He would love nothing more than to feed her, but he wasn’t giving in. She was playing with him, trying to wrap him all around her pretty little finger. He turned and walked back to the stove. When he looked back to Kayla, she was slowly licking her sticky index finger that had maple syrup dripping down. Clanging the pan back onto the stove, he turned the fire off, and her eyes widened when he strode over to her with determined steps.

Without further notice, he pulled her out of her chair and sat her down on his oak kitchen table. She yelped at his rough handling. He grabbed her plate and slid it next to her thigh. Her legs dangled down the tabletop between his legs as he sat down in her chair.

  “Open up, buttercup.”

He pierced a piece of pancake with a fork, and when he brought it up to her waiting mouth, droplets of syrup coated her naked thigh. He loved that she was only wearing his white T-shirt and nothing else. He could see the movement of her heavy breasts underneath when she shifted closer to grab the bite. Her luscious lips enclosed the fork, and she looked him right in his eyes. It was as if a bolt of lightning went straight to his dick.

“Mmm, now these are quite special, I must say,” she said as she winked at him, her tongue tracing her upper lip.

With a groan, Duncan forked another piece of pancake for her to take. His eyes were drawn to her exposed throat as she swallowed. They traveled lower, and he could see her hard nipples saluting him through his T-shirt. Fuck, that was hot.

Sliding his chair back, he bent forward and licked the drops of syrup from her thigh. He could smell her arousal as he licked even higher. Her bare lips peeped from under the hem of his shirt. His tongue journeyed up her inner thigh until he finally grabbed her hips and scooted her closer to the edge of the table.

  “Oh, Dunc....”

Reaching behind her, he swept the plates and cutlery to the ground as he licked higher and higher. With his open palm, he pressed softly against her chest, gently nudging her upper body until she lowered her back to the kitchen table. His shirt rose farther up, exposing her sex to him. He grabbed her ankles and put them over his shoulders. Kayla panted and squirmed in anticipation of what he was about to do to her.

Nudging her with his nose, he smelled her. “So fuckin’ good.” His tongue rubbed her slit up and down with long licks, tasting her. She was so wet for him. He stuck his middle finger inside of her, curling it while he lapped at her.

  “Dunc... yes... oh so good.”

When he sucked at her clit, she shot up at his first nibble. He placed his hand on her belly, holding her flat on the table.

As he nibbled, licked, and flicked her clit, she thrashed her head from side to side. “Yesss. Ohh, that’s it... Duncannnn.”

She was getting more vocal, but he didn’t care. He loved her sounds. She threw one arm over her eyes, and the other was grasping the end of the table, right over her head. Craving her screams of pleasure, Duncan stood from his chair and pulled out the condom from his back pocket.

He thought about having his way with Kayla again the minute they got out of bed this morning, and he was glad he had the foresight to be prepared. After undoing the buttons from his jeans, he pulled the condom on and flicked his dick several times at her entrance, making his sheathed tip wet with her cream, and then he thrust inside.

“Oh yes, oh yes, Duncan.” Kayla’s ankles were still near Duncan’s ears, her calves leaning against his shoulders. She was so tight, he knew he wouldn’t last long. “Take me... yes, harder.”

He could definitely go harder. He loved to pound hard during sex, and he loved that she wasn’t shy about asking for what she needed. She wanted it just as bad as he did, and it made him crazy with lust for her.

“Take it, Kayla. That’s it.” He plunged so deep that he bottomed out. His eyes were drawn to the sight of him pushing in and pulling out of her. The moment he noticed her breasts bouncing up and down under his shirt, he briskly took the hem and pulled it up, exposing her. He marveled at this new sight of her.

“Oh, Dunc... I’m coming. I’m coming.”

He let her ankles go from his shoulders so he could bend over her and then kissed her fiercely. She kissed back as if she needed his lips more than she needed to breathe. Her cheeks were rosy, and there were little droplets of sweat on her forehead. Her eyes were closed, and her mouth formed an O as he kept thrusting hard and rubbed her clit with his thumb. Duncan couldn’t take his eyes from her face. A moan tore from his throat as her channel milked him as she came.

