Luxemburg, California was a sleepy little town; it reminded one of the little neighborhoods of Ridge Avenue in Philly. Everyone seemed to know everyone else. You couldn’t move your feet and not step on one of your fellow Luxembourgers. They were everywhere and for a fellow that was a serial killer that was a problem. Strauss loved the aloofness of a large city, he could do and say things and no one would pay much attention to him until it was too late. It was then his decision was made up that he would commit his acts some distance from where he lived even it might have to be as far away as Los Angeles. Strauss started in the Hancock section of LA, famous for Melrose and Wilshire Boulevard. He had noticed the richer a neighborhood was the looser they were in security and trusting others. He put on his most high class veneer and proceeded to blend in with the rest of his environment. He hadn’t a penny to his name but he was the right color and personality to accomplish just about anything. He traveled on foot avoiding a car rental and sometimes even public transportation. Something caught his eye; it was one of those old time diners, the kind which was shaped like a huge aluminum trailer. Needless to say they were empty this time of the morning. It was only one person there, a young woman. She was very beautiful, blonde and long legged, just the way he liked them. Their eyes met and it was a moment of recognition that occurred even though they had never met before. “Can I get hash browns and eggs turned over easy,” he said with a joyful tilt to his voice.
“We’re not really open this early but for a famished good looking man like you, I will make an exception,” she said with almost a slight sexy whisper. Strauss stared at her from behind as she leaned over to fix the breakfast, she was long and sexy almost like a movie star, and she definitely didn’t belong here and looked out of place. They talked for hours as she fixed the meal and even after as they sat down together in the diner still alone with no other customers but him. “You know, I don’t mean to be abrupt but you don’t look like someone that would be working here,” he said trying to be overtly friendly and very cautious with his wordings. She blinked and answered without hesitation, “You are very perceptive and I guess you read body language very well, I like a lot of people who work in the restaurant field and live in LA am an actor, I had a few parts in commercials and TV, I’m still looking and hoping to land that first real part that will launch me into stardom.”
Wow this must be one of your slow days, I’ve been here for at least two hours and no one’s here don’t get me wrong I’m enjoying your company, I just noticed,” he said. The feeling must have been mutual she smiled and gave no reply; they went to dinner later that night at an expensive restaurant near Melrose avenue. She took him in very quickly, how unusual he thought to himself, she was so trusting to a stranger. He was sitting later on in her apartment just five minutes after meeting her, all he could say to himself and repeating his memorized mantra gleefully was, “you will pay, you will pay and she did. The room was half lit with candles, a serene and romantic atmosphere indeed. The plates were laid out on the table and the eating utensils were chopsticks, no doubt to match the Chinese dinner. Strauss embraced the woman suddenly and she swooned with delight. It was at this time he reached towards her ear with the chopsticks in his hands and stabbed her in the neck repeatedly. He left a little calling card for Lomax, he was quite sure he would get it and soon.
It was slow at the Philly PD since the professor had suddenly disappeared. Was he the only one responsible for the murders or was he the leader and catalyst? I had received a strange call from of all places LA’s Melrose area, a very upscale and ‘richy rich’ area. “My name is inspector Frieda Hart, we have something here that might interest you, instead of running here right now, I will fax you a picture of the item and if it interest you, you can come here as soon as possible and see if it connects with the case you have,” she said impatiently. The fax came in; the object was a liberty bell which was an icon symbolic of the city of Philadelphia. It could mean it probably had something to with our cases but who knows, however I was curious. I caught the first thing smoking for LA. I packed a bag with one extra shirt and tie, and I was gone. I arrived the next day, the Melrose PD office was immaculate and professional not that we weren’t but I was taken aback by the cleanness. I guess that’s why they call our fair city, Filthydelphia. I requested to meet with inspector Hart. She responded quickly to my response. She walked into the outer office slowly and sexy. She was tall and slender with a body of a model. She was dressed in all red with a skirt that hugged her athletic body, pretty snazzy for a lead detective. I was smitten but I tried very hard to hold myself together. I was all business and said, “Hi, I’m Dr Detective Lomax, could we get to crime scene as soon as possible.” She stared at me in amazement and said, “Wow you’re short on the chit chat aren’t you.” We arrived at the apartment, it was upscale and spotless, and if it wasn’t for the murder you couldn’t tell anything went wrong at all in this place. The body was placed in a missionary position on the floor with the liberty bell standing prominently on the mantle without anything else.
