Wolf's Den - A BBW Shifter Romance Novel Page 8

“I needed to do it. I had to save you. I just did,” I explained not really sure myself. I only remembered that snippet of memory and the feeling I’d felt as Dolan threatened me that seemed to trigger my change. What it meant, I wasn’t sure.

“You’re beautiful, you know that. You’re the most beautiful wolf and the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen,” Yeager told me. I smiled despite myself. “This is new too,” he said stroking my hair. I reached up and held my hair so I could see it. There was a white streak now in my raven-black hair. “You had a white patch on your back when you were a wolf,” Yeager told me.

“It was incredible. I didn’t want to change back,” I told him as I remembered what if felt like. Yeager nodded and I could tell he knew exactly what I spoke of.

“I know the feeling but being both has its advantages,” he said and then noticed my side was bleeding. “We need to get you some help. Can you stand?” he asked. I nodded and with Yeager’s help, I got to my feet. As I turned, two wolves emerged from the trees, two gray wolves but they lacked Yeager’s silver streak down their backs. Yeager held up his hand to show them everything was fine. Still, they sniffed the air and moved to protect us. Yeager told them I needed help and one of them ran off from where he had come. The other remained but turned as the thin, boyish girl emerged from the forest behind him. It was Edie.

“What the fuck was that?” Edie yelled as she emerged from the trees and then when she saw Yeager and me, both naked, she skid to a stop simply staring. “What in the hell is going on?” she asked and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Edie, it’s fine,” I assured her. She looked like she was going to pass out.

“These bikers needed help getting here so I drove and then they hopped out and got naked and...is that a dead wolf?” she asked but just shook her head and continued, “Then they ran off and I tried to follow and...why the hell are you naked?” Edie said and then sat on the ground to keep from falling down utterly confused and overwhelmed.

“Is it OK if I tell her?” I asked Yeager.

“I think she already knows,” he replied. The gray wolf perked up and then before our eyes became a man, a naked man. Edie screamed at the sight.

“Murphy,” Yeager greeted the middle-aged biker with the long gray hair and shaggy mustache that framed his mouth.

“Hello, Yeager. Rex is bringing her truck up the hill. We’ll have to walk a bit though. I doubt he can get it all the way here. Can she make it?” Murphy asked.

“Hi, I’m Cassie. I can make it.” I said and held out my hand as if all, the wolves, the shifting the fact we were naked, was perfectly normal.

“Nice to meet you,” Murphy replied and shook my hand. He was naked but being a wolf and seeing him as a wolf kind made it a moot point. Once I’d seen a man as a wolf, seeing him naked just wasn’t a big deal anymore. It was hard to explain.

“The question is, can she make it?” Yeager pointed out. Edie was hugging her knees to her chest, trying to process what she’d seen. They likely thought she’d lost her mind but I knew better. She was just being Edie.

“She’ll be fine. Let’s go Edie,” I said. She looked at me and got to her feet.

“Are you...like them?” she asked me. I took her hand as Yeager helped me walk.

“I think so,” I told her. Yeager looked at me and I caught his gaze. He wondered how she’d take that. Then he looked at Edie.

“That’s so fucking cool,” she said and I smiled at Yeager knowingly. He chuckled as we walked off to find Edie’s truck. Yeager ran off to retrieve my clothes and cell phone on the way. I wondered how he could find them but he assured me my scent was all over them and it would lead him there. I knew what he meant. I could scent him as well. Not like the first day at the lake. Now the air was thick with Yeager’s intoxicating scent.

“You’re kind of unique, you know,” Murphy said as we walked, obviously referring to my shifter status. I was a woman when he found me but he could figure out what had happened.

“So I hear,” I replied. Murphy screwed up his face, trying to figure out what it meant. At least that’s what I thought.

“In any case, welcome to the fold,” he told me.

  “Thanks,” I replied.

We all managed to find something to wear. Rex, a thin man with reddish hair and a short beard who was dressed again, brought Murphy’s clothes and Yeager grabbed his own from the cabin on his way to meet us. We couldn’t very well all show up in Gold Canyon nude could we? In a small town like that, people would be talking about it for decades. Yeager and I followed Edie and the other shifters back to town on his bike.

Yeager insisted I see a doctor. Once we arrived in town he took me to the urgent care clinic. I told them I was bit by a dog while hiking. That wasn’t a complete lie and it was enough to satisfy them. I assured the nurse when she asked that I knew the owners and wasn’t interested in getting Animal Control involved. They seemed to buy my story, or at least they didn’t pry any further if they didn’t.

“So?” Yeager asked when I found him in the waiting room.

“It wasn’t as bad as it looked. No stiches and they gave me these,” I said showing him the bottle of antibiotics as we walked out to his bike.

“Knowing the dog that bit you, you’ll probably need those,” Yeager said attempting to lighten the mood but I didn’t laugh. He immediately realized what he’d said. “Sorry, Cassie. I wasn’t thinking,” he apologized.

