One's True Love

  Catching her scent the wolves in the class stared at her strangely before looking away when growls from the men with her erupted. The human’s through took no reaction to the men and soon one guy in particular began to stare intently at Kailee.

  A tall blond guy with blue eyes walked up to Kailee. He was good looking, she concluded. He wasn’t near as good looking as most wolves though especially the one that was hers, Trenton. “Hey new girl, my name is Luke.” Kailee glanced up at him for a moment then returned to her book she was assigned to read.

  “Go away, Luke” Zach snapped from behind him. Luke just chuckled and returned to Kailee.

  “So …. What’s your name Princess? And what’s with all the goons.” He pointed back at the guys surrounding Kailee.

  “My name is none of your business. I am seeing someone. And if you don’t leave now I am sure these guys would gladly knock the stupid out of you.” Kailee hissed back.

  He laughed again. “These guys don’t scare me. They may be big and “brawny” he quoted in the air as he spoke. “But they lack brains and true muscle where it counts.” He laughed looking down and thrusting his hips toward her.

  Man this guy’s got a death wish, Kailee thought to herself. “Now look here loser….” Kailee spat. “My friends and I would like you to leave. If not… I will gladly cut you down to size myself. You with that super huge ego and stupidity level through the roof….” Many humans in the class gasped as all the wolves in the class were staring intently at their alpha’s reaction. They would not allow this prick to live to see the next day if he raised a hand to her.

  “If it comes to it I will beat the crap out him!” Kailee shouted in her head.

  “Should we take care of him alpha?” Zach asked. Kailee knew the boys were listening in and she decided that she would show them she wasn’t as weak as they would assume. She is capable of taking care of herself.

  “No.” She sang back in her head to them.

  Luke’s eyes widened and his smile turned into a smirking stupidity riddled grin. “Well sweetheart” he said laying his hand on Kailee’s there was low rumble of growls coming from all around the class as every werewolf was warning him to back off. “I think I would like to see you kick my ass. I would like a sassy spitfire like you in my bed.”

  That was his last words to her. Kailee didn’t want his irritating attention any longer as she stood the bell rang but nearly the whole class didn’t dare move. As the bright red haired girl stood up pulled back her fist colliding it into Luke’s jaw with a crack and sent Luke flying backward overtop of a desk. As soon as his body crumpled onto the floor he groaned before grunting his way to a sitting position.

  “Ms. Mars!” The teacher roared but instantly jumped to his feet and scurried out of the room as the large guys, Zach, Mason, and Preston glared at him and growled in unison.

  “Your…. your… a Mars.” Luke stuttered.

  “My fiancé is Trenton Mars and this is my soon to be brother-in-law Mason. Have you met?” Kailee looked at him like he was the stupidest idiot around.

  “I….I ….I’m sorry.” Luke stumbled as he hurried away and the classroom burst into laughter.

  “Wow! Alpha. That was amazing” Squeaked a shy mousy little girl soft brown hair which formed waves down her back as she walked toward Kailee. She was short and frail looking especially when she curled her body into Preston’s big form. “My name is Juliana” She whispered shyly looking up at Kailee with big green eyes.

  “My mate.” Preston clarified.

  After that many more of the students who stayed behind introduced themselves to Kailee. All stayed back just far enough to give their alpha space. They knew the rules. They knew that Trenton would be furious if anyone laid a hand on her without permission, even if it was just shaking her hand. Kailee greeted them all warmly.

  Most of the day went by pretty uneventfully. It was now lunch and Kailee was famished. She hungrily munched down on pizza and breadsticks that the boys had on the table. Mason had got it a few minutes before lunch from the pizza shop across the street.

  Kailee was glad to see Lilly and even Jake for that matter. They were getting to be good friends. Lilly’s warm kind bubbly manor rubbed off on everyone. When lunch was over all of the guys said their goodbyes as they reached the class leaving Kailee.

  Psychology went along boringly but Kailee survived. When gym finally arrived signaling the last class before they were free… Kailee couldn’t contain herself.

