“Yes, I did. You were right, it’s beautiful. Did you?”

“I visited some old friends of your father and mine. What do you have planned for your birthday?”

“Mother.” Kyle kissed her forehead. “I won’t be celebrating my birthday alone.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” She waited for his answer, but he just stood there. He didn’t have to answer to anyone. “Please join us for dinner tonight at Paradise.”

“We’ll see. I didn’t sign up for a family vacation.” He picked his towel up off the lounge chair. “I’m walking away.” He lifted his hand and waved at his mother. “Bye, madre…”

“See you at seven,” she yelled.

  Chapter Seven

Destinee stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. “Why can’t you stop smiling?” she asked herself. Her makeup was flawless. She looked like a completely different woman. She picked up the flat iron and glided it through her curly hair. Destinee had less than half of her hair to finish. She ran her other hand through the front of her silky hair. Unlike other women, she would start her hair from front to back. She stretched her arms out. Her shoulders and elbows hurt from styling the back of her head. There was loud knock on her room door. She placed the hot iron on the sink and walked over to the door, pulling it open.

Kyle stood there, looking absolutely gorgeous. He wore a red button-down shirt and black slacks. He smiled, stepping forward, and gave her a peck on the lips. “Hi.”

“Hi.” Destinee could feel her heartbeat speed up. Kyle had that effect on her. “How was your day?”

“Interesting.” He caressed the side of her neck with his fingers. “How was yours?”

  “Relaxing. Thank you for that.”

“You don’t have to thank me. I would do anything to see that smile on your face.” Kyle flicked her long, fake lashes. “I like your makeup, but you’re beautiful without it.”

“You don’t like it,” she softly commented. She’d done all this for him, and he didn’t like it.

“I do.” He moved closer. “I’m just saying you’re beautiful, with or without makeup and all that fake shit.” Kyle touched her lashes again. He pulled on her natural curls, and then combed his fingers through the silky part. “What’s up with your hair?” He chuckled gently, tugging at a curl. “Didn’t you have an appointment at the salon?”

She slapped his hand away from her. “I prefer to do my own hair. Thank you, though.”

“I can help.” He leaned against the doorframe.

Destinee giggled, covering her mouth. “Really. You don’t know how to do a black woman’s hair.”

“Yes, really,” he mocked, shaking his head. “I have a mother, a sister, and I used to have a wife.” He winked. “I think I can manage flat-ironing your hair.”

She moved to the side, waving him in. “You have one chance. If you burn me, you’re done.”

“I won’t.” He entered her room. Destinee gently closed the barrier and strolled over to the bathroom with Kyle in tow. “I’m watching you,” she said, staring at their reflections in the mirror.

Kyle picked up the wide comb, and gently ran it through her curls.

She placed her hand in her hair, stopping him from continuing. “Ouch!” she squealed, frowning.

He bowed his head. “Sorry…” He nipped the side of her neck, making a moan escape her lips. Damn, this man was making her weaker with each passing day. Before she knew it, he would have her bent over, begging him to fuck her.

“Kyle…” she sighed, closing her eyes. His lips felt so right on her sensitive skin. “You’re supposed to be helping me.” She opened her eyes and gazed at him, then pointed at her head.

“Couldn’t help myself,” he whispered, giving her goose bumps, and then he stood straight, parted her hair with the comb, and gripped her locks with the flat iron. Kyle continued the process, gently guiding the gadget down her hair, making it silky-straight. He repeated the steps, and then he did the last section he had left. Kyle picked up a spray off the sink, and sprayed her hair, making it shiny. “I did a great job,” he said proudly, massaging her scalp.

She needed to get a hold of herself. His fingers in her hair were causing a tingling sensation between her legs. “I see you’ve learned a thing or two,” Destinee mentioned as she wiggled her ass. He brought out the flirtatious side in her.

Kyle inched forward, letting her feel his growing erection. “Oh, I have a few tricks up my sleeve.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back against him. “Do you want to see?” He gazed at her in the mirror.

