Pipe’s voice cut through the darkness. “I said the safe word. He didn’t stop. I screamed and struggled out of those binds. He continued...”
Wetness smeared on my chest. Pipe must’ve been crying, even though I couldn’t hear it in his voice.
He hugged me tighter. “He gagged my mouth and then started on my face.”
No.
“I don’t know how long he did it,” Pipe muttered. “I think I left the room in my head. I think I just zoned out.”
Jay paced on the other side of the bed, but luckily, he didn’t stomp. Every now and then, light hit him, and then he disappeared back into shadows.
“When Malcolm took away the gag, blood covered me. So much, my chest sparkled like rubies.”
A tear spilled from my eyes. I was so fucking tired of crying.
“And I don’t know. I whispered the safe word over and over. He said some things. I remember some of it. But I know I just kept saying that word again and again like it could solve everything. Like maybe he just hadn’t heard me. Like maybe he would remember...”
“Remember what, Pipe?” I asked.
“Remember that he loved me.”
Sighing, I kissed him, just pressed my lips against his and wouldn’t let go until he relaxed against me. He shook a little.
“I love you,” I whispered against his mouth.
“I know, Evie.” He slipped his leg between my thighs and brought me so close to him that my whole body smoothed against his. “I know.”
Jay walked off. “I need to get some air.”
“Are you okay, Jay?” I got ready to get out of Pipe’s hold, but he wouldn’t let me go.
“Yeah. I just need a minute.” He stomped toward the balcony, slid the door open, and closed it behind him.
“Does he have clothes on? We don’t need him to go viral again,” Pipe said. “I didn’t feel like leaving your breasts to see.”
I giggled. “You saw the video?”
“Is there anybody in the United States that didn’t see the video?”
“Jay is special.”
“Yes, he is.” Pipe’s hands slipped over my hips and down to my thighs.
I jumped a little and held in the sigh that always came when he touched me.
“Why weren’t you wearing any clothes when I walked in?” Pipe asked.
I cleared my throat. “Jay and I have decided to date again.”
“That’s why you only had a bra and panties on?”
“Maybe.”
Under the covers, he moved his hand back up my thigh, stopped at the strap of my panties, and twisted it between his fingers. “Why didn’t you put on some clothes when I got in the room?”
“That’s a weird question.”
“Is it?”
“Yeah, being naked around you isn’t a problem.”
“Hmmm.” Pipe pulled the panties’ strap down a little. “These are the lucky ones.”
Heat swelled between my thighs, but I waved it away.
It’s normal to be turned on by someone touching me. But this is Pipe. It’s fine.
“Are you okay?” I asked.
“No. I’m broken.”
“No, you’re not.”
“I am.”
“No, Pipe.”
“Trust me, Evie. I’m never going to be the same.”
“Don’t say that.”
“My head is gone. I’m scared all the time. I’ve been dressing badly and sleeping on cotton sheets.”
I snorted.
“I’m being serious.”
“It sounds like you’re depressed as you should be. Maybe you even have a little post-traumatic stress—”
“That means I’m broken.”
“No, trust me.”
He grabbed my hips and pulled my center to his leg. His length pushed against my most sensitive area. “You feel that?”
Shocked, I whispered, “Yes.”
“I just fucked someone today, and I’m lying in bed with Jay and you, wanting to take you both.”
“You...uh, love us.”
“I’m broken, Evie.” He rubbed against me and groaned. “I’ve been turned on by you, but this is different. I actually want to be inside of you.”
My body stiffened. “Umm...okay. That could just mean—”
“This doesn’t scare you?” He rubbed his cock against me.
Shit.
I glanced over my shoulder. Jay prowled outside on the balcony as he talked into his phone.
“Pipe, you...we should stop.”
“Malcolm has made me crazy with that shit.” Pipe kissed my cheek and then sucked on it a little, before nibbling at the skin.
A groan left me. I couldn’t even help it. “We can’t do this...”
“I know.” He went to my lips and dove his tongue into my mouth.
Jesus! What is going on with Pipe?
I shook against him as I sucked on him too. How many times had we kissed and pretended to be too drunk to care? At least, I pretended. It was never anything more than curiosity and just this need to have him even closer to me.
But Pipe liked men.
I nudged him away. “We have to stop.”
“Yes.” He let go of me and rubbed his face. “I’m sorry.”
“No, you’re an excellent kisser. You know I love your lips on me.”
“We may need to put that on pause for a while.”
“Never,” I blurted out. “You’re just depressed and horny and probably really emotional.”
“I had sex with someone today.” In the bed, he put more distance between us. “I’m not that horny.”
“Who did you have sex with?”
“An artist.”
“Who?” I asked.
“Does it matter?”
“Yes. I want to meet everyone now.”
Grumbling like a spoiled child, he got out of bed. “You are not going to start babysitting me.”
“I damn sure will.” I left the bed to and stalked after him. “Who’s the guy? And where have you been living? What are you going to do?”
“I’m an adult.” He walked into the bathroom.
Before he could close the door, I stopped it, got in, and closed it behind us. “Who’s this guy?”
He flipped on the lights. “You’ve lost it.”
