One's True Love

“Take a seat.” Trenton offered opening his office door for the two men. He walked over and sat in my signature spot, the large comfy leather swivel chair facing the doorway from behind his desk
“Are you ready to go over schedules so we can get to dinner and so the pack can go for a run before bed?” Trenton asked. His wolf was eager to stretch out but Trenton had told most of his betas and family he would be staying home until Kailee was able to shift.
“Of course. I have already been working on it while I was waiting. I think that Mia should train with a more experienced skill training group; a one hour session at 4pm and the three boys should be put into teams with combat training wolves in the 5pm session.” Preston suggested.
“Yes I think that is a good idea as well the three boys definitely need a ton of training. Who you would suggest as their partners” Trenton asked.
“Jake, Wren, and Ares.” Garret smiled triumphantly.
“Oh, you’re evil.” Trenton smiled at the older man. Preston was known to be a strict trainer just what the pack needed and Garret wasn’t much more lenient either. But pairing those boys with Jake, Wren and Ares, the men, strong betas, would make those young boys work. “Jake’s two busy. I think you should take Rowan instead of Jake. Rowan’s student is nearly finished with training anyway.” Trenton said with a nod.
“Yes alpha,” Preston and Garret said in unison. “I know Alpha you think we’re being hard but I feel they need some strict partners and who better than a beta?” Preston shrugged.
“Yes I see your point.”
They quickly worked on the specific pieces of training needed for each new wolf and then headed out to the dining room. It was already bustling with the wolves that lived here. The ones who have designated themselves as cooks had already prepared a large meal and had it set out on the table.
Trenton noticed Kailee and walked over to her with his shoulders back and his head high “You look even yummier with your hands plastered with cookie dough.” Trenton said his voice husky and laced with lust. He slid his arms around Kailee and pulled her hand up to his lips and gingerly licked the cookie dough from her fingers.
Kailee moaned, leaning back into Trenton with a sigh. He chuckled and released her finger from his lips.
“Come” he said pulling Kailee toward the bathroom off the kitchen. He pushed her hands under the fall of water in the sink and helped her was them clean. As they made their way back to the dining room table Trenton slid into his place and waited for Kailee to slid in beside him before he made his announcement. “Everyone may I have your attention.” He announced. Every head snapped in my direction. “I would like to have the pack run tonight for those in the pack who are returning to school I feel it is necessary to stretch out before our long day tomorrow and for those of you who are not attending school you are welcome as well. A game of wolf tag I think is going to be played along with the long hard run. It will be at seven. I will not be attending and anyone over the age of eighteen that wishes to stay may. Those under must deal with their parents. Thank you now you may resume your meal.” He finished and sat back down in his chair.
The commotion immediately began to get louder again. Together everyone finished their meal and stood to bring their dishes into the kitchen. “Trent, Hey man!” Ares called out as he slapped him on the back. “Ready to run?” He smiled. Trenton knew his plan. They would ganged up on the younger wolves and make them loose. It was so fun.
“I’ll be staying with Kailee” Trenton shrugged. Kailee wondered if she held Trenton back on doing many other things as well and sighed. Trenton smiled gently and wrapped an arm around Kailee as she stiffened under his touch.
“Yeah…” Ares frowned. “Maybe next time.” Ares shrugged.
“Sure man. Why don’t you head out and wait for the rest of the pack.” Ares turned and ran Trenton just shook his head.
He caught him mid stride two steps from the porch and went rolling into the yard. He swiftly shifted into his blue grey wolf jumping up on his feet and snapping at Trenton. But before he locked on Trenton shifted as well, growling at him. His thick black fur and long muscular legs held him nearly a foot above Ares but Ares wasn’t scared. He lunged at Trenton and grabbed a hold of Trent’s fur swishing his head around.
Kailee looked on in horror. Trenton had left her side so quickly she needed to see what he was going to do. When she had followed the two guys out the door she couldn’t believe her eyes. She watched as Trenton’s body burst apart and erupted into the beautiful black pelted wolf which she was so keen on. His secret was broken and she now knew he was the one which she had been in the woods with before.
