Last Thuggie Book III: You Will Pay (3)

“They all had weird animal mask on, but the leaders voice sound very familiar.”
“Do you know where you heard his voice before?”
“I don’t want to think it but it sounded like one of your cop friends.”
I had a couple of FBI files with some their agents delivering verbal reports to the public. I bought them home for Duce to hear. There were approximately fifty recordings but I had a strong idea who it was and concentrated on six voices just to make sure he wasn’t randomly picking anyone. On the third try bingo, it was the voice of Crenshaw just as I had expected. Duce was shocked, “Damn dad, he’s FBI, if he can do that, than you can’t trust anyone.” I didn’t respond and just stared at him , my look was self explanatory , my son knew all my afflictions , it was a look of disgust. We had to play this right, how many other moles were in the FBI or for that matter in our own police department. I had to conclude that we weren’t dealing with rank amateurs they were probably planting agents for years without our knowledge perhaps as far back as the police academy growing with the knowledge of the PD and inserting their program right along with it.
I took my own advice; we started by going back at least ten years and checked everyone on the rookie’s rolls. There is a natural dropout rate in the academy, either forced or voluntary. We characterized those two but developed two whole different categories that were suspicious in nature; one was those who left under suspicious reasons and those who were still there which was a lot.
Ch 55
It was a painstaking task to look up hundreds of names of rookies and follow them through their careers of at least twenty years. At first nothing stood out that was significant are surprising about them. But only one thing that was obvious and I wasn’t the one to see it, surprising enough it was Omar who seen it right away. “ You know homie I been on the force for years and one thing I know is how to go unseen for long periods of time , but the only drawback in that type of behavior is that you won’t
move up. And I say that because out of all the people we are investigating twenty had moved up without ever being noticed.”
“So what does that all mean,” I said incredibly.
“What it means is that all of these guys move up to sergeant and lieutenant, and they are unknown entities or obscure stars in the police department.” How did it happen so easy for them? But what we did find strange is that the same officers were always around some sort of unexplained controversy, monies were missing or in some cases perps were often killed without arrest. They all were here for years, on time and hardly ever absent. We interviewed some of their partners, who said they were likable fellows that got along with everyone. But isn’t that what a deceiver would do, blend in? At any rate they were slick, to stay hidden for so many years was a sly endeavor and I could not think of any other word to convey their workings.
We had figured out their chain of command, they were broken into cells in each precinct as well as the FBI infrastructure. Each cell had approximately seven men or women and received their marching orders from outside the group managed by the thuggie leader of the entire national group. They left little fragments of info about the group that they thought no one would noticed but we had the technology provided to us from the FBI and those fragments were placed together as if it were a puzzle until we finally developed a full clear picture. They seemed to at first to have a mind of their own but it was apparent that any new orders came from outside the group. Every crime that was committed rather it was military or an individual murder was given by order first and that was their weakness. A body that could not think for itself was powerless to know what next move to make without the head, as the old saying goes “cut off the head and the body of the snake will wither and fall apart,” or something like that. What they didn’t know and was clear to me when dealing with groups like this, is that they tend to always be the sacrificial lambs. I requested to interview one of the men though internal affairs, I would let them do the interviewing while I watched though the two way mirror.
The IA inspector was one of our best at interrogation, I guess they got that way because they were on a mission to move up in the department and took a no holds bar approach to interrogations. Even with his smoothness he was no match for the interviewee, this guy gave slick a new definition as if he was trained to answer questions without withering from pressure that was applied to him. His demeanor was pleasant and jovial as he sipped his third cup of coffee without giving any meaningful Intel. He started off with a whimsical verbiage,” Inspector Duran I’ve seen you around for years what’s the scuttlebutt , bub why have you bought me down here .”
The inspector played the same game,” We’re reviewing some of the candidates that are up for review for higher offices.” The officer looked at him in disbelief for no one had ever had gone through this type of interview from IA before.
We were up to about fifty interrogations and none of it seemed to work, they all were well trained. We had no outward proof on anything but it made them prime suspects and heightened our suspicions of them. Going over record after record was revealed a chart of crimes that was channeled though a few men in the department of which were on the list that we compiled.
Things were different in the line of law enforcement, every since 911, there were special units of the FBI and other law enforcement organizations to keep a watchful eye on groups that were suspected of being a threat to national security.
We started with just the police district in Philly and Quantico, they had the same results as we did, it would seem that the cells were highly entrenched in the two locations. Our main goal was to find out what was there next move whether it is individual are military. Our best computer techs were taking their web sites apart and were discovering all of their encrypted knowledge and the only words we could get from the whole thing was the three words, ‘You Will Pay’. The ironic thing is that they had an alphabet cipher that we didn’t know that they were using and we deciphered the three words they all meant kill, kill and kill. Now in which way they were to kill we didn’t know. But to our amazement, the first word meant one kill or murder the second the same and third a mass killing.
