Icing On His Mate (A Move Over Fate Novel)

by Michelle Ziegler

He swallowed. A taste was all he needed. Her full lips, perfectly pink, were moving and he couldn’t figure out a single fucking word coming out of them.

All he could see was her. The static of power in the air thick as a morning fog had the magic of his wolf pawing at the ground, begging to be released.

She’s the one. His wolf growled out as he began to pace within his soul.

Ethan took a step, wincing at the pain in his pants. His dick throbbed, and his wolf growled a volatile combination. Instinct driving him he took one more step. His eyes focused on her mouth, imagining her hair tousled and her lips swollen after hours of making love.

  “Olivia?”

A weak “yes,” was all he heard as he moved in closer to her, stopping a mere inch from her. He’d let her have a second to run if she wanted. If she didn’t though, God help him, if she didn’t.

“Fuck. Olivia. You smell so good.”

A quick gasp her only response.

“I’m going to kiss you now,” he said. Fuck. If she didn’t walk away now, he’d do more than kiss her.

  “Okay.”

The next two seconds blurred as he dove in. His lips pressed to hers, his hands pulling at her waist, pulling her close to rub against his raging hard-on.

Her heart beat against his chest, erratic and strong. The sweet scent of her a tornado to his senses as the tingle of magic crackled within the air.

This was his first witch, and if the power licking at his skin was any indication of what he was in for, Ethan wasn’t sure he’d ever let her go.

She pressed into him, her body hot through her clothes. Her bare thigh snaked around him, his hand reached out to grab it. He liked her dress, whatever the fuck it looked like.

Logical thought be damned. He slid his hand higher and higher. She didn’t stop him. Her kisses grew more and more feverish in their mission.

His hand reached her butt, the cotton of her underwear the only thing between his palm and the soft skin of her ass.

He pulled away with all good intentions and somehow continued to kiss down her jaw line down to her ear.

“Olivia, do you want me to stop?”

Her unsteady breaths were the only sound he heard as his tongue licked her lobe. He sucked on the soft skin.

The hand on her ass slid further down finding the edge of her panties. Following the line of fabric, he trailed his hand between her legs and slipped his finger under the fabric. She shuddered in his arms as the tip of his pointer finger ran along her slit. The warm heat welcoming him as he slid his finger between the folds of her and slowly pushed into her tight muscles. She whimpered against his neck.

He started stroking her, in and out. He pulled out, pushing two fingers in next. Her muscles squeezed around him, tight. He worked her, stroking her until she trembled. Her weight falling to him as her legs shook.

The straining of his pants had him growling. He needed to take her. His wolf wouldn’t accept no. The ache in his belly was searing every nerve within him.

Losing the rational thoughts of his human, he pulled his hand away. She didn’t have time to question him. He grabbed her ass and lifted her up.

His mouth found hers and he walked backward until his back hit the rough brick wall.

Her hands rested on his cheeks as she kissed harder and faster, her hips rocking against him. He responded, his hunger for her desperate, growing.

He spun around and pushed her up against the wall. Ethan’s freed hand cupped the bodice of her dress, squeezing, kneading. His fingers ghosted against a taut peak. He pintched the nub between his fingers as she moved against him.

“Fuck,” he hissed, between his own uneven breathing.

  “Yes. Yes. That,” she said.

She fumbled one-handed at his waist-band, pulling at the snap, and yanking. The zipper gave way, and he sprang free.

Without much thought, he ripped at her underwear, the fabric shredding. His thumb rubbed against her clit until Olivia pressed into his hand, bearing down against his palm.

He needed no other encouragement. Welcomed, he pressed the tip of his dick against her opening, his fingers playing with her as he worked her to let him in.

“So tight.” His words lost as he bit down on his lower lip.

Slowly he lowered her onto him, his hands gripping her tighter as his restraint took everything.

Inch by inch she accepted him.

As he buried himself balls deep, she closed her eyes. He gripped her under her thighs, and slowly Ethan started moving her up and down onto him.

Her hands bit into his shoulders.

  “Faster,” she demanded.

He switched his motion, his own need driving the rhythm.

The pace growing more and more furious until he finally couldn’t hold anything back he thrust once more into her. Her muscles pulled at him, begging for him.

His eyes settled onto the bare skin of her shoulder as her body pulsed around him, pulling at him to come. The moment he began to break and spill into her, instinct drove him as he bit down onto the flesh.

A deep howl sounded within him, and he took her and claimed her.

It took him several seconds to realize what he had just done as her body slowly relaxed, her head lolling back against the wall.

Ethan released the sensitive skin, licking the bite and praying it would heal quickly. His dick twitched still buried within her, her muscles still pulsing with satisfied need.

  Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

He licked the blood off his lips and held her close. He’d just royally fucked up, but damn it if he didn’t want to let her go. He wanted to take her back to his place and bed her. He wanted to take her over and over and over. The problem was, he’d just done something he shouldn’t have. Fuck.

  “Olivia?”

Her eyes were still closed, her chest rising and falling as she struggled to catch her breath.

“Olivia?” He needed her to respond.

