“Are you excited?” John whispered to her.
“You have no idea.”
The grin on his face was enough to make her weak. He held her hand, stroked the back of it with his thumb. Cindy had no idea how they'd gotten so comfortable with each other, but it was an amazing feeling.
Cindy had fallen asleep sometime after they took off. Her entire night had consisted of her nervously checking the clock, cursing the time for taking its slow time. She woke up when her shoulder was gently shaken, a voice calling her from the distance. When her eyes slowly opened, she saw John smiling at her.
“Oh, I fell asleep,” she said with a yawn. “Are we close yet?”
“We're already here.”
Cindy pushed the blind on her window up. All she could see was another airport, but besides that she was lost. John gathered their things before they walked off of the jet. He led her over to another car, this one red, before they drove off. It didn't take Cindy long for her to figure out where they were.
“We're in New York? It's beautiful!”
Cindy's eyes couldn't stop staring in amazement at the city that passed them by. Everything was bustling, alive. Their car moved through traffic slowly, but she didn't mind. She was in her dream city. Secretly, she had been saving up forever to go there, even if just for a few days. Now, she was in the city that she had longed to go to when she was still a child.
John had a whole day planned out for them. They dropped their bags off in the hotel suite before they hit the city. He took her to museums, showed her his favorite pieces of art. Cindy marveled at his knowledge as he explained them, the meanings behind them.
They visited restaurants that she'd never heard of before, but the people who owned them apparently knew him. They would come out personally to say hello to him, bring him the best dishes that they had. After eating, John took her to the high end shops. Cindy was excited to try on fashion designers that she had only read and written about, but never gotten the opportunity to wear. John made her pick out one outfit from every store so he could buy it for her. Cindy protested, but he wouldn't listen to a word she said.
By the time they were done shopping, they both had bags on their arms. The anxiety she had felt was gone, melted away. They deposited their bags in the room, both of them tired from their adventures. John laid back on the bed as Cindy put her things away. When she was done, she crawled in next to him. She ran her fingers over his chest. Cindy wondered if she had ever felt this happy before. It was hard to imagine.
John wrapped an arm around her, pulled her in close. As he gazed at her, his hand ran over her cheek, through her hair. He smiled.
“What?” She asked quietly.
“You're really beautiful.”
Cindy blushed as she leaned her head up, his lips capturing hers softly. She pressed her body against his, felt the hard muscles beneath his shirt push against her too. Her fingers gripped his arm. As his mouth moved against hers, she abandoned any thoughts of pushing him away. She admitted, even if it was just to herself, that she liked him. That was enough. No matter what happened in the future, she could enjoy her time with him now.
She could tell he was holding back, trying to see how she felt by the way she kissed him back. Cindy didn't hold back. Her mouth became greedy, her tongue slipping into his mouth. It was all he needed.
John's hands caressed her cheeks as he kissed her back passionately. His hands slipped down her body, running over her hips. Cindy's hands tangled into his hair, moans escaping her lips as he rolled on top of her. As their lips pulled apart, she gazed up at him. The look in his eyes was more than enough to let her know that he really cared about her.
Cindy held her breath as his fingers untied her dress from around her neck. The material slipped across her skin as he pulled the dress from over her head. His hands ran over the pale pink strap of her bra, following it down to the clasp. The bra was tossed over the side of the bed to join her dress. His lips roamed over her neck, making her moan.
Her fingers worked slowly as she unbuttoned his shirt. When the last button was undone, she slipped her hands inside of his shirt, pushed it down his shoulders. John sat up long enough to shed his shirt before he was back to lavishing attention on her body. His lips trailed from her neck, to her collarbone, to her breasts. There, his journey paused as he licked and teased her already hardened nipples.
Cindy writhed beneath him, the sensation of only her breasts being given attention driving her wild. She began to sit up, pushing back on his chest. John looked at her in surprise, but he let her move forward. Her fingers were swift as she unfastened his jeans, pushed them down his strong legs along with his boxers.
John's already rigid cock came into view, the sight enough to make Cindy excited. She pushed him back onto the bed, took her time as she showed the same attention to his body that he'd given to her. She started with his lips, kissing him so deeply that his fingers gripped her ass. As she made her way down; biting the lobe of his ear, feathering kisses along his jaw line, nibbling on his neck, she felt him grind against her. She grinned.
