LOST KING: THE KINGS OF RETRIBUTION MC
Page 6
Thirty minutes later after I carried a sated Emerson into the shower and proceeded to worship every inch of her body as I washed it, I carry her back to bed. Now we both lay here with her draped over my chest and I ask her a question about something I've wanted to know the answer to for over a year. "Why a peacock?" I remember the first time I saw her tattoo. We were at one of the kid's birthday party, and Emerson was in a bikini with her tats on full display shocking everyone.
"A peacock is proud and confident, and not afraid to show their colors. That's what I aspire to be like," she tells me in an almost sad tone.
"What do you mean? What are you afraid of?"
"I'm afraid of disappointing people. Mainly my parents."
What the fuck. Emerson's admission has me sitting up in bed. Following my movement, she straightens herself while keeping the blanket clutched to her chest.
"How could you say something like that. You could never be a disappointment. And fuck anyone who doesn't agree with what you do. You're a doctor for Christ sakes babe; you don't get much better than that."
"Not according to my parents," she sighs. "Look, my mom and dad are great. They love me, and I had a good childhood, but they push too hard, you know. They feel I could be doing more with my life."
"Like what?" I spit out.
"Well like where I work for example. My parents feel I should be putting my skills to use at some well known fancy hospital and eventually work my way up the ladder just as they have."
"And what do you want, Sunshine?" A big smile takes over her face at my question.
"I want my own small family practice. I'd like it to be here in Polson. I love living in a small town. I want something slower pace—more personal. I love helping people, but I also love getting to know them. I want to know their stories. Working in the E.R everything is fast paced. I don't even have time to learn my patient's name. You know what I mean?" Shaking her head, she looks down with a somber look on her face. "Sounds kind of stupid don't it?"
Using my finger, I tip her chin bringing her eyes to look at mine. "It doesn't sound stupid at all babe. Sounds like a pretty kickass plan to me. I think you should go for it. Open your clinic. That's just the kind of place Polson needs. This is your life, Emerson. You shouldn't give a fuck what anyone thinks, your parents included."
"What about you?" she asks turning the subject around on me, "Were your parents upset at your decision to join the MC?"
"Hell no. My parents supported my choice from day one. We moved from California to Polson when I was in high school. My mom is a psychiatrist, and her mentor had offered her a job working with her. High school is where I first met Logan and Reid. Some douchebag bully was kickin' my ass in the bathroom at school one day. Logan and Reid saw what was going on and stepped in. From that day forward, I latched on to those two like white on rice. Fuckers didn't have a chance in hell gettin' rid of me after that. I designated myself as their new best friend. It didn't take them long to accept what was," I say with a smirk.
"Yeah, I think I'm beginning to learn you don't give up too easily," she teases.
"Not when I know something is worth it I don't," I level her with a look letting my words sink in before I continue.
"Anyway, that very same day I began hangin' with Logan and Reid, they started bringing me around the club. That's when I met Jake and everyone else. I knew right away the club was where I belonged. I can't explain it."
"I get it," she says cutting me off, "the club is amazing. I can see why you chose to be a part of it."
Grinning, I lean down and take her mouth with mine. "I knew you would be perfect for me. I've known for a long damn time, Sunshine."
"Oh really? When did you know?"
"The second time I saw you. When you walked into Alba's hospital room, I knew right then you were supposed to be mine. Fate brought you to Polson and to me. One thing my father taught me was when God brings the right woman into your life, you do whatever necessary to make her yours. My dad should know, he chased after Mom for months before she finally gave in and they've been together ever since. Close to thirty years."
"Will you tell me about them? About you and them?" Emerson asks nervously. Only she shouldn't be.
"You talkin' about my adoption?"
"If it's something you don't like talking about we don't have to," she is quick to throw out. Leaning back against the headboard I snag Emerson around her waist and haul her up with me, letting her rest her head on my chest.