Unable to hold back any longer, he was aware of the exact moment the pleasure became more than he could stand. The burst of relief from the pressure that was building inside was exhilarating. When he finally broke free from his haze, he realized the doorbell was ringing.

  “Go away!”

Kayla giggled against his neck at his outburst.

“I mean it, Kayla. I’m not opening, for nobody.” He was dead serious. Who would call on him at this ungodly hour? It was a Saturday morning, and he had planned on playing with Kayla all day, if she’d let him. He groaned when someone tapped on his window next to the front door.

  “Shouldn’t we get up, Duncan?”

Kayla was still lying on the kitchen table with Duncan sprawled over her between her legs. She caressed his bare back, and he relished her affection so much that he was shivering at her touch.

“No. We don’t move at all. Tell me you want to sleep here tonight. We’ll do this all day long. We’ll fuck and sleep here all day, and then we can even have pancakes for dinner.” She giggled more, which caused him to slide out of her. Duncan grunted at the loss of her warmth and removed the condom, placing it in a napkin from the table. Then he tucked it in the back pocket of his jeans that clung to his hips.

“I’m running to the bathroom. I’ll be right back.” She tried to slide down the tabletop, but Duncan kept his place in front of her, putting both of his hands next to her thighs on the table, caging her in.

She looked beautifully fucked, her long hair a mess, all tangled, and her naked lower body smeared with maple syrup. He could see his love bites on her neck, and she had a lazy smile on her face. He stared into her eyes. “I’m not letting you go from this table before you give me the password for free passage.”

Yes, he knew he was thirty-one years old, and yes, he knew he acted more like a thirteen-year-old boy who was teasing the girl he crushed on, but he didn’t care. He was feeling all playful and knew he hadn’t been this carefree and had this much fun in a long time.

“Umm, Dunc? I need to give you some sort of password before you let me off this table? That’s weird but also very easy. It’s wildflower.” Kayla smirked at him, and he loved the fact that she played along.

“Dunc, are you there? Open up, bro.”

His brother Ronan shouted from behind Duncan’s front door, but not for long. Knowing Ronan, he would let himself in at any minute. Kayla looked over Duncan’s shoulder as he was caging her in, but he knew she couldn’t see anyone standing there yet.

“That’s right. Didn’t you play this game when you were a kid? Wildflower isn’t it.” Duncan knew he was testing her patience; she wanted to flee to the bathroom before his brother saw her in this state. He loved teasing her, trying to get the sassy Kayla out to play with him.

“Duncan Mills, if you don’t step aside right now, I swear to you, you’ll be coughing up maple syrup real soon.”

He smirked, as he knew she would indeed kick him in his balls if he didn’t move real soon, but he was quick on his feet, and he figured he could intercept her easily before—

“Aaargh... shit!” A ferocious pain stung his nuts, and he regretted that he hadn’t taken the time to tug his dick back into his jeans. He gasped for air. “Fuckin’ hell?”

“There’s your password. Now you know where to stick it.”

She slid gracefully from the tabletop, swatted his T-shirt down, and exited the kitchen with her hips swaying. Before going around the corner, she looked over her should
er at him with a devious smirk. Mmm, she still looked hot as fuck, even when she’d kneed him in the balls. He was a goner, and he knew it.

“Soo, Dunc, I wanted to say she has you by the balls, but I guess you’re the one holding them now.”

Using his key, Ronan had let himself in while Duncan was busy riling Kayla. He had the word “pancakes” in mind, but she really wanted out of the kitchen before they got an audience, and she’d made damn sure of that, ha!

“This better be good,” Duncan grumbled.

“Didn’t you read the group text from Don? We’re meeting here. He found something in Kayla’s case and said it was important.”

Fuck, he hadn’t checked his phone since last night; he was too busy enjoying himself with Kayla all night and all morning.

“No, man. Let me go change. I’ll be back. There’s some fresh coffee if you want.”

“Is it safe to be sitting at this table? I don’t know, Dunc. If I’m getting all sticky, I must wonder if it’s from the syrup or from something else....” The smirking asshole had to go there. Just his luck that it had to be Ronan to come in first; he was never living this one down.

