  “No. Why?”

She pulled the in-flight brochure from the seat pocket in front of me and flipped to an illustration of the flight paths of the airline. She pointed at it. “See…we offer a direct flight from Minneapolis to Oslo. There must be a reason you’re going to California first. Did you book your own tickets?” She was trying to be helpful. But I was almost at a loss for words.

  “No. My dad did.”

She smiled at me as if there was nothing more she could do at this point. I took a deep breath and settled in, clicking my seatbelt into place.

A few hours later, I sat on the plane, clutching the envelope. I stared at it. Again, I examined my plane tickets. I had a five hour layover. California. It was not just a cruel coincidence.

As the plane made its descent, the attendant announced, “Attention passengers, the captain has turned on the fasten seatbelt sign. Please stow your carry-on luggage under the seat in front of you. We’ll be landing at Oakland International Airport in approximately thirteen minutes.”

I slipped the envelope into the bag at my feet, tightened the loops on the drawstring, and pushed it forward.

  About the Author

  T. Anderson hails from northern Minnesota and draws much inspiration from her Scandinavian roots. With paternal ties to Norway and maternal ties to Sweden, details such as character names and story settings hold great meaning for the author. While luring readers into a mysterious science fiction thriller, at the same time she asks them to open their minds to new spiritual possibilities.

An artist of many mediums including clay, photography, and paint, T. Anderson is grateful for the opportunity to finally realize her passion for writing as well. She lives outside of Toronto, Canada with her soul mate, Kevan and her adopted canine son, Chico.