Destinee felt his bulge grow as he rubbed against her. “Stop it.” She chuckled. “Or we aren’t going to make it to dinner.”

  “About that…” He stepped back.

Destinee turned in his arms, and placed her hand on her hip. “You’re standing me up?”

“No.” He took her hand in his, entwining their fingers. “It’s nothing like that. I would never stand you up.” Kyle sighed. “I didn’t know my mother decided to come on this vacation.”

  “Oh.”

“She wants me to join them for dinner, to celebrate, and I couldn’t really say no to my mother, could I?” He tilted his head, gazing at her.

Destinee smirked. “Well, you could’ve said no.” She laughed. “Just kidding. What are they celebrating?”

He brought her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles. “Nothing important. Would you like to come along?”

Destinee shook her head. “No!” She hadn’t meant to sound so harsh. “I mean, I’ll just meet you at the lounge.” She was a little disappointed that she wasn’t going to be spending time with him until later; however, she would never make him choose between her and his family.

“Are you sure?” He squeezed her fingers.

“Yes.” She rose up on her tiptoes and kissed him. “Go have fun with your family, and I will have dinner with my friends.”

“So, when am I meeting these so-called friends?”

“When the time is right.” Destinee strolled out of the bathroom, and opened her room door. “See you tonight at ten, right?”

Kyle eyed her. “Right.” Before he walked out of her room, he tapped her ass. “See you later.”

  Chapter Eight

  Later that night.

Destinee sat at the bar, sipping a glass of red wine.

“What’s a beautiful woman like you doing here alone?” a tall man asked as he stood too close to her.

She rolled her eyes. That was a lame line.

“I’m not alone.” She gave him one of her fake smiles.

“I’ve been watching you since you walked in a while ago. Whoever was supposed to meet you is tad late.” He placed his hand on the stool next to hers. “Can I keep you company until your company arrives?” He leaned on the bar counter.

“My husband will be here soon.” Destinee twisted on the stool, looking away from the man. He ignored her warning and sat next to her anyway. She sighed, taking another sip of her drink. Why had she decided to come to the lounge early?

“I’m Donald.” He extended his arm.

“Donald.” She turned, staring at his palm. “I don’t want any issues when my husband gets here.”

He glanced down at her hand, resting on her lap. “You don’t have to lie to me, sweetheart.” He leaned over, touching her ring finger. “I can take you places no other man could.”

Destinee moved her hand out of his reach. Was this guy crazy? “Keep your hands to yourself,” she said in a stern voice.

“You come in here wearing this dress.” He pulled on one of her spaghetti straps. “And don’t want a man touching or looking at you?”

She slapped his hand off her shoulder. “I’m not going tell you again. Don’t touch me,” Destinee spat, her nose flaring and her chest heaving up and down from how pissed she was. “What I wear doesn’t give you the right to touch or talk to me.”

He grinned, inching closer to her. “Or else?”
/>   Destinee glared at him through narrowed eyes. “Or else I’ll fucking break each one of your fingers.” She slammed her glass on the counter, her drink splattering over the rim. “Touch me again, Donald.”

He smirked, waving his finger inches away from her thigh. Destinee took a deep breath and grabbed the glass in front of her, ready to slam it on his hand.

“Is something wrong?” Kyle said from behind them. From her peripheral vision, she could see him shooting daggers at Donald as he leaned away, out of Kyle’s reach.

“What’s going on?” Kyle stared at her heaving chest, and, apparently, the way she gripped the glass.

Her lips curled up into a grin when she gazed into his amazing irises. “There’s nothing wrong. I was just telling Donald to keep his hands to himself for the third time.”

Donald stood, smoothing his dress shirt. “My bad. I thought she was alone.”

“I told you I was expecting someone, but you kept insisting.” Destinee pointed at him. “You told me that I shouldn’t wear this dress if I didn’t want men hitting on me. Right, Donald?” She tilted her head, glaring at him.

