He switched nipples sucking on the other one while he pinched the first one making her hips thrust up off the bed.

He sat up and allowed his hands to drift over her waist and caress her belly. His eyes looked serious as he outlined her thigh.

“Kore?” Her voice was shaky, but she needed to know what he was feeling.

“I have something to tell you, Eden. Now is probably not the best time. You’ll think I’m caught up in the moment, but I’m not. I know exactly what I’m saying.”

Desire and dread battled for her body as she looked into his eyes. What could be so important that he would stop making love to her to talk about?

“I’m ready. Tell me what’s going on.”

“When you left, when I thought I lost you forever, I realized just how much I loved you. I know I’ve said it before but it bears repeating, I love you, Eden, and I don’t ever plan to let you go.”

Tears streamed down her face at war with the huge smile she was wearing. Her body shook in both relief and desire. They had been through so much together in just a short time. It would have only made sense to her if he weren’t interested in dealing with her baggage, instead he still loved her.

“You never have to let me go. I love you, Kore. You shook up my world, knocked it out of its orbit moving it to a beautiful place that gave us a chance. I’ll always love you.”

He gave her that slow sensual smile before he leaned over and kissed her belly using his tongue to rim her belly button. Her stomach went crazy, and her body moved on the bed begging for more. He kissed his way down until he was looking at her clit. His tongue flicked at it, sending jolts of pleasure through her before he sucked it into his mouth. A high keening sound left her lips as her hands buried themselves in his hair.

“I’ve been waiting for this.” His tongue came out lapping at the folds of her pussy as she ground herself against him.

He took a finger and delved deeply into her pussy pushing in as he sucked on the folds. Her hips surged up begging for more of his touch. He took a second finger and placed it inside of her, pumping deeply into her causing her to continue to cry out. Her body was beginning to bow. His mouth went back to her clit sucking on it hard making her keening noises louder.

“Kore!” she shouted his name when her body arched off the bed.

He moved his mouth over her drinking up the nectar her body was making while she was flying high in the clouds.

She shook even as she felt herself beginning to level out. Something was different; she felt different on the inside but as far as she could tell nothing had changed.

Kore looked at her with wonder on his face as he slowly climbed her body.

“Kore?” It was her turn to look at him with a bit of fear wondering how he would take her request.

He smiled at her and waited as his hands drifted over her breast.

“Remember how you gave me your blood in the hospital, and it tied us together so that you could touch my mind whenever you wanted?”

He nodded his attention on her face as he watched her lips move.

“I want to give you my blood.” The words came out in a rush tripping over each other, and her face flushed at the suggestions, but her eyes said she knew exactly what she was doing.

“It would tie us together, Eden, forever. The mate bond would be complete.”

“I know.” There was a conviction in her voice that said she knew what she was doing and what she wanted.

She raised her wrist to him. Sharp canine teeth that she never saw before grew in his mouth. He took her wrist and held it caressing her gently.

“One last time, love. Are you sure?”

  “I’m sure.”

She looked around the room always wanting to remember this time. The covers on the bed were rumbled, and they smelled like the best kind of love and sex. The moonlight was shining through the window highlighting Kore. Yes, she was sure. He lowered his head and punctured her wrist; two beads of blood pooled up he leaned over and began sucking it in. He gave a moan like he was tasting the finest wine.

Her head was dizzy from the pleasure she didn’t know existed. Finally, his tongue came out and licked at the puncture wounds sealing them.

  “Did it work?”

“Yes love, it worked. We’re mates now.”

He poised himself over her and with a thrust of his hips entered her deeply to the hilt, loving her as their minds caressed each other.

  *~*~*~*

Eden stretched feeling Kore’s leg against her, and she smiled. The heat of his body was making her feel languid, and all she wanted to do was snuggle up with him and go back to sleep. She turned and caught the time out of the corner of her eyes. She sat up in shock—it was Christmas day.

“Kore, wake up.” She reached over and shook him holding onto his arm.

He opened one eye and looked at her. “What’s wrong, mate?” The joy in that single word echoed around the room.