  On the boarded on the far side of the gym Kailee grimaced when she saw the assignment. “Boy girl teams” it said on one side of the board on the other big words.

  GREAT!

  “Good morning class!” Chirped a bouncy teacher. She sauntered into the open gymnasium proudly and straight up to the board. “Today we are starting our boy girl team project. If you all will pick a partner. One boy and one girl.” The teacher squawked “hurry up now.”

  Kailee looked at the only male she knew at all in the class. Zach. He looked back and gulped nervously at her.

  “Shit!” He screamed in his head.

  “Zach, what’s wrong man?” Called the rest of the guys almost instantly.

  “Alpha’s going to kill me!” He replied.

  “What did you do?” Jake growled back. He knew Zach and he knew that he was a good guy. Zach would never do anything to harm Kailee but he still was worried enough to growl.

  “Gym class. Boy girl self defense teams.” Zach could hear their laughter in his head and shook, he knew Trenton would be furious with him if he so much as looked at the alpha’s mate wrong… let alone had to touch her. The laughter left his thoughts as his pack mates blocked Zach grumbles out.

  When he snapped out of his conversation he noticed Kailee starring at him confused and smiling nervously.

  He knew he would be her partner there was nobody left in the class but him to trust. Most of this class was humans and those who weren’t were low on the pack food chain. Kailee knew as well that Zach would be her partner but she didn’t understand his worried expression.

  “Yeah Kailee, I will be your partner” he grumbled.

  She smiled happily as she looked down at the paper the teacher handed out and paled.

  This assignment will be a self-defense exam. You both will work together help each other through the assignment. If you fail to write the paper you will fail. If you fail to get along with your partner you will fail.

  Kailee groaned and looked at Zach, he was white as a sheet starring at the paper in front of him.

  “What’s wrong Zach?” Kailee asked.

  “Trenton’s going to kill me.” He replied simply.

  “No he will not Zach, I won’t let him.” Kailee shook her head.

  They didn’t further talk about the paper. The class went on and the teacher began to announce the teams could get along with their assignments.

  Zach groaned and followed Kailee over to the first task. Sit ups. Not so bad… Zach winced. He held Kailee’s feet as she did her round and then switched with her.

  After a few turns… it was time for the sports listed on the paper. Self-defense. Zach helped Kailee off the floor and followed her slowly toward the bags.

  “First you will …” the assistant trainer announced as he began to explain how to hit the bags to the small group.

  Zach nodded as Kailee pressed herself into the bag securing it. “Right left… right kick!” The teacher shouted.

  That’s when it happened. Zach’s attention shifted and he turned his attention to the wrong spot. “Watch it!” Shouted the teacher as Zach’s right leg collided with Kailee’s shoulder.

  A loud pop burst through the room and Kailee screeched in pain. She clutched her arm tightly as it hung loosely. She flew back and fumbled onto the floor. “I’m so sorry!” Zach whimpered rushing forward and dropping to the floor beside Kailee. He began to examine the wound. A large gash from his shoe sliced down her bicep, but the biggest problem was her displaced arm.
r />   “Help me get her up. Can you take her to the office?” The trainer asked Zach.

  “Yes sir.” Zach sighed. He knew exactly what would happen. The secretary would call Trenton and he would kill Zach.

  When the bell rang they walked together down the hallway. Zach protectively shielded Kailee from everyone who walked to close.

  Lilly had quickly gathered up Kailee things and headed down to the office as well. She hurried out to the gymnasium and watched as people gathered in loose groups. Soon Lilly was surrounded by all of their close pack mates.

  Zach who was worried about going home and getting his head ripped off by the alpha. “Tell me what happened!” The secretary screeched as she rushed toward Kailee with a first aid kit.

  “Hey Kailee!” Trenton called he walked into the office. He had seen Zach and Kailee’s bright red hair walk inside and followed.

  His jaw clenched and he growled as his eyes fell upon Kailee’s tear struck face and blood pooling down her arm, “What happen?” he growled.

