Wicked Wolf Shifters: BBW Werewolf Paranormal Romance

by Anna Craig

Cassie pushed herself upright. A silken royal blue sheet slipped off her body, though it had hardly been necessary with the gentle summer day percolating outside the window. The window—and the sheet—of her new home. Trevor's quarters, as he'd called them last night. Quarters, room, palatial space, whatever. It was huge and furnished with things she knew had to be worth thousands of dollars. Each. The wolf pack clearly was loaded beyond belief. Cassie'd always known the pack lived in an enormous house that was more like a castle than a mere home, but seeing the inside of it told her they were even wealthier than she'd ever dreamed possible. She was living a fairytale.

With some wicked bad monsters. And one really arrogant guy who seriously belonged in some old-time century, alpha or no.

“You,” and she stabbed him in his decidedly sculpted chest with one accusatory finger, “told me I'm your mate. You whisked me off to this—this palace of a bedroom,” and she wildly gesticulated around the trappings that just screamed outrageously expensive, “made mad crazy love to me all night long, and now you're telling me I only need to call you sir in public? Really?”

Cassie's chest heaved with the indignant passion of her words. Trevor's gaze slide to her naked breasts. His gorgeous aqua eyes suddenly heavy-lidded, he reached out to touch her, dragging a fingertip across first one nipple, then the other. Cassie's breath exploded out of her again, but this time it definitely wasn't in indignation.

  “Okay,” she said faintly.

Had she just been telling him off? How silly of her.

And really, how on earth she could be aroused again by such a simple touch, after being fucked senseless all night long, was a mystery she didn't understand and perhaps didn't need to. “Okay, that's fine.”

“Indeed,” Trevor's voice purred through the room. “Indeed you are fine, my sweet Cassandra.”

“Uh-huh,” she panted back at him. The man's touch somehow just made her coherent thoughts slide away. Surrender, mate, whatever. If this was what life had in store for her forevermore, she was completely on board with it all. Go right ahead. Touch away. Sir.

“You shall call me sir in public,” he went on, his fingers twirling some delicious little dance over her hard nipples and pulling a little moan out of her as well. “Yes?”

“Mm-hmm,” Cassie answered. She shamelessly thrust her chest toward him. Absolutely. Call him sir in public. Sure, yes sir, no problem at all.

“You shall show me the deference and respect due to my position in this pack. Because your position is beneath me. Like this,” he rumbled, and suddenly tossed Cassie onto her back so he could straddle her.

Squeaking with surprise as she was flipped down, Cassie then got a good look at the evidence of her effect on him nestled right between her breasts as Trevor's strong thighs gripped her sides. His cock was hard already, just a few inches away from her face. Oh, okay. That was kind of nice. He growled something low under his breath as her eyes widened and her own breath caught a bit in her throat. “Cassandra,” he said, warning in his tone. “Your expression stirs me to want to do things to you.”

She gulped at that promise—she hoped it was a promise—and raised her eyes to his. “Okay,” she whispered, reaching a finger up to trace his collarbone. His skin shivered under her touch, sending a clench of desire bolting down between her legs. “Yes, please.”

Leaning down, Trevor's magnetizing blue-green eyes came closer to Cassie, filling up everything in her vision. He really was a ridiculously magnificent man, she thought in a haze of desire. A little brooding, sure, and old-fashioned, definitely. But could the man fuck. Oh, god, could he fuck.

Because that's what this was all about. Just the sex. For a pack surrender, anyway. Maybe for a mate, too? She had no idea, to be honest. All she'd known growing up were the incessant rumors that swirled around about wolf shifter mores and morals, all of which were apparently pretty loose. It was just about sex, and not much more. Right?

“Cassandra,” Trevor breathed, before reaching her mouth and taking it with his own. His lips played over hers with clear intent and full possession before his tongue insistently thrust into her mouth. The feel of it make Cassie tremble down to her toenails and back up to her hair. She felt like a wild creature, not human.

  A wolf's mate?