She smiled at him feeling her heart burst with love. “It’s Christmas day, we have to get up.”

“I thought Christmas meant sleeping in.”

“Absolutely not. Just be glad we don’t have children yet, or we would have been up hours ago.”

“Children?” Both eyes opened wide. He could have children; it was something he never thought of before. He sat up on the bed reaching for Eden, but she had already made it out.

“First dibs on the shower.” She ran into the bathroom.

He got out of the bed and stalked her. It was time to take a shower together.

Her laughter echoed off the walls of the bedroom. The shower had been eye opening and so much fun. Now they were getting dressed so they could start making dinner and opening presents. She couldn’t wait for him to see what she got him but that would come much later.

Kore turned on the Christmas music before they entered the kitchen and he turned on the television so they could watch it when they had time to sit down.

“You’re in charge, what should I be doing?”

He gave her a list of things to take out of the fridge, and they started cleaning and cutting vegetables. The stove was preheating, and he was teaching her how to wash a turkey that they would eventually stuff with dressing.

Eden lost herself in the preparations and the cooking of dinner.

Finally, he said everything was in the oven or covered sitting on a burner. They went into the living room to catch a rerun of It’s a Wonderful Life. She laughed as they talked about the angel in the movie.

Several hours later her stomach rumbled as the smell of the food flowed through the house.

  “Let’s go check on dinner.”

He pulled the turkey out and checked the temperature. It was cooked to perfection. She waited until he turned his back and stuck her fork into the stuffing for a taste.

“Oh, this is delicious. Better than our chef used to make.”

“Thank you.” He gave her a formal bow with a big smile on his face.

“I’m ready to eat.” She sang as she walked over to the cabinet for his formal dinnerware.

There was a knock at the door that made her turn to look at him. He closed his eyes for a moment then smiled, opening the door; he let Makal in. Eden gave a wide smile when she realized they would have company for dinner.

  Chapter Twenty-one

“Makal, I’m so glad you could come.” Eden’s smile was bright as she welcomed him. “Your timing was perfect; we were just about to set the table and eat.”

Kore was standing in front of the closed door staring at it.

“I didn’t come alone. I was hoping you wouldn’t mind a couple of more mouths to feed.”

A knock sounded at the door; Kore opened it before the person on the other side could knock again. He stood back as three other males walked into the house.

Eden looked at each of them and then Kore and Makal. They were brothers there was no missing the family resemblance.

“Mate, I would like to introduce you to my ot
her brothers.”

Her lips curled up into a happy smile. He was making it clear to his brothers who she was to him from the beginning.

“This is Kace, Zander, and Blaze.”

They each turned to say hello to her. They gave her a deep bow and then each handed her a present. She received a bottle of fine wine, rolls that she later found out were homemade and delicious, and a small charm from Kace.

“You could call the charm a Christmas present,” he told her as he followed her into the kitchen. “Except it’s not. The charm will help to protect you from Ha’cho; he is still after you.”

  “Do you know why?”

  “I do.”

She looked at him and waited. It was so weird that each brother had green eyes; they varied in shade but not color.

“Ask me that again at the end of the night. If you don’t know the answer by then, I’ll tell you.”

She nodded. This was her first Christmas with Kore and his family; she wasn’t going to ruin it.

“We need to set the table.”

“I got it.” Zander started pulling out plates while Blaze got out the silverware.

The brothers had obviously been here many times before. She smiled as she watched them work together although she noticed they were talking to her and not really to each other.

“Hello?” She answered her phone on its first ring.

“Eden, I was just calling to check on you. I wanted to make sure you’re all right in that big house by yourself.”

“I’m fine, Melissa. I’m not at the estate right now. How’s your dinner going?”

“Not as bad as I anticipated. Mom is acting sweet but reserved. Dad is upset, but what’s new? Where are you?”

“I’ll explain it later, but I met someone too and everything is going to be okay.”

“Can’t wait to hear this. I got to go. Dad just picked up a big knife. I hope it’s to carve the turkey.”