“Whatever. You aren’t all that.” He stood in order to walk away, but Kyle stepped in front of him, making him stop. “Move out of my way.”

“Not until we get something straight.” Kyle clenched his jaw. “Just because she said no to your advances doesn’t warrant you talking to her the way you did.” He inched closer, looking down on the man. Kyle was a protector; watching him get all possessive turned her on. “When a woman says don’t fucking touch her, she shouldn’t have to repeat herself.” He ranged closer to Donald. “Especially mine. I don’t have a problem teaching you a lesson.” The vein in the side of his neck bulged.

“Understood,” Donald huffed as he stepped away.

She stood, taking Kyle’s hand in hers. “Let him go.” Destinee smiled. “He’s not worth spoiling our night. I thought you were having dinner with your mom?”

“My mother stood me up.” He wrapped his arms around her waist. “I knocked on your cabin door, but you were already gone.”

“I had an early dinner, and decided to come here early.” She caressed his bulging biceps.

“Kyle,” a woman’s voice called out. They both glanced over to the entrance. Destinee’s nose began to flare as she stared down the same women from earlier that morning.

“Paola, Lettie.” Kyle nodded. “This is my date, Destinee.”

“Your date?” Paola thinned her red-painted lipstick. “I thought you said she wasn’t your girlfriend?” She smirked, staring at Destinee.

“I never said that.” Kyle raised one of his eyebrows, looking first at Paola and then at Destinee. “Babe, I never said that.” He cupped her face. “I would never deny what we have, to anyone.”

“I know.” Destinee placed her hands over his, ignoring his little friends. They weren’t going to get to her. “Tonight’s karaoke night.” she smiled, only for Kyle. The two rude asses walked right back out of the lounge, obviously with their feelings hurt.

“Are you going to sing for me?” He traced her lips with his fingertip.

“Do you want me to?” Her whole body tingled as he continued to outline her bottom lip.

“Yes.” Kyle bent his head and gave her a feathery kiss. “Can you sing?” He chuckled.

“I guess you’ll find out.” She winked and walked away to the DJ’s booth.

Kyle ordered a glass of whiskey and sat on an empty barstool in the back, watching Destinee as she made her way to the small stage, and grabbed the mic. She wore a backless, blue, spaghetti-strap dress he had bought her in Puerto Rico. It hugged her curves in all the right places. He glanced over at the fool who’d dared to touch her. Why was he still here? Donald stared at Destinee. Kyle took a gulp of the brown liquor, and gasped at the burning sensation.

The music stared playing, and she started to sing, Spoiled by Joss Stone. Kyle swallowed, gazing at her as she poured her soul into the song. His dick jerked as she hit the high notes. He wondered if the lyrics of the song were for him, because if he were given the opportunity, he would spoil her over and over again, giving her anything she wanted.

Destinee closed her eyes for a few seconds, and gripped the microphone. Then she searched the room until her eyes found his. Her lips curled up as she continued singing. Her voice was angelic. She finished, and the small crowd clapped as she made her way to where he was seated.

“How did I sound?” She beamed.

He placed the glass on the counter and gripped her wrist, pulling her forward, then captured her mouth. He’d waited long enough; she would be his tonight. Her lips parted, and he slipped inside and sucked on her tongue, and then Destinee pushed away and wiped her lips.

“I need you.” Kyle gazed into her eyes. “Don’t tell me you’re not ready.”

“I’m ready.” She took his hand, and he stood and followed her out of the lounge.

“Don’t deny me.” Kyle was practically begging at this point. No other woman would do, except her. He pinned her against the wall. He couldn’t wait any longer, just needed a taste. He wrapped his hands around her waist, inching her closer. Kyle swallowed, gazing in to her eyes “I…” He swallowed.

“Shhh.” She placed her finger over his lips. “My body is yours.”

Kyle explored her thighs, inching her dress up higher, until her touched her panties. He moved the flimsy material out of the way, and parted her labia. “Fuck,” he whispered in her ear. “You’re so wet.”

