He still wasn’t sure if he was going to go to the session with Jacinda or try to get hold of Dr. Jones. The more he thought about it the more he realized that he just needed to relax again, get used to being around people and be friendly. He sighed as he still didn’t quite feel like going to see Jacinda but didn’t want to be unfit for the rest of his days. For once, his flashbacks actually helped him figure things out as he heard echoes of his superiors telling him to do what he has to do repeatedly in his head. He gritted his teeth and made his decision, knowing he had to go to the session with Jacinda.
When it came time for the session, Henson headed for the office, looking forward more to talking to Stacy than to his actual session with Jacinda. It was so rare to talk to someone he had no interest in. He made himself continue on, feeling himself wanting to turn back and go home every step of the way. It was worse that the first time he had gone there but at least that time he had talking to Stacy to look forward to. When he walked in she flashed a smile at him but held up her finger as she finished up some paperwork.
“Hi, nice to see you.” Stacy said. “How’s the rest of your day been?”
“Are you the secretary or the counselor?” Another patient asked in an irritated tone of voice from the waiting room just to the side.
“Sir, she happens to be a friend of mine.” Henson said in a calm yet stern tone of voice but squeezed his jaws shut afterwards. He could feel a bit of anger start to rise in him. Stacy didn't need people like that.
Apparently standing up to the man was enough to get him to quiet right down. Henson did his best to keep a scowl off his face and let go of the anger. He stood there for a moment while Stacy finished up her paperwork but over the counter he could see into Jacinda’s office. She looked over at him and his stomach knotted up with nervousness.
“So what were you doing down that way earlier?” Henson asked Stacy, looking down at her as he started to think maybe Jacinda had sent her to watch after him. He had been getting the feeling he was being watched even before the store. “I’ve never ran into you down there before.”
“Well I’m here from eight to five every day, so it’s pretty rare to catch me anywhere else.” Stacy said with a laugh that hid a bit of misery.
“Mr. Phillips.” Jacinda said as her last patient walked out.
“That’s my cue.” Henson said, nodding a farewell to Stacy before he walked off into Jacinda’s office with a smile on his face, as forced as it was.
“Well, you look like you’re in a better mood.” Jacinda said in a chipper tone.
“Uh, yeah.” Henson said, wondering if he should even tell Jacinda that he was faking being in a better mood. He knew he was trying to trick himself into just becoming that way but still hoped that it would work.
“So, I wanted to ask you about some stuff because it’s blacked out in your files.” Jacinda said. With the mention of his files, flashbacks of stacking bodies flooded Henson’s head but it only made him blink slowly and sigh a little. “What unit were you with when you were in the military?”
“It’s classified.” Henson responded instinctively before he lit up a cigarette just knowing that Jacinda was going to pry on it.
“Henson, c’mon, it’s me. I kind of need to know that information to help understand you and what you’re going through.” Jacinda replied, tilting her head to the side. Henson noticed that she was wearing a near turtle-neck shirt and showed absolutely no cleavage. “I wasn’t even Phillips to get the information from Dr. Jones and it’s kinda pissing me off.”
“Irritating isn’t it? Having that one thing you want but just can’t have it with just a single person standing between you and it?” Henson replied, realizing their positions were nearly identical. He grinned playfully at her, knowing that it was bugging her just as bad as wanting a normal life was bugging him and just took a drag off of his cigarette, enjoying every moment.
“I’m not the one the lack of information hurts Henson.” Jacinda said in a little more of a stern voice than before. Henson sighed, rubbed his face anxiously and took a drag off of his cigarette.
“I was part of a covert operation unit. That’s why everything is blacked out. I mean, that much is obvious right?” Henson said sarcastically, trying to make himself laugh even though he was frustrated and was getting more irritated the more flashbacks of his covert ops days flooded his head; he began twitching and tensed up before he put his cigarette out but then relit it. “Remember when I told you about me stacking bodies? Well that was when I was in that unit. The same goes for when I took down that village myself… ugh… Sarge said he wanted to see what I was capable of… I… I… I did too, but at the time I was in a mindset that these people were our enemies. Hell, most of them had openly attacked fellow soldiers of ours during the day.”
“What do you mean during the day?” Jacinda asked, twirling a pencil in her fingers as Henson smoked hit his cigarette.
“We always attacked at night. We used it for cover and for deniability. We could simply say some animals attacked them. They never had any evidence that we were there, maybe fur, but it wasn’t anything human that they could use to track us.” Henson replied, shaking his head back and forth as memories flashed through his head of the dead bodies he had killed then made the mistake of making eye contact with; he felt like that haunted him worse than killing them did.
“You’re not there anymore, you don’t have to live like that and, in fact, you can’t keep living like that. Especially being a shifter.” Jacinda said quietly. “You could turn yourself feral.”