Ch 30
“In Washington, the first thing people tell you is what their job is. In Los Angeles you learn their star sign. In Houston you're told how rich they are. And in New York they tell you what their rent is. “
-Simon Hoggart quotes -
My phone started to ring excessively, my first reaction was not to answer but everyone was staring at me so I picked the phone up reluctantly and pressed it to my ears. There was no answer at first only hard breathing and finally the voice began, “So Mister Lomax you have received my calling card, good bye.” And that was it, short and sweet, just enough to get my attention and keep us in suspense. The voice was unrecognizable; perhaps one of those enhanced pieces used to change the recognition of the voice. But in my gut I felt it was the professor. The liberty bell was a clue that he was leaving me to let me know that he is still involved and active in the murder landscape no matter where it is whether it’s in Philly are in an obscure place like LA. Rouse had his fun and was off to visit Europe and the holy land; he was feeling spiritual and religious even though he wasn’t a practicing Jew. Rouse often wondered what the attraction was to religion and how he could use it in the control of his minions, thereby creating a new creed. He went through the whole bowing and placing the note into the wailing wall of Solomon; for him it wasn’t very exciting and how could it be for someone who is in essence a follower of the devil.
His was a movement for murder, the soldiers were in place and all he waited for was the word from his leader. Most of his soldiers thought he was the leader but it will be a surprise when they find out that it is a different person at the helm of the movement. The master wasn’t an everyday man but a master of the ghoulish and had in his possession PhD’s of about five fields of study. However, Rouse was beginning his chapter of mayhem as an international killer and it would all come together in the guise of worshipping Kali, the basis has all ways been the thuggie cult or Phansigar. Phansigar was a word used in Southern India which meant stranglers. The group started their chapters of murder and pandemonium using the knowledge of Khali; however it was time to return to who they really were.
The professor returns to Paris, he hadn’t been there in about five years; he had taken trophies from his last kill there and had in
his mental records the killing from the first to the last knife thrust. Ah, the sites of gay Parie he thought to himself were beautiful. He immediately headed for the Eifel tower where one of the most efficient chef’s in Paris worked. He ordered the roasted lamb with the most expensive wine the Romanée Conti which went for approximately 15,000 dollars. The waiter looked at him curiously because it was apparent that he didn’t look like the type who could spend that type of money for single bottle of wine and then drink alone to enjoy without the company of a significant other. He didn’t know it but he caused quite a buzz in the restaurant, some were wondering was he a rich American celebrity or athlete. One curious curvaceous blonde caught his eyes and she was beckoned by his eyes which showed interest and lust. She walked over to his table slowly and seductively and said, “Bonjour, comment talle-vous, I noticed you from the far end of the restaurant and I was telling my girl friend that you seem like a man of success and fame.”
“Well merci bien, I’m flattered would you like to partake in some of this fine Romanée Conti,” he said with his mind working fast ahead to the desert he will have once he thrust the last stroke of the knife into her divinely scrumptious body. The professor noticed with all the class that the woman was exhibiting, she still showed the tell-tale signs of a slut and whore, and this would make it an obvious excuse to kill her. He had excused himself and went toward the bathroom. He only spent a minute in the stalls when he heard a feminine voice which was alien to the men’s room. Someone knocked on the stall door, he opened it and there she was with her top pulled down showing her exposed inflated breast. “Do you need some help in there?” she said with her most sexiest and low voice.
He stared with his mouth wide opened and said, “I could use a lot of help where would you like to start first.”
She came closer and closer, with each step an article of clothing was discarded which finally left her completely naked except her high heel shoes in the men’s stall. He was delighted at what was in front of him but not for the reason she thought. His main objective was to kill, the manly arousal didn’t matter, and he just constantly said to himself, “You will pay, you will pay and she did just like the others.” He entered her from the back, her movements were slow and entertaining, before he could feel her climax, the professor slipped the garrote out of his jacket pocket and wrapped it around her neck, her whole body quivered as she was going through some ecstasy as if to climax. But his ultimate climax was the life being drained out of her body, she went limp and he discarded her on the piss laden floor.
Strauss had an entertaining time but it was time to leave, blood is blood but the ambiance of the gritty streets made the lust for blood more intense and intensity was what it was all about, in addition, he had committed a murder in one of the most popular eating spots in gay Parie and no one gave him any thought, the news media was blanketed, at home he would be a cause célèbre in no time.
Ch 31
I was still in LA and planned to leave soon, there wasn’t anything here and to me the best place to be was the place that everything began. But always when I think one way something else seems to pop up. Hence, Inspector Hart walked briskly to my office desk area and just stood there staring at me. she was obviously out of breath and said , “ We have some news from a Paris PD , they have a murder and the scene and MO is much like the one we have here, he left another clue , which was a Philadelphia Eagles t-shirt written in Hebrew.”
I was dumbstruck, “I don’t know what is so unusual, the MO or the Eagles t-shirt in Hebrew.”
“I also would suggest that we get in touch with the Israeli police and ascertain if there have been any murders that are similar to what we have here.” The response from the Israeli’s was that this was an unusual murder, murder itself is not unusual for the holy land but this type was more brutal and heinous than any other. I spoke to a detective Shearone he was cooperative but tired at informing me of what happened , he sounded as if he had more on his plate to handle other than worry about a detective from America.
