“They are right here.” Kyle walked up with Nate and Natalie in his arms. “Your kids were throwing sand in Makayla’s hair.” He placed them down on the floor. “Thank God Kyler isn’t this energetic, or I wouldn’t have convinced Dee to have another kid.”

Matt chuckled. “Shannon is going kill you. Matthew and Kyler are sweet, calm kids. Wait until you have baby number two.” Matt smirked.

Andrew stared at his children. “Wait until I tell your mom.”

“I sorry, Daddy.” Grinning, Nate looked up and wiped his dirty hands on his pants.

Natalie pouted. “I gonna be good, Daddy.” She raised her arms, and he lifted her up and kissed her nose.

“She has you wrapped around her finger.” Kyle smiled. He wondered what his life would have been like without Kyler in his life. His son gave them a reason to laugh, to fight for love, and now they were adding to a family he’d once thought he could live without.

“Daddy, Mommy!” Kyler yelled, waving his hand. “Come here.”

“See you boys later.” Kyle lips curled as he watched his son.

“Your son has you wrapped around his finger.” Andrew laughed, rocking his daughter in his arms.

“Yes, he does.” Kyle walked over to the stairs, where his son and wife were starting to go down. “Wait up.”

“Look!” Kyler pointed at the breathtaking sunset. “Pretty.”

They made it down to the white, sandy beach. Their little boy moved between them, grabbing their hands as they walked down the shore, getting their feet wet.

Sometimes, the things you never wanted in life are the best things for you.
