“You know who I am?” I asked.

He nodded, and his eyes darted to the right. A gunshot suddenly came from just behind me, and in my peripheral, I saw the other man hit the ground, weapon in hand. “Stupid fuck,” Dax muttered.

  “Drop it,” I demanded.

Joker hesitated, but when I cocked my pistol, he pulled a gun out of the waistband of his pants that had been hidden beneath a flannel shirt. He dropped it, and I canted my head to the side in silent command. He reluctantly kicked it to the side, out of his reach.

“Please don’t kill me,” Joker begged. Like the little bitch he was.

I laughed. “Yeah, nothing you say to me is gonna save your life.” The laughter died away quickly and was replaced by the volcano of rage bubbling inside me. “You tried to kill my old lady, motherfucker. I should make you bleed for each minute she feared for her life. But I can be reasonable.” Scout scoffed, and I used my free hand to flip him the bird over my shoulder. “If you tell me where you found out about the contract, I’ll make it a bullet between the eyes. Otherwise—and I’m rooting for this option—I’m taking you to a special room where you’ll do a lot of screaming before you tell me what I want to know anyway.”

Joker looked around frantically, but no one was here to help him. They either hadn’t noticed or weren’t suicidal enough to step between a Silver Saint and his target—which was more likely.

“Who would be stupid enough to hire this little shit for a hit?” Dax mused incredulously when Joker trembled. Actually fucking trembled. It was a valid question.

  “I’m a good marksman.”

“If that were true,” Scout snarled, “you woulda hit at least someone today.”

Joker raised his chin and defended himself in a whiny voice. “I’ve completed dozens of jobs. Your compound is big, and I couldn’t get close enough with the gun I brought.”

It dawned on me then. “You like a perch. Out of the action. Because you’re a fucking coward.”

Joker winced but didn’t agree with or dispute my assumption. Didn’t matter, I was done with this bullshit. “The job. How’d you get it?”

He looked at my gun and back to my face, then gazed behind me, presumably taking in the three men I had with me. When his eyes returned to my face, he looked resigned. He rattled off the information for a site on the dark web. The second he stopped talking, he hit the ground with a bullet hole right between the eyes. Just as my girl would’ve done.

We stood there in silence for a couple of heartbeats before Dax broke it, and interjected, “I’d have taken him to the shed. Just saying…”

I rolled my eyes and pivoted on my heel. “Let’s get the fuck out of here and back to our old ladies,” I growled.

Dax sighed and shook his head. If I’d had enough room to care about anything but Harlowe at that moment, I might have felt bad. Out of all of us, Dax was the “romantic,” if you could even use that word to describe a tough-as-shit biker. He wanted a family, but he’d just turned forty, and lately, it seemed as though he was giving up.

Mac stepped to the side and looked around me, then lifted his chin in acknowledgment of something. I glanced back to see the county sheriff return the gesture, then look pointedly at the two dead bodies.

Dax and Scout huffed in annoyance, but they each walked over and hefted one of the bodies over their shoulders. We took them to the back of the building, dug the slugs out of them, then stuffed them in metal trash cans. I doused the containers with the gasoline I’d brought, knowing we’d be disposing of at least one body. With a nod, Mac handed me a matchbook, then started off toward his bike.

This shitty excuse for a human had come after what was mine. It was my right to send the asshole straight to hell. I lit a match and tossed it into one can, not even feeling the heat from the small explosion it caused. I did the same to the other one, then threw in the box, spun on my heel, and marched back to my ride.

We saddled up and took off toward our compound. When we arrived back home, it had been well over an hour since I’d talked to Huntley. I’d decided to make him wait until I wasn’t so keyed up from the situation. This conversation was only gonna go one way, but that didn’t mean I had to be a complete bastard about it. Which I probably would have been if the ride hadn’t given me time to calm down. With every mile that brought me closer to Harlowe, I felt more and more at ease. Still, I needed to have her in my arms to reassure myself that she was fine.

After we parked our bikes in the garage, I got Scout’s attention and held up my phone. He nodded. “I’ll let her know.”

I dialed the number Huntley had given me for emergencies only.

“What the fuck, Nash? What happened to twenty minutes?”

“Calm the hell down,” I snapped. “I wasn’t gonna call you while I was riding, and I needed to get back to my woman.”

Huntley sighed. “I assume you took care of things on your end?”

  I grunted in response.

“Now, are you going to tell me who the hell you are?”

“Lincoln Nash. Thirty-eight. One daughter. No ex. Silver Saints treasurer. But all you really need to know is that I’m the man whose world revolves around Harlowe. Doesn’t matter who I was before her. What matters is that I will spend every day of the rest of my life making sure she is safe and happy.”

It was silent for so long that I almost checked to see if I’d dropped the call. But then he spoke. “Okay.”

  “Okay?” I echoed in confusion.

“Yeah. I need to talk to my sister and make sure she’s on the same page, but as long as you treat her like she deserves, then...okay.”

“She’s gonna be busy tonight, but I’ll have her call you tomorrow. Morn—night...probably.”

Huntley started to yell something, probably pissed off at my clear insinuation that I was about to fuck his sister for twenty-four hours straight. I hung up and hurried into the house to get my girl.

