Aiden's Betrayal

If Lucian or another rogue had showed up, she wouldn’t have known until it was too late. Aiden purposefully let the dog hear him so she wouldn’t be caught completely off guard.

The now healing wound on his head proved doing so to be a bad idea. He picked up his phone and called Nicolas. “Anything?”

“Julian’s called a meeting. There’s a lot you need to hear and some things we need to do. He also thinks you need to hurry and bring her back here. There’s more danger around us than we ever realized.” Nicolas’s voice grew further away as he spoke to someone else. “We need to give them more time. He can stay with her through the day and come back.”

Aiden could hear Julian's resonation and then his gruff ‘Okay, but he better be back at dark.’ Something had to be seriously wrong if Julian was worried.

“You hear that?” Nicolas spoke into the phone.

“Loud and clear. What’s going on?” Aiden glanced down at the growling dog as he waited for an answer.

“We’ll talk when you get back. A lot happened while you were knocked out.” Nicolas hung up the phone without a goodbye.

The dog left his side and ran to the window, still growling. Aiden followed and looked outside to see a hooded figure looking back at him. He sniffed the air just as the dog did and caught a familiar scent. The hooded figure was female and her scent was familiar. She smelled like Elle. Family? But wait, she smelled like a vampire.

Aiden looked back down at the dog before glancing back out the window. The figure was gone.

  Chapter Thirty-One

Elle woke up feeling great considering she expected to be hung over. The room still spun as she stood up. Behind her, a noise had her jumping and turning to find Aiden standing from her raggedy chair. His clothes looked wrinkled and slept in. She knew the chair wasn't comfortable to sit in longer than fifteen minutes as she dried her hair, much less to sleep in.

Good. He deserved to be uncomfortable. In her head she tried to be mad at him and happy that he’d been uncomfortable, but she couldn’t. Damn her soft heart.

“Good morning. Are you feeling better?” He moved closer to her.

She stepped back. “I feel great other than a little weak and the room seems to be spinning.”

He kept coming closer even as she kept moving back until her back hit the wall. His gaze lowered, caressing her body. “The hangover wouldn’t have lasted long but you need blood. I know you don’t want to drink from me—”

“What?” Shaking her head was all she could manage with him standing close enough for his body heat to seep into her. “I can’t drink from you. I don’t know how.”

She looked down and realized why his attention kept straying. Nothing covered her and she couldn’t believe how long she took to realize it. She maneuvered around him and ripped the sheet off the bed.

He smiled. “I’ll show you. I didn’t have time to go back to get blood. I assumed when you took off you brought some with you but I didn’t find any in your fridge.”

She dropped her head to hide her embarrassment. “I know.”

He lifted her chin with his hand. “I know this is new to you. I’m not mad at you, I just want to make sure you’re well.”

His thumb caressed her cheek in a slow motion and she wanted to melt into him. She nodded and stepped close enough for their bodies to touch. “I’ll try.”

He smiled, grabbed her hand, and tugged her back to the bed. “This will be more comfortable.”

He pulled her on top of him.

The quick move caught her off guard and had her straddling his waist. She could feel his arousal pressed between her legs. The sheet had somehow been discarded onto the floor and she closed her eyes as his hips moved against her. “I can’t do this.”

“You need to feed. Just wait, everything will be fine.” He tried to soothe her as his hands held hers.

“That’s not what I mean. I can’t do this.” She gestured between them with her hands. “Us. I can’t do us.”

When she tried to move, he stopped her.

“I’m sorry. I thought I was doing you a favor by leaving but in reality, I only hurt us both. I don’t want to be without you. I’m an idiot.” He pulled her head down to his and took possession of her lips “Please give me another chance. I promise I won’t disappoint you.”

She kissed him back and didn’t care about the consequences anymore. If he lied, she didn’t want to know. She just wanted him. She needed his words to be true. Moisture leaked between her legs and soaked his pants where they were connected. Arousal raged through her like an out of control forest fire.

