back. I deepened the kiss and moved my hands under her shirt. I took the hem of the shirt in my hand and pulled it over her head, only breaking the kiss so I could get it off her.

“Mmm, that feels amazing,” she moaned when I put my hands on her breasts, playing with her very hard nipples. I moved her so she was on her back and I was on top of her, kissing her down from her lips, to her neck, then to her breasts. I kissed both her breasts before moving down her body. She arched under me when I got down to her panties. I took them off slowly, kissing her down her thighs and legs.

“Please, Liam,” she moaned, fisting her hands in the sheets.

“What do you need, Sunshine?” I asked her, looking up at her from between her legs. I kissed her on her inner thighs. Close, but so far away from where she wanted me.

“I need you inside me,” she said, her eyes on fire. Not with anger, but lust. Raw lust. I moved up her body and took off my boxers. When they were off, I kissed her and moved one of my hands between her legs. The moment my hand touched her pussy lips, she moaned loudly. Quickly I swallowed her moan by kissing her.

“Please,” she moaned against my lips.

I took my fingers out of her pussy, replacing them with my aching cock. I pushed inside her slowly, not wanting to hurt her. But she was so wet, so I just slid inside her.

“You feel amazing, Sunshine,” I growled, starting to move inside her. We moved together, like we were totally in sync. Feeling her pussy starting to clamp around my cock, I knew she was close. I moved my hand between us, pinching her clit. A couple of times was all it took before she exploded around me. I thrust inside her one more time before I exploded with her.

I rested my head on her chest, trying to catch my breath. We both breathed heavily for some minutes before I pulled out of her and slid down beside her, pulling her with me so she was resting her head in the crook of my arm. I kissed her forehead.

  “Love you so much, Sunshine.”

“I love you too.” She smiled. “I can’t believe Alana isn’t awake yet.” I looked over at the clock on the dresser. It was almost nine o’ clock and she was still sleeping. The weekend must have been hard for her.

“She must be tired from all the excitement in the weekend.” I smiled.

“I guess you’re right. And I’m pleased to have some alone time with you.”

“Me too, especially when I have to leave later today.” I sighed. I didn’t want to leave them, but at the same time, I needed to do this. It was my job, and it was only one night.

Mom: Lunch at one o’ clock. It’s mandatory.

I grinned at that; did she really think that any of her boys would pass over a free home-cooked meal?

  Me: We will be there.

“Lunch at my parents’ house today, is that okay?” I asked Evie. I’d already said we would come, but maybe I should have asked her first.

“Sounds good. Any plans until then?” she asked.

“Nah. I was thinking we could go outside and play. What do you say, baby girl? Want to go outside with Mommy and Daddy?” I asked Alana, kissing her on her forehead.

“Me love to.” Alana smiled and struggled to get out of her chair. I lifted her up and placed her on the floor. She ran over to the door and started to put her shoes on.

“I guess we better hurry.” I grinned and walked over to Alana.

“I will be out in five minutes. I just want to ask Amy and Gia if they have any plans tonight,” Evie said. She walked over to us and helped Alana get her shoes on. Bear was standing in front of the door, so I opened it so he could run out.

“That’s fine, we will be outside when you’re ready,” I said, placing a kiss on her lips before I took Alana’s hand. “Ready, baby girl?”

“Yes, come on, Daddy.” She ran out the door, trying to pull me after her. I grinned and followed her.

  Chapter 19:

  Evie

I closed the door and walked into the kitchen, grabbing my phone before I walked into the living room and sat on one of the big chairs beside the fireplace. I sent a group text to Amy and Gia.

Me: Girls’ night at Liam’s house tonight?

  Amy: I’m there.

Gia: I’m so ready for that. Need us to bring anything?

Me: Great, how about you bring snacks, then I make dinner?

  Amy: Sure, how about booze?

  Gia: It’s Monday…

  Amy: SO?

Me: I have red wine and sodas, if you want anything else, bring it 

Gia: Can’t wait, girls. Need some girly advice.

  Amy: Do tell.

Gia: You will have to wait until tonight.

  Amy: Fine.

I smiled and put my phone in my jeans pocket and walked outside to Liam and Alana.

“Don’t want to sleep.” Alana stomped her small feet on the floor and looked up at me. I was trying to get her ready for bed, but she didn’t want to do anything. She wanted Liam. She had been yelling and screaming for her daddy.

“Daddy will be home again tomorrow. You need to sleep, baby girl, you’re so tired.” I sat on the floor and pulled her into my lap. She rested her head on my chest and started crying again.

“Daddy, me want daddy now,” she sobbed. I caressed her hair and held her close.

“I will try and call him one more time, okay?” I’d been trying to get a hold of him for the last hour.

This was so not what I had in mind when I asked Gia and Amy to come over for a girls’ night. They were currently watching a movie in the living room. I was the worst hostess ever, but I had Alana to care about right now. She was so tired, she kept rubbing her eyes. But she wanted to say goodnight to her daddy. I called him again, but the phone went straight to voicemail.

I sent a text to Gia.