  Harlowe

I felt as though I was hanging on a razor’s edge when Mac and Scout came to the basement to grab Bridget, Molly, and Cat, but there was no sign of Link. After giving his woman a tight hug and deep kiss, Scout turned to me. “Wipe that scared look of your face, pinkie. Link shouldn’t be too far behind me. He had to make a quick call to fill your brother in on what happened. I’m sure it won’t take long since he wants to be with you a fuck of a lot more than he wants to talk to Huntley.”

My legs almost went out from under me at the confirmation that Link was okay. He hadn’t been gone long, but I’d spent most of the time picturing all the things that could go wrong. My reaction to Link being in danger had driven home exactly how much he had come to mean to me. There was no doubt about it; I’d fallen hard and fast for my sexy biker. Needing some privacy to pull myself together, I flashed a quick smile at everyone and said, “I’m going to head up to Link’s room. Let him know where to find me when he’s done being interrogated by my brother?”

Scout chuckled and nodded. “Will do.”

My brother must not have been as hard on him as I expected because I only made it to the top of the stairs and through the door before Link swept me off my feet and tossed me over his shoulder. “Where do you think you’re off to, angel?”

He swatted at my butt, and I gasped out my answer. “Your room.”

“Our room,” he corrected, rubbing his palm over the spot where the sting from his swat was easing.

He couldn’t see my grin, but that didn’t mean my smile was any less blinding. I loved how there was no game playing with Link. I was his, and he wanted everyone—including me—to know it. “How about we go to our room?”

“Good call,” he agreed, moving quickly in that direction without bothering to set me on my feet. When we made it through the door, he kicked it shut before tossing me on the mattress. After taking off his boots, he followed me down and captured my lips in a deep kiss. Our tongues tangled until I was breathless and trembling in need. Before we both lost the a
bility to think about anything other than sex, I pushed at his chest. “What’s wrong, angel?”

  “You skipped a step.”

His head jerked back, and his brow wrinkled in confusion. “I haven’t gotten far enough to skip any steps, not that I ever would. It’d be a damn shame to miss an inch of your perfect body when I have you under me.”

I shivered at the desire shining in his blue eyes, but I shoved my need for him down because I needed some information first. “I’m assuming everything went okay since you guys all came back in one piece?”

“Yeah, we ran down the guy who accepted the contract on you. Figured since you weren’t there to do it yourself, the least I could do was put a bullet in his skull the same way you would’ve,” he answered as he tugged my shirt over my head. Then he did the same with his, and the sight of his bare chest distracted me a bit from the fact that he’d just admitted to killing someone for me. I wasn’t overly bothered by the fact that the guy was dead. Not when he would’ve done his best to make sure I was the one who ended up in the ground if he’d lived. “He was part of an MC that’s been a pain in our ass lately, but Mac made sure they’ll have too many problems of their own to deal with to bother with us anytime soon.”

I felt a little better about the whole mess knowing the guy he’d killed hadn’t just caused trouble for me. “What if the guys after my brother hire someone else?”

Link shook his head while he got both of us out of our pants. “Your brother took care of shit on his end, so there’s nobody left who wants you dead.”

“Really?” I stared up at him, my eyes filling with tears as a huge weight lifted off me—metaphorically speaking since his heavy body was still on top of mine.

“Yeah, angel. You’re safe now,” he reassured me, brushing his lips over mine in a gentle caress.

“I guess that means I don’t have to stay at the clubhouse anymore,” I murmured softly, wondering what this meant for our relationship.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Link growled, grinding his hips into my core and pinning me to the mattress. “You’re staying here with me forever.”

I twined my arms around his neck. “Our room is cool and all, but I’m not sure I want to live here forever.”

His lips curved up in a sexy smirk. “Then I guess it’s a good thing I can take you to our house now that you’re safe.”

“Our house, huh?” I asked, grinning back at him.

He kissed me again and whispered against my lips, “What’s mine is yours, angel.”

I slid my hand between our bodies and wrapped my fingers around his hard length. “Then give me my dick.”

“Anywhere and anytime you want it,” he promised, his hand going around my back to undo the clasp on my bra as I tugged down his boxer briefs.

“I want to be on top.” I wrapped my legs around his waist when we were both completely naked. “You just killed a man for me, babe. Let me show you my gratitude properly.”

His hands clenched my hips as he rocked against me. “You never have to thank me for keeping you safe, my angel. It’s my fucking honor.”

“Then let me show you my love,” I whispered, rubbing my palm against the scruff on his cheek while I stretched my neck up to kiss him.

Link quickly took over the kiss, devouring me before he lifted his head again and asked, “You telling me you love me, angel?”

I should’ve been afraid to say those three little words this early, but I had zero doubts about my feelings. “Yeah.”

“Then fuck yeah, you can be on top,” he offered as he rolled us over so I was straddling him.

Considering all the things he’d said and done since we met, I was pretty sure Link felt the same. But I wanted to hear the words, too. “Is that all you’ve got to say?”

His blue orbs burned into mine as he cupped my face. “I love you, Harlowe. And I’ll never give you a reason to doubt it.”

