  Prologue

Around the age of seven or eight I began to realize how fortunate I was as a child. I had the perfect family and childhood. I was popular for many reasons, but it was around that age I realized the differences in the upbringings between my friends and myself.

My parents were still together; loving, nourishing and caring. Theirs? Hell, they were lucky if they were with one of their parents. Some had parents that couldn’t give two shits about them. They would often come to my house to escape from their catastrophic home life. Where we could afford vacations, they were lucky if they had dinner every night.

I cherished the times that I could share the fortune of my childhood with them. Growing up, I was always allowed to bring one friend with us on vacation but there is one trip that stands out. My family, and of course a friend, all went to Alabama. The friend who went with us on this vacation had never left the state, which, for me was incredibly odd. While sitting on the beach he looked over at me and said, “Man, this is the best week of my life and I couldn’t possibly thank you enough.” My initial thought was, ‘Meh. It’s just another vacation… no big deal,’ but instead, I responded, “For sure. Let’s enjoy ourselves and find some girls on spring break.”

Women meant sex, or at least the chance at it. What they had between their legs could take you to a completely different place, offering a release, of many kinds. Every single one has the ability to take you somewhere different, yet all eventually yielding the same result. While inside a woman, nothing else matters.

As I grew older, I began to wonder if, or rather when, the problems would start to build in life, more specifically with women. I mean, yeah... I had family deaths, school problems, and even caught an attitude with my parents at times. You know, the basic teenager bullshit. After high school, I moved away. I wanted more than the ‘picture perfect’ and living within society norms. A rebel, I suppose, with curiosity that would never be satisfied by staying where I was. I had to get away and at eighteen, that is exactly what I did.

I had to move out of the restraints of normality to start a new chapter in life. One thing is for sure, love was the last thing I had on my mind. I wanted to rage, get tattoos, hook up with chicks and meet new people. Exploring outside the perfect little life my parents brought me up in seemed to be a much better fit for me than remaining within the confinements. So, I moved to Loveland, Colorado. Ironic. The one thing I did not want, was in the name of the city I chose. Its name, for me, wasn’t representative of ‘love’ itself for a person, but for the lifestyle found there. Moving to the land of the fresh powder, more than just flakes of snow, ended up being the coldest times of my life. In the cold of Loveland, I sank into the deepest, darkest pit of my life.

  Chapter 1

  Loveland

Love is a slippery slope - much like the mountains in Loveland. But, the love most slipped on, isn’t the love I sought. I had no inclination of entertaining the person to person, intimate love. I had witnessed it all my life and it wasn’t something I was really interested in. A different love came at the prime age of eighteen, only it was in the form of a white powder and we aren’t talking about the stuff that fell from the sky and covered the breathtaking mountains my city was made of. No, it was the kind you would always chase, much like women. Both offering different kinds of cravings and pleasure. The scenery was beyond beautiful and the people there were unbelievably nice. I should have paid closer attention when I chose to move to a town called Loveland, when not expecting to find love. I chose Loveland because rumor had it, the love was in the town, therefore I didn’t need to look for it in a single person.

I wasn’t in Loveland long before I got my first job working at the local ski resort as a chairlift operator. This position meant meeting a lot of people, seeing a lot of faces and making friends quickly. I wasn’t shy and made myself known rather quickly. While working, I met a born and raised native named Scottie, a crazy twenty-three-year-old cocaine dealer, covered in tattoos. It didn’t take long before Scottie introduced me to the party scene and after being raised in such a well-to-do family, I was beyond ready to test my limits, not wanting to coast through the simple life.

One day while working, Scottie stopped by my chairlift and invited me to come over later that evening after getting off work. Of course, being the new guy in town, I agreed without hesitation.

  •••••••••••••

I clock out from work, drive home fast and take a quick shower. I throw on a nice pair of jeans, a hoodie and my favorite snapback and send Scottie a quick message to let him know I am on my way. I pull up to Scottie’s massive masterpiece, unsure what to expect. As I walk up to the front door, my eyes scan the exterior of the house, immediately noticing for a twenty-three-year-old on his own, he’s doing pretty good for himself.

I can hear music coming from inside as I ring the doorbell a few times, patiently waiting for Scottie to answer. While waiting, I ponder the various possibilities of what the night may have in store. One thing was for certain, whatever happens I am ready for it to be a wild and great night. Beyond ready to be honest. It’s time for me to get out and enjoy life, try new things, meet new people. Being new to this town, it’ll be nice to hang with Scottie and his friends tonight.

