  Chapter 31

  Alyssa

I waited anxiously for momma and Jackson to get home. Gen was a nervous wreck for the past couple of hours and I wondered why. She stood in the kitchen cooking and baking desserts.

“I’ve got to go soon,” grandma said.

“Just wait grandma, Momma will be back. You have to see the new loft. There’s an extra room for you.” I grabbed grandma and she giggled.

“You’re acting like a little girl, Lyssa” grandma snickered.

“Oh grandma, I’m enjoying life right now. Just a month ago, I didn’t know whether or not I was going to live or die.” I sat on the sofa like an Indian and held my hands together.

“Oh Lyssa, I’m so sorry.” Grandma said giving me a hug.

“Hey, stop that mushy stuff. I can’t stand it.” Danny said.

  “You’re lying.” Gen giggled.

She hugged Danny from behind. He smiled.

The door opened, and I walked towards the foyer.

“Ha! Danny. There’s mushier where that came from. Momma’s home.” I shouted.

I turned my head towards Danny until someone grabbed me.

“How’s my little frankenstein?” I heard a voice say.

I turned around quickly. My heart began to race. This man looked familiar, but I didn’t know who he was. I got scared and took a step back.

  “Momma?” I asked.

  “I’m here Lyssa.”

  “Who’s this?”

Momma stared at me for a moment, then smiled.

“It’s daddy, Lyssa?” she said softly.

I shook my head and giggled.

“That’s not funny momma.” I whispered.

“She’s not lying Alyssa.” The man said seriously.

  “Daddy?” I whispered.

“Yes, it’s me…daddy” he said softly.

I walked slowly towards him. I only saw him in pictures and now he was older. My heart broke and I cried.

“My little Frankenstein. I’ve missed you so much.” He held me in his arms and cried.

“Daddy, oh daddy, this can’t be real.” I cried.

  “Dad?” Daniel asked.

Daddy released me from his embrace and glanced over at Danny.

  “Daniel?” Daddy said.

Danny walked towards daddy uneasily. He stared at him, then reached out and hugged him.

“Dad. Oh my God. I can’t believe it’s really you.” he cried.

Danny hugged him and cried on his shoulder.

“What’s going on here?” Annette said.

She stood in the foyer and glanced over at daddy.

  “Stone?” she said nervously.

  “Annette?” Daddy said.

You could tell he was shocked. He stood staring at all of us, then he broke down cried again.

“Stone? My baby.” Grandma walked towards him and wrapped her arms around him.

  “Mom?” he whispered.

She held him and they both cried into each other’s shoulders. I couldn’t contain myself and cried uncontrollably. Danny ran to me and held me.

  “Danny.” I cried.

“Oh my God. What’s happening?” Gen asked terrified.

“It’s a good cry baby.” Jackson grabbed her hand.

Daddy and Annette separated. He wiped his eyes with his hands.

  “Who is he?” Gen asked.

“This is Joseph McGuiness. It’s a long story baby.”

“It’s nice to meet you.” Gen smiled.

“Nice to meet you. Now, that I have forever with my family, I’d love to share our story with you one day.”

“Maybe we can make our own story. All of us, starting today. Right here. Right Now.” Gen smiled.

  “I’d like that.” He smiled.

  Two years later

  Jackson

“Come on you guys, you’re slower than molasses.” I shouted.

“You know I can’t walk that fast baby.” Gen laughed.

“I have Gabriel and Gabriella. You take your time. It’s the other ones I’m waiting for. Stone! Come on!”

  “I’m coming.” He shouted.

Stone rushed out of the loft dropping the suitcase and fumbling with the other bags in his hand. He tripped over himself and fell to the floor.

“Stone wait for me.” Madison yelled.

He got up quickly and picked up the bags.

“Oh my God baby, I almost forgot you.” He chuckled.

“Ouch, Stone, it hurts.” Madison cried.

“It’s supposed to, you’re having contractions. We need to get to the hospital fast.”

  “I’m here momma!” Alyssa shouted.

  “Where’s Daniel?” I asked.

“he said he’ll meet us at the hospital.” Alyssa answered.

“Fine. The Uber guys have been waiting for fifteen minutes now.” I demanded.

“Can I hold twins uncle jacks?” Alyssa asked.

“They can sit in the car seats. Now lets get going before your mother has the baby on the sidewalk.” I snapped.

  “oh alright.” Alyssa pouted.