His words were exactly what I needed to give me the confidence to lift and position his dick at my entrance. Link wrapped his hands around my waist and held me in place. “Not so fast, angel. I need to make sure you’re ready for me first.”

I glided my pussy down his hard length so he could feel how wet I was. “I’m beyond ready.”

“Then take what you want,” he urged, shifting his hips to notch the crown of his cock at my core.

I slowly lowered myself until I took all of him and held still to adjust to his invasion. “You’re so deep like this.”

One of his hands went between my legs, his finger finding my clit to circle it. “Ride me, angel.”

Even though I was on top, he guided me as his hips jerked up to meet me each time I came down. It didn’t take long before I panted, “I’m so close.”

“Fuck yeah,” he muttered, this thumb flicking my clit until my pussy clamped hard around him. My head flew back, but Link wrapped my hair in his fist, dragging my head forward as he growled, “Want your eyes, angel.”

His blue orbs anchored me as I shattered. I bucked up and down, my breasts bouncing while I rode him through my orgasm. When I started to come back down, he drove me up again. Hard and fast. He wound his arm around my back and ground me down as his hips bucked up. When I flew apart again, he came with me. His cock jerked inside me, his hot come splashing against my walls, and my whole body shivered. “That’s it, angel. Milk every last drop out of me.”

My orgasm felt as though it lasted forever, and I was completely spent when I finally collapsed against his chest. While I was still trying to catch my breath, Link stretched out an arm to grab something from the drawer of the bedside table. My head turned to look down at my hand when he slid something onto my finger. “I love seeing my property patch on your back, but it isn’t enough. I want my rings on your finger and my baby in your belly, too.”

I stared down at the sparkling diamond and smiled. “You better come up with a good story to tell our kids when they want to know how you asked me to marry you.”

“It wasn't a question, angel,” he pointed out with a grin. “You’re going to be my wife.”

I had a feeling our kids wouldn’t be surprised their dad had told me I was going to marry him instead of asking—but I still wasn’t going to tell them he’d done it naked in bed.

“It’s time to pay up, babe.”

I raised my head at the sound of Harlowe’s voice and took off my glasses so I could take in the sexy-as-fuck sight in front of me. I didn’t know what she thought I owed her, but when she was walking around with my cut and her baby bump, I couldn’t deny her anything. Although that was true all the time unless it was about her safety.

I held out my hand, and she sauntered into my office and around my desk, falling easily into my lap. “Pay for what, angel?” I murmured as I buried my face in her hair and rested my palm over our kid.

“You owe me for hitting the target, remember? And honestly, I think it should be double considering how many ways you’ve put your brand on me.”

I grinned, thinking about how any fucker who looked at my girl would know she was taken by her vest, the ring on her finger, and the baby in her belly. If she would let me, I’d get my name tattooed in a very visible place on her body, too.

“Double, huh?” I pulled back and smiled at how damn cute she was with a little pout on her pretty lips. “Sounds fair.”

A bright smile stretched across her face. “I get to pick out two tattoos for you?” She rubbed her hands together in anticipation, making me laugh. The movement caused her to bounce a little in my lap, and her tits—which had grown with her pregnancy—jiggled, distracting me. I licked my lips when I noticed her nipples hardening and cursed the open door to my office. It was the only reason she wasn’t currently spread across my desk with my mouth on her.

“I’m thinking a unicorn on your butt and a butterfly—” That got my attention real fast, and I swatted her ripe little ass.

“That wasn’t the deal, angel. I
promised to get some ink to represent you, but you don’t get to pick it out.”

  “But—”

“No.” My tone was final, but I softened it by placing a quick kiss on her nose. “Now, be a good girl and go shut my office door.”

“Why?” she asked sassily. She knew exactly why. I’d had her for lunch on this desk many times.

I slipped my hand under her skirt and cupped her sex over her damp underwear. “’Cause we both know you’re needy as fuck from those pregnancy hormones, and I’m hard as a rock just thinking about eating your juicy pussy.” I scooted her off my lap and gave her another swat on the ass. “Then maybe I’ll let you help choose my tattoo.”

  * * *

“I can’t believe you went without me, you big jerk!” Harlowe yelled when I walked into our room at the clubhouse. I sighed. Cat must have brought her a snack and ran her mouth. I needed to have a talk with Scout about keeping his woman in line.

Harlowe had fallen into an exhausted, boneless heap after I’d made her come four times. I’d barely lifted her into my arms before she fell asleep. The pregnancy was leaving her exhausted, and she took a lot of naps, so it wasn’t unusual for her to crash in our room at the clubhouse rather than go home.

My plan had always been to surprise her with the design of my new ink, so even though I knew she’d be pissed, I decided to take advantage of her sleepy state and go have it done. It would take several sessions to complete with shading and color, but my guy had finished the basic drawing in a few hours.

“Calm down, angel. You’ll make yourself sick if you get worked up,” I placated in a soothing tone as I shut the door behind me. Her morning sickness wasn’t too bad unless she let herself get overly tired or agitated.

She growled adorably and stomped over to stand in front of me. “I won,” she snapped.