Trying to keep their lips connected, Elle maneuvered her hands between them and attempted to unbutton his pants but pulling them down without breaking their kiss was impossible.

She gave in and started tugging his tight jeans down with his help. As she pulled them down his thick thighs, she bit her lip in anticipation of feeling him beneath her. Deep inside her.

  “You’re killing me, Elle.”

Seeing him out of control and trying to speak through his clenched teeth turned her on even more. She got caught up just staring at him and she squealed when he grabbed her waist and pulled her back up and poised her above his erection. The tip pressed inside and she kept still as she let him stretch her entrance.

He hissed out and tensed beneath her. “You’re still so damn tight. I feel like this is our first time all over again. I thought after having you I could control myself better but I was wrong. The need in me is building and I don’t think I can hold back.”

She gave him her best wicked grin, even as her heartbeat and breathing increased before she dropped fast and hard to take every bit of him. Momentary pain and loss of breath disappeared to be replaced with pure ecstasy.

More liquid leaked as she adjusted to his size and she loved the way he threw his head back and the low growl he let escape from deep within his chest. “You shouldn’t play with fire, love.”

His eyes flew open and suddenly the liquid silver looked black and full of need.

From the look he gave her, she prayed he spoke the truth. She knew he had been right when his hips thrust up into her and he wrapped his arms around. Before she could challenge him, she found herself pressed beneath his weight, suddenly empty.

“I’ve got other plans, but first you need to feed.” He finished his demand and leaned in to her neck to lick at her vein.

She shook her head. “Food can wait. I need you, please.”

Begging should've been out of the question but he drove her body nuts.

He clucked his tongue. “I promise you’ll enjoy every bit of your feeding and what I do to you.”

Doubt never crossed her mind at the pleasure he'd give her. She nodded and let him do whatever he wanted. “Hurry. I feel like my body is on a fall that never ends.”

Aiden moved down her body. He growled and pushed gently at her thighs for her to open them wide. The slight pressure from his large hands had excitement racing through her. His warm breath fueled the fire raging inside her just waiting to be released.

The feel of his thumbs spreading her open to his view had her body tensing. Before she could attempt to relax, his tongue touched her gently. He broke into motion and licked her small bud. She dug her nails into the sheets and mattress, even as a moan surged from her lips.

His pace increased against her and had her bucking until he was forced to let her folds go just to hold her steady. A groan left his lips and vibrated her over the edge and then right back to the top. He sucked her nub into his mouth even as one finger then two entered her.

She thrashed her head back and forth. “No! I won’t survive it.”

He released her from his mouth but kept his fingers pushing in and out. “I’m glad you think I’m that good.”

Without warning, his fangs shot out and he bit the inside of her thigh. The bite felt more intimate so close to her pussy as his fingers worked their own magic.

The climax built to full cap
acity then tore through her. Her body shook and her screams echoed in her own ears but nothing could stop the explosion. His mouth left her thigh then the flat of his tongue licked the two pinpricks. The bed dipped as he moved over her and waited.

“I won’t survive another one like that,” she admitted with little embarrassment.

“I think you’ll be just fine. Now you need to feed. Let your fangs out.” He kissed her and ran his tongue along her teeth.

Elle gave in to his inspection. Delaying him was fine with her since she didn’t know how to cause her teeth to release. She knew anger did it, but she didn’t want to be angry right now.

He turned his head so her mouth pressed against his neck. “Now smell me and lick. Your fangs will do the rest.”

Hesitating, she sniffed at first and smelled something sweet and spicy all in one. Her tongue seemed to control itself as she licked his neck. As he predicted, her fangs shot out and she pulled back.

He looked down at her and smiled. “Don’t. Just follow your new instincts. As a vampire, your instincts to survive have increased and needing blood is part of that.”

Glancing at his neck, she became mesmerized at the jump of his vein. She could even hear his blood rushing through him and his heart rate increasing as he ached for her to drink from him. She thought about how she felt when he took from her and how much she liked it.