Her lips continued down, until she ran her tongue up his shaft. Cindy's lips wrapped around the head of his cock, her mouth taking in inch after inch of him. John moaned, his back arching as she slipped him deeper into her throat. His hands gathered up her hair, turned it into a ponytail around his fist as she slid her wet mouth up and down his shaft. The sound of his breathless moans made her shiver.
Cindy's tongue slid over his flesh, twirling around the head of his cock. She felt him twitch inside of her mouth. Her fingers trailed down the inside of her thighs, ran over the pale, pink fabric of her panties. She could feel the wetness through them, knew that she couldn't take much more before she had to have him.
John must have felt the same way. Once she'd released his throbbing cock, he pushed her back onto the bed. The panties were pulled from her legs quickly before he began to bury himself inside of her. Cindy's arms wrapped around his back, her moans filling his ears as he thrust inside of her.
John slipped out of her suddenly, making her groan in protest. He pulled Cindy up before turning her around, her knees sliding against the covers. She felt the head of his cock rub over her slit, felt every inch slide into her until her legs were trembling. He grabbed onto her hips, thrust into her until the only sounds in the room were their moaning and the sounds of him thrusting into her wetness.
Cindy's fingers curled into the blankets. Her breath slipped through her lips in hitched moans. She cried out as he picked up speed. Her hips writhed against his, the circling of her hips only spurring him on. He leaned forward, his lips pressed against her soft back as he planted kisses along her body.
She wasn't sure how much more she could take. His hands ran beneath her body, cupped her breasts. The tightening of his fingers on her nipples was enough to make her cry out. Every inch of her that he touched tingled. His mouth was close to her ear now, every moan that ushered from his lips was enough to make her pussy clench tightly around him.
As every thrust became deeper, Cindy could feel the mounting pleasure inside of her hitting its peak. Her stomach tightened, her moaning cut short by her gasps of ecstasy. She trembled as her pussy tightened, the orgasm rushing through her body. Cindy cried out, almost fell forward if it weren't for John's powerful arms around her. She could hear him above her, his moan low, deep as his cock twitched within her. In moments, she felt warm cum slip inside of her.
Both of them laid there for a moment, exhaustion leaving them lifeless on the covers. John turned over, his eyes roaming over her naked form before he grinned. Cindy grinned back at him. He reached an arm out, wrapped it around her waist before he pulled her body up against his. It didn't matter that they were both hot, being close to each other was all that mattered. John placed a kiss on her forehead. She sighed.
They spent the rest of the weekend seeing the sights, drinking too much champagne and falling back into bed together. Every time was more passionate th
an the last until all it took was a look from John to get her going. Cindy felt herself growing more attached to him, but she didn't pull away. He was everything she wanted in a man.
They walked down the sidewalk on their last night in New York, her hand inside of his. Cindy loved the city, but it was better being with him. After they'd stopped to grab coffee, John pulled her into a little jewelry store. She wandered off when he told her he'd be right back.
Cindy's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out to see a text from Lillian. The woman had constantly messaged her wanting updates. Her enthusiasm spilled over to Cindy. She felt like they were back in school, passing notes about the cute boy she liked. She told her everything was going great, she'd be back tomorrow. In reality, she didn't want the weekend to be over anytime soon.
A hand ran over her shoulder. John placed a kiss to her neck, making her smile. She leaned into him, the smell of his cologne so familiar to her now. He reached an arm around her body. In his hand dangled a gold necklace, a heart on the end of the chain.
“What's this?” She asked as she turned to him.
“It's your 'we're making it official' gift,” he said with a grin.
“Oh, we are? And who said that?”
“Are you saying no?” He asked as he leaned in close to her.
John's lips hovered close to hers. His finger traced her cheek, running down her neck. Cindy smiled. How he could always read her mind, she wasn't sure. Slowly, she shook her head.
“I'm not saying no.”
John kissed her, his warm lips moving over hers until she leaned into him. When they pulled apart, he turned her around before fastening the necklace around her neck. Her fingers ran over the heart. When she turned back to him, she could see the adoration in his eyes.
