‘Why didn’t you ever say something?’
‘After that time, it was as if I didn’t exist to you. I saw you a few times with your mates in Highgate. You didn’t even register me and then later, there was always Finn somewhere around.’
‘I’m sorry. I’ve been lost. In a dream. But I’m awake now and I’ve found you . . . You could call it love at second sight.’
This time it was Ben who leant forward to kiss me and a wave of pure happiness surged through me. He pulled back to look deep into my eyes again and inwardly, I felt something lift and the veils of time drew back. Howard and Henrietta were united, no longer trapped in the past. We were together in the present as Jo and Ben and from the way he was looking at me, the future was looking good for all of us.

Cathy Hopkins lives in Bath, England with her husband and three cats, Dixie, Georgia and Otis. Cathy has been writing since 1986 and started writing teenage fiction in 2000. She spends most of her time in her writing turret pretending to write books but is actually in there listening to music, hippie dancing and checking her facebook page.