"My adoption is not a sore subject, Sunshine. It's very simple. My birth parents were young when they had me; still in high school. Both knew they would not be able to provide for a child. So, they figured adoption was best. Mom and Dad tried for several years to get pregnant, but her doctor said their chances were slim to none. Long story short they adopted me."
"Have you ever met your birth parents?"
"No. I know who they are and where they live but have never had the desire to meet them. They are both married to different people and seem happy. Plus, I'm happy. I have two of the greatest parents anyone could ever hope for." We sit in silence for a beat while she soaks in the information I just handed before she asks her next question.
"What about your sister?"
A huge smile takes over my face at the mention of Kat. "Kat was a surprise. My parents were blown away when they discovered my mom was pregnant. I was already in high school when she came along. Katalina is smart, beautiful, sassy and has me wrapped around her finger."
"I'll bet she does," Emerson says letting out a yawn.
Tucking her in closer to my side, I kiss the top of her head. "That's enough storytellin' for now. Let's get some sleep. I'm going to want your pussy one more time before work tomorrow." My comment earns me a giggle from Emerson. Silence fills the room a minute before I ask. "Emerson?"
"Yeah?"
"Give me the words."
"I'm yours."
"That's my girl."
"Goodnight, Quinn."
"Night, Sunshine."

The next morning I'm walking into work after dropping Emerson off at the hospital when Jake walks out of his office with a grim expression on his face. "What's up Prez?"
"I want you to go down to Charley's. He just called. Said he had a couple of bikers in there and they were not one of us." His new-found information has me on high alert, and I think back to the incident I had with the fucker who almost ran me off the road. "On it Prez," I say turning on my heel and make my way back out to my bike. "Gabriel is going to meet you there," Jake adds. Gabriel and I arrive at Charley's at the same time. We acknowledge each other with a chin lift as we walk into the bar with the intention of seeing who the hell these motherfuckers are.
Charley steps around the bar when he sees us walk in. "They're gone. High tailed their asses out of here about five minutes ago. They might have suspected something when they saw me on the phone. Anybody who's anybody knows my loyalty lies with The Kings. Any respectable club would know not to show up on another club's territory without proper notice."
"You recognize either one of them?" I ask while Gabriel remains silent as he looks around the bar on high alert.
"No, I never saw them before. They had Satans Reapers cuts on. I will tell you this though, there's trouble there. I felt it in my bones as soon as they strode their asses into my bar."
"Fuck," I curse under my breath. "Alright, Charley. Thanks for lettin' us know. Did you get that feed for us? I'll pass it along to Reid. See what he can dig up."
"Sure do. Here ya go," he says handing me the USB with today's security feed on it.
"You want me to send one of the guys down here to watch over the place?"
"That won't be a necessary, son," he tells me lifting his flannel shirt revealing his piece strapped to his side.
Smirking, I clap Charley on his back. "We'll catch ya later, man. Call us if ya need anything." With that, Gabriel and I make our way back out of the bar and to our bikes. We share a look.
A look that says that shit is about to hit the fan here in Polson. These sons of bitches don't know who they are fuckin' with, but they're about to find out.
Chapter Eight
Emerson
I'm standing at my locker in the lounge at work when my phone alerts me to a text. Pulling it from my pocket, I smile, and my stomach is overcome with butterflies when I see who it's from.
Quinn: Miss me?
Me: Maybe.
Quinn: Admit it Sunshine.
Me: Don't flatter yourself.
Quinn: I know that sweet pussy of yours misses me.
I feel my cheeks flush at his last text. He's not wrong. My lady bits start to tingle at the memory of the dirty things Quinn did to my body last night.
Quinn: I'll take your silence as a yes.
Me: Is there something you needed?
Quinn: I want you to come straight to the clubhouse after work. I know your shift ended ten minutes ago. I'll see you in fifteen.
Me: What if I had plans?
Quinn: You do. With my cock.
Me: On my way.
Giggling to myself, I shove my phone back in my pocket. No way am I going argue with that because let's face it. He's not wrong. Opening my locker, I take the large manila envelope my brother had delivered to me earlier and place it in my bag. Then I slip my lab coat off, but when I go to place it on the hanger my mind drifts back to what Quinn requested last night, and with a grin, I fold it and put it in my bag as well.