“Fuck you. Just take your coffee to the living room.”

Ronan smirked and walked around the cutlery and plate on the ground in search of the coffee pot on the kitchen counter. “I have to say, man, the way you serve breakfast is not at all what I had expected from you. I’m scared to ask for a piece of toast. Not sure if you’ll jump me.” Ronan laughed at his own joke, the idiot.

Standing under the spray and humming, she thought of what she and Duncan had declared to each other last night. Would Duncan be her last? Would she be his last? She would take the leap of faith with Duncan. He could be cocky, arrogant, and a big child even, but she knew by now that he was also honest and loyal to a fault. If he didn’t mean it, he wouldn’t have said it last night.

Kayla chuckled. Perhaps “last night” was the password he wanted? He was always so playful, testing her, and he sure loved to get a rise out of her. His eyes sparkled with joy when she’d said that he would be coughing up syrup if he didn’t let her go. Duncan now knew that she had some moves. Her dad and brothers all made sure she and her sisters could defend themselves.

Kayla shivered at the thought that she had to defend herself against Tom about two months ago. Look how well that went, she mocked. Frozen, she had acted like his punching bag, lying there on the ground. She shook her head to rid herself of the negative thoughts.

She turned the shower off and stepped out of the shower stall. Picking up a towel from a neatly folded pile in the cabinet, she dried her body and hair before brushing her teeth with a new toothbrush she found under the sink. She walked into the bedroom, figuring Duncan must’ve come in when she was under the shower.

Her clothes were lying on the dresser with a man’s sweatpants and black hoodie next to them. She picked up the hoodie and closed her eyes as she pressed the fabric against her face. His smell washed over her senses—intoxicating and calming in one. She tipped her head to face the ceiling, wishing this feeling would never stop. Deep down inside, she knew her heart was already his.

When she was fully dressed in Duncan’s clothes, even putting on a pair of his big fluffy socks, she entered the living room. She immediately recognized Caitlin sitting on the sofa by her long curly dark brown hair. It was pulled tight in a ponytail, but the unruly waves still cascaded down her back as if they had a mind of their own. Caitlin had dark eyebrows, and her eyes were an intense shade of light blue. When she saw Kayla entering the room, she stood up to give her a big hug.

“I’m so sorry for all that happened to you. I really wish that I’d known sooner so I could have been a better friend to you and helped you.”

“I’m sorry, Caitlin, but I was so out of it for the first weeks of recovering. I was not thinking straight.”

“It’s okay. We’re going to help you and find out what he’s been up to, okay?”

Kayla nodded and glanced around the room. Her eyes met with a younger-looking Caitlin who was standing near the fireplace, smiling at her. “Hi, I’m Bree. I’m Caitlin’s sister and a friend of Dec. He was with me when he got the text, so I drove him here. I hope you don’t mind? I don’t know what’s been going on, but I know that you are in the best of hands here. If there is anything that I can do, please let me know.”

Although Kayla would never ask for help from a stranger, she really appreciated the vibe Bree gave off. She was a beautiful woman, and she seemed to be so kind, just like her sister. Kayla nodded and looked over at the couch were Ronan and Declan sat.

She could see the resemblances between the Mills twins even better in the daylight. Being fraternal twins, Declan and Ronan looked pretty alike, but they also resembled the rest of the brothers. They were definitely not identical twins.

Declan resembled Donovan more with his gray eyes and his raven-black hair that was a tad wavy on top. Ronan took after Duncan with his head closely shaved, and he looked like a younger version of him with his green eyes and his proud stance. Only he looked cockier and more arrogant, if that was even possible.

“Good to see you again, Kayla. Sorry that you missed my fireball shots yesterday.” Ronan smirked.

“I’m not.” Kayla chuckled. “I think getting up was a lot less hard by not taking those shots with you.”

“I saw Duncan had no trouble waking up hard this morning,” he said, winking at Kayla.

She felt her cheeks warming at his stupid joke and she was getting annoyed with him. What a jerk.

“Keep that sass up and you might get a kick to the junk too.”

