Blowhard (The Clockwork Republic Series)

I was a little uncertain about the wattle-and-daub "house made of sticks" in North America. However, I discovered that like Europeans, Native Americans used this building technique. There's a wattle-and-daub house in Etowah State Park in Georgia. It was constructed by native craftsmen and volunteers, and completed in 2008.

As for bricks, real ones would have been incredibly difficult to come by on the Kansas prairie, but bricks made of sod were extremely common. Like the straw bale church, some of these structures still stand today. So Jeremiah (and the oldest little pig from the fairy tale) probably had a decent point in their choice of building material.

I hope you've enjoyed Blowhard. Set in the 1870s, it is chronologically the first book in The Clockwork Republics, my series of steampunk retellings of classic fairy tales.
