“Will you help me? Us?” She said.
“I will, but you have to do one thing for me. You must wholeheartedly trust me with everything and every decision I make for you, Alyssa and Daniel.”
She held her stomach as she gasped for air. She couldn’t stop crying. I walked over to her and held her in my arms. She held onto my shoulders and wept against my chest. Her cries were that of someone who was broken. The same exact cries I cried for my brothers. I knew the news of Jacob being her father and Stone not being her brother devastated her.
“I will. I promise. I don’t want anything to happen to the children. Jordania almost got away with hurting Alyssa. I’ll kill her. I swear to God, I’ll kill that bitch.” She wiped her tears and glanced up at me.
“You don’t have to kill anyone. No more killing, Madison. We must do things the right way now. Too many people have died because of Andrew and too many hearts have been broken because…of Jacob.” I insisted.
“I don’t trust him…at all.”
“He’s going to get suspicious.” I stood up from the bed. “Get some rest.” I’ll be right outside your door.
I walked out of the room. Alyssa and Daniel were sitting in the living room. Jacob was on his phone.
“Hey, you guys ready for bed. We have to go to the new location tomorrow.”
“Yeah, go with momma Lyssa. I need to talk to Jackson.” Alyssa waved goodnight to me and then glared at Jacob.
“Oh, no goodnight to me.” Jacob said.
Alyssa turned around and walked away without saying a word.
“Can I speak to you privately?” Daniel asked me.
“Sure.” I replied.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Daniel.” Jacob said sarcastically.
“Fine. I don’t like you. Stay away from my mother.” Daniel said and walked towards his bedroom.
Jacob shrugged his shoulders and lit up a cigar.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Jacob?” I asked.
“Look, I’m trying my best. She’s not so easy to get along with you know.”
“You’re not even trying. This is horrible news for her. What were you thinking?”
“Go to bed Jacks and get some from that pretty little thing that’s waiting for you in your bedroom.” He said chuckling. “I’ve got business to attend to. Good night.”
I got up and walked towards my bedroom. I opened the door quietly and saw Gen sleeping like a baby. I got undressed and snuggled up behind her, placing my arm around her waist and feeling her hourglass body melt into mine. She felt so good. She was what I needed. I wanted her so badly, but this isn’t how I expected my have my first encounter with her. I held her tight and went to sleep.
Chapter 23
Alyssa
I woke up to the sound of loud voices and arguing. I got up quickly, looked to my side and didn’t see momma in the bed. I heard a woman’s voice, but it wasn’t hers. I ran out of the room and into the living room.
“Go back to your room!” Jacob shouted.
“Where’s my mother?” I yelled.
“Jackson, get this girl out of here!” He yelled.
Jackson walked over to me. The apartment was filled with men in suits. I grabbed Jackson.
“What’s going on? Please, tell me. Where’s momma?” I pleaded.
“I don’t know. We woke up this morning and she was gone.” Jackson said anxiously.
“Did someone take her?” I yelled.
“I’m not sure. We are trying to locate her now.”
“No…” I shook my head.
I ran to my room and grabbed my cell phone and sent momma a text.
Momma, please come back.
I sat on the edge of the bed and cried. Danny walked in.
“What the hell is going on out there?”
“Momma’s gone.” I cried.
“What?”
“She’s gone.”
Danny stormed out of the bedroom. I ran out to follow him.
“Where the hell is my mother?” Danny shouted.
“Jesus, get these kids under control Jackson!” Jacob shouted.
Danny ran up to him, with his hand balled into a fist and punched Jacob dead smack in his jaw. Jacob, unaware of what just happened, fell against the coffee table in the living room and rolled onto the rug on his back. Within seconds, Danny had five men pointing guns at every part of his body.
“Put your guns down. Are you guys crazy?” Jackson shouted.
The men withdrew their guns and placed them back in their holsters. Danny walked towards Jacob.