“Ready to go home?” He asked.
Cindy shook her head. “Can't we stay here, forever?”
John laughed as he wrapped an arm around her waist. They walked out of the jewelry store, her head leaning into him. Cindy kept glancing up at him. She couldn't believe she'd found someone so like her, yet so different. He balanced her in ways she never knew that she needed.
When Monday came, she could hardly concentrate on her work. She was glad that she'd gotten most of it done ahead of time, because her mind could only think of John. Lillian came over, perched herself on Cindy's desk.
“So?” Lillian asked.
“So, what?”
“Are you guys together now? I didn't hear anything back from you last night.”
Cindy grinned. “We got distracted.”
“I'll bet,” Lillian said with a laugh as Cindy swatted her thigh.
“We're official now,” Cindy couldn't help but smile, “and I'm happy. Thanks for talking me into giving the whole boyfriend thing another go.”
“You deserve to be happy,” Lillian said as she patted her hand. “Do you want to grab lunch together? That is if John doesn't come to pick you up for lunch.”
“I'm pretty sure he's had enough of my face for now. Let's go try that new place around the corner.”
“Sounds good. See you at lunch.”
They both went back to working. Cindy checked her phone, but no new messages popped up. She was a little disappointed, but she knew she was being silly. I just miss him, that's all. Her fingers brushed against the necklace.
When lunch time came around, Cindy gathered her things and followed Lillian out of the office. Cindy was in the middle of telling her all about New York , when she froze. John stood at the entrance of the building, a smile on his face. She felt warmth spread throughout her body, her cheeks going pink. She wondered how long they would have to be together before his smile would stop making her blush.
“What are you doing here?” She asked.
“I came to take you out to lunch,” John said.
“Didn't I just see you all weekend?”
“Are you complaining?” He asked with a raised eyebrow.
Cindy shook her head quickly. “Not even a little bit.”
John smiled. “Let's go then.”
“Oh, I promised Lillian we'd go to lunch together.”
Lillian waved her hand. “You two go ahead. I'll be fine.”
“Absolutely, not,” John said before Cindy could even speak. “Come with us. I'm buying.”
Lillian glanced over at Cindy, who nodded quickly. “Well, as long as I'm not intruding.”
Once they'd settled in at the restaurant, John began asking Lillian about her dates with his friend. They talked so easily. Cindy couldn't help but to smile as she looked from her best friend to John. He caught her gaze, winked before he went back to his conversation with Lillian.
When they'd finished their food, Lillian thanked them before she headed back to the office. John and Cindy took their time, their fingers interlocked as they strolled down the street. Cindy leaned her head against his arm.
“You're very sweet, you know that?” She asked.
John laughed. “I would do anything for you.”
The thought made her heartbeat speed up once again. When they were in front of her building, he kissed her softly. His fingers moved through her hair as he gazed at her. She could see he wanted to say something.
“What?”
“Dinner, tonight. I have something I want to say to you,” he said with a smile.
Cindy was pretty sure she knew what it was. The thought of telling him how she felt didn't scare her anymore. She trusted him. As he gazed into her eyes, she knew that she felt the same way about him.

Chapter 1 – A New Beginning
The hallway of the old house, nestled snugly in its Rochester home, managed to be modest and graceful whilst managing to appropriate an air of grandness, and regality. The beautiful porcelain furnishings and lush pine rosewood fixtures stole Maria George’s breath away from her with all the cunning of a thief. She had never been in a building before that was so confident, so sure of its place in the world. She envied it that certainty, as she envied the life of most people she had observed recently, making their way in the world around her.
On the morning of October 1st Maria had awoken to find herself 23, divorced and unemployed. The magazine she had worked for had declined into administration so its collected employees were left stranded, like boats at sea without a mooring, bobbing in the shallows. Maria had ever been a person who strived for perfection and consistency. She had always turned in her homework on time, always arrived with punctuality. When she left school she made sure to always know what outgoings she had leaving her account, and more importantly, what she had coming in. Her divorce had robbed her of that sense of stability, as it had cheated her out of most other things. She was left skirting the breeze like a fallen leaf, and it made her very, very uncomfortable.