Ch 56
It happened in a way that I knew it would occur but feared the outcome that was evident. They followed the script and performed the deeds chronologically. They started with the first kill which was an individual murder, this made it easy to follow what they were doing but the likelihood of someone dying in the process was very disturbing for me. They went back to the old standby, this time the murder wasn’t a coffee house but surprise, surprise a tea room. The establishment was the ‘Yee Ole Tea Room’, which had been in existence in Center City for about five years. The body was discovered in the alley way the same way as it was in the previous murders. He wasn’t too creative other than the venue the murder was the same as the others. The cadaver was a young White woman with dirty blonde hair, the body was dissected almost the same as the previous kills, the stomach cavity was left open and in the center was a DVD. We immediately race to the precinct and placed the recording into the DVD player.
It was black screen displayed with large font white letters scrolling across. It was a sentence that we had come across before, ‘You Will Pay’ over and over again. There were seven bulleted sentences that were underlined and hyperlinked. I took them in chorological order; it seems to make sense, if one could make sense of a monster’s mind. The sentence read, ‘An open letter to law officials of the world’. I would guess this fed into his narcissism; he was mainly dealing with the Philly Pd in reality but had to address what he is saying to the world, like the world really sat on pins and needle at his every utterances. The address began surprising enough with proselytizing of his faith, which were the thuggie historical beginnings. However he addedtheological comparisons with the Judeo Christian institution of our land. It was suppressing legal intellectual but why all the getting to know you stuff if your intent is to commit murder and mayhem, perhaps ther
e was some type of break in the ranks and this was one of its manifestations, one could only hope. The figure rambled on for what lookedlike forever but in reality was only twenty minutes. He finally ended with the statement, “You know things are exactly as they seem and I am not like any perp you have ever seen and, that’s a direct quote.”
Omar was sitting just one chair from me and gave me a smirk. “So what did I miss.” I said.
My old buddy just looked at me with a blank stare like I was young and dumb and simply said. “Those are your exact words, homeboy.”
It was my exact words but where did I hear it from and when did I say them. Omar often remembers inconsequential things such as these. “We were here one day in the morning shooting the breeze and drinking our morning Joe and remember we were talking about the case and you said those exact words, now what you should ask yourself is, who all was here when you made that statement?” I was wondering if it was a little inconsequential conversation was being picked up at the precinct; what would be the more important conversation that the perps could have picked up for years. I checked on each and every one of their expertise and it was right there in front of us , most of the officers were shooting champions on the gun course on interchangeable years with high scores but strangely enough didn’t move up to grasp a higher office. The remarks on their record were that they didn’t have the motivation to move up into any leadership position.
We had finally broken another perp, he was either scared of keeping the façade up are maybe he was finally succumbing to the whole tragic affair of being an integral part of a police unit and confliction over being an informer for the other side.
His name was Sergeant John Slaughter, as far as we could tell he was well liked by everyone in the precinct. I started the questioning very delicately and distinctly, “We’ve called you down here because you yourself have volunteered to tell us what your involvement is with the thuggie clan. Once again do you what representation from your union rep or an independent attorney before we began.”
He shook his head in the negative, so I proceeded further. “ First , I want you to tell us how long have you been affiliated with the thuggies but you don’t have to stick with some sort of script for example you can tell us from the top of your head anything that you think is relevant to our investigation , ok ? ”
He paused for a moment and then started, “I am twenty five and was 14 when I first joined the cult, they recruited us straight out of the Morris street gang which included about ten other teenagers I think what helped them with our recruitment was the former old head gang members from our click that made it for an easy conscription. At first the religious side of the cult wasn’t shown to us, we were under the impression that this was just a criminal gang that had a lot of power and desired our help because of our youth to keep the everyday function of the gang in tack. There was plenty of cash flow , women , fancy clothes and cars. It was only when we were in the depths of the cult that we were informed about the religion behind the cult, after that we were given marching orders which led to our employment into the police department.” Wow, I said to myself he was long winded and could probably go on for another hour if I didn’t raise my hand to indicate a pause for now.
I started up again this time I had a few questions of my own, “You said at the end of your statement that ‘we had been given our marching orders’, my question to you is who is the we in your group and the names of the said persons,” I said with authority.
