Vacation Bride: A Billionaire Marriage of Convenience (Brides of Paradise Book 1)
Page 16
“A present?” Chris looked surprised. “For me?” He reached under the bed and found a sketchpad-sized box. “Artwork?”
“Either that, or one of Ryan’s big flat electric fishing lures.”
It was the drawing Anna had made from his photograph. The one he’d snapped of her sitting on the wall in her wedding dress looking out to sea. This sketch was better than the one she’d done of him. A year of art lessons had taught her a lot. But the romance, the sense of possibility, were very much the same.
“Wow.” Chris blinked hastily. “I love it.” He bent and kissed Anna. “And I love you. You’re the most beautiful, talented, kind-hearted, sexy—”
His son burped loudly and spit up on the bed.
They laughed together, fumbling with clean blankets and diapers, rocking their infant to sleep. At last Anna tucked George Christopher into his bassinet and slipped back into bed.
“Why don’t you nap.” Chris moved closer and wrapped his arm around Anna. “I’ll take care of the baby.” He gazed at his son with such tenderness Anna felt tears in her eyes. She almost reached for her camera so she could preserve his look and sketch it later. But then she changed her mind and snuggled against him.
Some things couldn’t be captured on paper. Anna held her husband, deeply content. Some things could only be saved in the heart.
