He kept rocking back and forth, with his stare foreword. “I had to do it. She made me do it. I had to do it.”

A chill came down my spine. “Who made you do it? Who is she? What did you do? Dad please talk to me!”

There was a brief pause, then my father stopped rocking. He lifted up the paper in his hand and said, “She cheated on me. I had to do it. It was the only answer. She had to pay for what she did.”

Walking closer, I looked at the paper in his hand. Reading the first few lines, my heart sank.

  Alexis,

I stopped by your locker today, but you weren't there. I wanted to tell you this in person, but I never managed to work up the courage. The thing is, there is something you should know about me. There is something I did, that you need to know.

My father had found the note! My heart jumped. Wait, did that mean? No it couldn't. What did he mean by she had to pay for what he did. Maya? Oh no, Maya. What had he done to her?

Bringing my flashlight back to the floor, I got a better glimpse of the carpet. I saw definite drag marks leading towards the bathroom. Scared of what I was going to find, I followed the marks,

Slowly, I traced the lines with with my light. Taking one step at a time. In the background I heard the microwave stop. There was a beep to let me know my food was done.

My mind pushed the sound aside and continued towards the bathroom. Getting to the door, the tracks stopped. There was a hole in the sheetrock showing signs of struggle. There was a bit of blood smudged on the doorknob.

I pushed open the door and took a step into the darkness. I pointed my flashlight towards the left wall and traced it with my vision. Getting towards the far end of the room, my eyes drifted upon a stain. It was an odd stain the color of blood.

I walked over and took a closer expectation. There was a definite stain the size of a basketball. To the right, there were more red stains splattered on the wall.

Reaching out and touching the wall, I felt the liquid. It was a sticky paste with an awful odor. I gagged with repulse as the smell plunged into my nostrils.

Bringing my fingers close to the light, I saw that there was something else in the liquid. Pulling it out I became aware of the fact that it was hair. Lifting the hair up to the flashlight I could see that it was blond and coated in blood.

The hair could only belong to one person, Maya. A siren pierced the air as my conscious blacked out.
