“Sure, but only if you don’t want to know that I’m clean too,” I said. “I also got an IUD.”
Freezing completely above me, he took my face in his hands and searched it like he was looking for traces that I’d been hurt. “Fuck, Haddie. Are you okay? You did that while you were studying?”
“Well, I wasn’t physically studying at the time,” I joked. “But yes. I got it. Ruby has one. When I asked her about it, she helped me get the appointment and I went ahead with it. I’m fine.”
His forehead dropped to mine. “I know we talked about it, but I could’ve come with you.”
“That’s exactly why I got it,” I said, smiling as I lifted my head off the pillow to speak against his lips. “So you could come with me. Care to give it a try?”
“Fuck yes, but I should warn you. I’ve never done that before. I don’t know if—”
I silenced him with a quick kiss, adjusting my hips to line him up with my entrance. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t last, Dax. I love you. We’ve been together exclusively for months now. I want this. I’m well acquainted with your sexual prowess. You don’t have anything to prove to me.”
The sexual prowess thing was supposed to have lightened the moment, but Dax didn’t take the bait. He was looking at me like I was personally responsible for having hung the moon, the stars, and the sun. It still made my heart skip a beat when he looked at me like that. I hoped it would never change.
“Except how much I love you,” he breathed, his eyes on mine as he slowly pushed into me. “I’ve got the rest of our lives to prove that to you, though. Have I ever told you that I’m so fucking happy we ended up at Edgewater together? I can’t even believe that I used to think you didn’t belong here because you do. You belong here, Haddie. You belong with me. Forever.”
