Keeping Her (The Lexington Series Book 2)

“Lucy?” he asked. I turned to look at him with wide eyes and he immediately went on alert. “What’s wrong?” he asked. I didn’t speak I just turned the computer to face him. He scanned the screen and paled. “Who sent this?” he asked.
I was shaking so hard my teeth were rattling. “I – I don’t know. I don’t recognize the email address.” I confessed.
He punched the bed and growled. “FUCK!” he exploded and I flinched. His head whipped to me and he scooped me up into his arms. “This has to be Dylan messing with you because of me. Don’t worry about it Lucy, I’ll take care of it. No one is going to hurt you and you’re not leaving me.” He told me softly.
It took some time but the shaking eventually stopped. I looked up at him and confessed, “Landon I’m scared.”
He petted my hair. “It’s ok baby. Nothing is going to happen to you ok?” I nodded. His confidence was soothing but it didn’t quite take the fear from my heart. It took a long time but sleep eventually found me. Landon didn’t let me go throughout the entire night.
I went to class the next day a quivering mess. If this person’s intention was to freak me out then they completely succeeded. I was constantly looking over my shoulder and jumping at the smallest things. My nerves were a wreck and my anxiety was at an all-time high. I put on a brave front this morning for Nick and Landon, I didn’t want them worried or thinking they needed to baby me. They were coming after me not them. Landon thinks its Dylan, but this little beef they have with each other isn’t on the level of threatening me I don’t think. Something in my gut tells me that it isn’t him. Based off of what they told me has happened so far in their little feud, this didn’t fit the MO. I would just need to be careful and watch my back.
Landon
This asshole Dylan is taking this whole thing too far. Threatening Lucy? I’m going to hurt this fucker. I made my way to his dorm and banged on the door. I had about 15 minutes before my class and I’m hoping he was here. I banged again and I heard shuffling. I dropped my book bag on the floor and waited. The door swung open and Dylan was standing there. It looks like I just woke him up. The urge to hit him was intense but I can’t knock him out just yet.
“Back the fuck off of Lucy. This is between you and me.” I told him.
His eyebrows shot up. “Seriously dude, you’re bent out of shape because of that little trick? I thought you were a master player.” He taunted me.
I stepped forward and grabbed him by his shirt. “I’m talking about the threats to her life you’ve been sending.”
He frowned in confusion. “What are you talking about? I didn’t threaten her life. I haven’t bothered her since that first day. I saw how loyal she was to you so she has no use to me. That trick I played was for you.”
I dropped him back to his feet. “Don’t fuck with me.” I threatened.
He threw his arms up in surrender. “Listen, this is still a war. But it’s between me and you. Why would I threaten to kill her if I didn’t even do that to you? This is not that serious. I wouldn’t actually hurt her anyways. Besides being crazy for being with you she’s a good girl. I wouldn’t bring her into this now what the hell are you talking about?”
I watched his eyes and posture for any tells but there was none. He was telling me the truth. I sighed and turned and left. That meant that there is someone else out there fucking threatening her, but who? I grabbed a handful of hair and tugged. I can’t handle this if it is real. I made my way to class but I couldn’t focus. I had a million things running through my mind. Maybe this is just a trick? Someone working with Dylan? I knew that Lucy was putting on a front for me this morning when she said she was fine, but I know she’s scared shitless. I can’t tell her this. It’ll probably make her have a panic attack.
When I got home I kept a close eye on Lucy. She was definitely jumpy and that pissed me off. I couldn’t stand to see her scared, even in her own home. I waited until Lucy went to the kitchen to cook before I pulled Nick to the side.
“I don’t think that Dylan is the one threatening Lucy.” I told him.
His eyebrows rose and he frowned. “What do you mean?” he asked.
“I confronted him. He said he didn’t do it and I believe him.”
“You believe him?” he scoffed in disbelief.
I sighed. “Yes. He didn’t deny whatever the hell this thing is going on between us, but he was adamant about not involving Lucy. Honestly, it doesn’t fit in with his other hits against me. Why would he do that at the show knowing I wasn’t going to be there? And don’t you think I might’ve been the target in the picture and not her?” I asked him.
He seemed to think this through then sighed running his hand through his hair. “Fuck, so who could it be? We don’t have trouble with anyone else right now. Why would someone be going after her?” he asked.
I shook my head. “I don’t know. That’s what’s driving me crazy. I don’t even know where to start.” I confessed.
“How about with that email? There’s some guy in one of my classes that’s all techy and shit. I’m sure he would do some hacking for me at the right price.”
I nodded. “Let’s get on that ASAP. I don’t know if these threats are real or not. I don’t want to take any chances with her.”
“Me either. I’m going to hurt someone just so you know.” Nick confessed and I could only nod in agreement.