“Maddie, get in.” Stone held Madison by her arm.

Stone helped Maddie in the Jeep. Gen, Alyssa, the twins and I got in the other Uber. Traffic was light. It must’ve been a miracle. The Uber driver pulled up in front of New York Hospital. I saw Stone running into the hospital. I got out and sat with Madison.

  “I’m nervous, Jacks.” She whispered.

“You’ll do fine. I think Stone is more nervous than you are.

“Here you go, Maddie.” Stone said smiling.

Madison sat in the wheelchair. They pushed her into labor and delivery and we sat in the waiting area. Daniel walked in.

  “Hey everybody,” he said.

  “Hey Daniel.”

  “Is momma okay?”

“She’s giving birth to your brother or sister right now.”

“I can’t wait to find out.” He said as he took a seat near alyssa.

“You okay, baby?” I asked Gen kissing her hand.

“Oh, I’m fine Jacks. I’m not due for another two months. I just feel like a balloon.”

  “You look beautiful.”

“That’s how all of this began. One look into your eyes and I melted.” She smiled.

“You are perfect. Did you decide on a name?” I asked rubbing her belly.

  “Georgia Sky Turner.”

  “Perfect. Georgia, Gabriella and Gabriel.”

“I love you, baby.” I kissed her plump lips.

“I love you, Jacks.” She giggled and rubbed her stomach.

We waited for over an hour. The twins were sound asleep. Gen fell asleep on my shoulder and Daniel and Alyssa watched a movie on Alyssa’s phone. Stone finally walked in.

“Daddy is momma okay?” Alyssa asked.

“Yes, it’s a boy!” he shouted.

I jumped out of my seat and shook his hand and gave him a bear hug.

“Oh my God! Daddy a boy! What’s his name?”

  “Bryan. Bryan Joseph McGuiness.”

We stood silent for a moment remembering Bryan, their older brother, who died of Leukemia when he was child. Stone had tears in his eyes. They were tears of joy mixed with sadness.

“That’s a great name dad.” Daniel said.

“I’m going back to your mom. She’s waiting for me.” Stone said.

  “Dad?” Daniel said.

“Bryan is the perfect name. I’m sure he’s smiling down at us right now.”

“Thanks. Have I told you how proud I am of you lately?”

  “Every day dad. Every day.”

“I’m glad you and Alyssa decided to live with us in the loft and not dorm. I didn’t want to spend any more time away from you guys.”

“This all seems like a dream, but finally a good one. Momma, you and a baby. Everything you and Momma wanted when you were younger. Dreams do come true after all, don’t they?” Danny said.

“Yes, they do.” Stone said s
oftly.

“Mr. McGuiness, your family can come in and visit now.”

“Come on, let’s all go see Maddie and the baby.” Stone said.

I woke up Gen and we grabbed the twins. We walked into the room and saw Maddie in bed with the baby wrapped in a blue blanket and blue knit hat nestled against her chest.

“Wow, now that’s a beautiful sight.” I said as I walked towards her and kissed her cheek.

“Thanks, meet Bryan Joseph McGuiness.” She whispered.

He was beautiful, dark gray blue eyes and a head full of hair. His rosy cheeks were full, like a chipmunk and his lips puckered up as if he were asking for a kiss.

  “He’s beautiful.” Gen said.

“Momma, he’s simply gorgeous.” Alyssa smiled and kissed his forehead.

“He’s adorable momma.” Daniel said teary-eyed.

  The doctor walked in.

“Congratulations, Mrs. McGuiness. What a beautiful family you have.”

“Thank you. It’s what I wanted all my life.” She whispered.

Stone stood next to Madison and caressed her head and kissed Bryan on the top of his head.

“Doc, do you mind taking a picture?” Stone asked.

“Of course not.” I gave him my cell phone.

  “I’ll hold Gabriel.” Danny said.

  “I’ll hold Gabriella.” Alyssa said.

We all surrounded Madison and the baby. It was the perfect picture. The doctor asked us all to smile and say cheese. Stone, Madison, Alyssa, Daniel, Bryan, Gen, the twins and me. You could see the love in everyone’s eyes. This was the perfect beginning for all the years stolen from two people who had truly loved one another. The love that Madison had for Stone was buried deep in her heart and was unbreakable. The love Stone had for Madison kept him alive all these years. Together, their love was so strong, no one could ever break it. Love can change you. It changed me.