Fifteen minutes later, I pull up outside the clubhouse to see Quinn leaning against the wall waiting on me. He wastes no time striding to my Jeep, pulling open the door and hauling me into his chest, and searing my mouth with a brutal kiss. Quinn kisses me as if he craves my taste. Once he's had his fill, he sets me down on my feet and takes my hand in his. "Come on, babe. Let's go inside."
I walk beside him across the clubhouse parking lot hand in hand. When I scan the lot I see Bella's car, and Alba's truck is here. I suddenly become nervous because this will be mine and Quinn's first public display. When we walk inside together holding hands, it will show everyone we are together. It makes this thing between us feel more official. As if he senses what I'm thinking Quinn squeezes my hand and I look up at his handsome face only to see him grinning from ear to ear. "How come you look like a little boy who has a shiny new toy, and he can't wait for show and tell?"
"Because I've been waitin' for this moment for a long fuckin' time. I've claimed my Sunshine, and now everyone is going to know."
Damn, when he puts it like that, I can't help but smile back. With unfaltering steps, we walk inside. The slam of the door behind us grabs the attention of everyone in the room. Both Bella and Alba look at me knowingly while Logan, Gabriel, Reid, and Jake bang their beer bottles on the bar and cheer.
"Your ass owes me fifty bucks, son," Jake announces clapping Logan on his back. Pulling out his wallet he takes out some cash and slaps it on the bar.
"What the hell you two assholes bettin' on?" this coming from Quinn. It's Logan who speaks up. "Prez and I had a bet going on how long it would take you two to finally get your shit together. I said it would take your ass at least another year to seal the deal, but Prez here said three months. That was two months ago."
"What about your grumpy ass?" Quinn asks turning his attention to Gabriel who has remained quiet. All we get is a grunt in response, then we see Alba walk up to her husband with her hand held out. Quinn's mouth falls open when Gabriel passes Alba a few bills, and she tucks them away in her pocket with a triumphed look on her pretty face. "His bet was with me."
"Well, I'm glad to see some of ya have some confidence in me."
"Don't go gettin' all sensitive on us, brother. We knew it would happen eventually," Logan chimes in.
"So, what are your plans tonight?" Bella asks cutting in. "You two want to come to the house for supper?"
"Hell, yeah darlin'! You know I won't turn down your cookin'," Quinn says rubbing his hands together.
"I can't tonight," I throw in. Digging into my bag, I pull out the envelope my brother sent earlier, "and if all of you all are game I have somewhere I'd like to take you."
Quinn looks at me with confusion. "What you got in there babe?"
"Tickets to go see East of Addiction in Missoula."
"No fucking way!" Logan booms jumping up from his bar stool. "How the hell did you get those? They've been sold out for weeks."
I shrug my shoulders, "I have my ways. So, what do you guys say? Can you get someone to watch the kids?"
"Already taken care of," Bella announces holding up her phone. "Sofia and Leah have agreed to watch the kids at mine and Logan's place." Turning to Jake, she continues, "I even called Grace, she's taking Remi over there now and she will meet us here, and since Alba and Gabriel's kids are already there, then everything is settled."
Everyone looks at Bella with an amused expression. "Don't look at me like that. Momma needs a night out on the town. Now let's get moving people. Alba, Emerson let's go upstairs and get ready." With that, she turns on her heel and makes her way upstairs. Alba and I share a look before shrugging our shoulders and follow behind.
An hour later, we're cruising down the road headed for Missoula with Jake leading the way. Directly behind him to the right is Logan, next to Logan is Reid. Behind Reid is Quinn and me, and riding beside us is Gabriel and Alba. Quinn explained to me earlier this is the formation they ride in when they are all together. It's a sight to see. How they ride together in sync. The way they follow their fierce leader and command the road is beautiful. An hour later heads turn as we pull into the parking lot of the outdoor amphitheater my brother and his band are playing. I'm amped with excitement to see him. It's been months.