  “Hmm?”

He shifted his stance. The feel of her warmth around his shaft making him grow hard again.

  Her eyes flew open. “Already?”

He swallowed. “You make me crazy.”

She looked around. “I’ve never done anything like this.”

Their eyes locked and the guilt crept up his spine. What the fuck had he done?

“I’ve never done this before either. You’re so fucking gorgeous.”

A smile slowly spread across her lips. “You think I'm gorgeous.”

His dick twitched, and she squeaked in response.

“Yes. Pretty sure I find you irresistible,” he said.

She rocked her pelvis against him. He bit back a curse word.

“I can’t think if you do that,” he said.

She giggled. “Well I can’t exactly get off you, so you make the choice. Maybe we could...”

  She trailed off.

His mind didn’t register much, just the promise of more. “Could we what?”

She pushed against him, arching away from the wall.

  “My place?”

“I.” What the hell was he going to say? Why was he in the ally other than to fuck her? Who the hell cared? He needed her again. Now. His body couldn’t take the pain of restraint. He needed her to be his. He needed her to ache for him.

“Turn around,” he said as he lowered her to the ground. She nearly fell as he pulled out and lowered her. He bent down to claim her lips one more time. His tongue darting in and then out as he turned her around. He broke the kiss.

“Put your hands against the wall.”

Ethan lifted her skirt. His hand snaking between her legs. Running his finger between her folds. Tracing a trail from her sensitive nub to rectum. Her heat slick as he passed. She was eager.

Gripping her hips, he held her as he positioned the head of his dick once more at her entrance. Before he slid in, he whispered, “You’re mine.”

Her breath hitched as he pushed in, less careful and all animal.

She bent forward at the waist letting him control her, holding her as he slammed into her one, twice, and then quick, rough. Everything his wolf wanted.

He held her against him, her bare ass against his dick.

Her hands planted against the wall as he thrust forward.

The grip around her hips tightened. She was his. He was hers.

His senses tuned into the rapid beats of her heart as she grew closer and closer to coming for him. Little squeaks of pleasure escaped her at each thrust. Her head turned, and she sucked on her own upper arm to muffle the sound.

He thrust again and again, relentlessly pushing her further and further, her muscles tightening around him and he moaned.

A growl escaped his own mouth as he pushed into her again and this time she broke and screamed out. He didn’t care who heard. She was his. His.

He closed his eyes as he gave into the pulsing of her around him, pulling at him as he grunted once more letting himself empty within her.

Her body shook under his touch. Her breathing equal to running a marathon. Her legs nearly gave way, but he held her there. He tightened his arms around her.

As the tingle of magic climbed up his skin, and the walls of her core convulsed around him again and again, he felt complete.

The odd realization that he’d give her everything he had.

  He’d give her his heart.

Well shit. So, this is what mating was. His breathing still rapid, he laid his forehead against her back and inhaled her. His hands slid around under her dress, pressing against her stomach pulsing like butterfly wings. At least she would be happy with the sex. But was that enough?

What the fuck had he just done?

He’d found her, and now, he might just lose her.

Slowly he pulled out, trying to keep her from falling. As if in slow motion she stood with him.

“Wow,” was all Olivia said as she pulled and tugged to fix her dress.

  “That isn’t me.”

He nodded as he tucked himself away. Cringing as everything about him conflicted. His wolf, calm, happy, getting ready for a nap and all Ethan wanted to do was kick the damn thing.

“It isn’t really me either. Listen...” he died off. What the fuck could he say?

I might have mated you, and you're mine now, when are you coming to move in? Sure. Or how about, so how about marriage at first sight? Or was that love? Well shit.

“You don’t have to say anything. It’s okay. I really needed that.” Her words still breathy as if she couldn’t catch the air in her lungs yet.

He’d done that, and that part had him smiling. The scent of her sated arousal still lingering in the alley, completely overpowering the scents of earlier. He could smell nothing but her.

But, wait. What the heck did she just say?

“It’s not supposed to happen like this.”

Olivia faltered as she played with the wrinkles on her once pristine dress. “You’re a guy. Don’t one night stands always happen? I mean look at you.” Her eyes darkened, and for the first time in his life, he felt like a juicy steak being dangled at the mouth of a predator.

  He quickly shook it off.

  “No.”

“No, What? No one night stands? Or this isn’t how they usually happen? I don’t mind. I didn’t know sex could be like that.”

What the fuck was she talking about? This wasn’t going well at all.

“I’m a shifter.” He gestured between the two of them.

  She nodded.

  “Don’t you get it?”

She pursed her lips and crossed her arms over her chest. And damn that chest had his mind wandering all over again.

The sound of children laughing in the distance was the only thing that broke him from the horrible direction this conversation was going.

“Oh shit. Can I call you?” he asked.

  “Sure.”

Before she could say anything else, Ethan sprinted off to the baby shower. He was the worst person. He’d abandoned the one person who trusted him to not hurt her. For sex. No, not sex. For his mate.

He’d just screwed up worse than ever before. He'd just mated Olivia, and she didn't even know what that meant.