When I took Lucy up to bed that night the last thing on my mind was sleeping. I’ve been strung so tight all damn day. I was like a wild animal, I stripped me and Lucy down quickly and pushed her back onto the bed. She crawled up towards the headboard and I followed her. I leaned down and entered her in one swift thrust. When it was over I feathered kisses on her shoulder and neck. She pushed herself back into me and I felt myself harden again. I picked up her leg and put it over mine and I entered her slowly. This time it was calm and controlled. I took my time with her, feeling every inch of her that I could get my hands on. When I tweaked her nipple she shuddered and came. I stayed buried inside of her as I fell off to sleep.
CHAPTER 7
Lucy
Things seemed to have gotten back to normal. I didn’t receive any more threatening messages and my nerves have calmed, it’s been about a month. I was comfortable again in my own skin. Landon seems to be getting a kick out of this tit for tat thing he’s doing with Dylan. Like his own personal entertainment. When I finished class I was walking down the hall and my stomach rolled. I bee lined to the bathroom and threw up. This isn’t the first time, and I’m pretty sure I know what this meant. I headed to the medical room and signed in. There were two other girls there waiting. It took about 30 minutes before I was called inside.
“Hello there dear. What can I do for you today?” she asked.
I gulped. “I would like to take a pregnancy test.” I told her in a small voice.
She looked at me and gave me a forced smile with a nod. She went into a cabinet and retrieved a box. “You can use the bathroom right there and pee in this cup for me.”
I nodded and got up to go to the bathroom. I had to use the bathroom pretty badly but it was like my nerves were stopping me. Finally nature took over and I filled the cup. My hands were shaking pretty bad and I had to put the cup down and steady my nerves so that I didn’t drop it. I made my way back out into the room and handed the nurse the cup. She opened the box and stuck the stick in and turned back to me.
“I’m just going to head out really quick. When I come back, the results should be ready. Hold tight.” She told me.
I nodded and paced while I waited. It seemed like forever when really it was only a minute or two. I was biting my nails in worry. I tried not to think about what it would mean for either option, we’ve been using protection and was a lot more conscience of being careful. The nurse came back into the room and checked the stick. She turned back to face me and smiled. “Congratulations. It’s positive, you’re pregnant. Now I can give you some prenatal vitamins that I have on hand here, but you n
eed to schedule an appointment with your OB to begin prenatal care.”
I forced a smile and nodded. How does this keep happening? Fucking Landon is driving me crazy he’s got like mighty sperm. I’m about to recommend he donates for families that are struggling. I headed home with a million thoughts running through my mind. It was close to the time Max gets out of school so I stopped at the Chinese restaurant and got two eggrolls. I devoured them in the car and then headed to pick up Max. I took us home and at his request cooked baked ziti. I was tossing together a salad to go with dinner when Landon and Nick came in together. Nick slapped my ass and placed a wet kiss on my cheek. I giggled and heard a slapping sound and Nick groan. Landon must’ve hit him. Landon came up behind me and nuzzled my neck while he wrapped his arms around me. He grinded into me and bit my ear. I yelped and he chuckled.
I sniffed. “You had chocolate.” I accused.
He laughed. “What the hell are you a hound or something?”
I elbowed him. “I smell it.” I sniffed again. “It was a snickers? And you didn’t bring me any?” He backed up and I spun around to face him placing my hands on my hips. “I want a snickers Landon.” I demanded.
He was looking at me amused and curious. “Since when are you crazy about chocolate you’re ready to bite my head off for having some without you?” he asked.
I shrugged. Please don’t tell me that my pregnancy craving is freaking chocolate. I’m going to blow the hell up like a balloon. “I just want chocolate is all.” I told him spinning back around to finish the salad.
“Aw baby, I’ll make it up to you.” He told me.
“Too late.” I pouted. “I want it now.” I stomped my foot for emphasis.
“Stop being a baby. Now what you got in the oven?” he asked.
“Nothing for you we’re not sharing today right?” I asked.
He laughed. “I’m eating tonight. Whether it’s what you cooked or when you get in bed later. I’ll survive.” He whispered in my ear and I felt the tingle between my legs.
Dinner was ready shortly after and I made everyone’s plates. I was starving so I loaded up my plate the way I do the boys. I set out the food and everyone dug in. I was eating like a mad man when I realized no one was talking. I looked up with my mouth stuffed to see Nick and Landon staring at me.
“What?” I asked with my mouth full.
Nick cringed. “Eww Lucy, that’s just gross. You could’ve kept that to yourself. Don’t you have table manners?”
Landon shook his head. “Did you eat today?” he asked.
I nodded. “Yes. I had breakfast and lunch and two egg rolls before I picked up Max.” I told him then kept eating.
“So why are you acting like your starving?” Landon asked.
I finished chewing the food in my mouth and swallowed. “Because I am starving are you going to keep interrupting me?”
“I just never saw you eat like this. And you already said you ate more today than you usually do.” He said.
