He explored her with his lips and tongue as if tasting her for the first time. He swept long, languorous licks across the length of her slit before returning to swirl tiny circles around her clit. By the time he slid a finger inside, she was half-mad with lust.
But this was more than a quick roll in the hay. He was touching her in a way that made her want to belong to him. She wanted to spend the rest of her life in his arms. And it wasn’t because of the incredible sex. She loved him with everything in her being and she couldn’t wait to build a family with him.
He stroked one finger, then two before returning to capture her clit between his lips. She moaned and ground against him, not caring if she was being greedy. She willingly took everything he had to offer and demanded more with every insistent grind of her hips.
Tension tightened the muscles in her pussy. She gripped his fingers as his rhythmic glides incited a storm in her body. Her breath hitched. Her mouth felt open. She came hard, lifting off the bed as racking sobs of ecstasy flew from her lips.
She hadn’t even had a chance to catch her breath when he surged into her, embracing her as another orgasm shimmied through her body. She wrapped her legs and arms around him and hung on tight. Every thrust brought their hearts closer together. Every soft promise he whispered in her ear burned into her brain. She knew that years from now she’d look back on this day and smile, knowing that it was the starting line in the race toward their future.
His thrusts grew deeper, harder, and held a hint of desperation, as if he couldn’t get enough of her. She understood. They were locked together in the most intimate way possible, and yet she wanted more. She needed a soul-melting, heart-wrenching, illusion-destroying orgasm with him.
As he pushed her closer to the point of no return, she clung to his ass. Taut muscles rippled with strain under her fingers. She dug in, clinging to him with every ounce of strength in her body. Even though she knew they’d be able to make love whenever they wanted, this time seemed especially important because it would bind them together forever.
“Come with me,” he groaned in her ear.
She angled her hips up to meet him. And as he plunged into her, she rode the cresting wave until they crashed down together in an endless, shuddering orgasm. His hot seed spilled into her, filling her with his love. She pulsed around him, gripping him tight, milking everything until they finally collapsed together.
They lay entangled as the sun set. The dinner bell rang, but she ignored it. She was exactly where she was supposed to be—in the arms of the man of her dreams.
Chapter 16
The next morning broke with the sound of birdsong. Violet rolled over to find an empty bed. She frowned and slipped out of bed. She grabbed a fluffy white robe from the bathroom and wrapped it around her body.
After checking the kitchen, she frowned. Where had he gone?
She stuffed her feet in her boots and headed toward the door. No way was he getting away with leaving her after a night of absolute perfection.
As she stepped outside, her eyes flinched at the bright sunlight. Good God, what time was it?
She opened her eyes to find Aaron down on one knee. Her parents and his brothers and sister stood behind him. Her jaw dropped. She wrapped her arms across her chest. If she could crawl into a hole and die from embarrassment, she would.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Violet, from the moment I met you, I knew you were the one. I’ve waited a long time—a really long time—to do this, but I’m glad I waited. There’s no one else I’d rather spend the rest of my life with. My heart’s yours. And I’ll work every day for the rest of my life to make you happy. I love you. So, Violet Amanda Olsen, will you marry me?”
“Yes,” she whispered, unable to get more than a breath out before he slid a glistening diamond ring onto her finger. She held it to the light as tears of joy rained down her face. It had taken years to get to this point, but they were finally here. Together.
He stood and swooped her up into his arms, sealing his promise to her with a kiss so passionate that she blushed. When he finally set her down, their family gathered around to congratulate them.
“This calls for a celebration,” Zack said as he wrapped an arm around Kim.
“I think brunch is in order,” Kim said.
“Fortunately we had about an hour’s notice,” Zack said with a chuckle. “So we were able to whip something up. Let’s go get our grub on.”
“I should change first,” Violet said, heat flooding her cheeks again.
“Yes you should, young lady,” her dad said in a playfully scolding tone.
She quickly changed into jeans and a T-shirt, then joined the group at the picnic tables by the back porch. An enormous spread of eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage, and all the fixings covered the table. Her stomach rumbled in anticipation.
“Here, honey.” Aaron pulled out a chair for her. “I made you a plate.”
“You really know a way to a woman’s heart.” She kissed him, then whispered in his ear, “A pregnant women’s heart. Should we tell them?”
“Not yet. Let’s let our engagement settle in first. We have all the time in the world to tell them.”
She nodded in agreement and grabbed his hand under the table. Her dad said grace and thanked God for all of their blessings.
When Aaron’s sister Beth passed around flutes of champagne, Violet tried to play it cool. She wasn’t going to touch the stuff, but hopefully no one would notice. Of course that didn’t happen. Her mom’s eagle eyes narrowed on the glass.
“You haven’t touched your champagne,” she said.
“I don’t usually drink before noon,” Violet said in an effort to dissuade her.
Her mom gasped. “Are you pregnant?”
“Um…”
“Oh my Lord we’re finally getting grandbabies,” her mom exclaimed. She jumped out of her seat and rounded the table to give Violet a huge hug. “Now you need to take care of yourself. No running around the farm lifting hay bales or roping cows. You’ll need your rest.”
“I’m not a delicate Texas rose,” Violet said.
“I know, but you’re my daughter and I want you to be safe and happy.”
Violet looked at Aaron and smiled. “I’ve never been so happy in my life. He’s going to make a great dad.”
As brunch turned into lunch, they spent the rest of the leisurely afternoon talking about plans for the future. She’d move into one of the cottages with Aaron until they could build their own place. And once they were settled, she’d help run her family’s honey business and eventually she’d take over. After the baby was old enough, of course.
She looked around at all of the smiling faces and her heart warmed. She’d never felt so loved, so cherished, and it was all because she’d finally found the life she was meant to live.

Excerpt
Rachel whispered, “You should go.”
When he didn’t immediately respond, butterflies beat furiously in her belly. His breath came fast and hard. His eyes
glimmered with unspoken desire. Close enough to see the wash of stubble on his cheeks, she flicked her tongue out to wet her lips and, in doing so, made a huge mistake.
In an instant, Brady wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. His lips slashed across hers in a demanding kiss that stole her breath. Even if she’d wanted to fight him, she couldn’t. She knew, without a doubt, that she’d awakened the beast lurking inside him—his bear.
His tongue slid between hers, eliciting a gasp from deep within her chest. All thoughts of fighting him vanished as he claimed her mouth. She wrapped her arms around his neck and drew him down to deepen the kiss. It had been so long since she’d kissed someone that the overwhelming rush of pleasure made her half-faint with wanton need.
He broke away long enough to gasp. “Which room?”
“Two-fifteen.”
He scooped her into his arms as if she were lighter than a feather. When they reached the door, she yanked the keycard out of her jeans and jammed it into the lock. The second it clicked open, he kicked the door with his boot. He carried her inside and kicked the door closed behind him.
She couldn’t look at anything but the twin dark pools of desire in his eyes. The pure, masculine scent of erotic need rolled off of him in waves. She inhaled deeply, drawing in his essence.
After setting her down, he cupped her face with his palms. “If you want me to stop…”
She shook her head, unable to make her lips move. This was crazy, but she couldn’t think about the consequences now. She needed him, wanted him, and wouldn’t stop until she had him.
