“You never asked me to marry you.”
“Yes, I did.”
“No,” she snapped, “you didn’t.”
“Well, I’m asking you now. Will you marry me?”
She opened her mouth to tell him that growling at her wasn’t earning him points when she realized that beneath his scowl lurked a hint of vulnerable uncertainty.
“That depends.”
“On what?”
“On whether or not you love me.”
“Of course I love you.” He pressed her against the wall again, pinning her with his weight, his hips trapping hers. “I walked into your bar and fell head over heels. I didn’t think it could happen — thought that was just a fairy tale meant for little kids — but it was real.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “I’m crazy about you.”
“I thought it was just the great sex,” she whispered, her heart lurching at the look on his face.
“Oh, the sex is amazing,” he agreed. “But so is everything else about you.” He kissed her until they both had to stop to breathe. “Marry me,” he ground out. “Say yes.”
“Yes,” she murmured.
“Thank God.” He swung her into his arms and carried her into the bedroom.
