Baby Bumps: From Party Girl to Proud Mama, and all the Messy Milestones Along the Way

  She gave me a few gifts that weekend, too. She told me how proud she is of me. How wonderful it is for her to see me in mommy mode. She said she respects and appreciates the adult woman I’ve become. Thanks, Mom!

  For his part, Lorenzo thought it was appropriate to drive me crazy. I felt it was because his father wasn’t around. Lorenzo knows I will baby him, and he takes advantage of that. He decided not to sleep at all during the night, and play with mommy in bed from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM for four nights straight. As I was sitting there with him, exhausted, I realized how lucky I am to have such an amazing, beautiful son. There’s no doubt he can drive me nuts and stress me out at times. Doesn’t matter. He’s my son, my baby. I love him more than words can describe. I would do anything to make him the happiest boy in the entire world. Sometimes, you need to be so freakin’ tired to see the truth. Keeping me awake at 2:00 AM to play with him, his smile and laugh, was his first Mother’s Day gift to me. His whole existence was my Mother’s Day present.

  That’s the gift I’ll keep forever, no matter how old he gets. I love you, Lorenzo, for the next hundred Mother’s Days and beyond.