Ronan wasn’t fazed one bit by her smart retort. He simply sniggered and shrugged a shoulder.

“Don’t worry, wildflower, Ronan is an ass with everyone. The only one that can make him sing a lower tune is Fianna.” Kayla glanced at Duncan questioningly, then looked over his shoulder as Ronan slammed the front door after himself while grumbling, “Fuck you,” over his shoulder.

“Dunc, you know how he gets when you even mention her name,” Declan said, sticking up for his twin.

“Ugh, he needs to get over himself. Our sister sure did.” Bree shrugged.

“He needs to know that he can’t disrespect Kayla. I’m not having it. Now, tell me what’s going on,” Duncan said, closing the discussion.

Suddenly Bree stood from her chair next to the fireplace and said, “And that’s my cue. See you later, Dec?”

“I’ll take a ride back with Cait, but thanks,” Declan said.

Kayla thought she saw Bree wince at the mention of “Cait,” but Bree slapped on a smile and nodded. “Okay. Later, Caitlin. Kayla, nice meeting you.”

Caitlin put her hand on Bree’s shoulder. “Text me when you get there, and call me if you need anything, okay?”

  Bree smiled softly and nodded.

“What’s up?” Declan said, stalking across the room and planting himself in front of Bree. “Where are you going?”

Bree’s smile fell from her face at Declan’s questions and she bristled. “I’m going out on a lunch date.”

Caitlin silently moved to the side to let Declan and Bree talk.

  “A date? Who’s the guy?”

Bree sighed at his words and rolled her eyes. “You know, Dec, for someone who says he’s not interested, you sure sound interested in my date.” She pushed Declan aside as she strode toward the front door.

Declan’s eyes went over Bree’s back and down to her perky butt when she passed him by. He didn’t take them off her until she’d closed the door behind her. Kayla knew there had to be a story there, as the attraction was off the charts between them, but Bree was going on a date with someone else? Huh.

“Did you tell her that you’re not interested? Really, Dec? What the hell is wrong with you?” Duncan growled at his younger brother, and Kayla was proud of him.

She had just met them, and even she could feel the push and pull between Declan and Bree. They c
ouldn’t take their eyes off each other when they thought the other wasn’t looking. How could he say he wasn’t interested?

“Never mind. We have other things to discuss.” Declan wasn’t having it. He was not open for this talk, and he sat down on the sofa again.

“Dec, you know she’s only going out on a date because she’s hurting right now.” Caitlin sat next to him, speaking softly, but the whole room was listening in.

Hanging his head, Declan sighed. “I don’t want to talk about it. You’re her sister, Cait. Please, let it go.”

The doorbell rang, and Duncan walked across the room to answer the door. “Calum, good to see you. Come in.”

Kayla saw her friend Caitlin instantly sitting up straight, her piercing light blue eyes drawn to Calum. Kayla’s brother walked into the room in his black T-shirt and dark blue jeans. Calum gave Kayla a big bear hug and a kiss on her forehead, then shook Donovan’s and Declan’s hands.

“You owe me twenty bucks, Declan.”

Declan smiled at Calum, but his smile didn’t reach his eyes as he said, “Yeah, that’s right. Umm, rain check tonight?” Calum must have been enjoying himself playing pool with Duncan’s brothers at Lucky last night.

As he answered Declan, Calum looked over at Caitlin. “Yeah....”

Caitlin extended her hand to Calum, but he didn’t take it at first. He just stood staring at her.

Declan cleared his throat. “Calum, this is Caitlin. She’s my partner.”

That seemed to take Calum out of his daze, and he swiftly shook her hand.

“In crime,” Caitlin said, smiling at Calum, who seemed puzzled.

“Sorry?” Calum asked, stepping away from her.

“Only partners on duty. We’re not....” Caitlin’s words trailed off.

“Oh, right. So you’re a cop too?”

Caitlin nodded as she crossed her jean-clad legs. Calum took that as his cue to step even farther away from her. He took a seat in the chair Bree just vacated.

“Please sit down, Kayla. I’ve got some bad news, I’m afraid,” Donovan said, taking the lead in the conversation.