"How good are our seats?" Alba asks climbing off Gabriel's bike. When she takes her helmet off Alba shakes out her long blonde locks, and draws the attention from several red-blooded men walking by. One dipshit in particular walks pass and comes a little too close for Gabriel's liking. So close that the six-foot-four Cuban steps in front of the unsuspecting guy causing him to crash right into Gabriel's chest. Stumbling back a few steps in shock the poor kid finally takes in his current surroundings and notices the man that has blocked his path and the cut he is wearing. "If you want to keep those eyes of yours, I suggest they not look at my woman again," Gabriel warns. Frantically nodding his head, the guy looks at Jake, Reid, and Quinn who have gathered at Gabriel's side. After agreeing the guy makes a hasty retreat. Hopefully he'll spread the word and we can avoid another incident. I look over at Alba to see her rolling her eyes. I'm sure she's used to her husband's protectiveness by now.
"To answer your question, we're front row," I say after the show of dominance has ended.
"No shit, Sunshine? How'd you pull that off?" Quinn asks snagging me around my waist.
"I told you I have connections. Now come on. I have backstage passes too." With that, I take Quinn's hand and lead my friends through the seating area and around the corner of the stage towards the back. Arriving at a long hallway filled with staff members, roadies, and barely dressed groupies, I spy a familiar face.
"Em! Is that you girl?" Teddy a huge burly man who is a part of my brother's security greets me. "Hi, Teddy! Have you seen…" I don't get to finish my sentence when my brother shouting my name answers it. I see him walk out of a room at the end of the hall with a massive smile on his face that mirrors my own. I break away from Quinn and run as fast as my legs will carry me and jump into Easton's waiting arms and we hug the shit out of each other. A minute later our happy reunion is broken up when Quinn snatches me from my brother's arms and stands toe to toe with him.
"Want to tell me what the fuck is going on here?" his enraged voice vibrates off the walls.
I nervously look to my brother, but he doesn't back down and rewards Quinn with an arrogant smirk. Easton knows all about Quinn and if I know my brother he will use this opportunity to mess with him. Only the last thing I want is a fight to break out a
nd for someone to end up hurt or in jail, so I quickly step in. Placing my hand on Quinn's chest, I bring his attention to me.
"Quinn, I'd like you to meet my brother Easton. East, this is Quinn." At the mention of the word brother Quinn loses the rage that was in his eyes moments ago and visibly relaxes.
"Brother?"
"Yes. Easton is my twin brother, and he's the lead singer for East of Addiction."
"Holy shit!" I hear Logan say from somewhere behind us.
"Why the hell didn't ya tell me this before babe? Instead you had of me thinkin' I was about to have to rip someone's head off?"
"I was. I planned on introducing you tonight."
"So, you're telling me not only do you have a brother, but he's your twin, and he also happens to be the singer for one of the hottest bands in the world right now?"
I shrug my shoulder. "Um yeah, that's what I'm saying."
"Always full of surprises aren't you, Sunshine?" Quinn teases then turns his attention to my brother and offers his hand. "Nice to meet ya, man."
"You too, Quinn. Em hasn't stopped talking about you. Every time we talk it's Quinn this and Quinn that. Oww! Easton grunts when I punch him in his stomach.
"No, I do not, East! You better quit lying," I fuss, but the damage is already done. No way is Quinn going to let this shit go. I'm proven right when he opens his mouth.
"Oh really? Tell me, baby, what kinds of stuff you tellin' him? You tell him how much of a sexy motherfucker I am?" he taunts and my face flushes with embarrassment.
Pointing my finger at my brother, I give him fair warning, "you'll pay for this asshole!"
"Looking forward to it, Sis," Easton says as he retreats walking backward. "You guys enjoy the show."
I look around at all the people crowding the hall and the dozens of groupies who are lined up outside my brother's dressing room door with the hopes of being the lucky chosen one he beds tonight. Then a wicked thought comes to mind.