“I just need to know.”
“No, you’re now going to second guess every damn decision I make from here on out.”
“No, I won’t.”
He directed his gaze down to the bra and panties. “Why don’t you leave and put some clothes on?”
I might’ve raised my voice in annoyance. “Stop trying to avoid the question!”
Frowning, he tilted my way and trapped me to the door. It banged against the frame. He kept his hands on each side of my head.
“Answer me, please,” I whispered.
He lowered his face until it was an inch from mine. “You think Jay is going to treat you right?”
“What?” I rolled my eyes. “This has nothing to do with Jay and me.”
“He loved you when you were together before. He just got greedy. You forgive him?”
“I...”
“Do you forgive him?”
“Yes.” I looked away. “Do you think that’s stupid?”
“No.” He dove for my neck and sucked.
I arched toward him, realized what was happening, and slid away. “Stop. I think we’ve both smoked too much.”
Pipe sucked on his bottom lip and then touched it with his thumb. “Get out of the bathroom, Evie.”
“Okay, but when you come out, we’re going to talk about what’s next for you.”
“No.”
I frowned. “Okay. How about tomorrow?”
“No.”
“Stop being an asshole.”
“You know how I love a good asshole.” His gaze lowered to my breasts again. He flexed his fingers in and out as if he planned on doing serious damage to my body. Scars or not, Pipe still emitted se
x. There was no denying it. It was his head that needed saving. He moved his attention to my panties.
I might’ve wet that red silk just from that look. How could Pipe do that to me? There he stood, injured and out of it, and still radiating sex.
Pipe scowled. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Why do you think?”
“Because I look like a freak?”
“I’m thinking the complete opposite.”
“Don’t pretend with me, Evie.”
“I’m not.”
“You are. I’m a freak.”
“Would you stop?” I pointed at him. “You’re going to be okay.”
“How the hell do you know that?” Pipe sneered.
“Because you know what Mom always says, ‘God wouldn’t give you anything you couldn’t handle.’”
He frowned. “I think God is mad at me.”
“I doubt it.”
“Who knows?”
“God,” I replied.
I think he tried not to smile, but he did anyway. “Will I survive?”
“Yes. Sometimes you have to just let go of all the pain and just pray.”
“This from the woman who is on television punching the shit out of Malcolm.”
“I didn’t say I was an angel. I’m just repeating what my mother always says.”
“Angel,” Pipe muttered.
“What?”
“Nothing.” He ran both hands over his head. “You and Jay are the only two people I trust on this earth. You always have to be real with me. Promise me that. No lies.”
“Always.”
“Pinky fucking promise.”
I wagged my pinky. “Always.”
“What were you really thinking then?”
“Really? Are we back to that?”
“Yes.”
I swallowed and just admitted it, “I’m trying to understand why I’m creaming my panties just from one of your looks, and even though you’re brooding and being a dick, for some reason, it’s kind of hot.”
He let out a long breath. “You sound like Kush.”
“Is Kush the artist?”
“Yes.”
“He thinks you’re beautiful too?”
“Yes.”
“Then he has eyes and a heart.”
“Or he feels sorry for me.”
“Or it’s a truth you can’t deal with, like me thinking you’re beautiful too.”
He stepped to me, too close. “You creamed your panties over me?”
I pressed myself against the door. I had to be careful. Pipe wasn’t being Pipe. Jay might’ve come back in. For all I knew, he could’ve been right outside the door, listening to everything.
Would he understand that I loved him and just had this odd attraction to Pipe? It was just this forbidden fruit thing. Nothing more. Would he get that at that moment, Pipe needed to understand how sexy I still thought he was? How amazing he continued to be? How no knife or blade could ruin the man he was supposed to be?
I looked up at my injured friend. “Sometimes when I’m in bed, I think about you.”
He placed his hands against my hips. “And will you still think of me?”
“Even more.”
He slipped one hand to the front of my panties and moved them down, grasping at the space between my thighs. I almost lost my balance. Oh shit. We can’t do this. Still a shiver of desire flowed through me.
“You are wet.” Pipe rubbed over my panties, found my clit, and circled it, over and over. “I wonder how it would feel.”
The room spun around me. I forced myself to stay in the moment, but his fingers, Jesus, they had all of my attention. “You’ve never been with a woman?”
“Never.”
Noise sounded on the other side of the bathroom.
Jay called for us. “Pipe? Evie?”
Shit. Awesome. ‘Hey, Jay. We’re just in the bathroom, having a little freak fest, Evie-style.’
I moved away from Pipe. “Okay.”
“I’ve always wanted to know how you tasted.” Pipe took his hand from my panties and licked the tips. All I could do was stare at his fingers as he sucked on them.
“Pipe?” Jay called out again. “Evie.”
Still my gaze remained on his mouth and hand.
“We’re in the bathroom,” Pipe yelled back. “You better get her. I’m very close to doing something we both won’t like.”
The bathroom door opened before I could tell Pipe to shut up. I hadn’t planned on keeping the moment a secret, but that particular time wasn’t the best to confess to Jay. Emotions rose high in the air. All of us were angry and on edge. We’d smoked enough and needed sleep.
