“The first time I fucked you?” He breathed a laugh. “Feels like that was a lifetime ago.”
“I know.” She smiled fondly, caressing the scratches on his back she hadn’t known she was causing. “When do you think you fell in love with me?” Saying the words aloud sent a thrill of blushing modesty through her.
Damian considered the question. “Long before I ever got to fuck you, I know that much.” He pondered the notion awhile longer. “The first night you let me sleep in the same bed with you, I knew I wanted to sleep with you for the rest of my life.”
His words filled her with effervescence as she comprehended the weight of them. We could get married… The quixotic dream crumbled as quickly as it formed when she recalled the depressing difference in their mortalities. “You’re going to live so much longer than me.”
He lifted his head to behold her pouting lips. “I know. We’ll have to make you immortal.”
Her dispirited expression changed to one of disbelief. “I didn’t think that was possible without severe side-effects… Could we really do that?”
“I figured convincing you to live forever with me would be the hardest part.” Damian stared down at her mouth. “I’ll find a way.” His incandescent gaze drifted to hers, spellbound. “And we can be in love with each other for the rest of eternity.”
