Kayne’s Fury: A Savage Saints MC Novel
Page 11
Breaking the soul-shattering kiss, Kayne releases me. “Everyone outside.” He growls but doesn’t release me. “I’ll be right out that door. If he tries anything, and I mean anything, kill him. We’ll get answers somewhere else.”
“Got it.” I stare into his eyes before he releases me, walking toward the door. I watch Kayne’s ass as he walks out the door and my line of sight.
Turning my attention to Damon, his black eyes are on me. “Fuck you’re still as beautiful as I remember.”
“Don’t flatter me.” I pace back and forth, trying to figure out the best way to get what I need. Pain didn’t make him budge. Something has to make him crack. Then it occurs to me, what I must do. Bile climbs its way up my throat, but I tamp it down.
“Damon,” he’s still watching me. “Why did you leave me?” I ask stepping closer to him, putting a little extra sway in my hips. His eyes drop to my body, hooded with desire. Even after the beating I delivered. This shit turns him on.
“I had no choice,” he keeps his eyes on my chest.
“Bullshit,” I crouch in front of him, straddling his legs. “Everyone has a choice.” His eyes travel up my body and I feel like I’m going to be sick.
“Drex told me I had to get in with The Black Destroyers. If I didn’t, he’d kill me.” His eyes land on my lips. Desire swirling in them.
I lean toward him and his eyes drop back to my chest, making my skin crawl. “Did you know I spent months wondering why you left? Why you didn’t want me anymore? Wondering what I did wrong?” I play the part of a crushed girlfriend well. All I really want to do is get away from him and his wretched stench as fast as possible.
I watch his throat bob up and down, his fingers gripping the chains tight. “You did nothing wrong. I didn’t want to go, but he threatened me. Then when I got in with The Black Destroyers, Drex told me to stay there. That if I did my dues, I’d be able to come back for you. The love I had with you.” Damon swallows hard, his gaze traveling back up to meet mine. Defeat in his black eyes. “He wanted you and MadDog dead because he knew you both were on the verge of taking him over with Kayne.”
There’s the truth. Drex knew about my side deal. Leaning in closer, I whisper in his ear while trying to tamp down the vomit. “You are such a liar. You never loved me. Only yourself.” I pull out a knife tucked in my boot. The blade slips deep into his skin at his throat. He gargles a little and I watch his eyes fade away. Blood flowing down the handle of the knife coating my hands. I pull the knife out when Damon stops moving and stand up.
Tears are streaming down my face. My body is shaking uncontrollably. My mind is racing in a million different directions, but the one it keeps repeating is;
You’re a murderer now.
Your hands are stained forever.
The knife slips through my fingers, clattering to the floor. My stomach is flipping, vomit working its way up my throat. Bending over, I throw up what little contents I have in my stomach. I can’t breathe. Black spots don my vision. I can’t do this, this isn’t me. Sobbing hard I fall to my knees and succumb to the darkness.
TWELVE
Poison
One Year Earlier
I’ve been doing these runs with Kayne and his boys for the last year. The Prospect, I finally found out his name is Duke and I have a strange relationship. Sometimes we talk the entire way, then there are days where we don’t speak a word to each other, just let the music fill the van. I realize, when he doesn’t talk, it’s usually because one of the patch whores pissed him off. I’ve tried to tell him not to get attached to any of them. They only want one thing and when they get it, they move on. That’s why they’re whores. He’s finally getting it.
When I’m quiet it’s because Kayne pissed me off. Either with his sexy walk, his intense stares or he just opens his mouth and demands I do what he says. I’m not his Old Lady. Some days I want to throttle the smirk off his face, but most days I want him to put his mouth to good use and fuck me senseless. This hot and cold he keeps giving off is really fucking with my head.
Something must have happened before we met up because Duke’s being all dark and brooding, listening to heavier metal thrash than normal. The volume is cranked up so loud, it’s hard to hear myself think. The base of the speakers is vibrating my body. I close my eyes and lean my forehead against the window. It’s better than staring at a sexy biker in front of me. Wishing for something I can’t have.
The van slows down and makes a sharp right turn. My eyes fly open and I instinctively reach for the gun in my bag, panic setting in.