  “Mr. Mars… oh good thing you’re here.” The secretary sighed. “Ms. Kailee needs to get to the hospital.”

  Trenton looked over at the secretary with dark angry eyes “I’ll take care of her.” He snarled and gently lifted Kailee into his arms.

  She felt more comfort and pain free as she settled into Trenton. He kissed her head gently and turned away leaving Zach gulping and fidgeting nervously shifting from foot to foot in the office.

  “Trent.” Kailee whimpered.

  “What happened?” Trenton growled.

  Chapter

  Fifteen

  “Well….” Kailee thought as she looked at Trenton who was expectantly awaiting her response.

  “Get in” Trenton said un-amused. Kailee slid into the opened door and reached for the buckle as Trenton shut the door and returned to the driver’s side. As soon as his door was closed he turned to her his face was emotionless his lips pulled into a straight line. “Talk” he told her.

  Kailee told Trenton about her day not forgetting to mention the girl who stood angrily in front of her and had been thrown into the wall. Then she told him about how she had been hit on by a guy in her first class yet she had left out, intentionally, the part about punching him. And the part she was dreading the worst, the part with her new school guard, Zach. The part which she hoped Trenton would go easy on the poor nice guy, she had saved for last.

  With every bad event one right after another Trenton growled and rumbled until they were finally at the mansion. Trenton had left the car out in the driveway, he opened Kailee’s door and even the house door for her like he normally would but as soon as the door had closed he roared an ear piercing howl which had half of the guys in the pack house rushing from all directions to get to him.

  “Alpha, what’s wrong?” came from every direction.

  “Pack meeting in two hours; every male and female within fifty miles from here.” He snapped. Then grabbed Kailee’s hand and dragged her into the infirmary. The doctor was already waiting for them when they arrived.

  “Kailee” the doctor said slowly looking over at Trenton for consent first. Trenton nodded and the doctor rushed forward “What happened?” He asked worriedly.

  Kailee looked worriedly between the doctor and Trenton. She hadn’t told him what happened just yet and really didn’t want to. An accident, non intentional; was all she could think when she finally spoke. “We were in gym and …” Kailee looked down at the floor nervously, “It was an accident.” She said.

  “What happened.” Trenton growled frustrated.

  “It was unintentional.” She insisted.

  “Who did it Kai?” Trenton hissed.

  “He didn’t mean to.” She evaded.

  “I don’t care if it was intentional or not. I want to know who did it!” Trenton snapped. Kailee shuttered she knew he would never let her leave without telling him.

  Kailee only got out the first letter of the name and Trenton snarled knowing who had done it. “Fix her up!” He snapped at the doctor before rushing out of the room.

  The doctor sighed and helped Kailee up onto the bed to examine her arm. “It’s dislocated and I think you’ll need a few stitches.” Kailee nodded. The doctor frowned. “I need assistance for this. I’ll be back in a moment.”

  “Keep him in here.” The doctor demanded as he pointed to Trenton. “Jake … I need your help with Kailee’s arm.”

  “Do I really?” Jake sighed.

  “I don’t think we can let anyone else. We wouldn’t want her brother to do it… we would have a two alpha war; when she screams.” The doctor hissed out.

  “That’s my point…” Jake shook his head with a chuckle. “I don’t want Trenton to kill me.”

  “He is going to be staying in here, right guys?” The doctor practically growled at the other betas.

  Each one chuckled and nodded, it would be fun to be the boss for once. Jake grumbled something then followed after the doctor.

  When the doctor came back with Jake he frowned slightly as he approached Kailee. “I’m sorry darling but this is going to hurt.”

  Kailee winched as Jake positioned himself as he was told. The doctor counted and on three each did their part. Kailee screamed as the painfully excruciating procedure did its job.

  Trenton’s roar could be heard through the house as he tried to get to Kailee. With her arm back in the proper place, Kailee pushed past the unexpecting doctor and Jake then rushed toward the door. She did no more than pull the door open and she was looking up into Trenton’s blazing eyes.