Me: Can I have Zane’s number? Liam is not picking up his phone and she won’t stop crying until she says goodnight to him.

Gia: Sure, I will just send it to you. Yell if you need help.

  Me: Thanks.

She texted me his number and I tried calling him.

  “Hello,” Zane said.

“Hey, it’s Evie. Is Liam anywhere near you?” I asked.

“Hey, yeah, just a moment,” he said. I could hear him saying something to someone.

  “Everything okay, Sunshine?” Liam asked.

“No, everything is not okay. Why the hell don’t you pick up your phone?” I snapped.

“Sorry, I must have forgotten it in my hotel room.” He sighed.

“Your daughter wants to say goodnight. Can you turn on FaceTime?”

“Sure. Hold on a second.” Something was off, he sounded weird. But I would worry about that later. Right now, I needed him to say good night to our daughter. I moved my phone down in front of me and Alana.

“Hey, baby girl,” Liam said. Alana looked at the phone and snatched it out of my hand.

  “Daddy,” she sobbed.

“Sorry daddy can’t be there to tuck you in.” I could see the regret in his eyes. He wanted to be here more than anything, but he had to do his job too.

“Miss you, Daddy,” Alana said. She was still resting in my lap, holding on to my shirt with one hand and with my phone in the other.

“I miss you too, baby girl. You and your mommy.” He smiled. “You look tired, baby. Don’t you want to sleep in your bed?”

“No, me want daddy,” she screamed.

“I’m sorry, baby girl, I have to stay here tonight. But you can sleep in mo
mmy and daddy’s bed tonight. You want that?” I had to give it to him, he was really trying to calm her down. He was too far away to just come running. But I was still pissed at him.

  “Okay,” she said.

I smiled at that. Finally. I stood up with her in my arms. She was still holding on to my phone. I walked into our bedroom and over to the bed. I looked behind me and saw Bear following. He always slept in Alana’s room, but I guessed when she was sleeping in here, so was he.

“Hold on a moment,” I said to Liam, and took the phone out of Alana’s hand so I could tuck her in. When she was tucked in under the covers, I lay down beside her and held the phone, so he could see us both. “Say good night to Daddy.” I kissed Alana on the top of her head.

“Night, Daddy,” she said, her eyes looking so tired. They were all red from crying and her eyelids looked so heavy.

“Good night, baby girl. I love you.”

“I will call later, thank you for this,” I said.

“Anytime. And sorry about not having my phone with me. I will go get it now, so call if you need anything else, okay?”

  “Okay.”

“I love you, Sunshine.” He smiled.

“Love you too,” I said before hanging up. I was so mad at him.

What if something had happened to her, and I couldn’t get a hold of him? Were we not important enough, that he could forget his phone? Calm down, Evie. Anyone can forget their phone, I told myself. And of course anyone could forget, but I needed him. Since when can’t I do anything without him? A few weeks with him and all I’d done alone was forgotten. Not forgotten, but it had just been easier to be two instead of one. I looked down at Alana; she was so tired.

“Good night, baby girl. Mommy loves you,” I said to Alana and kissed her cheek.

“Night, Mommy.” She yawned. I got out of the bed and walked out of the room.

I walked into the living room. Both Amy and Gia looked up at me when I came and sat on one of the chairs.

“Your brother needs to learn to answer his phone,” I snapped.

“He always forgets his phone. But I thought it would be different with you and Alana here,” Amy said.

“Guess not.” I shrugged. I looked at my phone when it beeped. I saw a text from Liam.

Liam: I’m so sorry, Sunshine. I will make it up to you, okay? Love you.

  Me: Love you too.

I was pissed, it was like a fire was burning inside me. I knew that he was sorry. But right now, I just wanted to be pissed at him. I put my phone on the table and took my wineglass.

“Can we hear about your boy problems now?” Amy asked Gia. I knew she had been waiting on this since this morning when Gia told us she needed advice.

“It’s not a problem. At least, I don’t think it is. He does.” She sighed.

“Then what does he think is the problem?” I asked.

“That he is twenty-nine and I’m nineteen.” Gia looked away. There was more to it than that. But for now, I just hoped Amy didn’t see the look on Gia’s face, because Amy wouldn’t give up until Gia told her everything.

“What’s the problem with that?” Amy asked. Gia would be twenty in December, but still there were almost ten years between them, not that it would matter to me.

“Apparently I’m too young and have no life experience. At least that was what he told me. But I like him and want to get to know him. But he won’t even talk to me.” She looked down at her hands.

“I’m sorry. Is it anyone we know?” I asked.

“No,” was all she said. I didn’t believe her. She had the same look on her face that Amy did when she tried to hide that she liked Cole as more than just as a friend. They both got blushed cheeks and avoided eye contact.

  “Bullshit,” Amy retorted.

“Keep your voice down, or you will get her to sleep again,” I snapped at Amy.

“Sorry.” She smiled at me. “But Gia, I still don’t believe you. Who is it?”

“It doesn’t matter. It’s not like anything will happen anyway.” She shrugged.