“No, it’s fine. I have no ties to Dolan. That’s not what bothers me. I may not have felt this way before and shifting may have something to do with the way I feel now but he deserved what he got. What bothers me is not knowing what happened to my mom. You knew Dolan’s father. Did he rape her?” I asked.

“I don’t know. I’d like to think that he’d changed in the years between when he supposedly fathered you and I found him raping that girl,” Yeager told me.

  “Supposedly?” I wondered.

“Do you believe Dolan’s story?” Yeager asked climbing onto his bike.

“Yeah. I could sense it. He was my brother. I hope you’re right about my mom. I think I’ll just choose to believe his father was a different man back then. Mom never said anything good or bad about my father. She didn’t say much at all. Maybe I know why now,” I told him. Yeager smiled wistfully.

“I don’t know about you, but I could use a long run,” he said. I climbed onto his bike behind him.

“I know the perfect spot. I need to check in on the Rusty Skillet first. I need to talk to Edie,” I told him. He nodded, fired up his bike and we rode off towards downtown. I found the diner mostly deserted and Edie sitting at the counter looking bored and a bit shell-shocked. I approached her as I surveyed the Rusty Skillet. The diner was my mom’s dream and I’d tried to keep it alive but I didn’t think that was possible anymore. It was kind of sad. This was the last link to my mom besides the house. But I had to deal with Edie before I could wallow in my own problems.

“Hey,” I said as I sat next to her.

“What did the doctor say?” she asked.

“I’ll live. So, you want to take a walk?” I offered.

“Not like I’m doing anything here,” Edie told me then shouted at Jesus to cover for her. Yeager had followed me in and I told him to grab a seat and order us some food. I hadn’t eaten a real meal in a couple of days and after the morning’s events, I was famished. He took a seat as Edie and I left through the back door. Main Street was still crowded but the side street behind the Rusty Skillet was all but deserted.

“So, you saw a lot today,” I started. Edie laughed.

“Understatement of the millennium,” she replied.

“Yeah, no doubt. Look, I’m one of them. I didn’t know until this morning but I am. It’s still a bit surreal,” I told her.

“One of them?” she asked. I guess I had to explain. I wondered where to start but finally, I just gave her the short version.

“A shifter. Yeager, that big biker named Dolan,
Murphy and Rex are all shifters. They can become wolves. I can too,” I told her. Saying it flooded my mind with the events of the past few days and the possibilities yet to come. Most of all, I wondered what being a female shifter meant.

“I was wondering. You were naked like the rest of them. Who’s the biker? Yeager, is it?” Edie asked me.

“He’s...um...my mate,” I told her and decided to just start from the beginning and tell her everything. I told her about our first date, the encounter with Dolan, our escape to the cabin, the mountain lake, the moonlight run, all of it except the part about Dolan being my brother and my mom’s connection to all of it. We may have been related by blood but he wasn’t my brother. I told Edie that somehow I knew through it all that everything was true and that I had strong feelings for Yeager. I still wasn’t sure if my feelings were a destiny beyond my control or they had developed as we ran from and faced Dolan and his pack but I guess it didn’t matter. I loved him and though he hadn’t said as much, probably to keep from freaking me out, he loved me too. I could smell it.

“He seems to like you,” she said.

“Yeah, he does. So that’s it? I tell you I’m a wolf and that’s all you have to say?” I pressed. Edie smiled at me.

“I think it’s so cool. I wish I was a wolf. Please tell me it’s as awesome as I hope,” she said excitedly. Edie was always a bit strange but I loved her. Until Yeager showed up, Edie was all I had.

“It’s pretty fucking amazing,” I assured her. Even though my only experience was during the frightening events of this morning, I knew that being a part-time wolf was pretty special. I had yet to experience being a wolf otherwise and honestly, I looked forward to it. I couldn’t wait to shift and run next to my mate in the moonlight. But this time, I’d be running circles around him.

“You’re leaving, aren’t you?” Edie said after a moment. I wasn’t sure what she meant until I saw the sadness in her eyes.

“I don’t know what’s going on yet. The diner’s going to go out of business. Without all the revenue from the motorcycle run, I can’t see keeping it open for long,” I admitted and for the first time out loud to another person.

“Your mom would want you to go live your life, Cassie,” Edie told me. I looked at my best friend and she smiled reassuringly at me. Sometimes, she knew more than I did.

“I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to keep her dream alive. I need to go live my dreams. I just never knew what they were until now. I’m Yeager’s mate and he’s mine. I can’t explain it but I need to be with him,” I said.

“You should do that then,” she told me.

“Well, in any case it will be a while before I make any big decisions. We haven’t talked about where we go from here. Maybe Yeager and I will stick around,” I explained. Edie smiled and I could tell she didn’t think that would happen any more than I did. I didn’t know what would happen or where Yeager and I would end up but I knew it probably wouldn’t be here. There were too many memories here for me.

“So, what’s with the hair?” she asked. I touched the white shock of hair that apparently matched the white patch on my back when I was shifted.

“It showed up after I shifted. Yeager told me the wolf I become has a white patch on its back but is otherwise as black as the rest of my hair,” I explained.