  “I’m okay.” She said

  Trenton sighed and shoved off his betas which still held his arms. Four strong betas didn’t stand a chance. Trenton’s arms laced around Kailee and walked her back into the infirmary. “Don’t ever do that again.” He growled at the doctor. Jake smirked.

  Trenton pulled Kailee around to his side and held her with his left arm. Scowling Trenton’s fist balled and he punched Jake, knocking him back into the doctor.

  “Now.” Trenton huffed. “Fix that up.” Trenton huffed pointing at Kailee’s bloody arm.

  The doctor chuckled then sat Kailee down again on the examination table and began to sew up her arm.

  His pack was large. The pack members outside of the fifty miles would here the rumors and would know about Kailee. She would be officially introduced during the quarterly pack meeting but until then he would speak with those in the immediate area.

  They had sat together on the large couch Kailee curled into Trenton’s warm chest watching a television show until the meeting. Kailee knew well enough not to question what the meeting was about… she knew it was about her.

  With Kailee all wrapped up, her arm back in place and sewn up neatly they made their way to the meeting hall ten minutes past the two hour time. Just to show the pack who was boss. The voices and chatter stopped immediately as the doors opened revealing Trenton and Kailee.

  “Thank you all for coming on such short notice.” Trenton announced as he tugged Kailee along toward a podium at the end of the room. She had noticed at least a hundred wolves inside; they ranged in age and size. “This meeting is being held to announce officially the presence of my mate and your new alpha female, Kailee. It is also to announce to those who have their doubts; I will not tolerate disobedience and un-respectful behavior toward her. You know who you are those of you who have done wrong.”

  Trenton could tell there were a million questions about the new alpha female and he also could tell most were regarding the bandaged up arm. “I know what you’re all wondering…” Trenton paused and looked at Kailee “the bandage on her arm… an accident at school caused this and for safety and security reasons… Kailee will now be homeschooled for the rest of the year.”

  Kailee turned wide eyed and stared at Trenton. She was about to question when she received a very stern look from Trenton.

  Trenton allowed questions which were appropriate about Kailee, then discussed their wed
ding, and assured everyone that it was okay for them to attend. Trenton then addressed immediate concerns of a few people before he had announced the meeting over nearly an three hours after it had begun.

  Everyone began to file out so they could return to their families for the night with the exception of those whom lived in the pack house. They stood loosely around the house. Kailee cocked her head.

  “Chelsea has been spoken too.” Jake said to Trenton as they walked from the room. This Kailee did realize the poor girl had came up to her graveling and begging for forgiveness, which Kailee accepted and rewarded the girl with none other than a full tight hug. Chelsea had walked away from Kailee with a face full of tears; not realizing how much love her alpha female had. She had felt ashamed for treating her so badly but Kailee tried to reassure Chelsea it was okay for a first time and suggested she had never done it again. Trenton however had warned the girl that if it happened again she would be thrown in the cages for one week prior to being kicked out of the pack. Chelsea had promised her allegiance and even sworn to befriend Kailee if she would be granted it, someday.

  The remaining members of the pack had begun to depart to their rooms for the night, Trenton noticed the long Mohawk spiked blue hair figure trying to blend in the crowd and he called out to him. “Zachary!” He barked. Zach froze at the sound of Trenton’s angry alpha tone. “I need to speak with you.” He demanded.

  Zach cringed then slowly made his way over to his alpha. “I have been told that you are Kailee caused this.” Trenton said confidently shoving Kailee forward slightly to show off her bandaged arm.

  “Yes alpha.” Zach replied sadly.

  ” I am not happy.” He growled.

  “I am sorry alpha. I didn’t mean to it was a….” Zach mumbled out.

  “Kailee go into the kitchen with my mother.” Trent ordered.

  Kailee stepped forward, she felt it time that she stood up for Zach; he was right he didn’t mean to hurt her.