We ended up having a great night after I got Alana to sleep. We talked about boys, mostly about Gia’s mystery man and Amy’s crush on Cole. Not that she ever admitted that it was him she had a crush on. But we all knew it, maybe except Cole and Zane. The way Amy looked at him when she thought no one was watching her, she was in love with him. And if I had to guess, she had been for a long time. Back in high school, I tried to talk to her about him, but she just said that it was crazy and that she didn’t have a crush on him. And after several conversations ending with her telling me the same exact answer, I just let it go. I told her to come to me if she ever wanted to talk about it.

Last night Gia was trying to get Amy to talk about Cole, but she avoided it, just like she had all the times I tried to talk to her. Around two in the morning, Amy and Gia went home. I told them they could stay here, but they said that it was okay, they didn’t have that long to walk home anyway.

And this morning I was glad that it was just Alana and me. We were still in bed. Alana wanted to watch some new movie Caleb bought for her. I told him when he gave it to her that he should watch it with her. But I guessed one time wasn’t enough. We were watching it again today.

“Daddy home soon?” Alana looked up at me.

“He will be home tonight.” I smiled at her.

“Okay,” she said, and looked back at the television.

I was still pissed at Liam for not picking up his phone. What if something had happened and I needed him more than I did last night? Had I grown to depend on him too fast? I should be able to get my own daughter to sleep without his help.

My phone beeped, and I reached over to see who was texting this early. Alana woke up around six thirty this morning, so to say I was tired was an understatement.

Liam: Good morning, Sunshine, hope my girls slept well.

  Me: Morning. Alana did.

I saw Liam’s name flash on the display, so I answered the phone.

  “Hey.”

“Are you okay?” he asked with a worried voice.

“No.” I sniffed. I could feel the tears in my eyes. I took a couple of deep breaths and tried not to cry.

  “You’re still mad at me?”

“Yes.” I really didn’t want to talk to him about this over the phone. Before I had a chance to say anything else, Alana had turned the movie off, and the gossip channel came on the television. I saw a picture of Liam with a girl. And not just a fan, at least I didn’t think so.

They were holding each other close, and from the looks of it, they looked like they were dancing. Was this what he was doing last night when I tried to call him? Was this why he sounded weird on the phone last night? Who was that girl? Did something happen between them? I snapped out of my thoughts and heard Liam talking on the other end of the phone.

“I’m sorry, Sunshine. It won’t happen again. Please don’t be mad at me.”

“I’ve got to go,” I said before hanging up the phone.

I put my phone on silence because I knew him, he would call me back. And on the dot, he called me back. I got out of bed and looked at Alana.

“How about we go back to our other house for today?” I asked her. I needed to get out of here.

“Okay. Daddy come too?” she asked.

“No, but you will see him when he gets back home.” I smiled and tried not to break down.

I looked at the television. There were more pictures of Liam and that girl. When I saw the last one, I wanted to cry. He was kissing her. The picture was dark, but still he was kissing her on the mouth, right? While I was back here with his daughter he was kissing some other girl? I walked over to my phone. I was not just pissed anymore, I was furious. Who was he to do that to me? To Alana. I really thought we could make this work.

  Me: Don’t contact me
. I saw the pictures. You can have Alana when you get home, just let Amy get her. I don’t want to see you!

I turned off my phone. I really couldn’t talk to him right now.

“Mommy, why are you sad?” Alana came over to me. I was sitting on the couch in my parents’ house. We walked over here, as I didn’t want the paparazzi to catch us driving out the ranch.

“I’m just thinking about something sad, baby girl. Don’t worry.” I kissed the top of her head and pulled her up in my lap.

“Me don’t like Mommy sad.” Alana rested her head against my chest. I held her close and tried not to cry, but I was heartbroken all over again. I never should have come back.

But then Alana wouldn’t have Liam in her life, and I wanted her to have that. But at the same time, how could I look at him again? Every time I closed my eyes, I saw that picture of him kissing another girl. I knew I promised him not to assume anything from a picture or what the tabloids or gossip channels said, but I saw that picture.

How could he ever explain that? I promised him to always talk to him first, but what was there to talk about?

  A picture never lied, right?

  Chapter 20:

  Liam

I looked down on my phone again. Why the hell did she just hang up on me? Was she really that pissed at me for not picking up my phone last night? I knew it was stupid, but I forgot my phone at my hotel room, and didn’t even notice before Zane came over and told me she wanted to talk to me. My phone beeped and I saw a text from Evie.

Evie: Don’t contact me. I saw the pictures. You can have Alana when you get home, just let Amy get her. I don’t want to see you!

What the hell? What pictures? What was she talking about? I walked out of my room and over to Zane and Anna’s room. I knocked hard on the door.

“Hold on,” I heard Zane yell from inside the room. But I just kept knocking on the door until he opened it. He stood in front of me just wearing his jeans. “What the hell?”

I pushed him aside and walked inside the room. “Where is Anna?” I asked as calmly as I could, even though I wanted to yell and scream just to get someone to tell me what the hell just happened. And what pictures Evie was talking about.
