“Any new information Amy?”
“Tad has been transferred to the prison hospital he wont be getting back out all the dads are in custody as well as the mums. Unfortunately there has been no luck tracking down any family for Layla so social services are looking at where they can place her until they find her a new home. Layla doesn’t want to move out of the area her school and all her friends are here. So social services are working on it she has been through enough already they don’t want to up root her more. We looked around the house and collected all the evidence Perry was right in the fact that the Aunt hadn’t died before. We found her body in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Tad had obviously murdered her when he got back into town for access to the house. When can you get home?”
“Well if all is well tomorrow I can go home. Physio for a while and I’m going to need to talk to Superintendent Walden about how much time I’m going to need to take off and physio and everything it’s going to be a while before everything is back to normal. I can’t believe it he killed his own aunt for a house. What am I saying I cant believe it the guys was nuts.”
“There is no rush detective and I’m sure Superintendent Walden will be fine. And definitely nuts were just have to make sure he doesn’t get off with an insanity plea. But honestly there is nothing to worry about. So come on how are things with Perry?”
“Amy gosh even now when I’m laid up in a hospital bed your still fishing for gossip.”
“Aahhh mock me all you want I saw that little blush tells me everything is fine with you and Perry.”
“So Amy how is everything with you and Ian? Where is Ian anyway and why is Jack standing outside he can come in”
“He is standing outside so us girls can talk me and Ian are great thank you. He is at the station doing some paperwork for the end of case reports you left us with. All the bits you don’t like doing. Yeah we guessed your plan.”
With that Jane and Amy couldn’t help but bust into laughter, prospect of Jane shrinking away from work was amusing and amazingly after everything that had happened how easy they slipped back into their normal conversations really showed Jane that everything was going to be ok.
Epilogue
6 weeks later……….
I can’t believe this trapped in a cell again because of that bitch. Well just you wait I’m a patient man. I plotted and planned and got away with 6 murders before I invited her into the game. I can be patient again I can be better. I will win I will beat her I will have her head in my hands and there will be nothing she can do about it. I nearly had her this time and she knew it. When I had her chained to that bed making her watch every cut every bite every delicious squirm and scream from that young disgrace of a child. When I beat her face and body to a pulp, when we dislocated her shoulders, watched her fall apart at the threat of rape from Charles. It’s a shame about Charles I heard they shot him he would of made a great accomplice he really believed in the message. Not like some of the other men that have been put in here I really am going to have to clean house. But anyway back to Jane I will have my vengeance they wont keep me locked in here forever and when they let me out I’m going for her and just her. I will make her bleed and scream for me. I do not like to lose and it’s twice that bitch has bested me but never again. I will reap her soul and cleanse her yet I will have her as mine. Next time there will be no game no plot to draw her in just a few rounds me and her and we will see how quick her team can find her then. My bet not quick enough for what I will have planned.

Great have I really got to have these Neanderthals banging on my door telling me lights out? I will escape from here that will be my ultimate victory. That will be how I prove I’m smarter than her and her beloved legal system. New plan a new game with only two players Jane and me. Watch me beat her watch me escape. And I get to watch as the terror spreads through her as she realizes I’m coming for her.