She hung up laughing. Everyone was looking at her.

“What? Something wrong?” They were staring at her like they had never seen a female before.

“Your glowing, mate.” Kore walked over to her and took her into his arms kissing her. “More after the company is gone.”

She sat at the table that was overflowing with food and male angels and she thanked God for the gift he had given her.

There was another knock at the door. The males looked at each other before Kore got up to answer it. Before him stood Talon.

“Nice to see you, Kore.” He walked into the house without waiting to be invited. He said hello to the brothers and turned to face Eden.

“It’s been a while, but things seem to be going well for you.”

“Why do you always feel like a dream?”

He just gave her a smile. “I was in that car with you and at breakfast not too long ago. Stand up, female angel.”

She stood, and he came to her moving her hair out of the way exposing her left ear. “You’ll be missing a few gifts, and since it is

Christmas, I thought I’d give them to you. He took out a beautiful piece that was meant to curl around the back of the ear; it had a hanging jewel that looked like the one on her wrist. He placed it on her, and it disappeared into her skin.

“No one, not even Ha’cho, will be able to touch that.” He turned around and sat at a place setting that wasn’t there a minute ago.

She stared at Kore who shrugged his shoulders not knowing what to make of it.

  “What brings you here, Talon?”

“Kace, you of all males should know. I want turkey of course.” His lips pulled into a smile making his whole body shimmer for a moment.

Eden said grace and then Kore carved the turkey. They ate and slowly the males began to talk to each other. She stayed silent. It was enough to enjoy seeing the brothers reconnect after what Kore had told her was years of separation.

When they came home from the hospital, he told her it was the first time he’d seen Makal in over fifty years.

“Kore explained to me that it had been a long time since you’ve seen each other but I still don’t understand why.”

“Shifters begin to go rogue after so many centuries without a mate,” Talon informed her. “It is the job of the brother to put down the one who has gone rogue. That’s harder to do when you are in constant communication. Since there has not even been a hint of a female angel in centuries, there was an unspoken agreement that they would have to kill each other eventually, and I would have the honor of killing the last angel.”

  “The last angel?”

“There are only five angel shifters left in this world.”

She nodded her head but sadness overcame her for a family that was holding out knowing there was no hope.

They finished dinner and stood to start clearing off the table when Eden bent over, a cry of despair coming from her lips.

Kore tried to run to her, but Talon stopped him.

“Don’t touch her, move back Makal. She has to do this on her own.”

She dropped to her knees, pain tearing through her system. She’d never felt anything like this before; her body felt like it was being torn asunder. She reached for Kore, but he wasn’t there. Why? She whimpered and curled into a ball. She was dying, after all she had gone through.

Her world went black and then she heard Ha’cho’s laughter as he reached out for her. He cursed and pulled his hand back; it was red and raw.

“I’ll kill you all,” he spit out before he disappeared.

Blinding white light covered her body, warming her up, and making it impossible for her to see. Her body lifted, floating over the floor before she felt the cold air slide over her face, she gave a brief shudder as her body reacted to the air while wondering how she ended up outside. Her arms stretched wide, and she changed forms seamlessly until there were wings beating on her back.

Kore joined her watching her in amazement and joy.

“You’re an angel, mate. Don’t go too far up; you still don’t know how to use those wings.”

His brothers joined them, each in angel form. The brightness of their angelic presence illuminated the night. Kore flew to her and took her into his arms.

“Kore,” Talon spoke, “everyone deserves a second chance, including you. The two of you have given hope to your brothers—the hope that one day they may find their mate.

Eden looked up at the sky and spoke a soft prayer of thanks for all that had happened to them.

“I always knew Christmas was special and you made me believe in Christmas Miracles.”

Kore leaned down and kissed her as he took her higher into the atmosphere. The brothers sang. The first angel song since the females had all perished.

She looked up at Kore in wonder; an unseen choir joined in the song and their voices echoed across the sky. Snow began to gently fall, and Eden snuggled deeper into Kore’s wings, a song of thanks in her heart.