“You better find my mother, motherfucker. You did this to her!” he yelled in Jacob’s face.
“You spoiled little shit. You think your mother was an angel. She got away with murder.”
“She wouldn’t have had to kill anyone if she had a father who was there to protect her!” Danny face was red with anger.
“Just step away from me.” Jacob said.
“You better find my mother, or I’ll kill you. Do you understand me?” Danny said calmly.
Jacob glared at Daniel, then smiled.
“You’re definitely related to Madison, aren’t you? you fucking misfit.”
“You’re damn right.”
I walked over to Danny and grabbed his hand and dragged him to the kitchen.
“Danny, please, you need to calm down.”
“We need to get out of here, Lyssa. I don’t trust Jacob.” He grabbed a water from the fridge.
“How? What if momma comes back?” I asked.
“Jackson. We need him on our side, Lyssa.” he said as he took a deep breath.
Jackson entered the kitchen.
“In five minutes, you’re going to go into the bathroom.”
“For what?”
“Open the linen closet and walk in. behind the towels there’s another door. It leads to the building staircase.”
“What?”
“Madison is waiting there for us. I had contractors built this escape way because I knew one day I’d have to get out of here.”
“Why is she there?”
“She’s in danger and I don’t think Jacob is here to keep her safe. The secret location went up in flames this morning. The location we were supposed to be at earlier today. Someone fucked up and blew it up earlier than they should’ve.”
My heart dropped into my stomach.
“Jesus…” Daniel said.
“You have five minutes for me to get everyone out of this building and apartment when the fire alarm goes off. Do you understand? If you don’t get there on time, we have to leave you behind.”
“Yes.”
“Go.” Jackson demanded.
Daniel and I walked calmly to the bathroom. We noticed Gen was nowhere in the apartment. We locked the door behind us when we heard the fire alarm go off. The lights flashed in the bathroom. We opened the linen closet and looked for the towels. We pushed the towels out of the way and found the door. There was a flashlight near the door. We closed the door behind us. Danny took the flashlight and led the way. We ran down the stairs at super speed and opened a metal door at the end of the steps. We were in the garage of the building. We glanced around and saw a car with the lights on. The window lowered. It was Gen.
“Get in.” She said.
We jumped into the back seat and momma was sitting there. We grabbed her and she hugged us tightly.
“Momma!” I cried.
Suddenly, the front door opened, and Jackson jumped into the front seat. Danny’s fist were ready to fight.
“Gen go.” He shouted.
The underground parking lot was dark and led us underneath a tunnel. The car windows were tinted but I was able to look through the windshield. Soon, the sunlight was shining through and we ended up underneath another tunnel. I didn’t know where we were headed, and I was praying that none of us would be separated.
“get down on the floor of the car,” Jackson said.
We did as he said. He als
o leaned down in the front passenger seat. Stay down until Gen gets on the Taconic Parkway.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“We’ll be safe. That’s all that matters.” Jackson answered.
“I’ll let you know when it’s safe.” Gen added.
Jackson’s cell phone rang.
“Fuck! I forgot to get rid of the phone.”
“Give it to me.” Gen said.
He handed her the phone. She lowered the window and threw the phone out the window. The wind blew in the car, everyone’s hair was flailing in the air. I felt a chill run up and down my spine. I closed my eyes and thought of Stone. My eyes teared up.
“What’s wrong, Lyssa?” Danny said.
“Nothing,” I answered.
We sat on the floor of the car for over an hour. My legs were cramped, and I needed to pee.
“Can we sit up now?” I asked Gen.
“Yes,”
We all sat up and Jackson turned around to look at us.
“Are you okay?”
I nodded. Danny stared at him. Momma said nothing. I looked through the windshield and saw the highway exit sign that read Saugerties.
“Where are we going?” Danny asked.
“To a little place I love called Love Bites Café,” Jackson said.
“Sounds like the perfect place to go Jacks,” Gen said giggling softly.