Jay peeked in and glanced at both of us. “Everything okay?”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “It’s a long story.”
“What is?” Jay raised his eyebrows.
“I was just playing with Evie’s pussy.” Pipe shrugged.
“Wow. That’s what we’re going to say?” I held my hands out.
Jay twisted his face in confusion.
Pipe left the room and almost bumped Jay as he moved pass. “I’ll be right back. I need some fresh air.”
“Wait, no.” I ran after him. “It’s okay. That was weird in the bathroom, but it’s okay—”
“I was close to fucking you, Evie.” Pipe picked up his jacket and began to put it on.
“What?” Jay came out, and his voice didn’t sound calm.
“Long story, Jay.” I hurried after Pipe. “Just give me a minute. It will all make sense. Pipe, where are you going?”
“Out.” Pipe climbed into his jacket.
“No.”
“I’m an adult, Evie.”
“You’re beyond intoxicated. Have you even eaten any food today?”
“I had your stupid bacon pizza. Remember?”
“Oh yeah.”
“If anything is going to kill me, it will be the fucking bacon pizza.”
“Must you and Jay complain about the bacon?”
Jay chose that time to get between us. “Wait a minute. Pipe was trying to have sex with you?”
Pipe put the hood over his head. “I’m going so I won’t continue to be a shitty friend.”
Jay raised his eyebrows at me.
“It’s a long story,” I muttered.
A sigh left Jay’s lips. “So something happened between you and Pipe in the bathroom?”
“Yes.” I checked to make sure Pipe didn’t leave the room.
Thankfully, he just stood there in that silly black coat, resembling some sort of convenience store robber. “I touched Evie’s panties. She told me that I made her wet, and I wanted to see. And I love you, Jay. I do, but for some reason, I just want to defile her.”
“Uh, alrighty.” I waved my hands in the air. “Let’s not be too dramatic. Pipe is off his path. He’s a bit loopy. He just needs to heal and—”
“You sound like I’m a fucking superhero that lost his powers,” Pipe interrupted me.
“Ah!” Jay stopped us both before we could go back and forth. “Evie get in bed.” Jay turned to Pipe. “Take that stupid jacket off and get your butt in bed too. I don’t care about what happened in the bathroom. But what I know is that I’m not letting you leave my side.”
Pipe shook his head. “I am a—”
“Get your ass in bed!” Jay yelled.
Unzipping his jacket, Pipe grunted. “Looks like father is pissed.”
“I don’t think we should be smoking anymore tonight,” Jay added.
“Captain Obvious,” Pipe muttered and dragged himself back to bed.
“Let’s try to keep our hands to ourselves too.” Jay came over to my side and lifted the blanket for me as I slid in.
“Is that some sort of warning?” Pipe got on my other side. Now, instead of Pipe laying between us, I was in the middle of both of them.
Well, this certainly won’t solve my panty wetting problem tonight.
“It’s not a threa
t, Pipe.” Jay lay down next to me. I scooted his way and rested my head on his chest. He kept both of his hands behind his head as his body relaxed under me.
“Not a threat?” Pipe asked. “Interesting.”
“You’re not my competition, and even if you were, you would probably be the only man I would be okay with Evie falling for,” Jay said.
“And on that note, we say goodnight.” I yawned.
“I find this topic interesting.” Pipe scooted over and spooned me. He was still hard. I didn’t think he was trying to touch me with his length, but still it pressed against me. “Let’s stay up and discuss this more.”
Fuck. I probably won’t get any sleep tonight.
“I don’t want to talk about this,” I said. “It’s a stupid topic.”
“Then maybe we should sing,” Pipe suggested.
“Hell no,” Jay said. “I’ve embarrassed myself enough this week.”
“Why were you naked on the balcony again?” Pipe asked.
“Evie is dating some nerdy white guy that plays piano on Skype,” Jay said.
“Oh, so you were being a dumbass and spying or is it even worse?” Pipe asked.
“Worse,” I mumbled.
“Hey, don’t judge me.” Jay chuckled a little.
“We should talk about what happened in the bathroom,” Pipe said.
I groaned. “Let’s go to sleep.”
“I second that,” Jay added.
“You both are ganging up on me.”
“Boo hoo,” I whined.
“That mouth is going to get you in trouble.” Pipe cupped my ass. “I should’ve taken you in the bathroom.”
Jay pushed Pipe’s hands away. “We’re in the last days of this touching Evie stuff.”
“Oh really?” Pipe kept his hands to himself. “Do tell.”
“Can we all go to sleep?” I asked.
“Fine. I’ll just hum a little lullaby.” And he did. He commenced to mumbling some fast song.
“What is that?” I snuggled closer to Jay. “It sounds familiar.”
“Maybe I can spit a few lines,” Pipe offered.
“Am I going to regret it?” I asked.
“You know you will, Evie,” Jay muttered.
“Sounds like a DJ request.” Pipe beatboxed for a few seconds into a familiar rhythm and then rapped the lines, “Get it in, all day, I pimp like Jay. Got the Heisman, in ruining—”
“I totally regretted that,” I interrupted. “You’re now on rapping timeout for the rest of the evening.”