Trusting his instincts seemed to get him into a lifetime of trouble.

He took the building stairs two by two and paused to sniff the air. She was still close, he could catch the sweet nectar of her scent anywhere for the rest of his life.

He knew she was the one for him, but she was a witch. What did that even mean for them? Could she feel the pull, the agony of being apart already?

He'd heard stories about mating. He knew how his dad had asked his mom.

Great job asshole. You just tied yourself to a woman who you don't even know her last name.

  Chapter 5

Olivia let the door fall closed behind her. Leaning against the thick wood, she stood staring at the early evening light filtering through the windows.

  “What did I just do?”

Her breathing hitched at the memories of his body. His solid arms a fortress around her. Who knew sex could be like that?

Covering her face with her hands, a giggle escaped. At the heat of her own skin, she recalled the strength of his hands holding her hips and moaned.

Remembering the pleasure, and also, the embarrassment. How was she supposed to face him after that?

Olivia dropped her hands and realized she didn’t know if she’d see him again. Or did she? An odd spark within her said this was only the start. She wanted to see him again.. Good Lord, did she want to.

She let her head lull against the door and blew out a long breath. Her eyes fluttering closed. She needed to see him again.

The familiar silence of the apartment gave way to little comfort.

No one had ever wanted her like that.

The hum of the fridge, the buzz of electricity, and the muted steps of other tenants in apartments created a dull soundtrack to her life.

Absently she rubbed at her shoulder, an odd ache. Granted she’d just had sex, twice, in an alley. Who knows what she pulled or scratched? The flash of Ethan's eyes as he’d relentlessly taken her surfaced. She bit back a moan. The man could make her come at the memory of each thrust. His dick pushed her further and faster over a cliff she’d never stood on before. His body had hit nerves she’d never known existed. A shiver chased up her spine at every memory. Recalling how'd he'd hit each little button she'd never known existed.

“Damn it.” Olivia wasn’t impulsive. She wasn’t a sex-crazed teen. No. She was a mature adult. So, what the hell had just happened and when would it happen again?

Slowly she slid down the door as she closed her eyes trying to remember every movement. Trying to recall the way his breathing shuddered as he came. The scent of his sweat. He’d kissed her with tender lips even if their lovemaking had been only need and want and desire, fast and urgent.

She giggled. Olivia didn’t want to admit it, but she had needed that. She’d needed to feel wanted, needed to know what it was like to be desired. Her hands slowly trailed down her neck, over her breasts, down the fabric of her dress, and settled between the folds of the cotton pressing against the v of her thighs. Her muscles ached in a delicious new way.

Confusion found its way past the delusion of happiness. She wanted to hide right now as the bitter taste of embarrassment found her. He’d nearly tripped as he fled, pulling at the waist of his pants. Why had he run from her? He’d said all the right things and made her feel special. And then Ethan left her standing next to dumpsters. Sure, he hadn’t looked away until the last second, but he hadn’t said anything. Right? She swore he’d said he’d find her later. Hadn’t he?

Okay, so maybe her body was happy and sated, then why didn’t she feel better about any of this? Her mind wasn’t her own, not when he was around. Her body did the talking and her heart... She couldn’t have walked away even if she wanted to. Confusion mixed with the pleasure seemed to cool off her body at the thou
ght she’d never see him again. Olivia shivered.

Opening her eyes, she noticed ice crystals in the air.

  What the hell?

Before she could make sense of whatever the hell was going on in the apartment, she took a blow to the head.

  “Ouch, damn it.”

  “What the? Move, Livi.”

She scuttled away from the door, standing as quickly as her over exhausted muscles would let her.

  “That really hurt, Bridgette.”

“How was I supposed to know you’d be on the floor in front of the door? What was your goal? Trip up a burglar? No one is going to break in mid-day anyway.”

Olivia squinched her nose. “You’re really grumpy.”

Bridgette yanked her key out the door and dropped her purse on the island. “Yeah. I am grumpy. What can I say? You didn’t come back this afternoon, and I had to deal with the store all by myself. You’re just lucky it was our early day, but somehow you forgot that today was also the day the bingo club comes in.”

Olivia looked down at the floor. Her mouth opened and closed. Her energy wavered, and her limbs weighed a million pounds. Olivia watched as a snowflake landed at her feet.

  “Livi? You okay?”

Olivia looked up, her eyes growing larger and larger as she took in the snow drifting around the hall.

Bridgette stood still, her eyes scanning the space.

Olivia slowly nodded, but her body seemed to take on a life all its own as the room swirled and swayed. Before she knew it, the floor was rushing up to meet her or was she falling?

“Livi? Livi, say something. Anything. Oh my God are you okay?” asked Bridgette.

Olivia remained on with the floor. “This is now my home.”

“Oh my God. What just happened?”

Olivia glimpsed Bridgette as she knelt next to her head.

“What just happened? Are you okay?”

Olivia focused on a speck on the ceiling for another heartbeat before slowly rolling over. “No idea, really. I just got so dizzy. This day is getting weirder and weirder.”

“Do you need a doctor?” Bridgette asked.