Now I was pissed. He was seriously messing up my meal. “Landon, if you don’t let me eat I will castrate you. Don’t you know better than to come between a pregnant woman and her food?”
I rolled my eyes and went about eating when Nick spoke up. “Holy shit! I knew my little swimmers were still kicking. Way to go me.”
I looked up and narrowed my eyes at him. “What are you talking about?”
He looked at me confused. “You just said I knocked you up Lucy.” Nick said.
I choked on the food in mouth. How the hell did I let that slip? I am way too hungry to be having conversations with these people. I glanced over at Landon and his fork was suspended in the air and his mouth was hanging open while he gaped at me. I took a drink of water and gave him a small smile.
I shrugged. “Oh yea, I found out today I was pregnant.” I told them.
Nick fist pumped the air and Landon didn’t move. I ducked my head and kept on eating. After a few minutes Landon continued eating but he didn’t mention anything about me being pregnant. I couldn’t read him, his face was a mask but I did catch him keep sneaking glances at me. I cleared my plate and got seconds. The table was totally silent and it was so weird. Even Max wasn’t talking, but then again he was busy shoveling food in his mouth. He really did like anything with tomato sauce, cheese, and pasta. After dinner we all hung out in the family room. I crawled onto Landon and laid my head on his chest. He got up really early to head to bed and my heart sank. I kind of felt like he was ignoring me, he didn’t even hold me when I was sitting with him. I stayed downstairs until I could barely keep my eyes open. I dragged my tired body up to our room not sure what to expect. When I went inside, I found Landon sitting at the head of the bed with his laptop and notebook. He was doing homework.
I grabbed a change of clothes and headed to take a shower. When I was done I climbed in bed and lay on my side. “Lucy, look at this.” I heard Landon murmur. I twisted around to look at him. His gaze was still fixated on the computer screen. I pulled myself to a sitting position and looked at the screen. He had up a website for a hospital. I looked closer and saw that it was a list of OB/GYNs. My eyebrows arched as I looked at the notebook where he’d been writing. There were all types of information about pregnancy and doctors. He came up here to do research?
“Landon, what are you doing?” I asked him.
He met my eyes. “I’m looking for a doctor. I read online that we should go see one as soon as possible so we can see how far along you are and stuff.” He shrugged. “And I was looking for a doctor. I read how… intrusive the appointments are so you can only see a woman. A straight woman.”
I scoffed. “Are you for real Landon?” I asked him and he nodded.
“I narrowed it down to these three people. I’ve looked them up and read their reviews. I’m going to call in the morning to schedule an appointment for us to go in. We can always change the doctor if we don’t like her.” He informed me.
“Huh. So you just have it all figured out?” I asked him.
“Yes Lucy I do.” He closed the laptop and put it on the nightstand with his notebook. He grabbed my hands in his. “I need to know that you want this… that you’re keeping it.” he told me.
I held his eyes so that he could see how serious I was. “Landon, I’m never going to do that again. When I finally realized what I did, I thought I was a monster. This happened, and we can do this together.”
He gave me a bright smile. “I love you Lucy.” He said and gave me a soft lingering kiss.
“I love you too Landon.” I told him. He cut off the lights and held me to him. He rubbed circles over my stomach until I fell asleep.
The next day when I came out of my last class, Landon was standing there waiting for me. I walked up to him and he wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead. “Hey baby, how was class?” he asked.
I smiled. “Long, and I’ve got some serious homework to do.” I told him.
He nodded and grabbed my hand to lead me outside. “We have an appointment in 30 minutes, let’s head to the hospital.”
I quirked an eyebrow and shook my head. “You sure don’t waste anytime do you?”
He laughed. “You should know me better than that by now.”
He led me to his car and headed to the doctor’s office. We checked in and were immediately taken into a room. Mr. Punctual made sure that we got there on time by running stop signs. The doctor asked me a series of questions which I stumbled over like when was my last period. Do girls honestly keep track of stuff like that? She rolled over some machine with a screen on it. It looked like a weird computer. She had already had me change out of my clothes and into a gown. She lifted up the gown and exposed my stomach. She pressed a few buttons and the screen changed but it didn’t show anything.
“This is going to be cold ok?” she asked. I nodded my consent and she squirted some blue goo on me I shivered on contact. She put this wand like thing on top of the goo and began to move it around. I watched the scr
een assuming I’m supposed to see the baby on there but I saw nothing. Landon was standing next to me holding my hand eyes glued to the screen. She twisted the wand around some as she probed and prodded my stomach. Finally she said, “And there we go. I found him, that’s your baby right there. Would you like a picture?” she asked.
“Yes. Can we have a few?” Landon answered immediately.
I squinted at the screen. “I’m sorry but I don’t see the baby.”
Landon stepped forward and pointed to a small blob on the screen. “It’s right there babe. I see it.”
I frowned. “That blob? It doesn’t look like a baby.”