“I was close to it.” Henson explained, shaking his head to the side as he felt horrible for his past actions. “I just want to have a normal life, a life without the pain, without the flashbacks… without… ugh… you’re lucky you didn’t get the shifter gene.”
“We’re actually out of time already.” Jacinda said, looking at her clock, “Wow, time flies…”
“I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” Henson said, putting his cigarette out casually.
“What are you doing later?” Jacinda asked. Henson couldn’t help but think of when her lips were wrapped around him and visualize taking her to bed but did his best not to let his urges control him and played it cool.
“I’m probably not going to the bar, that’s for sure.” Henson said with a chuckle as he walked over towards the door. “Why, what time do you get out of work?”
“Eight o’clock. I was thinking we could catch a late dinner.” Jacinda said with a smile.
“I’d like that.” Henson replied, smiling without even trying. For once, he felt happy.
Henson walked out with a grin on his face, unable to scowl if he wanted to; he had a date. As he walked out Stacy looked at him with a weird look on her face as if she was confused by his grin but he didn’t care and she just went back to her paperwork. Henson walked outside and headed for the store, smacking his lips together in thirst. Along the way he thought he saw Darren but knew he couldn’t have gotten out of jail already. He walked as casually as he could on his way to the store, enjoying everything from the sunlight to the mid-summer breeze.
He could do without the various smells in the town, but some of them were pleasant, like smelling what someone was cooking for dinner or laundry being done. He walked into the store and headed for the cooler he usually picked his drinks from but they were out. He shrugged his shoulders, it was no big deal and he even was glad to experience something so small as that, something that would happen in a normal life. He smiled and grabbed some milk instead figuring it was better for him especially since he didn't have a hangover anymore.
Time seemed to go by pretty slowly with Henson looking forward to his date with Jacinda. He continually told himself that it wasn’t a date to try to calm his nerves but he couldn’t lie to himself; what else could it be? He went home and took a shower and got ready for his date but still had an hour to go before she even got out of work. He chuckled, feeling like things were falling into place and real
ized that he wasn’t having as many flashbacks as normal. He smiled, wondering if Jacinda was the key to his normal life in more ways than one.
Chapter Nine
Henson couldn’t help but head towards Jacinda’s office from his urge to be punctual. He was afraid that he would come off as overzealous but also felt like Jacinda would understand him. As he got close to the office he couldn’t help but feel like he was being watched again and looked around. He didn’t see anything out of the ordinary and just continued along the way. When he showed up at Jacinda’s office she was just closing up for the night.
“Oh, so that’s why you had that huge smile on your face earlier.” Stacy said with a smile before she looked over at Jacinda quickly. “You two have fun.”
Henson chuckled inside, remembering how Jacinda calmed him down in the cabin. He actually felt his lower abs tighten and sighed but at the same time he kept a smile on his face. It wasn’t from thinking about the cabin but more just thinking about having a date with Jacinda. Sex was nice but he needed a companion more than just a sex object. He wanted someone to cuddle with at night, to hold when he needed to be held, and to care for. he wondered if Jacinda felt the same way.
“I knew you’d show up at eight o’clock on the dot.” Jacinda said with a smile as they headed down the road. “I even planned for us to be heading out for the diner already so I’m glad you kept to your normal punctual ways.”
Damn, I knew she’d understood me, Henson thought as they walked down the street before he spoke out loud, “Yeah, I honestly wasn’t sure if I should or not. I was kinda worried I’d come off as overzealous.”
“Thanks for being honest, but don’t worry about that. I know how punctual you are, that’s actually why I knew something had happened to you the other day.” Jacinda said, grabbing Henson’s hand as they walked down the road.
They walked in silence holding hands and just enjoyed the time together. It was strange to Henson, feeling cared about. It was such an alien feeling to him after feeling like just a tool to the military for so long. He feared that she would just drop him like nothing and he would feel stupid for believing he meant anything to her. Still he did wonder why he meant anything to her at all. She had to see plenty of patients a day, probably guys more good looking than he was but he didn’t focus on that and just enjoyed holding her hand. Her skin was softer than he remembered but he hadn’t really gotten that long to touch her skin at the cabin and his nerves were on edge leaving his senses of touch heightened; it would have been better then. He didn’t care and as they got to the diner Henson took his opportunity to open the door for Jacinda.
“Oh? Nice to see that chivalry isn’t dead.” Jacinda said with a smile.
“Chivalry isn’t dead, just most people don’t know there’s a word for just being nice.” Henson said. “Most people nowadays are where I was before I met you; stuck in a pit of anger and too scared to open back up.”
“Aww.” Jacinda said as a waiter led them to their table. “You mean that?”
“Yeah, definitely. If I hadn’t met you I would be in a very dark place right now. It’s called a prison cell.” Henson said with a chuckle but he knew how serious he was and how close to losing his marbles he had been before his first session with Jacinda, “You got me to realize that I did have a problem, if it was just my anger. That’s actually what made me stay calm at the bar the other night when Darren and his buddy jumped me.”