The door flies open, as Scottie appears in front of me with an all-white teeth smile stretched across his face. His eyes looked glazed over and his pupils dilated, and I can smell the liquor on his breath. He yells over the music blasting behind him, “My dude! What’s up Michael?” extending his hand for a handshake, pulling me in with a pat on the back. A typical ‘bro’ greeting. “Come on in,” he says, turning sideways, his arm extending in the direction of the foyer. The foyer has beautifully stained hardwood floors with a crystal chandelier, reflecting light through various prisms because of the multiple faceted crystals.

“Not much, man. Nice place,” I respond as I walk in the house, paying attention to my surroundings. He must be doing well in the drug dealing business to be living in a house this fucking big.

My eyes move from each beam of light coming from the chand
elier, still unsure of what to expect, considering this is my first time hanging out with Scottie. The giggling of females begins to echo down the sparsely filled hallway leading away from the foyer.

“Thanks, bro. Follow me, I’ve got a few surprises for you,” he winks, motioning his head towards the hallway where the giggles are coming from. I nod as I follow him into the living room, if you could call it that. A theatre or entertainment room would be far more fitting considering the extra-large TV hanging over a stone accented fireplace, surround sound speakers of superb quality strategically hung on the walls throughout the room and top of the line caramel leather couches placed around a hand carved wood coffee table with a glass top. Surely, he had an interior decorator come and do this for him because this is not normal for a bachelor.

Apparently, I was late to the party considering the number of people already in attendance, most of the guests consisting of beautiful women. The ratio of women to men is probably two to one, the perfect ratio for a guy. I can’t count the number of people in attendance but this is exactly where I need to be, somewhere to free my mind at let loose. Scottie begins to introduce me to the numerous people in the house. I extend my hand to greet each one but if I’m honest, I didn’t catch any names over the music coming through the surround sound speakers. I’ll ask the names of the ones I’m interested in later. I’m not too good with names anyway.

The stunning marble topped bar sat off to the left of this massive size room, displaying a large variety of liquor bottles which apparently have an open invitation for the taking, judging by the number of people helping themselves. At the end of the bar sat a few mirrored plates, sparking my curiosity.

“Help yourself to a drink, man,” Scottie nods towards the bar, “Mi casa, es su casa.”

Accepting Scottie’s invitation, I help myself, pouring a shot of vodka considering I've never had much more than a beer. Tossing back a shot, then one more just to catch up, I spot a beautiful blonde enter the room and immediately she stands out to me. I watch as she navigates the room of party goers, keeping to herself while hugging a beer to her chest, so that it doesn’t spill as she makes her way over to the large caramel leather sofa that fills up half of the room.

Her blonde hair straight, and just a little past her shoulders looks like gold silk as the lights overhead shine down above her. Her outfit was rather simple, considering many wore cocktail dresses showing off all the goods, hoping to get laid, hers nothing like that. Instead she’s dressed casually in a pair of jeans, hugging her curves perfectly with a pair of black boots and a simple gray t-shirt. She doesn’t seem into the party scene as much as some of the others in attendance, as evidenced by her attire and her behavior. She’s not dancing, or tossing back shots at the bar, or hanging all over the random dudes here. Instead she’s alone, simply sitting back watching the party progress into something more, rather than participating in it.

The party is full of incredibly good looking women, but there’s something about this girl that makes her stand out. These other chicks in their barely there dresses and hooker heels and way too much makeup, they look sexy, don’t get me wrong, but this girl. She’s a different kind of sexy. She’s simply beautiful without fucking trying. She’s gorgeous in her own way, the difference between her and the others separated her from the rest in a good way, at least for me. All I know is I must talk to talk to this girl and if I play my cards right, end the night exploring every inch of her beautiful body or at least maybe get a date with her.

Leaving the bar, I walk over to the couch where she’s sitting and sit down beside her, “Is this seat taken?” I ask as I sit, kicking back, letting my body melt into the soft caramel leather sofa that I suddenly wish I had in my place because it’s the best fucking couch I’ve ever sat on.

I could sit here forever. My body is feeling relaxed and my head slightly spinning from the shots I took. Crossing my leg over so that my right foot is resting on my knee, I shift slightly towards the beautiful blonde and flash her a small smile. She glances shyly at me before taking a sip of her beer. My eyes zero in on her lips as they press against the bottle and find myself wondering how her lips would look sucking on the tip of my dick.

“Nope. It’s all yours.” She lightly laughs, pulling the bottle away from her mouth.

“Perfect. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to have some jealous boyfriend flip out because I stole his seat and sat down beside his girl.” This move works every time. It’s the easiest way to start a conversation with a chick and find out at the same time if some asshole is going to come try and start shit with you for talking to his girl or not.