“Slow down woman. Don’t need to grab that,” Duke’s voice rings through the blood rushing to my ears.
“What are we doing? He’s going to kill us for deviating from the plan.” Terror threatens to crawl up my spine.
Duke turns down the radio. “Trust me. Kayne knows what he’s doing. It’s just a side detour.”
I glance over at Duke. He’s covered in tattoos, from his fingers all the way up both arms, through his t-shirt and cut, on his whole beefy neck. He shaved his head and his piercing green eyes can render a person speechless. To anyone else, he appears as a skin-head, intimidating and menacing but to me, he’s Duke. He never went into detail why they gave him that name. Just something about being drunk one night and reminding the boys of John Wayne.
Duke brings the van to a full stop in front of a body repair shop. He turns down the music and shuts the van off. “Come on, Princess. Your presence is needed inside.” He climbs out of the van and slams the door shut.
I look around. Kayne, Blayde, Stryker and Duke are standing in front of the van, watching me. Kayne’s blue eyes are boring into me, making my stomach flip. When I don’t get out, he comes strolling over. I watch him, watch me. My heart is beating hard in my chest when he yanks my door open. Fear clawing at my throat.
“Princess, let’s go,” Kayne growls. His stance is intimidating. All six-foot-six coiled muscle. His jaw ticks when I don’t move. “Move it before I move it for you.”
The hair on the back of my neck stands on end. I can smell him as he crowds my door and heat pools between my legs. My defenses come up and I fire back. “Fuck you, Kayne. I’m not going anywhere.” I cross my arms over my chest. His eyes track my movements, pushing my chest up higher.
“You can either come willingly or I’ll do it by force. Either way, you’re needed inside.” He barks at me.
“I’ll do what the fuck I want. There’s no way in hell I’m going in there with you. So, fuck off. I’m not your Old Lady. I don’t jump or ask how high when you bark. Sorry.” I know I’m acting like a brat, but this guy confuses the fuck out of me. One minute he’s looking at me like he wants to rip my clothes off and fuck me raw, the next he looks like he wants to throttle me. Right now, he’s giving me the latter.
Before I realize what’s happening, Kayne’s muscled arms wrap around my waist and he yanks me from the van, throwing me over his shoulder. He kicks the door shut with his boot. I’m hanging upside down, my hair that I took time to fix tonight, is falling in my face. Anger boils in my blood at him manhandling me. I start squirming in his warm grasp, kicking my feet and punching his back.
“Put me down now asshole. I will kill you.” He keeps walking, jarring my stomach into my throat from his quick strides. “Fucking asshole. I’m going to kick your ass. I swear to the Biker Gods, Kayne. I will cut you so deep, you’ll wish for death.” I think I feel him laughing, but I’m so pissed, I don’t care.
Suddenly, my ass hits the concrete floor hard, sending a jolting pain up my tailbone. Kayne just tossed me down like a bag of rice. I wince and stand up, heading right for him. I almost reach him to slap the shit out of him when a familiar voice stops me.
“Poison. You can kick his ass later.” Slowly I turn around. MadDog is standing in the middle of the repair bay, his arms crossed over his chest and his glare is pinned on Kayne and me. “We have business. Save the foreplay for another time.”
“What are you
talking about?” I’m confused as hell.
Kayne steps closer behind me, protectively. A low growl escapes his throat, his body heat surrounds me, sending my underused pussy into overdrive. I haven’t been touched by a man in a couple of years. Every time I feel the urge, Kayne’s blonde hair and blue eyes pop into my head and I can’t go through with even a simple hook up. My vibrator is getting really tired of being abused.
“Princess, you with us?” Kayne grumbles low in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. Fuck, I didn’t hear what they said.
“Yes.” I lie. I can feel a deep rumble behind me from Kayne.
He leans in closer, his lips grazing my ear, making my body heat with desire. “Liar. I know what you were thinking. I can smell it.” Kayne whispers. I swallow hard and shake my head.
“Let’s get down to business.” MadDog barks, his hazel eyes are pinning Kayne and me to our spots. I’ve never seen this side of him directed toward me. “We have a problem and I need your help, Kayne.”