Trevor gently fisted a hand in her hand, pulling just the slightest bit. Totally unable to help it, Cassie moaned into his mouth. Crazy. A man was pulling her hair, and she liked it. She was certifiable.

  Certifiably turned on, was what.

The alpha of the pack moved his head back just enough to say, “Once again I shall show you your place here.”

The rough cadence of his voice echoed down into Cassie's bones, and she shivered again with spasms of anticipated delight. Clearly, she was a shameless slut as far as this man was concerned. Must be the mate thing, she thought. Not a problem at all, no sir. “Oh, please do. Yes,” she whispered back, looking into the eyes that gleamed with a decidedly savage intent.

Trevor moved his head back to kiss her again as Cassie brought up her arms to encircle his huge, muscled back. God, to be able to feel the hard, immense shape of this man on top of her, his swelling cock pressing insistently into her thigh—oh, yeah. It was just like all the dirty books she liked to read. Except way, way better when it was for real.

Just as she started to run her fingers down his back, a sharp, swift rap at the door made them both jump. To her serious disappointment, Trevor yanked himself away from her and roared “What the hell is it now?” in the general direction of the door.

Dammit. Was anything in this place normal? Did the other wolves somehow know when their alpha was, ah, preoccupied, and choose to disrupt it because there was major rule-breaking going on or something?

“Trevor!” an overly cheerful female voice sounded out, slightly muffled through the massive door. “Rise and shine! It's time for you to face reality this morning.”

Cassie watched in fascination as an incredible play of emotions suddenly scattered themselves across Trevor's gorgeous face for a nanosecond before it once again dropped into inscrutable hardness. Annoyance, resignation, and an unexpected blast of devotion that had Cassie's insides squeeze.

Wait a minute. Was she feeling a tickle of jealousy that the alpha of the pack, the man who'd roughly (but extremely skillfully, she admitted in satisfied remembrance) taken her virginity, the man she barely knew at all, the man to whom her life was bound from now on whether she liked it or not, had a note of strong affection in his voice for whatever female wolf waited behind that door?

Well, that was dumb. Even so, she felt oddly lonely as Trevor disentangled himself from her and strode to the door, the sheet casually wrapped around his waist. She pulled the light cover over her as he walked off, feeling also hot and bothered and once again interrupted, which she hoped wasn't about to become a bothersome pattern. Watching him move purposefully toward the door, the muscles rippling in his back as he walked, Cassie felt another blast of that wild heat shoot through her. That gorgeous man, that amazing wolf shifter of legend and fact, was her mate. Hers. Her mate.

Whatever exactly that might mean for her, it made her feel very safe, strangely proud, and wickedly aroused all at once.

  Chapter 2

Trevor wrenched open the door, which swung silently on its hinges despite the abuse he trended to heap on it when he was feeling irritated. Not that he could remain terribly irritated at the moment. He never could at the smiling little wench outside his room, even though she'd interrupted something he'd really hope to continue.

Tamsin grinned at him, her deliberately perky mood spreading around him, soothing him. As far as younger sisters went, Trevor had been quite lucky with this one. He trusted her more than anyone else in the pack. Would trust her with his life, if need be. A feminine mirror image, Tamsin had inherited their mother's calmer disposition. Of course, she didn't lead the pack, which draped a mantle of burden on Trevor he very privately admitted sometimes veered dangerous
ly close to crushing. But she understood better than anyone the tightrope he constantly walked, with many of the other males in the pack awaiting their turn to challenge him for the role of alpha. Calculating their next moves. Always watching for any sign of weakness.

A weakness such as a human mate.

“The council awaits you in chambers. Sir,” Tamsin added a little loudly, pitching her voice over Trevor's shoulder and winking at him. He narrowed his eyes at her and quirked up the side of his lip in mock growl. Yes, Tamsin was another female who never had to address him appropriately in private, only in public. The only other female. Clearly, she played the role now for the sake of Cassandra.

Just the thought of his new mate liquefied Trevor's insides even as it made him stagger with the implications. He could feel Cassandra's stare on his back, sending prickles of longing up and down his spine. He'd just been about to show her how he would enjoy his mornings to proceed. Damn.