Trenton roared and swung his head clocking Ares in the stomach hard. Ares yelped and took off across the yard. Trenton tackled him just before he reached a small blond girl that was coming out of the house. She was Ares’s mate, Bailey, a petite seventeen year old girl with long wavy blond hair and pale grey eyes. Her eyes snapped up at Trenton as he crashed Ares to the ground.
“Trent?” She squeaked. He cocked his head and looked up at her before snarling again at Ares. “Ares?”
Ares whined knowing he was about to get a mouth full from his small mate. Trenton nodded and back off of Ares. Ares jumped up quickly. He rubbed his pelt against his mate she giggled then patted the wolf’s head before bending up to grab his muzzle and planting a big kiss on his nose.
Trenton knew he was speaking to her about the run. Probably begging her to come and play. She giggled once again and took off at a quick pace toward the trees. “She’s in!” Trenton heard in his head and chuckled yet it came out a strangled bark.
“Dude you’re so whipped.” Trenton reminded him.
“You’ll see man, you will be too when you get your mate.” He pronounced through the link.
Wolves could speak through a mind link with each other. It’s a good way to keep everyone on the same page when we are in wolf form. Trenton shook his head and looked down at the ground. He haven’t yet told his friend about Kailee but he wasn’t about to let the “betrothal” thing get him wrapped up like Ares. The thing was that Trenton had his mate. He just couldn’t have her yet. Also since she hadn’t shifted the connection between the two was not at its best. Trenton whimpered then ducked his head and walked back toward the house.
Trenton watched as Ares barked and raced toward the trees where Bailey had headed. He knew exactly what Ares was hoping for but he doubt Ares would get it. Bailey didn’t seem like the type to go mating in the woods in wolf form before everyone in the pack came out to run. The pack would smell it on them for hours and she seemed way to shy for that type of fun.
Trenton howled getting longing to run and within moments nearly twenty teens filed out of the house stripping their clothing and shifting into various colored wolves. Most were a grey type color but a few were more…colorful, you could say. The grey ones were usually the lower pack wolves just because of the lineage but hey… you could never tell a hundred percent by the wolf’s color.
Trenton trotted back up to the house. Kailee stood frozen staring at the black wolf. He was amused and hadn’t meant to show off his ‘skills’ just have fun with a friend. Kailee backed up as Trenton approached petrified.
Purring Trenton continued to advance until Kailee was pinned against the wall of the house and the wolf. This contented Trenton’s wolf and he nuzzled his big oaf of a head against her stomach then licked at Kailee’s cheek.
“Hey!” She squealed then rubbed frantically trying to remove the tingling sensation from her skin.
The black wolf barked. Kailee staggered back bumping into something hard. “Hey!” A voice grumbled.
“Sorry” Kailee whimpered stepping away as she turned. The voice was thick with authority and it made Kailee cringe slightly into the wolf.
“Sorry darling.” Nicholas sighed. While Kailee’s attention was elsewhere Trenton took the moment to shift. Nicholas tossed him a pair of shorts and he quickly pulled them on.
Trenton stepped forward and chuckled as Kailee screeched when his arms wrapped around her. “Come on sweet cheeks, let’s go inside.” Together they walked inside. Trenton couldn’t help but notice the strange look that graced Kailee’s lips but he could feel her tension. Every muscle was peeked to its’ tightness. She had barely spoken to him as he walked with her into the house. She just had simply stared ahead.
“So…” He smirked. “Can I …” Trenton’s voice was low and seductive as he traced circles onto Kailee’s back then tantalizingly lowered them down her body to the hem of her shirt.
“NO!” She screamed.
Trenton sighed and shook his head. He trudged up to the bedroom behind Kailee and made sure she had made it there.
“I’m going not quite tired right now.” He muttered. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
Kailee nodded her head once and then continued into the closet for something to wear.