He stared at me in unbelief as if it should be apparent who they are and said, “That shouldn’t ‘be a problem I’ll give you their names and ranks with in our group, but you know I’m kind of conflicted on one hand I have lied spied on the police department and now I am doing the same to the men who joined me in this endeavor. However, I reminded him, “That’s all well and good but you know you are looking at a considerable amount of jail time, for your own sake, tell us all what you know.”But I watched his face turn to disbelief and sadness after my statement of reality about his situation which was enough for him to further elaborate about his involvement with the thuggies. “I had a lot misgiving about the movement, especially the unforgiving killing of innocent women. The Calif seemed to delight in the killing and dismembering of the women that we caught and bought to him to sacrifice at the temples. Previously, it wasn’t a big deal because I and the rest of the crew weren’t privileged to the real going on in the group.”
“I see that you are perplexed about the whole situation, I can see it in your face. We have further contacted the DA and some high officials in the Justice department, we are willing to use your services for undercover work and let you walk on some of the major charges as long as they don’t include murder.” He seemed delighted and a noticeable a sigh of relief was exhibited on his face.
“That being said I want the name and addresses of all temples in the US, your contact number and name of those of who are your immediate superiors.
We gained all of the info and Intel of the group but what really had surprised us was the connection of some well known politicians to the thuggie group. This has happened before almost a couple of decades ago with Jim Jones cultic group, The Peoples Temple who had influence all way up to the mayor of San Francisco. I think that the politicians aren’t looking at the theology or the ideology of the group, but they are mainly looking at the number of members that they could have to be reelected to office.
The underground temples were hidden but in plain sight. Some were entombed in apartments , houses and rec centers , but the most potent places were the ones hidden in the desert areas of Mexico and Arizona. I took a trip to the city of El Paso to speak with a police Chief Meehan, the city seemed like it was on lock down even though it was the middle of the afternoon. I slowly rode up to the police station in my rented station wagon. The chief was sitting at his desk in a very expansive office which was larger than the outside office where five deputies shared one large space.
I walked in the office slowly but with a determined look that I wasn’t aware of but he was, I could tell by the look that he gave me. “Hi, l’m Detective Lomax from Philly PD.”
“I’ve been expecting you for a while now; the fellows you’ve been inquiring about have been around the city for a while.” He said.
“Have they started any trouble or done anything suspicious as of yet.”
“No as far as we can see they’ve been real gentlemen, but sense they arrived there has been a spike in unsolved strange murders , especially for our city.”
“What do you mean strange , I read that you’ve had a constant stream of murders for years before these guys even showed up,” I said.
“That’s correct, but the types of murders we’ve had were drug related, not the type of creepy shit that’s been going on now,” he said. He had a repulsive and frightened look on his face and stated further “Most of the bodies we found were decapitated with the head not being found, the body were left with different internal organs removed on each that was found.”
Ch 57
Tuesday 9:00
I was given a little desk in the corner of the tiny outside office shared by the El Paso deputies, I received a phone call from the local hospital from a Doctor Sledge, “I am a surgeon at the Municipal hospital, I have a patient who is near death and insisted on speaking with you.” I rushed down to the hospital; I didn’t know anyone in the area whether they are snitches or just regular every day people.
I spoke to the doctor first. “The patient John Carlos has been poisoned by an unknown substance that we don’t have a cure for, as far as we can calculate with his internal vital organs failing, he has only days to live.”
I didn’t really enjoy the aspect of talking to a potentially dead man , even though I’ve seen and dissected many dead bodies in the morgue , their souls had already expired but this guy was still living and I would have to listen to his painful sorrowful speak.
He raised his head up weakly as I entered the room he seemed
to recognize me immediately, “Hello Detective Lomax, don’t be surprise that I recognize you, we of the thuggie clan have put to memory your family, friends and your description, we have a full dosage on your entire life.”
I was surprise at that statement but what’s new; I’ve always been of interest to different perps that I have tracked down. “So what does all that shit have to do with you calling me down here?”
“It should be obvious, I’m dying and have info about the clan,” he retorted. Everything you want to know about them I know thoroughly, the names of the national leaders as well as the one’s in my mist. I’m dying and they did this to me and they will pay.
With the snitch we already have in place and the new found info from this guy would make major inroads in eliminating this cancer. The Police Chief was adamant that we start in his city as soon as possible, he was shook about the grotesque murders he had seen. We followed the directions to the main temple. We were accompanied by the military, SWAT and five police cruisers. It might have seemed like we over did it but I insisted on this amount of fire power since I I’ve had experience with the perps and knew how dangerous they were.
The militaristic entourage and I traveled for approximately thirty miles outside of town until we finally came upon a winding road with a sign posted at the top of the road, which boldly stated The Holistic Enclave of America, whatever the hell that meant. It was obviously a subterfuge to be recognized with some legitimacy. But we went on it seem like for miles on end on the zigzag road and finally saw nothing. It was desolate and appeared as if not a soul was there.