The council, however, would not wait. He pictured them now, sitting around and frothing in their impatience to sanction him for his crime. To see him crumble under this new, bizarre happening. To circle around him, ready to attack when he was vulnerable.

Trevor's blood boiled as his disappointed cock ached from its interruption. He would show the council how crimes were sanctioned. Interrupting their alpha's pleasure with his new mate was a crime in his view. Not to mention being so cowardly of his not insignificant wrath that they sent his sister to bear the message, knowing he would never censure her for such news.

“I'm certain the pack's illustrious council awaits me with bated breath,” he said to Tamsin, keeping his voice even. “And what precisely is their crisis now?”

Tamsin shook her dark head, still smiling, although it was a little strained. “The recent matter of the new surrender, as they called her. Whom I would like to meet, you know,” she added, trying to peek around Trevor's shoulder. “She's probably in need of a little more guidance than you've been able to offer. She needs another woman to help her settle into her life here. Sir.” She stuck her tongue out at him after she said that, still blocked from Cassandra's view.

“Perhaps,” Trevor said, checking a silly impulse to roll his eyes at his impertinent sister—who of course she never behaved like this around him where others could see—and biting his tongue to check the harsh words he'd prefer to say about the council. He'd save those for the council chambers.

“Cassandra,” he called, turning his head a bit so he could see his mate, his stunning, beautiful mate, tucked into the bed, watching him with her glorious blue eyes. “I have matters that must be attended. I shall leave you in the capable hands of my sister. She will acquaint you with what you need to know for now.”

Cassandra opened her mouth to speak, the look on her face promising about a dozen questions—she was a talkative creature, he'd already noticed—but he shook his head at her despite wishing he could simply give in to his dark desires. He wanted nothing more than to gently close the door in his sister's face, then pounce upon the delectable, satisfying, utterly confounding woman in his bed. But his council wanted answers. Demanded them, in fact, the critical, exhausting lot of them. Trevor ground his teeth for a moment. The sooner he dispensed with the foolishness of the pack's council, who sought to curb his power as alpha, the sooner he could return to Cassandra and her pleasures.

And the sooner he could figure out what on earth to do with her. An unbidden memory rose again, sharp and causing a strange, ugly sensation inside him. A sensation that felt suspiciously like pain. He didn't like it, and shoved the unpleasantness back into the shadowed caverns of memory where it belonged.

From the bed, still spread beneath the simple cover he'd left her with, Cassandra looked at him, her eyes still somewhat hazy with lust. The tousled state of her hair spread around her face unleashed a bolt of need through Trevor.

“Wait a moment,” he said to his sister, but his gaze didn't leave Cassandra's. Advancing back to the bed, letting the sheet slide from his hips to puddle in a silky mass on the floor, Trevor hear his sister sigh in some exasperation, murmuring something beneath her breath, but he didn't try hard to hear what it was. His thoughts centered on the luscious woman, barely into womanhood really, waiting in his bed.

The council would love it if he came to them draped in the scent of the human who was his mate. Well, fuck the bastards. They could glare and drop hypocrisies on him all they wanted. She was his mate, and he would claim her as such.

First, though, he needed to kiss her again.

“But what—and who is—and wait a minute,” she finally dared to speak, but again Trevor shook his head at her.

“First, this,” he said, hearing the need and low and dark in his voice. Cassandra looked at him, her soft pink lips parting a little as she understood the expression on his face. “First,” he said again, lightly vaulting onto the bed from its edge and deliberately pouncing on her so could hear her gasp, “your lips tell me they desire to be kissed again.”

“But,” she said again, looking toward the door with a little embarrassment, her blue eyes wide despite the increased pulse he could see beneath the creamy skin of her soft neck. Ah, yes, she wanted this.

“Hush,” he said to her, trailing his fingers across her cheek. “A single kiss to take with me to the council, as a reminder of why I face them.”

“Um, okay,” his funny little human mate said, her eyes back on his. Her pulse vibrated faster, and the sweet scent of her skin and hair surrounded him as he nuzzled his face into her neck.