“The killing took place in the small area of Musrara, which was an established outside the holy walls. It was an area created as suburbs for wealthy Christians, they soon abandoned the area and the area fell in dispute with Jordan, there even were a few bombings in this area. It had become a no man’s land. But, two women were murdered there, their throats slit and sexual organs removed. There were no clues and the murders stopped as soon as they begun. Oh and that Hebrew Eagles’ t-shirt you inquired about is sold in the market places of Jerusalem,” he announced and hung up afterward with authority.
This unsub is leaving bread crumbs like Hansel and Gretel, to lead ultimately in finding him, Lomax thought to himself. Detective Hart place some of the clues on the bulletin board, first was the liberty bell and then the Philadelphia Eagles t-shirt, it was a diagram placed in a triangle, it made sense but it was so parochial and easy to decipher that one wouldn’t believe that he was trying to confuse anyone but that he was attempting to clearly point a finger in his own direction.
Tuesday,10:00 a.m.
LA was sunny and easy going but I needed the grit and cool weather of the City of Brotherly Love to think straight, it really was an oxymoron but it was something that I was accustomed to. On arriving at the precinct I noticed a few reporters lingering around but I didn’t know how they received information on my itinerary however I knew I was heading back but into the information age nothing is hidden and information can be pulled out of the cyber atmosphere. “So, have you had any luck in tracking information about the killer, I know you’ve been to LA along with the Paris and Jerusalem Police department is involved,” said the attractive female news reporter. That’s all I need was to hear that my every move was being monitored, but Sara Hinton was a reporter that I often gave bits of info to and it went both ways. I looked at her very intensely and said, “Come on Sara, you know I can’t discuss an ongoing investigation.”
“You know that might have played well with any other case but this one is laid out for the public on computer monitors all over the world, you haven’t any secrets where this is concerned,” she said with a smirk.
I knew I was back home , all the cynicism and pressure , even though I had solved many mysteries and arrested plenty of these fiends , but as Janet Jackson had said on one of her recording hits , “What have you done for me lately” . However, in the final analysis, it didn’t matter what the media believed or wrote, it was about the successful results that I and my group would create by catching the elusive unsubs. I walked briskly to my desk, Omar was facing me with his face all lit up and bright drinking his funky precinct coffee but seemed satisfied and delighted to see me. He groped for a sentence and said, “I’m glad to see you back, there haven’t been any crazy murders or anything like that since your boy has been gone.”
I took the same amount of time he took to answer, “ Well it seems as though , the unsub has taken his show on the road by going national and international but I believe he will be back here shortly, there’s nothing like the Philly air to bring out his best.” I walked over to the board to place down the recent info about our unsub, first I put up the recent murders and number them numerically, first LA, Jerusalem, Musrara and then lastly Paris. The clues followed using the same methods; the Liberty Bell and then the Eagles T-shirt from Jerusalem were added. I addressed those that were present at the office, “There is something awfully offsetting about this whole sordid affair, number one it’s an unsophisticated method and two clues that are set up in two spots on a three way pyramid.” I said without much emotion.
Ch 32
The atmosphere of the Mountains was in essence a retreat for serial killers. Everyone that the professor and the leader group had recruited over the years was here. The followers came from every profession of life, there were ex cops, military men and women and even teachers and professors. Hence, it was easy for the group to infiltrate organizations and different professions and bring back much needed info to the gr
oup which they called the Covenant. The organizational movement and practice was all created in the mind of Dr John Sinclair, he thought of all this managerial mayhem some twenty years ago while attending college. Why just kill for sport and blood lust but kill for the intellectual and negative spiritual side of darkness. He was a proponent of the theory of Yin and Yang, the blending of both evil and good. But to his way of thinking, evil had to be explored and utilized to the ultimate.
His little community in the Blue mountains was a functioning township with city hall, police station and sheriff that he controlled, it was somewhat more organized then some major metropolis, they paid taxes and went undercover with nobody the wiser as to their real purpose. They even had a school house for member children and a teacher that not only taught them the three R’s but also the unique murder methods of Khallie. To an outsider this was a normal American town.
It started with a small cell of students from the local university and mushroomed into what we have today a mind alternating murder functioning group that use killing as an intellectual movement.
Thursday 12:00 pm
Sinclair had left most of the new killing functions in the hands of his new followers to break them in but he desired to quench his own thirst into the blood of a new elegant female. He decided to go back to one of his favorite haunts and perform his profession to the utmost.
He established the killings at the coffee houses, the aromas of coffee and the zombie like atmosphere intrigued him. If he could kill here forever he would be in seventh heaven Everyone was immersed in what they were doing which was being hypnotized by the blinking light of the monitors on their laptops. He noticed the proprietor behind the counter a young white woman, a brunette who was perhaps the most beautiful female he ran across in a while. He walked up to the counter , flashed a phony ID and said , “ I’m with the Gas company and have some bad news for you , you seemed to have a leek and it is seeping out into the alleyway which could develop into a hazard. “