Jackson cracked a smile, then turned and glanced over at me.
“you okay, Alyssa?”
“Yeah, sure. In the middle of nowhere and running away from my life.”
Jackson turned around and directed Gen to the café. Momma was silent and pensive. I couldn’t imagine what she was thinking. If it wasn’t for Jacob, daddy would’ve been here with us. I grabbed her hand and she gave me a soft, sweet smile. I loved her so much.
Gen pulled into a parking spot on the street. I was so afraid to get out of the car. I didn’t know if we were going to be shot at, kidnapped or asked to run. I was tired of this ordeal that I didn’t have the strength to eat anything. We entered the café as Jackson kept his hand on his gun the whole time. Danny stared at everyone. Momma turned her head in every direction. Gen held Jackson’s hand and I followed like a puppy behind all of them.
“Lyssa, front and center.” Momma said loudly embarrassing me.
I walked ahead of them quickly almost running to follow Gen. Gen sat down first and we all joined her. She looked so worried.
“I want you to know I have a place up here that’s not on the radar. We should be safe until we have to move again.”
A waitress walked towards us. Her silver glasses and blue hair made her stick out like a sore thumb.
“Can I start you off with some drinks?”
“Coffee,” Jacks said.
“Jack Daniels on the rocks,” I said.
“Excuse me young lady?” Momma said.
“I’m not a kid anymore and I’m stressed the fuck out!” I barked.
“Really? Is this what we’re going to do?” Momma asked. Daniel chuckled.
“Are you kidding me? I just lost my life. My friends. I’m running away like some fucking fugitive!” I barked.
I lost it. I felt like I was going to have a panic attack.
“I can come back,” the waitress turned her back on me.
“No, you can’t come back. You want to know why? We may not be alive when you get here!” I stood up and stormed out of the café.
Daniel ran and followed me outside when two men grabbed me by the arm and dragged me across the street. I began to scream.
“No, momma! Momma!” I yelled.
I kicked both men as hard as I could, but I couldn’t fight them off. One man grabbed my legs and threw me into the car. I banged my head against the door. One of the men placed a something over my head. My body was shaking.
“Stay still.”
“Fuck you! Let me go!” I kicked and kicked until someone punched me in the stomach.
I lost my breath from the shock of being hit. It hurt so badly I yelped.
“Stay the fuck still or I’ll slit your throat Alyssa.” I swallowed hard. I held in my tears. I was afraid to breathe.
The voice I heard sounded familiar. It was Jacob.
“Jacob?” I whispered.
“No, it’s your fairy Godmother?” he chuckled. “Give it to her and break her in. I think she’s a virgin.” He said.
“Wait…what are you doing?” I shouted.
I felt cold hands on the button of my jeans. I kicked and kicked until someone punched me on the side of my head.
The blow was so hard, I nearly fell unconscious.
“Jesus, Jacob. You had to get a wild one. She’s never going to cooperate.” Someone said.
“She doesn’t have to. That’s what drugs are for. Shoot that little bitch up or give her a pill. Make her relax. Are you new at this Bill?” I heard Jacob Chuckle.
I fell back against the seat. I felt my jeans slip down my thighs. The bag was slipped off my head.
My eyes were wide. I had to adjust them to the light.
“Jesus, Jacob she’s beautiful. Don’t you want her?” A tall man with jet black hair slid his hand between my thighs.
With the little strength that I had left, I kneed him right in the balls. I pulled up my jeans quickly.
“Fucking little cunt! I’ll fucking kill you.” Jacob glared at me, pulled out his gun and placed near my lips. “You’re a feisty one, aren’t you?” he whispered.
“Please, why are you doing this? You’re her father, what are you doing? I’m Ana’s daughter, too, please…” I said choking on my words.
The tears slid down my cheeks. I stared at him, pleading with my eyes not to hurt me.