Trevor groaned at the knowledge she was thoroughly naked beneath the bed's silken cover. Finding her lips, he took them with his, slipping his tongue into her mouth. The sweet answering groan of her welcome instantly hardened him again to granite, as did her plush taste of candied spices and the musk of his own scent left on her, all over her.

  Marking her as his.

Cassandra's arms wound behind his neck as she gave in to the kiss, the soft mounds of her breasts pressing into his chest and her hips surging up to meet his. He almost lost his focus at that, his head spinning and roaring with his wolf's urging to take his mate again, right now, to claim her fiercely as his. Burying his face into her sweetness, tasting her mouth, pressing her against the bed, he groaned against her lips despite himself.

Quickly, Trevor pulled back, his heart thudding hard against its cage of bones as old, vulnerable memories flooded him. Focus. He had to focus. She was his mate, yes. But he was still the alpha. He could not lose control. Never again.

Cassandra's sea-blue eyes looked up at him, slightly confused, her lips full and rosy, gently pummeled into being even more lush due to his ministrations upon them. Her chest rose and fell in an extremely appealing manner with her quickened breath.

Trevor's wolf growled within him, deep and low. Yes. The time to face the council was now, while his thwarted lust kept him at the peak edge of his strength and power. He chose not to dwell on pondering too deeply why a kiss from this woman could launch him into being so intensely aware, alert, utterly in predator mode. Mate or no, he would not allow certain things to happen with her.

Pulling back more, he stood above her, well aware of his cock jutting out before him and his own racing breaths, which he tried to slow. “You will be under the care of Tamsin. My sister. You are to obey her in all things until I return. Understood?”

Cassandra's brow wrinkled. Oddly enough, her little frown was enticing. After a moment, “Yes, sir,” was all she said, flicking her fingers toward him in what seemed to be a salute.

Trevor narrowed his eyes at his saucy little mate. She thought to mock him and his demands. Apparently, she still had trouble grasping precisely why she had to obey.

“I will return soon,” he said, letting his wolf flow over him so his voice truly growled. At that, Cassandra's eyes widened excessively. Trevor bared his teeth in a lethal smile, then turned to leap off the bed, effortlessly shifting into his full wolf form as he did so. He glanced ba
ck mid-leap, teeth still bared but now far longer and more deadly, and lightly snapped his jaws at her. Her strangled squeaking gasp assured him his display of power had appropriately chastened the impudent lass. Standing just outside the doorway, Tamsin shook her head a little at his demonstration, though she managed to hide her smile.

As he padded forcefully out the door and down the hallway toward the council chambers, his sister's low, worried warning also reached his keen ears. “Watch your back, alpha. Trouble awaits you there.”

  Chapter 3

Cassie lay frozen in the extremely comfortable bed, which moments before had been inviting and warm but now seemed barren. Not just because Trevor had left it—and yes, that was such an old-fashioned way of thinking, but really, the man just sizzled all her senses in the best way—but because he'd left it as a wolf.

A huge one, too. One minute he was the drop-dead sexy man who'd altered her entire universe in one day, the next he was the huge, fanged beast of legend. He was a black wolf, too, which made total sense because of his hair, but the thing that had held her most mesmerized were his eyes. They were the exact same aqua color as when he was human. It was a striking combination, and seared into her mind. She would always recognize Trevor in his wolf form.

He also had really large, really sharp teeth. Seeing evidence of his shifterness made her shiver just a little, although she was pretty certain now she wouldn't be killed by any wolves anytime soon. She hoped.

  “Ahem.”

Cassie almost jumped out of her skin at the light cough by the doorway.

“May I come in?” The voice was sweet, but the ring of authority edged it. Definitely related to the alpha. Cassie wondered how serious those ties were in the shifter world, which she admittedly knew little about. She suddenly realized she had a huge learning curve ahead.

Heart pounding, cover pulled back up under her chin, Cassie nodded before she realized the woman had stayed in the hallway and couldn't see her. “Yes. Um, Tamsin? Right?”