She took a deep breath then struck. His skin broke with ease and blood poured into her mouth. The sweet and spicy scent graced her senses before it landed against her tongue and had her groaning in relief. It felt like she drank his desire straight from him.

His blood filled her with strength and the need for him to take her over the edge, again. As if following her thoughts, Aiden nudged her legs open and slammed deep inside. His thickness filled her to the hilt before he pulled back to repeat his movement.

Having enough of his blood, Elle licked the two pinpricks before throwing her head back. She clawed at his sweat covered back, digging her nails deep enough to break his skin.

All of a sudden, Aiden pulled out and flipped her onto her stomach. She cried out in frustration. He grabbed her hips then pulled her up until she found herself on her hands and knees.

She waited for him to enter her from behind but he didn't. “Please, Aiden.”

His callused covered hands caressed her ass and then he replaced his hands with his mouth.

Elle's eyes widened as he nibbled the crease between her thigh and butt. She screamed out when he bit her right cheek hard before he licked the pain away.

With a hand on each cheek, Aiden used his thumbs to spread her open to him. His thumbs grazed a place she'd never been touched and it felt surprisingly erotic.

  “Oh, wow.”

“Not this time.” Aiden moved his hands between her thighs and forced her to spread her legs further apart. “I'm not patient enough for that right now.”

She knew what he meant and didn't think she'd ever be ready for that. She shivered as he made his way with his mouth from her ass up her spine to her neck.

His erection pressed against her entrance, slipping in one slow inch at a time until he filled her completely.

When he started to move out slowly, she couldn't stand it anymore and slammed back until she forced him to lose control.

Finally, he gripped her hips and started thrusting harder and faster until she couldn't stop her second orgasm from tearing through her body.

With one final thrust, Aiden slammed deep. She could feel his hard length pulsing inside her then the warmth of his release filled her.

“Damn, you’re going to cause my death for sure,” Aiden said as his heavy breathing warmed her neck.

“Me?” She felt like she'd already died and went to heaven.

He pulled out and dragged her into his arms. “I've missed you.”

They were only apart for two days, yet she felt like they'd been apart forever. “I've missed you, too.”

Aiden leaned over and kissed her, his tongue invaded her welcoming mouth. She groaned against his lips as she savored his tender kiss.

Elle felt a familiar prickling sensation on her skin but still didn't know what it meant.

“The sun's going down.” Aiden sounded disappointed as he nibbled her lip.

Then it clicked. “I get this feeling against my skin when the sun goes down and comes up.”

Aiden nodded. “It's your vampire instincts kicking in.” After a long kiss, Aiden groaned. “We've been ordered to get back to Sanctuary once the sun goes down.”

Elle scooted off the bed and away from the temptation of tying him to the bed. She needed time to clear her head without Aiden's touch scrambling her mind. He'd left her before and she didn't know if she could trust him not to freak out and do the same thing again.

“Elle?” He stood naked and moved toward her.

“Wait.” She held her hand up for him to stop. Biting her lip, she eased her way closer to the bathroom. “I need to think. Alone.”

Aiden's shoulders dropped and his face tightened. “I understand.”

Elle felt relief as she turned to enter the bathroom.

He grabbed her arm in a gentle hold. “Before you 'think,' I need to tell you something.”

Not sure what he would say, Elle held her breath as she expected the worst.

“I know I've done wrong but you need to know that I love you and you're my mate. As my mate, I plan to spend eternity with you and no one else. Ever. I’ll settle for nothing less.” He let go of her arm and stepped back. “There'll never be another for me. I thought at one time Luciana was my mate but now I see how wrong I was. What I felt for her can't even compare to what I feel for you.

He loved her. She'd prayed he would feel the same for her as she felt for him and it appeared he did. Elle stood frozen and stared.

“I just wanted you to know how I felt before you changed your mind on us.” Aiden turned and started to dress.