She lets out another sexy laugh, “No jealous boyfriends to worry about here. I’m as single as they get. This is actually my first time going out in I don’t know how long.” She suddenly seems to remember why she sticks to herself with a confused look on her face. I feel so out of my comfort zone at things like this, but this is how I need to make friends. So, I just try to sit back and have a few drinks while talking to new people. I only hope I never act as stupid as some of these people are acting. A small smile curls up at the corner of her lips as her eyes shift from a group of people playing flip cup at the bar, up to mine.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t happy to hear you’re single.” I notice her cheeks flush slightly as my eyes rake over her body before settling back on her gorgeous face.

Tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, she asks,

  “How did you meet Scottie?”

“I work at the ski resort, running the ski lifts. We met one day when he was there with a few friends skiing. I told him that I’m new to the area and don’t really know anyone here besides the guys I work with. So, he told me about this party tonight, and here I am.”

  Suddenly Scottie yells,

“Cool and calm until the blow makes you want to fuck a lot.” Instantaneously, a white powdered substance is introduced by Scottie as ‘Snow White.’ He begins to chop up the piles with his card, on one of the mirrored plates he picked up from the end of the bar, while many sat around damn near salivating at the sight of it. After chopping it up, he separates what is now a thin powder, into precise lines, making sure each one is the same length to get the perfect high from one line.

I watch as several others use a rolled up hundred-dollar bill to inhale the perfectly formed lines. Although this is a first for me, I don’t hesitate when the rolled-up bill is handed to me and the mirrored plate slid in front of me. Putting one end of the bill straight into the cocaine, the other to my nose, one heavy inhale is all it takes to induce a burning sensation leading straight to my brain. Feeling a tingle in my nose, I sit back on the couch, watching the mirror get passed around until each line disappears. Just as I entered the abyss of the high, I notice the beautiful girl, whose name I sadly forgot to ask, pass up on the white substance offered to everyone willing to partake, before climbing off the couch and disappearing into the crowd of people now dancing and grinding on one another to the music.

I feel the constant urge to sniff as if my nose is running from a cold, the odd sensation of the once powdered substance now in an unfamiliar form, burning as it ran down the back of my throat. With every sniff, I entered a realm I was completely unfamiliar with. My heart is racing so fast I feel like I can hear the beat out loud, the sudden urge of needing to move to release the immense amount of energy, an obvious result of the powder. The music blaring through the surround sound speakers is so loud I am unable to comprehend the lyrics but has me wanting to move, to dance.

Unlike Scottie, whom now has a Latino girl bent over the couch, balls deep in her, everyone seemingly ignoring her moans overpowering the music, and the fact that he’s fucking her right here in the middle of the room in front of everyone is unbearable. I have no desire to fuck on the couch. At least not out in the open, or with anyone random unless I was fucked up enough.

Everyone begins to loosen up, interacting more as the high escalates, tipping bottles back, c
onsisting of various forms of alcohol throughout the night. I catch myself talking a mile a minute to anyone and everyone willing to listen to me ramble. My eyes randomly scan the premises for the beautiful blonde who caught my attention earlier. She was different, obviously. Curious what she was doing here if she didn’t partake in the festivities taking place. These kinds of parties must be a normal occurrence for a rich drug dealer and his posse. Despite my comfortable upbringing, this was far different than what I was used to, and I liked it. Probably more than I should.

  •••••••••••••

Waking to the sound of a blender, my head is instantly pounding, feeling like I was hit by a baseball bat. Rubbing my eyes, getting the glaze out and coming to, I realize I was on the couch, yes, the same couch the Latina girl was bent over. Scottie walked into the room he asked me,

“Hey bro, how are you feeling?” as he handed me a green smoothie substance.

Stating “the kale will equal out the bad shit we put in our body.”

“Complete shit, man,” I responded, grabbing the smoothie.

“It’ll happen, should be some left on the mirror, it'll keep you going! Make sure you finish that smoothie!” I walked to the mirror, grabbed the rolled-up bill and took a line, thanking Scottie for the great night which was still a haze and then headed home to my studio apartment.

On the ride home, besides remembering those dark skinned, extra-large boobs bouncing over the couch and of course doing cocaine for the first time, all I could remember was the beautiful blonde girl, who just sat back and watched the party transpire. For the life of me I can't remember her name, I just remember looking at her and thinking, she will be mine one day.

I pull into the apartment complex, and on my way to my room I dump out that nasty green shit, whatever kale even was. I walk into my place, seeing the dishes piled up, my laundry on the floor, forgetting I take care of myself now. Ignoring the mess, I take a seat on my couch, my not so caramel leather couch. Reaching into my pockets to empty out the memories of last night, I’m hoping what's in there brings them back. I pull out a lighter, rolled up dollar bill, a condom I didn't use, that is for sure and the last thing I pull out had my heart skipping a beat.