Destinee closed her eyes, and gasped. They were lost in the moment and didn’t notice Donald watching them until Kyle twisted to the side and saw him staring at them. Kyle rapidly fixed her clothes. “What the fuck are you looking at?”

“This is a public place.” He smirked.

Kyle stepped in front of Destinee as she hid her face in embarrassment. “Oh, God.”

“That doesn’t give you the right to just stare at us!” Kyle yelled. This was his fault. He should’ve taken her straight to his room instead of acting like a damned horny teenage boy who was about to get his first piece of pussy.

“I knew there was something sweet about you.” Donald sniffed the air. “When you’re done with this punk, I’m in—”

He didn’t get to finish his sentence, Kyle rushed forward, snatching the man by the collar of his shirt. Donald grabbed Kyle’s wrist, but he didn’t budge. “I warned you, motherfucker.” He walked him back until Donald bumped against the railing. “Are you fucking crazy,” he roared, “talking to her like that?”

“Kyle!” Destinee yelled. “Let him go. He’s drunk.”

“That doesn’t excuse his behavior,” Kyle said through clenched teeth.

“Babe.” She touched his back. “Please don’t let him ruin our night. I don’t want it to end.”

Kyle loosened his grip on Donald. “You’re right.”

“You punk!” His breath smelled of pure liquor.

“You’re lucky she saved your ass.” Kyle stepped back, and smoothed out the guy’s shirt. “When you see my wife, turn the other way, or I swear I will fucking throw you overboard.” He stepped back, and was about to move away, but instead twisted around and connected his fist with Donald’s chin.

  Donald gasped, grabbing his jaw.

Kyle took Destinee’s hands in his. “Let’s go.”

“I’m suing your ass!” Donald yelled as they strolled away.

“See you in court, you pervert.” Kyle twisted around and flipped him off.

Destinee shook her head. “You never change, do you?”

“I can’t do this anymore.” He pinched his nose and stopped.

  “What?” Her eyes widened.

“That motherfucker could’ve hurt you if I wasn’t there.” He balled his fist. “I’m done playing these damn games with you.” He stared at her. “I want you back. You’re my fucking wife and we’re walking around this ship, acting like we don’t fucking know each other.”

  Destine
e didn’t say anything. She rubbed her arms as the wind blew.

He took off his dress shirt, and placed it over her shoulders. “Dee, why are you here?” he whispered. “I came on this trip to get over you and then I turn around and you’re standing there.”

“Kyle.” She touched his face. “I miss you.” Tears rolled down her cheeks. “I’m here because I want to fight for what we had.”

“Dee, you walked out on me,” he softly stated. “You fucking broke my heart. I never lied to you. From the start, I told you who I was and what I wanted.”

“I know you did, but…” She dropped her hands and walked over to the side of the ship.

“But what? You thought you could change me?” He hated to see her hurt. “I meant what I said. I will give you anything your heart desires, even a baby.”

Destinee twisted around. “That’s not what you want.”

“Tesoro, but that’s what you want.” He gazed at her. “I want what makes you happy. It’s called compromise.”

“You can’t compromise on a child!” she yelled.

“I was selfish, thinking of myself.” He paced. “I didn’t want to leave a kid fatherless!” He huffed in frustration. It didn’t seem like he was convincing her. Kyle cocked his brow. “So where do we stand? Do you want to continue with the divorce?”

  “I want you!” she screamed.

“And I want you.” He moved closer, caging her in his arms. “Dee, you’re my everything. Life without you is fucking depressing. I’ve been an ass to everybody because I lost my heart when you walked away. Please come back home.”

“I’ll come back home.” She took a deep breath. “But I won’t be alone.”

“What do you mean, you won’t be alone?” He backed away.

“I left because I felt like I had no other choice.” She looked away. “Kyle, I was pregnant.”

“What?” His heart stopped. “What did you just say?”

“I was pregnant,” she repeated. “I don’t know how it happened. I was on the Pill. I knew you didn’t want a baby, and I didn’t want to hear you tell me to have—”
