She did, knowing she wore her heart in her eyes. There was nothing she wanted more than to love this man who made her feel alive again, but still her insecurities stood in the path of bliss.
‘No one sucks at sex. Not if you love someone with your heart and soul…like I love you. Teach me, Lily. Show me how to love you. There is no right or wrong way, only our way.’ He lifted her hands to his chest, anchored them between their bodies as he cupped her hips and drew her closer.
Her touch hesitant, Lily ran her hands across the width of his chest, up his shoulders and into the hair that skimmed his nape. She stood on tiptoes to draw his head down and press her lips to his, testing his response. With each encouraging whisper from Mark, Lily grew bolder with her touch until the passion between them demanded the barrier of clothing be gone.
Sweeping her into his arms, Mark carried Lily into the bedroom, her lips pressed to the curve of his shoulder. She protested as he broke the contact to lay her down across the covers.
With a tenderness she’d never experienced before, Mark removed her clothes, taking his time to caress every inch of exposed skin until Lily thought she’d die from the sensations that flooded through her. Every nerve end sparked at the light graze of his touch. Muscles once unaffected, contracted with each feather-light kiss he dropped on her skin. As the final barrier fell away, leaving her naked and exposed to his gaze, he murmured, ‘I love you, my beautiful Lily. No-one will ever make you feel unwanted or unloved again.’
Her body languid with desire, her mind floating in sensation, Lily reached for Mark’s shirt. He obliged by lifting his arms, allowing her to draw it over his head and toss it aside. The vision she’d had earlier of him naked hadn’t prepared her for the real thing. Her gaze wandered across the expanse of his chest as her fingers traced the scars of his trade. Each one told a story of what had made him the man he was — a strong, hard and merciless cop, yet a gentle, caring, dependable lover when needed…and oh boy, did Lily need him. She reached for his belt and removed the final hurdle that kept them apart, taking a moment to admire him in all his unclothed glory.
The mattress dipped under his weight and soon she felt the slide of his skin on hers, the touch of his lips caressing parts of her body never before explored with such devotion. With each touch, each kiss, her confidence grew until the room was filled with breathless sighs, then silence except for the rhythm of love and murmured adoration.
Later, as Lily lay sprawled across Mark’s warm body, well and truly satisfied, she knew there was no need for words to tell him how much she loved him. She’d shown him with every inch of her soul — and now, with his strong arms securely around her, the slowing rise and fall of his chest against her breasts, she slept secure in the knowledge she’d found love.
