The Man of My Dreams (From Russia With Love Story Series)

by Kiera Zane

The next morning dawns clear, crisp and quiet. Even as the sun rises, we make slow, delicious love and get up to make breakfast. I bounce like a child, because I get to eat real food. Eggs, bacon, toast and home fries, coffee for Jon and tea for me – a real American breakfast. The television is on in the background, and we enjoy the day. Things couldn’t be more right in the world.

There is a break in the television show going in the background and our attention is drawn to the solemn face of the newscaster, Walter Cronkite:

Here is a bulletin from CBS News. In Dallas, Texas, three shots were fired at President Kennedy's motorcade in downtown Dallas. The first reports say that President Kennedy has been seriously wounded by this shooting…

A second bulletin arrives as Cronkite is reading the first one:

More details just arrived. These details about the same as previously...President Kennedy shot today just as his motorcade left downtown Dallas. Mrs. Kennedy jumped up and grabbed Mr. Kennedy, she called "Oh no!," the motorcade sped on. United Press [International] says that the wounds for President Kennedy perhaps could be fatal. Repeating, a bulletin from CBS News: President Kennedy has been shot by a would-be assassin in Dallas, Texas. Stay tuned to CBS News for further details…

It is November 22, 1963 and the world has just irrevocably changed.

"We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone." -- Orson Welles

Look for Book 2 of the From Russia With Love series where the KGB threatens to end the love, happiness and lives of Aleksandra and Jon.

If you enjoyed this novel, please leave a 4 or 5 Star review for my book. I would greatly appreciate it.