“That is so freakin’ cool,” Edie exclaimed. I laughed. Part of me wished she could experience what I had. Who knows, maybe there was a shifter out there looking for Edie too.

Edie and I headed back and she told me how slow things had been and how worried she was. I told her what little I knew about Yeager and when we got back I introduced the two formally. I realized I didn’t know much about my mate but I knew all I needed. We made a good team and there were deeper feelings there too. I liked to think it was more than fate that brought us together. I liked to think we would have found each other anyway and that my feelings for Yeager were more than destiny.

Edie was more than happy to cover the diner for another day so I could deal with things. It wasn’t as if it was all that hard considering how few customers we had after the events of the previous days. After we ate and visited with Edie, Yeager and I left the diner. He dropped me off at my house and he went to his motel room so we could both change clothes and shower. He picked me up an hour later and we rode his bike up into the mountains taking a route different than the one we had during our escape. There were no lakes where we went but there was a broad, green meadow and hardly anyone ever went there. Tourists ignored it in favor of Yosemite but it was just as beautiful as any place in the National Park.

The sun was low in the western sky but it hadn’t set yet. Yeager and I hiked towards the meadow, taking our time as we waited for dark. “You’re OK with everything?” Yeager asked as we walked.

  “Yeah, I suppose,” I replied.

“You’re not going to freak out on me or something. I’m here to talk to if anything is bugging you,” he told me. I took his hand and squeezed it.

“I appreciate that. I’ve been through a lot already in my life. I admit, this is pretty big but I’m dealing with it. Honestly, knowing you’re my mate isn’t scary. It’s comforting. I like the idea of having someone in my life I can count on. Since mom died, Edie’s been there but it’s not the same, you know,” I explained. Yeager nodded like he understood but then he stopped and turned to face me.

“I’m glad you’re OK with it because I’m losing my fucking mind,” he said with a hint of amusement in his amber eyes.

  “Why?” I asked curiously.

“My mate is a wolf. Nobody I’ve ever talked to has heard of a female shifter. I thought finding you seven years ago was the best thing that ever happened to me until I met you. Then when I met you for the first time, I was sure that was as good as it could get. But seeing you as a wolf, wow! You’re one sexy ball of fur, Cassie,” Yeager told me. I giggled at that.

“I did feel like I was rather fluffy,” I replied. Yeager waggled his eyebrows and growled, but like a human this time.

“Curvy and fluffy and that white streak is so sexy. I’m one lucky shifter,” he said as he slipped his hand around my waist and squeezed my ample behind. I wasn’t sure if he was talking about me as a woman or a wolf but I suspected both.

“You’re kind of cute yourself,” I said running my hand over the black t-shirt that covered his broad chest. “We going to do it now and then go for a run or do it after?” I asked suggestively. Suddenly, I ached for Yeager. I yearned to see him snarl and salivate as he had his way with me. Maybe I’d act a little wild myself too. Maybe, I’d have my way with him.

“Both,” was all he said. That sounded like a good plan. I peeled my tank top up and over my big breasts and then pulled it off. I hadn’t worn a bra and my abundant breasts pressed against Yeager’s t-shirt. He began working at my yoga pants as he bent and kissed me. I furiously worked at his belt and jeans as our tongues mingled. We kissed until we were forced to part to finish the process of getting naked. We folded our clothes and placed them along with our shoes on a boulder and walked hand in hand towards the meadow.

We didn’t make it, however. We found a broad granite boulder with a nice flat top. I pulled Yeager towards it and had him sit on the edge as I knelt in the soft pine needles that covered the ground. “Does this thing get all...wolfy every time?” I asked as I stroked Yeager’s quickly hardening shaft.

“It can do whatever I want it too,” he said suggestively.

“That’s kind of naughty,” I remarked. Yeager chuckled.

“You have no idea but I assure you that my little display by the lake the other day was completely unexpected. I admit I lost control,” he said. I stared into his amber eyes as I took him into my mouth and began to pleasure my mate and show him the appreciation I had for that admission. I liked the idea that he lost control around me. Yeager sighed, obviously enjoying the attention. I did a number on him, sucking his crown, kissing and licking his shaft and sucking on his hefty
jewels. I never stopped looking at him with my emerald eyes as I pleased Yeager’s considerable manhood. I looked away for a moment as I took him into my mouth and when my eyes returned to his, I found his fangs bared.

I wondered if I could do that same and sure enough, as soon as I willed it, my fangs appeared and it only hurt a bit. I dragged them up Yeager’s shaft and then gently bit the head of his cock. “Now that is fucking sexy,” he told me breathlessly.

  “I’m so excited,” I admitted.

“Yeah? Well why don’t you get that sexy body up here and take a ride?” he offered. I liked the sound of that. I climbed onto the big, flat boulder and straddled Yeager’s face. I smothered him with my creamy thighs and velvet sex as I reached out and began stroking his thick tool. Yeager greedily ate me and I felt a deep need build within. His deft lips and tongue, not to mention his glossy fangs, teased and tormented me as I worked my hips and rubbed myself all over his bearded face.