“We all have a problem and his name is Drex,” Kayne responds. He still hasn’t moved from directly behind me. I fight the urge to seek out his body and rub against him, to see if he’s as hard as I’m wet.
“Exactly. He set these runs up for a reason. To take the heat off him and put it on your club. He’s planning on sabotaging a few of the shipments, that way the Irish think you’re fucking them over. Then he’ll come swooping in, making you indebted to him with no choice but to join the Deadly Sins. Then once he has complete control, he will try to kill you.”
“We can’t let that happen,” I whisper. I know my father is a twisted son-of-a-bitch, but this is taking it too far.
“And we’re not. I will accompany you on each drop from now on. I need to protect you, Poison. Kayne’s not the only one he wants out.” Sadness etched in his hazel eyes as he watches me.
“Me? Does he want to kill me? What the hell have I done?” I ask.
“To him, you’re a threat. The boys adore you more than him and it pisses Drex off. You’re the light of our club. He craves the darkness. We need to end him before he ends you.”
I think I’m going to be sick. My breaths are short and choppy. I can’t get any air into my lungs. Fear claws its way up my throat. Panic is setting in. Warm hands are on my back rubbing small circles, soothing me, bringing me back. Once I get past the initial shock, I think back through all the years. Drex has dropped every sign he didn’t want me and this confirms it. Straightening my spine, determination filling the void of my father wanting me dead. Kayne’s strong hands holding me steady, I look into MadDog’s eyes.
“How are we going to stop him?” I ask.
“First, you’re going to continue like you know nothing. Kayne and I have been working on a plan and now it’s time to involve you.” MadDog answers. Behind him, Deeks, G and Butch, a few of his trusted men nod their heads. “I’ve informed the Irish of Drex’s plan. They are starting to like you. You give them a reason to keep this business open. They enjoy your battle with Kayne at the drops. You’re going to continue giving them what they want. I’m working on getting more of our guys on my side. Once I have enough, we’re going to get rid of Drex before he moves with his plan.” MadDog steps closer to me and places a gentle hand on my shoulder. “Trust me. We’ve got you.”
“Why are you telling me this now? Why not keep me in the dark?”
Kayne clears his throat. His hands are still on my waist, his grip tightening sending desire straight to my core. “Because Drex will try to butter you up before he delivers his blow. He’ll start to pay more attention to you and then when you least expect it, he’ll kill you with no remorse. I can’t let that happen. I won’t let that happen.”
A shudder runs through my body from Kayne’s protectiveness. I turn my head so I can look at him. “You hate me. Why would you put your club and life in jeopardy for me?”
Kayne’s blue gaze is burning into me. I watch his Adam’s apple bob up and down while he swallows hard. “Can you give us a minute?” I’m mesmerized by his intense stare, I don’t realize everyone’s left until Kayne crowds my space. My breath catches in my throat, my heart beating hard against my chest as his huge frame is engulfing my small one. He’s stalking me like a predator stalks its prey. He tightens his grip on my hips. “Poison, you have rocked my world. I’ve been trying to fight it, but you’ve worked your way under my skin. I don’t hate you. I hate what Drex has done to you and I want to protect you. That pisses me off. I’ve been a fuck ‘em and leave ‘em type of guy. Until you came crashing into my world.”
My breath catches in my throat from Kayne’s declaration. I can’t take my eyes off him. His powerful, sexy body and intense blue eyes make my brain shut down. His warm body pressed against mine, his strong grip on my hips.
“Kayne,” I whisper, my breath fanning across his face. He growls low in his throat. That’s all I can get out before his lips crash onto mine. I’ve been dreaming of this for the last year. His hands all over my body, kneading and roaming. His full lips on mine, demanding access. I part my lips and his tongue plunges inside, his taste fulfilling my senses. Warm, soft, demanding. I nibble on his lower lip, a groan escapes Kayne’s throat. He gathers me into his arms, pressing his hard cock against my stomach. Heat rushes through my body and I want his hard cock inside me, owning me, commanding me.
Kayne breaks our soul-shattering first kiss. His breathing is rapid, panting. “You drive me crazy, Poison.”