“Daughter? She was a dirty whore.” A slow grin formed on his lips. “Your grandmother paid me a measly two hundred bucks to fuck your junkie mother in exchange for drugs. She just happened to get pregnant with Madison.” He slid his hand across my cheek. “Did you know that?” I swallowed hard and shook my head. He continued to stare at me with pure disgust in his eyes. “I wanted Ana to have an abortion, but no. She had to have three more; fucking whore.” He sat closer to me and placed his hand on my thigh. “When I found out about Madison, I threatened to kill that old bitch if she told anyone.” He began to rub on my thigh lightly. I felt nauseous. “Did you actually think I wanted a child from a junkie?” He kissed my forehead tenderly. “Now, if it were you. I would’ve been a good father to you. You would’ve been mine. I would’ve taken you out of that hell hole.” I began to tremble as his hand slid up my thigh near the zipper on my jeans.
“Please, please don’t hurt me.” I begged.
Jacob glared at me. He removed his hand, grabbed a cigar from his pocket, lit it up a and sat back while he eyed me up and down.
“Bill, get dressed. We don’t have time for your teen fantasies right now.” He kicked bill on his back, as bill grabbed his balls and adjusted them in his pants.
“Why do you get to have all the fun?” Bill sneered.
“I’m the boss and you’re just a worker.” Jacob chuckled. “Besides, she’s my stepdaughter, or granddaughter. Hell, she’s something. It would just be wrong, me watching you fuck her pretty young body.” He winked at me and my stomach churned. I was shaking uncontrollably at this point.
“Button your pants Alyssa. Don’t be such a whore like your mother.” He said laughing.
The tears flooded my eyes. The pain in my heart was unbearable.
His cell phone rang and as he answered it, I buttoned my jeans while he wasn’t looking.
“Ah, Jordania, why are you calling me?”
I glanced up at him and he smiled at me. The look of horror appeared on my face. I felt a chill run up and down my spine. Goosebumps filled each arm and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. He leaned in and I thought he was going to kiss me on the lips, so I closed my eyes quickly, instead, he slid his fingers against my cheek and kept them there as he spoke on the ph
one.
“You know you had a clear shot. Why didn’t you take it? How could you let Jackson hurt you like that?”
Bill slid his body next to mine. Now, I was between them. In the middle. Like a sandwich. Jacob looked at Bill and shook his head. He covered the phone with his hand.
“Do you mind? You had your chance and you blew it. Sit the fuck down and wait for orders.” Jacob said calmly.
“I don’t have time for your rants, Jordania. Find that old bitch, Melanie and bring her to me or I’m going to make sure you never do business in the states again.” He ended the call, lifted his fingers from my face and ran his fingers through his hair. “Do you see the shit I have to go through Alyssa. Incompetent workers. Horny workers. Family members I can’t fuck. I mean, this is just bullshit.”
He sat back and stared at me the entire ride until we reached our destination. No one touched me. But, they both stared at me like I was a filet mignon, tender, juicy and well done. I was terrified at what was going to happen next. I was trapped and I all I wanted was to stay alive for the next couple of hours, so I could plan my escape, but I needed to know where I was at and I didn’t know have a clue.
Chapter 24
Jackson
I knocked over the table and ran after Alyssa. Before I knew it, I heard the tires of a car screeching, making a U turn and almost running over pedestrians in the street.
“Alyssa! Alyssa!” I shouted.
I ran to the middle of the street, firing my gun and shooting at the tires of the car. I missed every shot and right before my eyes, the car disappeared with Alyssa in it. I ran back to Daniel and Madison.
“Do you have your cell phone? Do you?” I asked Madison then looked at Daniel.
“Yeah, why?” She said.
Daniel nodded his head.
“They tracked us with your phones. Goddammit, didn’t you see Gen throw mine out the window!” I snapped.
“You didn’t tell us to do it. I don’t understand. What just happened? You were supposed to protect us?” Madison cried.