Kailee tugged on a tank top and yoga pants to sleep in and then pulled a light sweatshirt over top. She looked over at the elongated wall of curtains and glass then Kailee raised an eyebrow and stepped from the closet. “I wonder.” She murmured to herself.
Without another thought Kailee quickly scurried toward the doorway. She turned the lock then pushed the door open quickly. The door moved easily and she startled herself as she stumbled out into the open night’s air.
Hugging herself tightly she smirked wildly to herself. The night was calling to her and timing was perfect. Quickly Kailee turned around and rushed inside. She pulled on a pair of clean socks and then her shoes. Finding a nearby backpack she shoved another two outfits inside.
After she was finished Kailee hurried as quickly and quietly outside as she could. The air had become brisk and the stars had begun to rise. Moving as close as possible to the edge of the railing she peered down. It wouldn’t be easy but it was definitely possible she thought looking at the thick wooden trellis which ran up the side of the house.
Vines had begun to whine their way up the light colored pine of the homemade structure. It looked stable. Kailee looked down to the ground beneath then tossed the backpack. It landed with a quite thud, nothing would be broken since the bag only held clothing. Then she took a deep breath and hoisted herself over the edge.
Gripping tightly she took one step after another until she made it to the ground. Hesitantly she stepped foot onto the soft squishy grass and smiled.
Kailee looked around then ran toward her fallen back pack; reaching down to it while she ran. Her feet moved quicker than she had realized they could as she raced for the safety of the trees.
She stopped just inside the tree line to look back at the beautiful structure. It was a shame she had to leave; the house would really be a nice place to live if she hadn’t recently found out she was a gift.
Shrugging Kailee pushed the bag up onto her shoulder a little higher before she took off.
Chapter
Nine
When Trenton heard the most blood curdling scream he knew it was Kailee. He looked up from his drink then sighed setting it down on the table which he was playing cards with his closest friends.
“I’ll be back.” He sighed.
Trenton moved quickly and made it to his room and shoved the door open with a huff. Kailee’s scent was stale and he growled angrily. How did she get out without him noticing?
Kailee’s piercing cries rang through the trees once more. Trenton strangely enough felt a smile creep onto his lips then he frowned knowing how much pain she would be in. Trenton knew exactly what was happening and why she felt the urge to run, every night. He had over looked it and felt as if she was running from him yet she was just so close to her shift. Trenton stripped his clothing before he shifted into his beautiful midnight black wolf.
She gasped and that’s when she felt it. The most excruciating pain imaginable was stabbing at her delicate body as she shook from the pain and anger inside her.
Kailee’s painful scream could be heard throughout the forest as she crumpled to the ground no longer being able to bare her own weight. Her bones crushed and stretched, twisting and turning into different directions. In her mouth she could feel her teeth sharpen into points leaving her with massive fangs. What the hell is happening to me? She thought as a whimper escaped her lips.
Trenton raced toward the sound of Kailee’s cries. He knew it was going to happen and he wanted to be there to help her. No not wanted he needed to. She needed him whether she would admit it or not. His black paws dug into the soft soil and pushed faster. He could smell her intoxicating sweet scent and followed it.
The wolf skidded to a halt near a tree as he came upon his beautiful angel battered and crying on the dirt. She was curled into a ball and shaking from the pain. He quickly dropped the clothing in his mouth, shifted, and pulled on his pair of shorts then rushed toward her.
Kailee’s eyes fluttered up to meet Trenton, full of hurt, how could he do this too her. He could feel the anger lying deep within; right now though the anger would have to wait. Even though Kailee was angry all she wanted right this instant was the handsome figure in front of her. Her eyes fluttered back to Trenton as he crouched in front of her, this time full of lust and primal need. Her wolf was taking over.
“Shhh… baby I’m here. It’s okay.” Trenton cooed as he propped himself up against the tree.
“It… hurts.” Kailee croaked out another whimpering sob before she screamed out in agony again.