“Sarah. Call me Sarah.” I respond breathlessly.
Kayne inhales resting his forehead against mine. “Sarah.” One word from his lips sends my body into overdrive. No one ever calls me by my given name, but hearing it roll off Kayne’s lips sounds right. Perfect. “I will protect you.”
A loud bang from outside makes me jump. Kayne releases his grip on my body. “Come on. That was a warning. We’ve been here too long.” He grabs my hand and pulls me toward the door. Once we’re outside, he releases my hand and MadDog steps up next to me.
“Poison, one last thing I need you to do.” Dread is in his hazel eyes. “I need you to stay close to Drex. Earn his trust. Then the boys who follow him will follow you. We need ears to the ground to see who we can trust. You’re the only one who can do that. If I start sniffing around, Drex will get suspicious. He overlooks his worst threat. You.”
“Are you sure this will work? What if he turns on me? He’s already a psychopath.” I ask, my voice quivering with fear.
“Positive. If you keep doing what you do, this will work. I will have eyes on you the whole time.” MadDog squeezes my shoulder, offering me comfort.
“Guys, we have to move. We’re going to be late if we don’t hammer down.” Blayde breaks in.
“Load up and let’s roll,” Kayne responds. He offers me a small wink before he climbs on his bike and fires it up.
“Poison,” MadDog catches my attention. “Trust us. I know it’s a hard thing to do, but you’re…” his voice is cut off from Kayne’s bike growling to life, slowly driving by. “You’ve got to go. I will protect you. I promise.”
I give MadDog a hug. “Thank you.” I release him and climb into the van. Duke fires it up and we follow close behind Kayne and his brothers. His taste still on my lips, his scent still surrounding me, cocooning me in a protective wrap. No one will take this away from me. No one will ever hurt me again. Not with Kayne next to me, standing by my side.
THIRTEEN
Kayne
I’m pacing outside the repair shop, rage consuming my body, my mind, my soul. The dark of night surrounds me. Poison wanted to be left alone with that fucking lunatic. I should have listened to my instincts and told her no fucking way, but the look she threw my way made me comply. This woman has my head all fucked up. I never should have left her alone. What if he escaped and he’s hurting her? What if she can’t go through with whatever’s on her mind and she releases him? All these what-ifs are driving me insane.
“Kayne,” Blayde barks my name
making me spin in his direction, my boots crunching on the cracked asphalt. “Calm down, brother. Trust she has this.”
My eyes bore into my VP, my best friend. He can’t possibly know what I’m thinking, but by the glare he’s throwing back, he does. He knows exactly where my mind is going. I glower at everyone outside, making Siren and Holly step closer to Blayde. Stryker is scowling at them, his nose flaring. Jealousy over Holly turning to Blayde for protection is all over his face.
A loud clatter from inside the shop penetrates the quiet night and I run to the door, yanking it open. My eyes take in the scene before me. Holy fuck. There’s blood everywhere. Damon’s lifeless eyes are staring ahead as blood seeps from a neck wound. It trickles down his lips and neck, dripping onto the concrete floor.
My eyes are scanning the room, looking for Poison. I spot her curled up in the middle of the floor in a tight ball. I rush over to her, my heart beating hard against my chest. I pull her limp body into my arms, checking for a pulse. My ears are ringing, my heart is pounding against my chest. There’s blood everywhere.
“No, no, no. Poison, wake up.” I beg, pulling her against me. Tears are stinging my eyes. My mind is racing with the worst possible scenario. She doesn’t move. Doesn’t open her beautiful hazel eyes. Doesn’t grace me with her sexy smile or witty comebacks. She just lays in my arms, not moving. Her breathes are shallow and choppy against my heated skin.
I pick her up gently and growl to no one in particular, “Get this fucking mess cleaned up. I’m taking her home.” I want to murder someone for hurting my girl. I want to wrap my bare hands around their throat and squeeze with all my strength while I watch their eyes turn dull and lifeless.
No one replies and I don’t wait for one either. I can’t take her on my bike. She’s unconscious and will fall off. I spot the white van and hurry over to it. Opening the door while I hold Poison, I carefully lay her down in the back.