“Before I changed my mind? I've been scared you'd leave again. I love you, Aiden. I've never fallen in love before you and I've never had my heartbroken before you.” Unwanted tears fell down her cheeks.

In a blink, Aiden stood in front of her wiping her tears away. “Thank God.”

Elle gasped as he picked her up and carried her back to the bed.

  “I need you.”

  “What about—?”

Aiden interrupted her question with a kiss and she forgot what she planned on asking.

  Chapter Thirty-Two

Aiden held Elle on his lap as he waited at the large kitchen table they never used. He ran his hand up her thigh, wishing she had a skirt on instead of jeans.

With a swat of her hand, he laughed. “I can't help it.”

She twisted to look him in the eyes and gave him a teasing smile. “I don't think that’s appropriate with your prince sitting a few chairs away.”

“I think you should listen to your mate, Aiden. I won't be the only one here in a few seconds,” Julian said.

As soon as Julian spoke, Drake, Ethan, Collin, Lena, and Jodi came through the door.

Aiden waited for Nicolas to come through. When he didn't, Aiden turned to Julian. “Where's Nicolas?”

“He's got a lead on Lucian.”

“Then why the hell am I here? Shouldn't we all be out helping him?” Aiden understood the need for a meeting, but if Nicolas found Lucian then Aiden wanted to be there, too.

Elle's hand flattened against his cheek. “They'll be okay.”

“She's right, plus Nicolas has been ordered to let us know once he finds Lucian. He's not to move on him until back-up gets there.” Julian stood and walked around the table as he started the meeting.

“As you all know, Elle, Anya, and Nicolas met a vampire claiming to be the rogue leader.”

“What?” Aiden hadn't heard anything about the vampire and he didn't like that his mate had met him.

  “You were unconscious,” Elle said.

  “You couldn't tell me a
bout this earlier? I wouldn't have let you stay at your home as long as I did.” Fear overwhelmed him.

“Can I get back to what I was saying?” Julian asked.

About that time, Anya came through the door. “Sorry I'm late.”

Julian shook his head and started pacing around the room. “I've never heard of so many rogues working together but if they have a strong leader, it could be possible. From the way Nicolas spoke, they listen to this leader and for some reason, he didn't touch any of us while we took out several of his army. He only touched Luciana.”

Aiden felt Elle tense in his arms before she covered her mouth with her hand. He knew she covered up her fangs. “It's okay, I love you. What I had with her was a lie,” he whispered as he nipped her ear.

Julian cleared his throat. “Elle, was there anything distinct about him we should know?”

Anya spoke up. “Blonde hair to die for.”

“He was as tall as you, Julian. He wore contacts,” Elle added.

  “Contacts?” Julian's eyes narrowed.

“They were steel blue. He said it was so the rogues believed he was their leader, or something. We didn't exactly have time to discuss it in detail given I figured he was about to kill me.”

“You spoke to him?” Aiden really wished he'd known before the meeting. He looked back up at Julian to find him holding his chin, his brows pulled together in deep thought. “What is it, Julian?”

Julian shook his head. “Nothing, at least I hope not.” Clearing his throat, Julian sat back down before speaking. “I met a vampire once who had blue eyes, my cousin. He was the only vampire I'd ever seen who didn't have our natural silver eyes.

“He didn't seem to have the greatest night vision like most vampires but he was killed a long time ago. Years later, my uncle, his father, disappeared after my parent's murder. At the time, we thought he was killed with my parents but we never found the body. That or he was the one who murdered them.”

“You think he could be the leader?” Aiden asked. He hated the pain in his prince's eyes.

“With the news we just found out, I believe their leader could be my uncle and I now truly believe he murdered my parents and my sister. He has to be wearing contacts in memory of my cousin.” Julian stood up and the others followed. “We have new orders. I want a hunt started for my uncle immediately. Any rogue along the way should be interrogated before being killed.”