“Shh… it will sub-side angel. Just let me hold you and sooth your pain.” Trenton pleaded his voice smooth and calm as he inched closer to her. Tears were streaming down Kailee’s delicate face and pooling on her clothing. Trenton’s arms snaked around her frail body. His arms gently pulled her onto his lap. She rested her head on his shoulder and cried more.
“Your body is shifting into a wolf. It won’t be long. Just try and be relaxed, let it come.” Trenton’s whispered as he gently ran his fingers though her hair bending forward he kissed her cheek.
Only moments later Kailee’s body jumped from Trenton and when she landed she was no longer a tiny frail girl but a small framed light red and white wolf. Trenton smiled at the sight of her. She was beautiful. He had never seen a red wolf. Her paws and legs were white up to her belly which was white as well. Her muzzle was a white fading back into her red fur and her chest had a white patch as well as her tail. It was practically her whole under body which was white.
Trenton held out a hand to the now skittish wolf who was growling lowly at him. He didn’t want to scare her by just running up to her in his wolf form so he sat patiently as she sniffed at his fingers. She edged closer then she licked his hand slightly. Within moments she rushed him rubbing her head into his chest as hard as she could. This guy sitting in front of her was familiar, in this strange forest he was home. Trenton laughed and pushed gently at the red wolf’s head.
“Okay, okay, easy or you’re going to smother me.” He laughed. “Do you remember me?”
Kailee’s head whipped to the side and her ears perked. This guy’s voice was familiar too. His scent, his voice, and his look was so…. familiar.
“I am going to shift now. I will be right back okay.” He told Kailee as he stepped back carefully.
She growled lowly at him as he retreated but trailed after him. She watched as he stripped down to his shorts and shifted into a wolf. Kailee jumped back in surprise as a massive black wolf now stood in front of her.
He was nearly twice her size but he crouched down toward her pleading for her to come to him. The red wolf sniffed the air then sniffed again toward the black wolf. The red wolf whimpered at the sight of him. She didn’t know what to do.
It was silly for an alpha to be crawling over to a wolf like this bowing down to her but he knew she was scared and didn’t dare move. When he made it to the red wolf, he was now at her level in height. He nudged her face gently. She was still frozen. He carefully nuzzled her muzzle then his big dog tongue licked her wo
lf lips.
This jerked a reaction from her. Kailee’s snout whipped around and snarled at Trenton. Her chest rumbled as she snapped at him. Trenton jumped up to his feet as his chest reverberated a loud and menacing growl.
She snapped at me, how dare you snap at me; he thought. The black wolf pushed at her thoughts trying his best to get her to hear him. They had begun the mating process when she first got there with that simple kiss but their mind link was still weak.
She didn’t respond to his call, she continued to snap. Her jowls were curled up over her fangs as she growled. Trenton edged closer to her his teeth bared as well. I am alpha. He urged as he barked at her.
Kailee eyed Trenton then she noticed another wolf nearly as big standing to close for comfort to her. She eyed them suspiciously as more and more wolves presented themselves from behind the black wolf. Some were smaller around her size and some where just as big as the black wolf. She crouched backward trying to get away then she did it. She whipped around like lightning and bolted.
Turn around. Stop. Wait. He is ours. He will chase. Wait! Kailee kept hearing in her head but she didn’t understand why this wolf was bigger than her and he was surrounded by more what if they wanted to kill her? Her feet hit the dirt floor leaving slight impressions in the soft soil as she ran.
She wants to play. Must catch mate. Must mate her. Trenton’s wolf suggested as Trenton fought for his control.
She is scared. She runs because she is scared we need to catch her and bring her home. Trenton demanded his wolf whimpered at him angrily. He wanted her. She was going to be his soon. She was now a full wolf and needed to be his alpha female.
She could hear the pounding of paws behind her which did nothing but urge her faster. Kailee whined when one wolf nipped at her hind legs. She turned and snapped at the offender, growling when she noticed the big black wolf chasing her.
Trenton figured she would be fast. But he had no idea she was this fast, together they had left the most of the pack in the dust nearly a mile ago. He still could hear them howling and chasing after them but they were slowly loosing the distance.