“I’ll be right back. I went and grabbed a dress from home during a break earlier. I’m gonna go change in the bathroom.” Jacinda said, carrying her purse off with her quickly.
Henson wondered what she would look like when she came out if she looked that beautiful normally but at the same time wondered how long it was going to take. He chuckled, jokingly thinking to himself that he may as well order something. It was only a few minutes later and Jacinda came back in a stunning red and black dress. It fit snug to her frame and left very little to the imagination. Henson was glad that he was already sitting as he felt his member grow slightly, enough to have been visible if he were standing.
“Um… wow, you look… amazing.” Henson said wide-eyed, looking Jacinda up and down. He couldn’t help but stare a bit longer at her chest and hips, looking down the V of her cleavage before he looked back up at her face. “I’m speechless.”
“Aww, you’re funny.” She replied instinctively.
“Ha, the counselor can’t take a compliment, eh? Is that some low self-esteem, I sense?” Henson said in a joking tone, not really expecting to hit anything but he watched the happiness in Jacinda’s face drain right out before she nodded.
“What?! Are you kidding me?! How can you have low self-esteem? You’re beautiful!”
“Thank you.” Jacinda said, smiling again. Her eyes brightened with a little something that Henson couldn’t place so he just smiled back, not wanting to ruin the moment.
Henson and Jacinda ate their dinner, chit chatting about random stuff as they got more and more relaxed and comfortable with each other. Henson couldn’t believe that he could ever be that open with someone. He had always been afraid of showing his emotions out of fear of being crushed and apparently so had she.
“It’s not easy being a ‘hot chick’ as you call me, thank you.” Jacinda said with a laugh before she took a drink of wine after they finished their dinner. “We just get used for sex but nobody ever looks for anything beyond that.”
“I guess neither side of the spectrum is fun. Being an ugly guy you just get ignored, but if you’re a hot chick you’re just a piece of meat? What the Hell is wrong with the world?” Henson asked, shaking his head to the sides. “I guess that goes to show that looks must not really matter at all. It comes down to a person’s personality, not whether or not they’re attractive.”
“Yeah, I’ve met plenty of asshole hot guys.” Jacinda said, rolling her eyes.
“I can’t say as though I’ve really even met many chicks. The only females that I do know besides you and Stacy are my mother and fellow soldiers, and female soldiers have a worse macho façade problem than most guys. They’ve just always gotta prove that they can do things just as good. Last I checked the world has accepted that your sex is equal if not superior, so what’s with constantly bringing it back up by saying woman can do things just as good as men; we know.”
“Haha!” Jacinda laughed, “Ya know, I’ve never really thought about it like that.”
“The world hasn’t apparently.” Henson said with a laugh, feeling Jacinda’s foot slide up the side of his leg; he looked across the table at her and she was staring at him with a seductive look in her eyes, “You done with dinner?”
“Yeah, I’m about ready for dessert.” Jacinda said in just as seductive of a tone of voice. Henson’s eyebrows instinctively rose, shocked by what he had heard. “I love shy guys. Haha!”
They left the restaurant and Jacinda led Henson to her house by the hand. As they walked Henson looked over and noticed he could see down Jacinda’s shirt and looked away for some reason. As he looked down the road he wondered to himself why he had looked away. He'd been with more women than he could count and never shied away from appreciating the female form, but something about her just sent chills through him. His bear would go quiet and he would feel just as strong as if he had shifted.
Jacinda let go of his hand to grab something out of her purse and Henson couldn’t help but grab her ass. She swung her hand down and Henson quickly yanked his hand away with a laugh.
“I’m sorry, I had to. Haha!” Henson laughed as they got to Jacinda’s house.
Jacinda grinned and led Henson to the door. When she stopped at the door to unlock it she pushed her ass back into Henson’s cock. He knew what that was signaling for so he grabbed her sides and pulled himself closer. He started kissing her neck as she unlocked the door. She reached back and grabbed his manhood, leading him into the house by it rather than his hands. Henson shut the door and started kissing Jacinda deeper as she rubbed hi
s dick, getting it harder and harder. Henson buried himself into Jacinda’s busty chest and started squeezing each of the tender globes, feeling her hard nipples through both her shirt and her bra. Jacinda took her shirt off in one swift motion as Henson worked on getting his belt undone. As they explored each others bodies they made their way towards the bedroom. Jacinda turned around at the bed and went to get up on it but Henson grabbed her by the hips and pulled her back into his hard cock.
“Oh no, I want to ride you doggy style at least for foreplay.” Henson said, running his cock along the outside of Jacinda’s dress pants. They barely blocked any feeling and Henson could just barely feel her pussy lips with his cock.
