The Patriot Bride

Page 22

by Woodhouse, Kimberley;

  The women who were involved in the Patriot movement truly did accomplish the tasks listed in the book (producing over 40,000 skeins of yarn and weaving 20,522 yards of cloth). They also took care of soldiers, helped the wounded, sent messages, and much more. It’s fascinating to me to see how many were involved.

  Fascinating books, articles, and other resources show how spies were used to aid in the war efforts. While Matthew and Faith are purely fictitious characters, their activities are based on true accounts. The tunnel in the secretary’s home, however, was purely from my imagination.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

  I could never write enough thank-you notes to the people in my life who make this all possible.

  First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior. Writing is a ministry for me, and as much as I would love to impact millions, if my books touch just one life, I am content with that and know that was His plan. It’s all written for Him. To God alone be the glory.

  My husband—Jeremy—is the best man I’ve ever known. He puts up with a lot from me and my crazy-creative-writer brain. He’s superman. Who’s been known to run the vacuum, do laundry, and cook fabulous meals when he knows I’m hunkered down on deadline.

  Our two amazing kids are two of the best cheerleaders I have. Josh and Kayla—I adore you. And I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be your mom. Love you both!

  While I was researching this book, our family expanded with the addition of my new daughter-in-law. Ruth, you are precious, and I’m so excited to have you as part of the Woodhouse clan. Hopefully having an author as a crazy mother-in-law won’t be too taxing on you!

  Barbour Publishing—our journey together has been so interesting. Fiction and nonfiction, I always look forward to what God is going to do next through our working relationship. You all have been a joy to work with. Thank you for all you do. The cover is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for capturing Faith’s personality and for matching the dress I found so perfectly. I am in awe.

  Becky Germany, thank you for believing in me. It has been a joy to get to know you over the years.

  Becky Fish, thank you again for your hard work on this manuscript. Your input and encouragement were wonderful.

  Jackie Hale, friend and cheerleader. Thanks for being there.

  My critters: Darcie Gudger, Becca Whitham, and Kayla Woodhouse—where would I be without you? Becca—thanks for traipsing to Mount Vernon with me. Your insight and questions were wonderful. (I’m amazed neither one of us got sick in the chilly rain.) We need to do more research together. It’s entirely too much fun.

  My friend and mentor—Tracie Peterson—you’ve blessed me in more ways than I can count. Thanks for cheering me on and whacking me upside the head when I need it.

  And to you—my readers, I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
